I am an infinity and all package customer paying on average £65 pound per month. I am however out of contract on my you view package. So I wanted to renew my contract and add multiroom. I was informed that the new box would-be 99 pounds. No I'm a New customer I said, yes but you've already had one free box from us !!! Charming and not impressed I am now Very tempted to leave. Anyone else had this problem?

Existing customer wished to start a new contract

Hi,
After coming to the end of the my initial 18 month contract I looked online and saw lots of great deals that BT offer new customers (6 months free, free homehub, Sainsburys vouchers, etc). So armed with this and also prices from Talk Talk I phoned BT in the hope that I could maybe upgrade my current broadband package and make use of these great deals.
I was told that the online deals are for new customers only and as an existing customer I cannot get these. The deal I was offered was more expensive than the new customer deals when you work out the monthly cost !!
I'm baffled by this as everyone knows it's easier for a company to keep a customer than gain a new one. There is less work that BT need to do to start me on a new contract compared to a new customer, I also do not need any new hardware, and yet I'm charged more !
Is this right I was I talking to the wrong people at BT?
Don't want to leave BT really but other companies offer better deals and so far BT are not interested

Hi,
I am currently on BT's standard broadband package at £13 + line rental. So thought I'd upgrade to BT infinity 1 (up to 40mb) with or without unlimited download usage. They quoted me £21.25 per month for unlimited infinity and £17.65 for the 40gb limit which was more than the current new customer deals at the time of calling.
I phoned twice speaking to different people and the both said the same
I'll try the options team tonight.
What is option3?

BT finally let me out of contract

After weeks of engineer visits, and broadband still slow, they have eventually let me out of my contract for broadband and phone, without penalty, thank you bt, its just a shame it took this long for you to relise you can not provide the service to my property

Verizon is doing you a favor by letting your line our of contract without an ETF. You can continue to ask for more compensation, but there is guarentee or way to "make" Verizon do what you are asking. The only gaurentees are the ones written in your contract, and if your wife's phone and line are not having issues, there is no reason for Verizon to let her line out of contract as well.
The best you can do is ask, and if Verizon doesn't choose to do you any more favors, then you'll have to do the math and make the best decision for you.

Getting out of contract based on lack of coverage

I recently moved from NY to MA. I have had Verizon forever and no issues. Unfortunately where I now live, my cell phone calls continuously get dropped in my house and pretty much through the town where I live. I called Verizon a few weeks ago and they said that they would sent someone out to test my area and get back to me. I never did hear back from them and had two calls drop again last night at my neighbors house. I spent an hour on the phone with Verizon who told me that Yes, my coverage in my area is considered MARGINAL. I have a couple options, they could give me a network extender for my house, which wont work on my cell phone when I'm out of my house or I can cancel my agreement. BUT, because I signed my agreement in NY, my coverage is based on that area and I will have to pay the fees for early termination. I have not had any issues with Verizon, I'm sad that I dont have great coverage where I live because I have enjoyed Verizon.... the only reason I need to terminate is because my coverage is awful here. I work from home and often forward my work calls to my cell phone. This is where I live, I"m not just visiting or renting, we purchased a house here. Verizon is forcing me to keep my phones with unstable coverage or pay an outrages amount to terminate my contract.
The customer service agent told me that I could suspend my phone at no charge for six months...purchase a Straight Talk phone for $50/mo use the money that I save from my bill at the end of the six months to pay off the early termination???? REALLY????
Any suggestions would be wonderful. I definitely feel more like a number at this very moment than a client.
Not happy right now

It's probably because people have been gaming the system. People here for example will buy a device sign a contract and then act like they moved and say they don't have coverage on a neighbor island. So they get a device for free-$200 and out of contract to use on another carrier. This kind of stuff happens on a very large scale. At times people take their devices overseas and used family members addresses to buy devices.

Why does Verizon want me to pay *more* to renew my 2-year FIOS contract than to let it expire?

Currently I'm paying $104.99/month for Extreme HD and 50/50 internet. When my contract expires in August, that will supposedly go up to $119.99/month: When I go to the upgrade/renewal page, I'm offered a start a new 2-year contract for the very same services for $124.99/month: So why on earth would I do this? Why would I sign a contract to pay $5 more per month for 2 years on the chance that maybe the off-contract price will go up at some point? It's also worth noting that if I try to sign up for service as a new customer, I'm offered the Extreme HD and 50/50 Double Play for my current $104.99/month for a 2 year contract. I know from experience that trying to get new-customer offers as an existing customer is a losing battle (despite the fact that I already have the lines and equipment and would require zero labor from Verizon), but it still seems like a crummy way to treat existing customers.

Well, the new-customer 2-year price of $104.99 hasn't changed since I began this contract 2 years ago. And look at the screenshots -- I'm currently paying $104.99/month, with $15 in discounts which expire at the end of my contract, which means when my contract ends it'll go up to $119.99/month. So to entice me into signing a new contract, they're offering to lock in a price of $124.99/month for 2 years, $5 MORE than I'd pay if I just let the contract end. How does this make sense?

