Existing Sky Broadband Customer who wants to switc...

Hello everyone,
I am currently using sky broadband and have been for roughly the last 12-18months (not sure on the exact number). I have grown increasingly tired with the poor performance of the broadband they supply so have decided to go for BT Infinity.
First of all I was hoping someone could explain to me how I'd switch providers and what it would entail?
Secondly I was hoping for some general feedback on BT Infinity from some of you guys. I'd love to know if you recommend it or not?

hi there, I have just moved from Sky Unlimited to BT infinity option 2.
Speak to a BT sales person, number on website. They will talk you through everything you need to do.
You will need a MAC number from SKY, and SKY have really sharpened up on this. They used to be difficult handing it over, but now if you ask they will email it to you. You then forward that to the email addy of the salesperson at BT dealing with your call.
Diferences; It costs more money, be in no doubt. But as the old saying goes you get what you pay for. The speed in my case went from 8.4mb down / 1.6 mb up (from a package promising 20 mb) with severe slow downs at weekends.... to 81mb down and 19.6 mb up, with zero weekend slowdown.
I have also been told there will be a significant speed bump again late this year for no extra cost.

Hi I have a customer who wants to know if Win XP will be a supported platform for iAS 7.0, if not what will be iPlanet official line for people using iAS 7.0 on Xp.

All information about iAS 7.0 still requires a non-disclosure agreement. So, there isn't an "official line" yet. (iAS 7.0 hasn't even been formally announced yet.)
If you or your client can contact your local sales team and execute an NDA you should be able to find out the planned platform support.

I would just like to ask another question with regards to my new order for complete Creative Cloud which you suggested. I have now pre-paid for a full year but I’m not
sure when I can start downloading the other APPS as they don’t seem to be updating on my current Creative Cloud account app display. It still shows my old configuration
of products (i.e. Photoshop etc) and my ‘activity stream’ relates back to 9 days ago.
Please let me know how to get my new order activated.

Yet another disgruntled customer who can't connect to a wireless network

I bought a 16Gb iPod Touch yesterday and I think it's a great bit of kit. One of the selling points for me was the ability of the Touch to connect wirelessly to networks so you can imagine how disgruntled I am now when I find this not to be strictly true.
I actually work in IT and am no computer novice so I am extremely frustrated not to be able to get this resolved.
So, first, my router and settings (PC is running XP SP2 but I don't think that's relevant)- it's a Netgear DG834GT wireless router and my ISP is Sky.
The router is set to broadcast SSID and is set for 802.11 g and b communication. I use wireless access control and have added the iPod as a trusted device.
The router is also set to use WPA-PSK encryption.
On the iPod I can see the network and when I try to join it I enter the network key and the ipod tries to join the network. The key/password I am entering is correct and in the right case. The ipod then retuns a message stating that the password is incorrect, but I know that it isn't.
So, I thought I'd try WEP encryption to check the router. Obviously, this uses a different key (much longer) and when I tried to connect the ipod it connected straight away and I was able to use all the web applications, etc.
However, I don't want my network using WEP encryption as it is much less secure and can be hacked quite easily. Using WPA encryption I have a PC and a two laptops connected wirelessly, a PC and a laptop connected via ethernet cable and an Xbox 360 connected via ethernet cable. But the iPod touch? No way!
I have searched many forums, including this one, and this appears to be a very common problem, and one that Apple just don't seem to be addressing. Although I have tried various solutions (spent most of today on this and have tried lots of things), none of them have worked and I have not seen a forum post that solves this.
I have tried:
Router firmware updated
Touch reboot
Router reboot
Server reboot (not that that would make a difference, the network is there without the server)
Touch firmware at latest version
Connected via WEP, re-enabling WPA, disconnecting ipod and then reconnecting
Can't remember what else - loads of things suggested in various posts.
I then rang the Apple help desk and spent 10 minutes explaining the issue to the HD operator who didn't know the difference between WEP and WPA so I was on to a loser there. Eventually I got put through to the technical team who quite simply refused to accept that the ipod was at fault (despite evidence to the contrary (forums, etc) and her own admission that there had been many calls about this), and blamed my router. After 40 minutes on the phone I had got nowhere but agreed to follow up with my ISP.
So I rang Sky technical support and explained the problem. His response (understandably) was that if my network had several wired and wireless devices connected using WPA the logical conclusion was that the ipod was at fault. I tend to agree with him but nevertheless I asked about router firmware. Sky upgrade customer routers with the latest firmware (although it is a version customised by Sky, and not the latest Netgear version) automatically, in the middle of the night, so the firmware is up to date.
So where do I go from here? Apple seem to refuse to accept there is a problem with a flagship product but I intend to pursue this right to the top. I have spent alot of money on a product that is not delivering the functionality I was led to expect. I don't want to return it as I think it's one of the best bits of electronic kit I've ever bought (see how sad I am!), apart from not doing what it says on the tin!
Any help in solving this would be greatly appreciated: not only by me, but by hundreds of others who are experiencing the same problem and being frustrated beyond belief.

