Methods for migrating existing servers to new hardware

I have 10 Solaris 8 and 9 boxes (SF4800 and V480). We are moving these to new hardware (V490 and V440).
All have mirrored boot disks, some using VxVM and some using SDS. All are connected to SAN storage (Sun 3900 and EMC).
I am looking for the easiest, simplest and least risky method to migrate.
Possible methods:
1) Pull boot disk from existing server, move to new server. Issues: drive compatibility between old and new servers.
2) Flasharchive to NFS server, install new servers from flash image. Issues: SDS/VxVM encapsulation?, old server Solaris versions do not support new server hardware.
3) Break boot disk mirrors, Live upgrade to latest Solaris 9 on this disk, then Flasharchive this image to NFS server. Issues: none that I can think of.
Any input/ideas are appreciated.

I am not an expert in Portal Migrations but I would suggest you to do a homogenous system copy, then restore it on SLES10 32-bit and then migrate it to 64 bit. But you need to do a fair amount of homework before you carry out this exercise.
Even if you are not touching the database, I would suggest going for a homogenous system copy. The reason being, there are some database related files stored on Portal server and whenever you restart the Portal server, it's gonna check the timestamps there with the ones available on DB. We ran with a problem once doing the same. We were using Oracle then.
Secondly, before taking a decision to move over to 64-bit, I would suggest you to check the PAM and have a look whether all the portal components are supported or not. We had a problem with HP-IA64 bit because we finally found out that it doesn't support Adobe Document Services. So things like these need to be thought over and confirmed before stepping forward.

Using the OES migrations for new hardware

I need to change my hardware, is it possible to use the migration tool to change from one hardware with OES linux to a new hardware with also OES linux just as we did from Netware to Netware ?

Licence file for new hardware key

Hi everybody.
I plan to migrate mi SBO server to a new machine. In order to test the change process a realise it in a virtual machine. During the install process I have requested a new licence file an finish correctly the new setup and restore the DB without trouble. The problem is that I have received a licence file that expire in 14 days. So when I will make the real new setup in my new machine How could I get a permanent valid file for the new hardware key and disable the orl licence file ?

Does apple provide professional Installation for new hardware?

I want to know if i can bring my Imac 21.5 mid 2014 for new hard drive installation to an apple store. Is there a service for that? I know they have a repair service, does it provide for that as well? I do have applecare coverage, I'm not sure if that counts for anything other than if my imac gets damaged.

Using Existing Template for new pdf's

How do I use and existing template of pdf's to create new ones. I just want to copy and past new pics and text where existing pics and text exist in a template that is already made?
Also, How can I make all pictures the same size?

1) If you're using Adobe Reader, you can't edit PDFs at all.
2) In Acrobat you can make some changes to a PDF file but they are not editable documents in the same way a Word or InDesign file is. PDFs are end destination files - you export them from another application, and if you want to make significant changes you edit the original document and re-export a whole new PDF.

Background:
I told my mother I would help her build a website so she can sell her artwork online. So we got CS4 Web Premium. I have been studying how to use the software for several months now. I am at the point where I made a good static website- all in .htm. Now when learning about making forms functional I have come across .php and MySQL. I am seeing the pros and cons of dynamic vs. static webpages, but I don't see them compared in a way that helps me decide which route to take. The overall mandate from my mother is that she wants a website that she can sell her art, and that will be easy for her to update the site with new items for sale and news of upcoming gallery shows. One important point is that she's a bit inept at computers and so it needs to be easy.
Questions:
Can contribute be used for updating databases, or is it mainly/ony for .html files?
Not knocking her art, but I am thinking this will be a not heavily visited website- so are there still benefits in using MySQL?
Uploading images is an important point, is that a damning mark against MySQL?
Is it even possible to sell stuff when the items viewed are static?
I guess those are the big ones I have at the moment.