Not good to be an existing customer

I understand the need to attract new customers, but come on Verizon, give your long-term customers a break!
I've had fios since it was available in the neighborhood (about 4 yrs now) and have really loved the product. The issue now is that it's time to renew again, but to keep the similiar level of service my price is going up $10/mon! With my DVRs and STB my bill is already $175/month for the triple play. Back when they first started the service I think I was awarded a slightly lower monthly fee - nothing like the deals now!
It kills me to see new customers getting much lower monthly rates, plus free multi-room dvrs and stb boxes for life - that's a massive savings! Geez verizion, at least give the existing customers the dvr/stb deal or something. I'm almost willing pay switch back to cable with less service just for the principle of it! Maybe i'll come back in a year to get back in good graces of verizon as a new customer again!

I do not understand why Verizon does not think it is important to keep existing customers. I have been with Verizon for almost 3yrs. I want to stay now that my contract is up but all they offer me is the same bundle with a higher price than I currently pay. When I ask about the bundles I see I get the usual new customer only talk. Can someone in Verizon answer me as to why you do not care about your existing customers? Why not offer existing customers who are out of contract that same bundles as new customers? You should consider them new customers since they have the choice to leave so why not try to keep them? Isn't it cheaper for me to keep my boxes and setup instead of sending a service person to a new customer? Again I do not want to switch services but why would I pay more to stay? Why should I feel second rate in Verizon's eyes? My money is just as good as a new customer. If Verizon does not want it than I know many other providers that would jump at it. I guess it is just time to start calling the other providers and say goodbye Verizon.

Help unlocking my phone as I am now out of contract with EE...

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. I have been a pay monthly customer with EE for several years and have recently moved to Italy, and my contract with EE has now finished. I would like to unlock my iPhone 4 to use with an Italian phone provider but as I am out of contract I cannot use the online form provided on EE website. I also cannot pop into a store given that I now live in Italy. Any advice on what to do from here would be much appreciated!

These are the EE unlocking rules and these are the only way to get your device unlocked.
It costs £8.99 to unlock a device from EE there are a number of options that you might be able to use to get your device unlocked.
But first this.
Only contract devices have to be used for 6 months first before requesting a unlock. PAYG, Sim only or secondhand devices this rule doesn't apply.
1, If you still with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the unlocking request form with your details. Any phone that was replaced by insurance you will need to let EE know that it was a replacement device if your still in contract. You can also unlock an old device if you have a upgrade device on your account just fill out the request form with your details and the phone number you used with this device. It doesn't matter if you use this number on a new device now.
2, If you already have an account with EE and you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device lock to EE and you would like it unlocked you just need to use your Sim card in the device so the IMEI number gets registered to your account. Once your account has the IMEI number on it you can the fill out the online unlock request form.
3, If you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device and don't have a EE/Orange/T-Mobile account and you don't want to use the EE networks you need to get a PAYG SIM card and set up an account. Top-up the account to £8.99 to pay the unlock fee than fill out the online unlock request form.
(If using a PAYG you must make sure that the £8.99 is on your account when EE take the payment if it's not your device will not get unlocked and EE will not inform you that the unlock request has failed. It's you job to make sure the cedit is there when EE go to take it they will not inform you when there going to take it)
Or
4, A non EE customer can take the device to your local EE store and request the unlock from there it will still cost £8.99 and it still takes 7 to 10 days
5, If you would like a device unlocked and you are no longer with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the online unlock request form using the number that you used with that device on EE/Orange/T-Mobile. EE will unlock devices that are up to 10 years old that were used on their network. You will still be billed to unlock the device.
6, If you have brought or thinking about buying a 2nd hand device and you are not in the UK you are going to find it very hard to get a device unlocked when you setup an account you need a UK address also you will need to get a PAYG SIM card but you will also need to find away of topping up the account with GBP, if you can not do any of this the device will not get unlocked there are no exceptions.

Extending functionality from existing custom taglib

Hi!
I'm trying to extend the functionality of an already existing custom taglib. To test this possibility I�ve so far created a small taglib containing two tags. QbeTag.java and QbeSumTag.java.
The QbeTag class handles a database connection and constructs a table showing the result of a query passed in as an attribute in the tag. (The database contains a �dummy table� holding information about persons.)
Now let�s pretend that I don�t have the source code for the QbeTag but need to/ want to extend its functionality. For instance:
In the QbeSumTag I want to summarize all the persons ages and present it in a new text field somewhere else on the page.
To do this I probably need to access the QbeTag class from the QbeSumTag class, or is there any other way to achieve this wanted functionality?
Up to this point:
What I�ve tried is to implement the QbeSumTag so that It extends the QbeTag class. This means that I now can access the doStartTag, doEndTag, and so on methods from the QbeSumTag by typing super.doStartTag().
The problem with this approach is that this way only gives me the possibility to run the methods not altering the process it self and I can�t alter the out stream. A syntax like:
public int doStartTag() throws JspException
return super.doStartTag();
Will only result in a call for the QbeTag�s doStartTag() method to run and do it�s stuff.
Is there any way I can solve this or am I stuck? Maybe one approach would be to nest the QbeSumTag with the QbeTag wich would mean that there will be a dependency between the tow tags.
I believe that this question is quite difficult to answer but it could be the starting point for an interesting discussion. Hasn�t anyone tried to extend the functionality of the Jakarta taglib, say the DB tags or Mail tag.
All thoughts and replies will great fully received.

