Exist a type of appzapper for linux ??
Hi everyone.. i was searching a way to remove automatic the config, cache, etc of the
programs removed.
for example.. when i use pacman -Rsn Chromium
pacman remove all files exept the config of chromium (/home/user/.config/chromium)
Exist some configuration of pacman(or plugin) to delete ALL FILES??..
thanks everyone..
PD:http://www.appzapper.com/
You generally have to delete user config files yourself. If you are looking for a way to wipe cache, history, etc. you can use something like bleachbit.

Does it exist a JDK 1.4.2 for Linux X86 64bit (not Itanium!!)
Hi Gurus,
I'm installing a NW7.0 on a Linux (x86_64).
As you know a JDK 1.4.2 needs to be in place before running sapinst.
However on SUN website there is no JDK for that type of machine. The itanium version doe snot work and if I installed a X86 (32bit) version I'm having problems with sapinst and requests a 64 version.
What I did is to download the JDK 1.5.0 for Linux x86_64 but I'm afraid that I may have later problems as the documentation just talks about 1.4.2.
How is it possible that the installation guide requests something that does not exist? Most probably I'm missing something.
Any help appreciated and points awarded.
Regards,
Alberto SabateFrank,
Thanks for your response. I have install it now and I'll try it tomorrow starting a new sapinst installation. I have such a headache after 14 hours of Linux that I can do it tonight. I'll get back to this tread tomorrow. Thanks.

Using a existing Document type for a new requirement.
Hi Gurus,
I have a Sales Documnent type ZOR which was earlier used and now this not being used any more.
If we start using the same document type again after changing the description will it have any negative Implications?
Will any reporting or financial posting or Audit issue occur as we use the existing document type with a new desciption for a new requirement.
Thanks
MonteeMonti,
1. First you will have to decide that the document you have created for a business process is going to be reappear in future. if not then you can change the document description and reuse it.
2. Within the document type take care of no. range assignement, Pricing date and billing documents you have assigned (Delivery related or order related)
3. Item category usage, you would have assigned an item category for this document type check the item category assignement when you are using it for new process relook into into item category details screen. Check even Schedule line category details and its assignement
4. Check Copy controls once again (Delivery related or order related).
5. Check the Delivery and billing documents associated with it.
6. Check its assignement to a specific sales area if configured else OK

Urgent-change the end date for a existing wage type.
Hi,
Can u pls let us know how to change the end date for a existing wage type.
The current end date is 30.8.2008 and we would like to change to 31.12.9999.
Rgds,Use This report RPCLGV00
The Wage Type Distribution report enables you to display wage types for several payroll periods. It does not take into consideration differences resulting from retroactive payroll. The report shows the current values (number and amount) for each wage type. The report evaluates the payroll records that are marked with update indicator A when the report is run. Subsequent reporting runs may not give the same result if - in the intervening period - retroactive payroll has taken place for the evaluation period. The wage type distribution uses the data from the results table RT for the relevant payroll result. The employees organizational assignment is also evaluated from the payroll result. This data is taken from the Work Center Basic Pay table (WPBP).
The wage type distribution offers you the following options for evaluation:
Individual reporting for a specific personnel number or name.
Totals evaluation without specifying a personnel number or name.
You cannot use wage type distribution to run a report for several countries. You can only select payroll areas from one country for reporting.
Scope of Function
You use the following parameters to determine how the appearance of the wage type statement:
Wage type for evaluation
Enter all wage types that are to be evaluated. If you do not make an entry here, the system selects all wage types. Note that you can only select wage types that occur in the RT table.
Evaluation start date
Evaluation start date and evaluation end date define the evaluation period. Enter the year and payroll period for the start of the evaluation.
Evaluation end date
This parameter delimits the evaluation period. If you do not make an entry here, only the period from the period from the parameter Evaluation start date is evaluated. -

Tcpview type app for linux?
hi there weren't that many great apps for windows that i haven't been able to find a substitute for in linux, apart from a small windows program called tcpview. basically it gave you a list of all your tcp connections, very much like netactview, but with one added function. you could click on a connection and choose to disconnect it. does anyone know of any such app for linux or something that may be in the AUR in particular? i'm not having much luck

Partition an Advanced Format drive with 4KB sector (for Linux OS only)
I got a brand new WD 1TB drive, model WD10EZEX, I'm upgrading from an old 500 GB drive with Arch running on it, and I'm going to make a fresh Arch install on it.
I suddenly learned about all this Advanced Format issue, with the first units "lying" about physical sector size and all that stuff, which started like 2 years ago and I was not aware of.
I couldn't find a step by step guide to perform the proper formatting for a fresh Linux OS install with 4KB-sector, despite the info is out there scattered in tons of blogs, forums, etc.
I figured out the steps for my simple setup, and I'd like to know if everything is all right. For the ones who already know the steps, can you please go to the bottom of the post, and tell me if the final setup is all right to start the fresh install ?? I reproduce all the steps hoping that this will help other people in the future.
I'll use the whole drive only for an Archlinux install, with one partition for the / and another for /home.
Seems the GPT modern method is the way to go, and the gdisk tool will do the trick. If we are booting from this drive, with GRUB2 in a BIOS system, we must also create a BIOS Boot Partition.
So, with the drive having no partitions at all, and sda being the device name
# gdisk /dev/sda