A very naive response Krowe. I assume you mean on WEP, rather than WAP.
I think you're missing the point, which is that the iPod Touch does not do as it promises.
Apart from that, you can if you wish, leave your router on WEP security and run the risk of not only having your network compromised and having data intercepted - you don't need to be a secret government agent/spy/renegade/software pirate/convict on the run to be using passwords on various sites for various reasons or storing sensitive information on your PC - but also somebody else using the bandwidth that you have paid for, to do whatever illegal activities (send Spam mail, use stolen credit cards, etc) they wish with an IP address that can't be traced back to them. The IP address is unique and assigned to your connection, once a hacker is on your network he/she has as much control over your PCs as you do.
WEP is not secure (try googling for "hacking wep") and just because I use MAC filtering doesn't mean somebody won't be able to access my network. A hacker will be able to detect what MAC addresses are registered and then use one himself.
Why do you think the WPA protocol was developed?
Anyway, all of this is besides the point. I am not prepared to weaken my network security - all I want to do is get mt iPod Touch working with WPA encryption.

A paying customer who's fed up with your 'customer service'

Let me see - I'm paying customer trying to renew a subscription that was a reduced rate (hence why I'm not doing it online) - and sometimes I actually want to speak to a human being for a sales transaction. I'm also a customer who's purchased your products repeatedly since the early 2000's if not earlier, and have been an enthusiastic supporter of your products.
That's going to stop now - if I can.
In brief, here's 2 data points that make me reconsider if I want to have anything to do with your company:
1.5 hours on hold in a queue AFTER I did the 'Adobe calls you back, estimated wait time of 4 mins'. This is a phone queue - most large companies and organizations have figured out how to make one of these work properly.
I call through to direct sales for Creative Suite and get the 'there is no phone support for this product - please go online, we will now disconnect this call'. You have a phone tree that doesn't allow you to return to the main menu OR speak to a sales rep - in 2014? Really? Is there not a way to cut costs and actually care about your customers? Is shoving all your interactions online the answer? Will your shareholders like the decreased sales that come as a direct result of losing customers due to shoddy customer service practices?
I'm a loyal paying customer, and will resubscribe because I need it for work, but honestly, I'm fed up. Not that I think anything will ever change here - we can complain in the forums, file complaints to the BBB (I know, silly me) and a sympathetic customer service rep will try and help us even though the issues are systemic and involve brand loyalty and reputation. Nothing will change, and I've essentially given up on your brand and products. There is nothing worse than a company who has betrayed its loyalest customers, but in the end, it's your fault for not understanding the basics of customer service. It's ironic that you're in the creativity business. Creativity is about innovating, improving and designing solutions, and creating positive emotion. I feel sorry for a company that cares so little for its customers and is so out of touch with what matters in business, that you've lost the creative spark that caused me to love your brand in the first place. I hope you enjoy your arrogance. We'll continue to use your products, but every time I launch one of them, I'll curse you and hope you fail.

