Exit code 9 on installation

Hi there,
A user of the application I develop is struggling with installation. They're running OS X 10.6 with a 1.5.3 installer. Here's the contents of their installation log files:

I looked up the runtime installer exit codes, but I don't see any reference to an exit code of 9.
Any idea what this exit code means?

It looks like they're doing a silent install, but the app already exists. Try uninstalling the app first

    Hey Ned, thanks much for your time.   I disabled nearly every service other than adobe, restarted, reinstalled and still got the following.  It is a little different this time...

  • Exit Code: 7 - installation of CS5 on new hard drive

    Hey there,
    after exchanging a broken secondary hard drive without a proper deinstallation/deactivation of my cs5 production premium, i have trouble now with the new installion on a new hard drive in Windows.
    First thing i tried was deleting all CS5-related entries from the registry, but that didn't help.

    Thank your for your reply.  I am running windows 8.1.  And there is a huge mess going on.  I was on with Adobe tech support all morning and they cannot get photoshop, premiere to update.  Then they tried to uninstall, and it would not uninstall.  They renamed the directories and did a direct reinstall and it failed.  They changed permissions on directories.  There are no viruses or malware.  I run cccleaner, pcmatic and scan all the time.  This process also corrupted my purchased licensed version of Fireworks CS6.  Now I cannot even get that to install.  We have run the cleaner over and over.  So finally I manually cleaned the registry of selected Adobe products and removed everything from the hard drive.  I am now running scans because they had me disable my pc matic and windows firewall temporarily while they worked on my pc.  I am a graphic designer and I have a project in the waiting.  I need to have fireworks, flash photoshop and premiere working but I don't think this is possible.

    Restarted the computer and re-installed the entire Adobe Suite but received the same error message again. Adobe Flash professional runs fine also, so from what I have read at Installation error DW050, DW020 | CS5.5 | Windows the adobe flash player error is irrelevant.
