Existing version asks for serial number

I've been running an old version of Photoshop from CS3 since 2007.  Suddenly, after an OS upgrade last year, Photoshop keeps asking me for the serial number.  When I supply the valid serial number, I get a panel that says I must be upgrading and asks for the serial number of that upgrade not allowing me to continue further.  Problem is that I'm not upgrading, don't want to upgrade and shouldn't have had to re-enter the serial number on a product I've been using for years.
How do I get past the assumed upgrade and just use the older version I always had???

    Hi, i recently installed Logic Pro in a my recently adquired Macbook pro (it isnt new - mid 2012), i install it using the mac app store, where it was available for download. I have it installed and working on my main iMac, no problems there, but when i open the application for the first time on the macbook it asks me for a serial number. I dont recall having a serial number for the first installation on the iMac. What do i do? Where can i find that serial number?
    This Logic pro has only been installed in these two computers.
    Will purchasing MAINSTAGE solve this issue?
    any thoughts.?

    Sorry to jump in here Blueberry but...
    Deleting the Logic Pro App and redownloading it alone, normally won't help.. in this circumstance (Unless you manually... completely remove all traces of Logic Pro..which is a major undertaking)
    Instead, look for the following two files...
    Logic 8 license: /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Logic Studio System ID
    Logic 9 license: /Library/Application Support/ProApps/ProAppsSystemID
    and delete both/either of them if found...
    Note: This is the Local Library found in the root of your system HD and not your User Library.. If you don't find a folder named ProApps then you are likely to be looking in the wrong library.
    Restart your Mac and then launch Logic Pro again...
    If it still asks for the serial, then delete the app, recheck for those two files and delete again if found.. and the redownload Logic Pro and reinstall.

    I selected "try" from the adobe CS5 page and when I am in the install window it asks for serial number.
    Why ???
    Now there is option to "try as a trial version" however it will not allow me to progress and select this option.
    Very Frustrating...

    Did you run any other trials already? in any case, try the suggestions listed in the respective section regarding licensing here and also have a look at the specific CS5 stuff.

  • Had trial version of Photoshop, now bought CCloud, but photoshop still asks for serial number

    I had downloaded a free trial of Photoshop, it expired, which led me to buy Creative Cloud so I could use it. Now after purchasing it, it keeps saying "trial expired" and wants a serial number, but every other app works ok without having to load a serial number. Also, have been on hold with customer service for well over 2 hours. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling/downloading Photoshop multiple times (just like the chat help suggested) yet it still asks for serial number since trial has expired to open Photoshop. Help?

    I finally managed to get Customer Support on a Chat line.  There is no registation for CC products but you do have to activate your download/subscription using your Adobe ID and password.  That removes the request for a registration/serial number.
    I am now on line and happy.  Sad it takes so much sweat and frustration to get these simple things done.

    I purchased the cc photography package. I was able to download and open Photoshop but unable to open lightroom. It ask for a serial number. I tried the trouble shooting tips still having trouble.

    If the above mentioned steps have not helped , can you please try the below mentioned article. Although its for LR3 but its still effective for the newer version .

  • ARD asking for Serial Number after Upgrade to OSX 10.9 and ARD 3.7?

    I bought ARD 3.6.1 back in 2012 from MAC Store. Yesterday, I decided to upgrade to OSX Mavericks and the upgrade forced ARD to update to 3.7 from 3.6.1 and now ARD is asking for serial number...  Never had a Serial Number since I bought it from Mac Store. Anyone with same problem?

    Not sure how that would happen but you should be able to revert to the Mac App Store version with the following steps:
    1. Launch the App Store app
    2. Go to the Purchases secton and verify that Apple Remote Desktop is showing in your list
    3. Assuming it's in your list, delete Remote Desktop.app from /Applications
    4. Verify that Remote Desktop.app is not installed on any other mounted volumes using Spotlight
    5. If it is installed then either unmount those volumes or delete the app from those other locations
    6. Go back to the Purchases section of the App Store app
    7. If Apple Remote Desktop is shown as "Installed" then select "Reload Page" from the "Store" menu
    8. The entry for Apple Remote Desktop should now give you the option to "Install"
    9. Click "Install"
    After installation you should have the correct Mac App Store version that does not prompt for a serial number.

    Can any one help me being able to download LR as I've purchased photoshop and lightroom, but i'm still unable to open lightroom it keeps asking for serial number and won't open.

    Uninstall the serial-number LR5, the one you have installed, now, then quit the CC Desktop application (gear/quit or right-click quit), then restart the CC Desktop application, which will rescan and see that LR is no longer installed, and will offer LR in the CC Desktop apps list with an Install button next to it, so install that version.

  • Keeps asking for serial number since upgrading

    Just took the plunge and despite some dodgy reviews, I upgraded elements via a disc install. Now each time I open it, it asks for serial number and assumes I am still on trial. This despite my account showing it is registered. Also it has up graded and not brought any plug ins with it to the newer versions.
    Think I will just stick to Lightroom completely and write this version off.
    Any advice on sorting this buggy upgrade out?

  • Encore CS6 asks for serial number? I have a Cloud membership!

    Why would this happen? I know Encore CC can't work with Premiere CC so i installed Premiere CS6 & uninstalled it and left Encore CS6. NOW ENCORE ASKS FOR A SERIAL NUMBER! Saying it's a demo version!!

    Please then use your web Browser  address http://www.adobe.com/  and sign in with your Adobe User ID and Password to your account the has your Subscription and use https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html capture the page which shows you have a subscription like I showed you I have.
    Open Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application use the APP tab and capture that scree to show Photoshop is installed and up to date like I did. Capture that screen. Show us you have installed Photoshop and its up to date.
    Open Photoshop and use menu Help it should show tha its activated because there will be a menu item Sign Out. If it is Sign In, Sign in  using the account that has the subscription the one you used above to Activate Photoshop.