karamaz0v wrote:what confused me a bit, was that I saw a lot of setups with the BIOS boot partition, and also a 200 MB EFI one. Having a BIOS system, I think I don't need the EFI one.
Some people do this because they're unclear of their requirements. Others do it because they want to have the option of switching boot modes between BIOS/legacy and EFI. With both types of boot loader installed, you can choose on a boot-by-boot basis which way to start the computer, assuming it supports both boot modes. -
Why Apple does not offer support for linux?
We all know the history of Apple. It clearly shows a trend to be open source, excepting for the licenses they share with Microsoft. In my personal case, I love open source because it has solved several of my problems. Just to share this with everyone, I am the network manager of a educational institution and I used to have my servers running on windows platform. Since we used to buy it all from Microsoft, they would give us free software for or labs, software like Visual Studio. They even assigned us engineers to plan everything for our servers, free of cost. Guess what? It was a disaster. We had our database destroyed by an external attack. We were “lucky” to have Microsoft in our servers and in our firewalls.
We had to take action, so I decided to switch to Debian, and to use IPCOP (a great dedicated firewall, if there is anyone interested, the link is: http://ipcop.org/ , please note, I am NOT affiliated with them, and I will receive no compensation or benefit if you chose to access it or not ). Both open source. The result, no external attack has been able to pass trough. After that, we switched most* of our e-learning platforms to open source, and guess what? We are saving over 60,000 yearly just in software. So for those who are looking for a good way to get good security without loosing an eye, try open source.
Now back to the point, I do not fully support any operative system. They all have their good features, or at least they should. The ones I know, are because I use them. My home network is composed by computers running in five different versions of Linux, two running in Mac OS X Tiger, and some others running in XP pro. My main computer is running in Ubuntu, and is really sad to see that there is no software from apple available for Linux. That is honestly the worst part of Linux, having no iTunes or QuickTime available. No way to see multimedia in the web, etc. A suggestion for apple would be, give support for Linux, there are a lot of us wanting the same.Apple makes software and hardware. Therefore they
offer a total solution. Now they even can have
windows xp running on their hardware. Making a
version of mac os to run on linix isn't practically.
Under a mac is unix and you can run unix software
with the mac so you could do ever thing you are
doing with a mac.
I did not know Linux was one type of computer, like Mac...
Next topic, If I was willing to pay for it, this thread would not exist, because I can actually use a commercial software to adapt the windows web plug ins to Linux... If I was in charge of Apple, I would propose to develop free software support of my products, - plug ins and so - to other operative systems... But of course, even if I did, it would not be up to me. It would have to pass trough several layers of bureaucracy, and it would take a lot of time to be approved or rejected.
Anyway, the main issue is, the three most important OS's are Windows, Linux, and Mac. And that can't be denied. Now you can even run Windows in a Mac PC, and vice versa... besides being fancy, what else could I do with a Mac PC using Windows, when I can build a machine able to run Windows for less than 300 bucks? OK if you want to try a Mac in a i386 or a x86... but I still rather to be the proud owner of a PowerMac G5 than the owner of a Pentium 4 / AMD using Mac OS.
Also, I thought it would be fun to see the reactions and opinions of other people with this topic, hence, I was not expecting anyone from Mac to read it, and really do something about it, because I know they won't. -
Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion
Windows 7 Pro laptop will not connect to corporate domain. Multiple identical twin laptops have no problem.
Best suggestion so far has been to leave the domain and rejoin it, BUT the relevant buttons are grayed out and the comment says "Note: The identification of the computer cannot be changed because:- The Workstation service is not running. Open the Services
snap-in (services.msc) to ensure it is running and set its Startup Type as "Automatic"."
In services.msc the Workstation service is already set to Automatic but is not started. When I try to start it manually the response is "Windows could not start the Workstation service on Local Computer." and then "Error 1075: The dependency service does
not exist or has been marked for deletion."
Rebooting gets me nowhere.
In all other respects that laptop appears fine and can connect to the Internet, but NOT to the network. I have brought it and a twin laptop home to try on my domestic network and get the same results.
Any ideas, please?Hi,
Let us go to services.msc and navigate to Network Store Interface Service. Please check whether this service has been set to Automatic and turned on.

