Existing website content

I have made a website (in a program called Coffeecup, basically a standard HTML editor) some time ago on my Windows PC. That site is comfortabley hosted on a UNIX server. I now works with a MAC and need to work on it again. i do not want to use Windows on my MAC anymore, because I want to become a MAC-Man. Can I simply get this website in my iWEB to work on it with that and use some kind of content management from within IWEB and how do I import the file in iWEB. Everytime I start iWEB it keeps offering me the templates as it assumes I have not made a site yet.....
Please help
Johan

iWeb cannot import any site so you will have to re-build your site in iWeb if you want to use it without running Windows on your Mac.

  • Remove existing website content and replace with iweb 08 site

    Hi
I have an existing website (not iweb) on personal domain name that needs complete overhaul - I want to replace it with an iweb 08 site using same personal domain name. I am new to the mac world having converted a few months ago - also don't know html code etc.
How do I remove the existing web content to make way for the iweb site using the same domain name - do I download folder using cyberduck and delete content from public_html folder - will this clear the way for new site to be published via iweb and .mac ??
    Any help and guidance appreciated
    Thanks

I think what you are asking might be better put this way:
"When published, will my current Domain name automatically go to the new site, and if not, what do I need to do to make it so?"
The answer is no, it won't. If Web City is also your Domain name registrar, then you will either have to transfer it for use with .Mac, or forward the Domain to the .Mac url.
I have not personally transferred any of my Domain names to .Mac, but I don't believe it is hard to do. You can go into System Preferences on your machine, click on the .Mac icon, navigate to "Account info/Personal Domain", and go from there.
There are many here who have already done this so I'm sure someone will chime in and lend a hand if you run into difficulties.

  • Adding a single page to pre-existing website

I currently have a website running on Amazon S3 and want to add a page to the domain using Muse and do not want to replace the pre-existing website.
    Example:
    Current web address:
    subsite.mywebsite.com
    Desired address of Muse-created site:
    subsite.mywebsite.com/musesite.html
subsite.mywebsite.com does not need to be modified in any way—my clients just need to be able to access musesite.html via a link using my brand's domain. Can this be accomplished using BusinessCatalyst provided hosting? If so, how can I accomplish this?

    Hi Joseph,
You need to create the page in Muse and then export the html to a local folder on your computer and then upload the exported content on the root folder of your existing business catalyst site. You will not be able to use the web forms with this approach.
If you can host the site in a sub directory, then you can create the page in the Muse and then publish directly to a sub-directory on the root, this way you will be able to use the web forms.

  • Need details on how to move existing website to Dreamweaver CS6 and to Business Catalyst web hosting

    Hi All,
I need assistance with transferring an existing website  - imagessays.com  -  (designed with Dreamweaver CS4) to my Creative Cloud CS6 account - and to web hosting by CS6 Business Catalyst.
…  step-by-step instructions would be most useful.  I've got the Dreamweaver CS6 onDemand book, etc.,  ...  I guess I’m just not enough of a geek to work my way through the steps and to get my site back moving ahead online.
Beyond that, need advice as to how to repair a couple of non-funcitonal links on the site (check out imagessays.com to see a couple of pics that don't work).  I'm looking forward to uploading more content and to do major upgrade to the site, but am unable to do so ... need technical support re how to do these simple (should be) things.
Since setting up the website over 5 years ago, I have migrated from Dreamweaver CS3 to CS4 .... and now to CS6 ...  and from a Dell XPS 450 running Windows XP to a Mac Pro desktop running Mac OS X.
These changes of version / machine / OS  have separated me from the ability to do the one simple thing that I need to do with this straightforward website, that is:  upload new pitchers and writins .
I look forward to assistance and support for this.
    Thanks,
    Jim

I'd open a local copy of the site in Dreamweaver CS6 and use the steps described in the video
Also, we have Dreamweaver and Business Catalyst (host) specific forums too. They should be able to help with specifics if you get stuck.