1. Contribute cannot be used to update databases.
2. I think it depends on how much artwork she has and how quickly it sells. Or, in other words, how often she would need to update the information.
3. I've never tried putting images into a MySQL database so I don't know.
4. Yes.
You could probably teach your mom to update static web pages in Contribute. Some of our web page editors are not very comfortable with computers, but they have found Contribute easy to use because it looks similar to Word and other word processing software. So if your mom does any kind of word processing, she can probably learn to use Contribute. However, if you think she'll have problems with it, then developing a simple php form for her to use to update a database should work.
As I said in my response to #2, whether you go with a database or Contribute (dynamic vs static) depends a lot on how much info you're dealing with. If it's a couple of dozen pieces of artwork, static web pages may be the easiest solution. But if it's in the hundreds, then a database is probably the way to go.

I know that RMAN catalog does not need a separate license.
Does anybody know that if I setup a standby database for the catalog then do I need a separate license or it can be implemented without any license requirement ?

HT4178 Updating NetRestore Images for New Hardware?

Good Afternoon,
I've just taken over Mac Imaging from a colleague who's moved in to another department, we have 2 Mavericks images now, 1 for schools and 1 for corporate. They are easy to create (we build the users and software then capture the image with NetRestore on Mavericks Server) but everytime we get a new MacBook with updated hardware the image fails to go on the new machine (it is backward compatible with no issues).
I come from a Windows backgroud where we use SysPrep to make sure all images are hardware independent - there doesn't seem to be a tool which will do this for Mac, not easily anyway.
My colleague used to create 2 new images completely from scratch every time hardware changed, this to me seems like a waste of time, I would if possible like to see if we could just update the images (via a combo update or something?), run software updates and then recapture it, saving literally a days work every time a new piece of hardware comes out.
Has anyone done this effectively? I know their are 3rd party tools availible that may be able to help but if possible I would like to do it whilst still using NetRestore (our deployment team are familiar with this method).

Who else thinks that Verizon is screwing over existing customers for new?

I don't think it's a coincidence that only new customers can get an iPhone6 right now and existing are getting this ECPD profile error.

Everyone needs to let their employers know how upset they are and hopefully top level executives had this issue. We can only hope that Verizon takes notice when companies move their plans elsewhere

I can't sign in from two seperate computers, despite same account info and same isp. Second computer keeps geeting "not exist" mess for account with same info

Have two computers. One has Thunderbird working fine. Other won't let me sign on to Thunderbird, despite ALL info being exactly the same (incoming server, outgoing server, ports, password, etc) Very frustrating. Any suggestions?

W windows for new HardWare

I need to download the X windows which support the last modern displays for Sol8 where can I find it to download it ?

I had a similar problem with a 945p neo platinum board. Anything I plug into any PCI slot didn't detect. I solved the problem by flashing to the latest BIOS for the board. Now everything seems to be working fine.
Maybe that might work for you?

License Installation for Multiple Hardware Keys in SAP J2EE Engine

I have a question to ask that we have a Failover setup in our Client Enviornment.
But for SAP JAVA System I am seeing a Problem :
Whenever Failover will happen SAP System will be moved to different Hardware box
which has different Hardware Key.
1) In SAP ABAP Systems we can install Multiple Licenses for Multiple HArdware Keys
so that whenever Failover happens , no need to apply license for that Hardware key
2) But in J2ee System under License Adapter , I am not able to see any option under the same
to install another License
Under Licnese Adpater Service , I am able to see license of J2ee-engine_ora , maintanance_ora & Netweaver_ora licneses

Is it possible to copy the same database multiple times simultaneously?

This is the setup of my environment.
I have a 'master' database that contains the full schema plus some pre-populated data such as default settings. When database schema changes are made, they get made to the master database. When a new customer signs up for the service, I make a copy of this
master database (using SMO) that will now be the database containing all of the customer's information. The database is rather large, and the copy operation can take a couple minutes.
Everything works fine as expected, unless I try to provision two new customers at the same time. It appears that Azure only allows for one DB copy operation at a time. Is there a way to allow for copying the same database multiple times simultaneously?
Thanks for you input. I understand that this is likely not the optimal setup, and that there is many better ways of doing this, but I am somewhat heavily invested in the current process and I would like to find out how to make it work if I can.