[SOLVED] Lousy fonts with .chm viewer for Linux
I installed the .chm file viewer HelpExplorer 3.0 in both Windows XP and Arch Linux (chm = compiled HTML help file). In Windows XP, with default fonts installed, the fonts in text read with this viewer appear crisp, sharp and anti-aliased. In Arch with KDE 3.5.7, on the other hand, the fonts appear fuzzy, grainy and don't seem to be anti-aliased, in contrast with their appearance in all other apps (except for a few such as Dillo) which render text good-looking, sharp and anti-aliased.
HelpExplorer for Linux was provided as a tarball that included a precompiled 'helpexplorer' binary. The program doesn't seem to allow for customizing font settings.
The following fonts are installed in Arch (in /usr/share/fonts/):
ttf-bitstream-vera-1.10-5 is installed by default
gsfonts 8.11-4 is installed by default
PostScript Type 1 fonts installed: Century Schoolbook, Nimbus, URW Bookman, URW Gothic, URW Palladio
ttf-ms-fonts-2.0-1 (Microsoft TTF: Andale Mono, Arial, Comic, Courier, Georgia, Impact, Tahoma, Times New Roman, Trebuchet)
font-bh-ttf-1.0.0-3 (Luxi BH)
xorg-fonts-100dpi-1.0.1-1 (courier, helvetica, lucida, new century, times)

I've attached a screenshot of some text displayed in the HelpExplorer reader in Arch (the font is Times New Roman): http://img216.imageshack.us/my.php?imag … ot1zh9.png

What do I need to do to improve the font appearance in this program in Linux?
Last edited by RobF (2007-10-02 18:06:46)I found a solution of sorts by installing and running the Windows version of HelpExplorer in Wine or Crossover. There is still very little control over fonts but when I enlarge the default font (with 2x CTRL-+) I do get a nice-looking anti-aliased Times New Roman font, and this solution would be my preferred way of reading .chm files in Linux (i.e. better than KchmViewer or Xchm).
Recap of the problem:
1. The .chm viewer HelpExplorer Viewer 3.0 when installed in Windows XP renders fonts crisp and clear and anti-aliased.
2. The Linux version of HelpExplorer Viewer 3.0 (delivered as a precompiled executable in a tarball) doesn't render fonts antialiased, regardless of what I tried, and they look grainy and unattractive.
3. The Windows version of HelpExplorer Viewer 3.0 when installed and run in Arch in Wine or Crossover does render the default font they offer (looks like Times New Roman) fairly crisp and clear and anti-aliased, at least at the enlarged setting.
Can someone explain to me what might be going on? Why is it that the Linux version cannot render fonts anti-aliased when the Windows version running in the emulator in Linux can? Is there something that I have to change in my fonts config, fonts location, symlinks or path to get the anti-aliased fonts to work in HelpExplorer in Linux?

I also had the same error on one of my servers, and it was because the user that created the database no longer worked for the company.
So when his AD account got deleted, the database had NULL as owner
Using the following query I asked for the owners of the databases:
select name, suser_sname(sid) from master.dbo.sysdatabases
So changing the owner of the databases that had a NULL owner solved the issue for me.
use <databasesname>
go
exec sp_changedbowner 'sa'

You are missing some required Linux files. When you install
Linux, pick the 'everything' option, then weed out the obvious
things you don't want (like the Serbian How-To's, etc.)
I say this because I ran into the exact same thing this past
weekend after picking and choosing which packages to install for
Linux. After re-installing with the 'everything' option, the
Oracle install went swimmingly. I wish I could tell you which
package in particular you are missing, but I never figured that
out.

How to connect Oracle 8.0.5 for Linux to Tuxedo?
How to config Tuxedo RM file and setting.Thomas Drolshagen (guest) wrote:

I have tried to install Oracle on SuSE 5.2. I almost complted the
installation, but kept getting a failure on installing the
database. The last entry in the install.log is:
Leaving trace.ins- Entering Make Dependent section.
- Entering do_relink==false section.
- Leaving Make dependent section.
- Entering database actions section.
Deciding to start again from scratch, I tried deleting all files
and begining again, but now I get a different error running
orainst. The installer keeps responding that 'file x already
exists'. The name of the file changes each time I run it, and no
file of that name exists. I have tried deleting the temp
directories, as well as dropping them and recreating them
elsewhere (desperation!), but I canot stop this from happening:
An operating system error occurred while trying to spawn
'/orasys/app/oracle/product/8.0.5/bin/otrccref' while
redirecting
output to '^ @^'. (File exists.) Would you like to retry
the
operation, ignore the error, or allow the error to be
processed by
the Installer?
Does anyone have any ideas??

Font Smoothing in LabView for Linux
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has been able to get their fonts in LabView for Linux to be either smoothed using Gnomes subpixel smoother for LCDs, or any other type of anti-aliasing. I currently can use truetype fonts in LabView, and for the most part they do look pretty decent.. btu they are not smoothed at all. Every single application I have loaded has smooth fonts other than LabView. Please let me know if anyone has managed to get this working... and if so, how.
I am currently using Gentoo with all of my packages updated less than a month ago, with LabView 8.2
Thanks for any info!Unfortunately, we do not support fonts on your operating system. Hopefully another customer is more familiar with this.