    Hi,
You can publish your site to Business Catalyst in few simple steps. Please check out these videos :

  • Integrating Muse into an existing website

    Hi There
i currently use muse to add landing pages to our existing website but i have come across a few problem regarding integration and was wondering if anyone could help. The way i integrate muse into our website is to host all of the files on our server then re-link the html to point to the files. the HTML for the landing pages are actually inserted into a a div tag basically its a website within a website but the html has to be pasted into our cms system for it to work. I have come across a few problems out line below:
The muse code interferes with the main website code and changes all of the menu font etc.
an error message appears saying files are missing etc (if i remove the warning code this disapears but im presuming there is a warning for a reason)
when i remove the error message the light box function disapears
the main website has a drop down feature on the tabs above the muse page but this doesnt respond on the page.
If you could advise on integrating this i would be very grateful. an example of what i mean can be found at http://arco.co.uk/vinnietest and the html code i use is below:
    <div style="width:996px; margin:-10px -10px 0 -10px;">
    <style>

  • How to convert existing website to fluid grid in dreamweaver cc

Is there a way to convert an existing website to a fluid grid site in Dreamweaver cc

Nope.  There's no magic button.  You must start over.
Build mobile layout first.  Then tablet.  Finally desktop.
When you get your layout all situated and working well in all device widths, copy and paste content from old site into new layout.

  • I want to know detail of transferring existing website(live) into Cloud Host site facility.

    Dear Creative Cloud Support,
Right now I am one of your customer, and already using Adobe web premium product since CS3, right now I am using your CS5 web premium.
And has intention to subscribe for Adobe Cloud.
I am interested to know more detail about your host site facility in Adoce Cloud Host Site (5).
In relation with its features and maximum capacity 20 GB as a member.
    My questions:
1.Is this facility only for new domain name or can be used for existing website (live)?
2.Do we transfer a whole website content into this Host Site? Or only a link?
3.If it a facility similar principle like web hosting, what database engine, and language it support?
Maybe my questions are not relate at all with your Host Site terminology, if so please explain more detail about it or direct me to read your article of how step by step we can utilize this service.
Thank you so much for your attention, and I am looking forward to hear from you at my email: [email protected]
    Sincerely,
    Budhi Suwardi.

    Hi Budhi,
1.Is this facility only for new domain name or can be used for existing website (live)?
If you already have a domain you can associate it with 1 of the 5 sites included with the BC web hosting services included with Creative Cloud
2.Do we transfer a whole website content into this Host Site? Or only a link?
You can create and publish an entire site, this is typically done with either Dreamweaver or Muse.
3.If it a facility similar principle like web hosting, what database engine, and language it support?
The service that does the hosting is Business Catalyst and the included service is webBasics. This FAQ has info about the service.

  • Need help adding a page to an existing website

Hey guys....I'm, as the subject states, a newbie to Dreamweaver.  I am needing to add a page to an existing website.  Simple enough...or so it seems...anyway, I went to the site, copied the source coding, went back to Dreamweaver, pasted into the code box, and up pops the page I copied.  Great!  So then I make my changes so that the page states what I want it to say, link it to what I need to hyperlink it to, then try to upload the page back onto the server....and here's where I get lost...I go to the web to check the site, and the page that I copied and made my own is not there.  The link didn't work and the page is nowhere to be found.  I don't mind whatsoever telling any of the what the site is (not sure if I can do that here), but any help would be very grateful!!!  I'm not sure what I am doing wrong obviously.  Many, many thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
    Jim

At the moment the link you refer to goes to the file ashby.php
    http://www.superiorcareplus.com/ashby.php?s=1
Do you have a page named ashby.php in your site folder?
If you do copy that and make the changes you require. Save it as whisperer.php
Now you need to change the link from ashby.php to whisperer.php
    <div class="leftMenu"><a class="menuLeft" href="ashby.php?s=1">Becoming an Alzheimer's Whisperer</a></div>
    So it looks like this:
    <div class="leftMenu"><a class="menuLeft" href="whisperer.php">Becoming an Alzheimer's Whisperer</a></div>
I'm not sure if it will work because the link has a variable (?s=1) after it but as the links all go to different pages the information probably isn't being fetched from a database. In other words all the pages appear to exist as individual pages. I don't know what 's' the variable refers to.