Well, the answer to this is the same as the answer to extending any third party classes... it depends on how the original class was created.
If the original class was designed with extension in mind, then (hopefully) its realy functionality will be isolated to a series of protected methods (that you would have access to) and private methods (you would not have access to).
You would use the public and protected methods to retrieve the data you need to do your work, or override those ones whose work you want to replace (for instance, if it has a protected displayOutput(Map dataMap) method, you are in luck!).
If everything is done giving you know access to the pieces, then you may be stuck providing a tag that has the original tag nested inside it. Buffer the output from the original tag and parse it, retrieving the info you need, then output your own stuff...

Unable to run existing custom page in OAF

I have to develop one page as similar to a existing custom page.
First to run the existing custom page , I have down loaded all the files (custom folder ) from server to local directory ,and rebuilt...... still Iam not able to run the existing page .
Even I tried to run a NEW sample page (in the same directory ) , iam not able to run.
Can any one suggest in this.

Hello Aravinda,
First of all, in order to run the custom pages in your local machine, you need to copy the xml files and .class files in your respective folder.
Then, the .class files of EO,VO ,Controller,etc should be decompiled and .java files should be generated. These files should be in your myprojects.
This is just the abstract view of what needs to be done.
For developing the OAF pages, I reccomend you to go through this following blog. Its really nice for a newbie..

Verizon wireless is refusing to unlock my out of contract 4s. What can Apple do about.

Verizon wireless is refusing to unlock my out of contract iPhone 4s. I have called three times their customer service. I just finish reading about the CTIA and FCC agreement regarding the unlocking process. A copy of the agreement can be found at http://www.ctia.org/docs/default-source/fcc-filings/ctia-letter-on-unlocking.pdf What can be done from the Apple's OEM side of the business in order to have my device unlocked?

The unlock of ANY device is accomplished BETWEEN the wireless server and apple. PLEASE understand that without the wireless carrier agreeing that it is in their best interest to unlock your device they will NOT unlock the device. If the device has met all critirum AND you are the registered owner of the device there should be NO REASON why the wireless carrier will not unlock the device. But please appreciate the fact that in this security laden world we live in each and EVERY business errs on the side of the customer whenever there is an issue of protecting said customer.

Creative cloud existing customer offer question

Just wondering, if I subscribe to creative cloud using the existing customer discount offer, will I still be able to use my existing CS5, or will that serial number no longer be valid?

You would be able to access your CS5 even you purchase creative cloud discounted offer.
It will be valid and your new creative cloud susbcription will not effect your CS5 product or its serial number.

CS5 is not seeing existing, custom icc profiles. howto?

Briefly: Mac Pro running Snow Leopard. Upgraded from CS4 to CS5 and my existing, custom icc profiles appear but are unavailable (grayed out)
The profiles are in the usual places: /Library/ColorSync/Profiles
AND /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles.
I'm the only user and I have Admin privileges.
CS4 still seems to be connected and using my needed profiles.
Bridge, Illustrator and InDesign, either don't see the profile or it is grayed out.
Photoshop sees the profile and allows me to use it as my Ps default.
Any thoughts as to where else to place the profile or how to get Bridge to see it (and therefore sync the other products)?

Mac OS 10.8.4 is still in beta. You need to be reporting this to Apple.
What happens if you move these profiles to the Adobe/Profiles folder, or the users/Library/Colorsync/Profiles folder?
There has been a lot of discussion of this on many forums with no solution.
What forums? A google search turns up nothing but this thread.
I have not seen this problem with the released versions of 10.8.

Can I port a number that's out of contract to another phone?

Can I port the number from my iphone 5s when it's out of contract in a few weeks, and place it on a iphone 6 that's already bought on a new line and cancel the line?

Then why couldn't you wait the few weeks until your current account is eligible for the upgrade and not have this hassle? In it was announced yesterday if your contract ends before 2014/11/15, you could have upgraded early for the two year contract price.
Now you have to wait until your contract date and port the number you want to another carrier, start a plan there and turn around and cancel the other carrier plan by porting the preferred number on top of the temporary phone number you got when you purchased the iPhone 6. It is more hassle then it is worth. I should know as I have done something very similar three years ago.

I am trying to bind Crystal reports Data source to an existing custom data library, located not in the project code, but DLL. My library contains business object implementations.I am using the "Database Expert", creating a new connection to an ADO.NET source, selecting the .dll from the my directory, and selecting the Class Name from the list of business entities that Crystal Report has detected from the assembly.But when I try to expand the newly-added data source, "... no items found ..." is displayed instead of the properties of the business object. I use similar aproach (BindingSource) when I bind my custom objects to the grid. Is there any way to to bind to classes defined in a .dll located in a folder ?There are many examples if the class implementation is in my project code, but I could't figure out how to do that, using classes from a DLL Any suggestion/help is appressiated regards,Yakimo