Experience as new BT broadband customer

Some feedback on my BT broadband experience
Previous customer of BE broadband very happy with them except speed and no likelihood of them doing LLU on FTTC
After receiving a letter I ordered Infinity 2, the sign up process worked fine, promising 80 down and 20 up on a line testOnce I got a BT login I turned BT FON OFF, not wanting to be broadcasting my presence on wifi
Openreach (aka BT despite them telling you otherwise) turned up on time despite heavy rain, installed the service which worked immediately.
75Mb downstream 17Mb upstream immediately, 5ms ping - excellent!
Then this morning using wireless sniffer found that 2 new wireless AP's had appeared BT Openzone-H and BT fon. Tried to turn them off - failed. Logged in to BT found FON had been switched back on WITHOUT my permission. Switched it off again.
Found out couldn't disable in router. Then tried turning wireless off completely. Blue light went off (manual says that means wireless is off) but those AP's were still enabled - ie the home hub and manual are lying. Reckoned I would be sending a rather long letter to BT's MD and using tin foil to make an adhoc faraday cage to damp the wireless signals. Three hours later the BT AP's disappeared. Looks like I get no free minutes on BT openzone unless I enable FON - not what I signed up for.
Found out port 161 open (to the public internet not just BT techs), not happy about this. Clearly used to take control of the home hub and to switch FON on and off, God knows what else they can do with it . And an internet link capable of 80/20 and an insecure router taken over could be used to launch effective DDOS attacks etc. without the user knowing.
Completely understand that BT have to cater for people like the gormless students in their advertisement but I feel I've been missold. Now don't trust the home hub or BT at all. On the bright side now have a good legal defence against anything nasty appearing on my computer - I can just blame BT techs.
Posting here as a cautionary message for anyone who wants to know the lowdown - BT Infinity high speed but nasty. Next stage for me is to get the Draytek 2950 VDSL modem / router or similar to restore my control over my systems.

Hi All, just wanna have my rant about my BT experience.. having now been a customer for 6 months i still find it amazing that i stiil have glitches.. first of all.. having had the home hub installed for only a week it broke, ????? after numerous calls about this to the international customer services call centre ( how hard is that to talk and explain to these people ffs ) i finally got a replacement ( 2 weeks later i might add despite numerous different people promising it will be here within 2 working days )
after being without BB for that time was i still being billed?? i dont know because as yet i still cant view my online billing despite following the activation instructions on the e mail they sent on installation.
oh and while im at it did i also want the internet security package at the time of signing up for BT.. well of course I did...but alas and yet again after following all the instructions absolutely nothing ????
I would run the PC health check and there it is telling me my PC isnt protected???? again im i be billed for this ??? free for the first 3 months it says??? Norton now installed
so my rant is over.. all i can say is ROLL ON CONTRACT END

BT Sport for BT Broadband customers who can't get ...

My download speed is around 5.75Mbps and I am an existing customer with YouView. My exchange is showing as enabled for copper multicast.
When I attempt to do an online order for BT Sport (for BT Broadband customers who can't get Infinity), I get the following message:
"Unfortunately, BT Sport on BT TV is not available in your area. The good news is you can still continue to watch via App and Online player which you already have access for."
Any thoughts as to the reason for this? Could it be because the ADSL checker shows I should get 3Mbps where I actually get 5.75Mbps?

If it makes any difference, I can successfully view the multicast test channel on a computer (rtp://234.81.130.4:5802).

Am I able to connect my Airport Extreme direct to my Sky Broadband?

I have Sky Broadband which comes with it's very own router - but I connect my Airport Extreme to this router and use my Airport Extreme for my wireless network.
Reason why I want to know is because I need to Forward Ports on my AE but it is conflicting, and apparently it's because I am in Bridge mode.

Experiences from customer who have converted from MDMP to Unicode

I would be interested in seeing a weblog or article from a customer who has gone through the conversion from MDMP to Unicode on an R/3 system. I would be interested in how the process went, what kind of problems were encountered, how long it took, how many of your custom ABAP programs needed changes, etc.

ok those are the codes now the hard part is making the question appear on the _private JTextField jtfquestions;_ n then having the ans place on the _private JRadioButton jrba, jrbb, jrbc, jrbd;_ then if a correct ans is inputed the JList score should move up like the game itself

You are going to have to turn OFF Wifi on the Sky router device so its just a modem.
String an Ethernet cable off of the Sky router to an Apple Airport/Time Capsule device and have that create a stable WiFi network.
Using WDS protocols you can now add additional Apple Airport expresses as needs be to extend the Wifi signal area.
In theory you should able to extend an existing network however inter-operability between differing manufacturers is flaky at best.
Caveat using extenders Will degrade the performance of your network.
So its going to be more expensive - Need Two Airport devices and you my need support in creating the network (you may have to log in to the Sky provided routers advanced settings in the Java Control Panel and from a web browser to turn off features such as Wifi and IP addressing)
You may be better contacting Sky as they may actually have a compatible network extender (BT certainly do for their Home Broadband routers) available.