  • How do I replace existing website with one created with muse and hosted by business catalyst

My client has a website / URL in use.  I have designed a new website using adobe Muse that will replace their existing website, and I would like to use business catalyst to host the new site.  What do I need to do to transfer the URL to business catalyst, and post the new site live?

    Hi
You can use their BC login details and use them , which on publish the site will be under their account.
Please change the BC login from Edit > Preferences > Publish > Switch Accounts , for Mac it would Adobe Muse > Preferences
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • What is the easiest way to put a photo gallery into an existing website?

I have an existing website www.metzartonline.com.
On the Gallery page, I want to include a simple photo gallery where I can showcase paintings.  I would like a simple (theres that word again) grid that shows the photos as thumbnails.  When you click on the thumbnail, it shows the image in a larger size with a small caption.
I've tried using Bridge which was very easy to set up but I'm at a loss on how to integrate that into the webpage.  After lots of research, I've come to the conclusion that integrating that into an existing website just insn't that easy to do.
I purchased the Classic Photo Gallery from Flash Development 24 because it was described as "easy to use."
It is not easy to use.
The steb by step guide for one, isn't even written in proper English.  I've tried to work with it an I've emailed support several times.
I'm ready to give that up.
I just want to make a simple gallery that I can integrate into an existing website.
Can anyone suggest the easiest program to use?
    Please?

You can use Adobe Bridge (it is built into Dreamweaver) and Adobe Fireworks.  Once you have Dreamweaver open, go to File and you will see "Browse in Bridge".  Adobe Fireworks is a separate program and must be installed to make this work.  The instructions below are step by step and I was able to follow them even though I am not overly experienced in Dreamweaver.  I created these with Dreamweaver CS4 but the instructions below should work for CS5 as well.
The first address here is to create a photo gallery with the Adobe Output Module which you open in Bridge.

The second address explains how to incorporate the gallery into a Dreamweaver page.

Here is my wife's website for her art:   www.tanglewoodbrushstrokes.com
You may want to look at the galleries there first to see if they are what you are looking for.
There are two disadvantages to these galleries.  One is that to add or subract images requires creating a new gallery.  The good side is that this can be done fairly quickly once you become accustomed to how they are created.  I can do a new one now in a half hour or less.  To make it easier, you can go to split screen once you have the new gallery made and substitute the html for the new gallery in place of the old one without recreating your page parameters for the gallery.
Secondly, the galleries created in Fireworks use flash technology so they will not work on Iphones or Ipads.  To correct this on my wife's website, I upgraded to CS5.5 in order to use HTML5.  I am going through the tutorials for creating HTML5 web pages now.  Once I have completed them, I will be re-doing my wife's site.  I haven't yet figured out how I will create and install the galleries yet.  I have posed a question about albums for HTML5 on this forum.  Using HTML5 appears to be more complex than what I have experienced in the past, but we will see.
Hope this helps.  Don't get too frustrated when you go through the tutorials above.  Take your time and you will be able to figure it out.  If I could do it, so can you.  I am a 65 year old retiree who only began working with Dreamweaver about three years ago.  My work experience was not in the computer field although we bought our first computer, an Apple IIE, in 1980.

  • Add an existing website to Muse

Hello, I am new to Muse, however, I build sites in Dreamweaver and WordPress so not new to building sites. How do I add an existing website to Muse to work on? Site in question was built by someone and we have access to all the files but not sure how to get the site files into Muse to work on.....??
Thanks much in advance for your help!

Thanks! The only file I see on the server to pull down is muse_manifest.xml.
I checked in all the folders too. See image below.

  • Transfer an existing Website to Adobe Muse

    Hello friends!
I have a new question: It is possible, to transfer an existing website (with all the HTML and CSS documents with the help of the FTP server) to Adobe Muse? Or do I must create all the website again?
    Thanks!

    Hi Otis--
No, it's not possible, and yes, you'll need to recreate. I suppose the upside is that you should already have all of your assets ready, but I know it's more work, unfortunately. You can't pull in sites built outside of Muse into it, and you can't open up and edit Muse sites outside of Muse (easily, anyway).
    Good luck!
