Exiting PP closes but, program still running, danger Will Robinson

This was an issue on the demo version of Production Pro which expired and since then I've loaded Master Suite demo to continue until my hard copy of Production Pro arrives.
The issue is that initially, I was unaware of the program not closing down in backgorund and after a few in and out episodes would get a hard boot safety shut down because resources were maxed and the CPU was getting to critical mass heat, shutting off abrubtly.
I reported it to Adobe in the sky and just wondered of anyone else has had this happen? Or could point to what is causing the ghosting allocation to stay active?
It went on for a couple of weeks and was not the best Mojo for the two SATA drives but we eventually isolated why the laptop was overheating.
The new demo is doing the same thing so I hit control alt delete to close the background manually after exiting the program normally.
The machine:W7P,  i7, 500 GB 5400 SATA, 2TB eSATA 7200, below the Mercury minimum 749 with an 500mbs GeForce, 380M.
I hope the hard copy will overcome this but forwarned is forebearance.
Some ultra bug no doubt that will be sorted out down the line.
Thanks in advance for any noodeling,
Rob

When you're running the demo, you're running version 5.0.0--the initial release. There have been three feature-and-bug-fix releases since then. You'll be able to update to the last released version once you've registered the software. Though I can't say for certain, I suspect this issue would go away once you're running 5.0.3 (current version).
Post back after you've installed that, if it doesn't correct the problem.

  • HT3964 I reset SMc but fan still running fast

I reset smc but fan still running fast.

First, you only need to post your question once ... you can update that post by responding to it.
If an SMC reset doesn't fix a fast fan, there are several things you can do. First, find the original gray-faced OS X disks that came with the mini and run the extended hardware test, to see if any sensors are failing.
Next, install istat pro from http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatpro/ so you can monitor temps to see if something is running hot.
Finally, load the Activity Monitor (on your hard drive in applications/utilities) and see if any programs are consistenly running more than 30% to 50%+ of the CPU.

  • Imported old computer via time machine into new 2012 macbook pro, but its still running ilife 09 instead of 11?

imported old computer via time machine into new 2012 macbook pro, but its still running ilife 09 instead of 11?

I am assuming you had iLife 09 on the old computer - when you moved everything over, that came along with it.
I also have older versions of iLife (on install disks) and just recently got a new 2012 Macbook Pro. I noticed that iMovie 11, iPhoto and Garageband (I think) are listed in my Mac App Store Purchases with a notation to "accept". So you might want to check MAS to see if the apps are sitting there.
Now, I have chosen not to accept them for now for two reasons: I have iLife 11 on a disk and prefer that rather than having it tied to MAS/Apple ID and as long as I have my disk version installed, I also still have iDVD which I use a lot. I'm not sure if "accepting" those three from MAS would wipe out my iLife 11 installs including iDVD (which would be unacceptable for me). So, since I already have the latest version, I've opted to ignore the "accept" and, in fact, will leave it like that - if I ever sell this machine, the buyer can then accept them if they want with their own Apple ID. So before accepting the apps (if they are listed in MAS), you might want to check to make sure that your iLife install isn't wiped out - that is, if you have iDVD and want to keep it.

Because Firefox sucks that way. I have the same problem. Royal pain in the @$$. I have to use the task manager to duck out of it, or you have to w8 & count to 10...lol. Stupid program.

    Hello,
Often, the Firefox app will close, but the underlying Windows process will not and cannot be stopped via Task Manager. When this happens, Firefox can no longer be used...the system must be rebooted. This happens especially when many apps are running but even though there are plenty of memory resources available.
I have tried to find if something is using Firefox in the background, but have no way to know what that would be.
Their are no apparent viruses detected.
Firefox is version v5.0 and occurred in earlier release.
    System is Windows 7 (64bit).

well, it's not the same hardware and it's a bit different.
I managed to pass that stage somehow but I still have a problem
I don't use the built-in creator tool that comes with Spyrus as it doesn't know how to append a pre-staged media that was created by SCCM that should apply the Windows file system to a second partition and the WinPE to the first partition.
I managed to do everything. my only problem is that the WTGCreator that comes with SCCM 2012 R2 creates the 350MB partition with FAT32 file system.
when I boot from the device I get the WinPE, I can choose a task sequence and then it fails when trying to apply the wim file. the error tells me that the 350MB partition is FAT32 which is not supported (even though it chooses the second partition, which
is all the rest of the disk space)
what I did was adding another task that converts the 32 Fat partition to an NTFS partition and then the process continues and finishes successfully! but that's a workaround.
I'm trying to make this process as smooth as possible without having additional steps

Troublesome need to log off between switching from Yahoo to another website with message that program is still running.

Terminate Firefox from the "Processes" tab of the Windows Task Manager not the "Applications" tab. Then select firefox.exc and use the right-click context menu to "End Process" or use the "End Process" button on the selected process.
Windows 7 keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+Shift+Esc" will go directly to the Windows Task Manager and reopen the last tab that you had open.

I don't see why you feel you have to exit Firefox to get out of one website to immediately use another website. Very impractical. Does this have anything to do with desktop icons or not using tabs?

  • Should i let Main() exit while worker threads are still running?

what is the Java Best Programming Practices for the issue of having the
public static void main(String[] args) { ... }exit before the worker Threads that is starts exit?
letting main() exit first, or making it wait, has no practical difference.
yet, when others look at my code, what should it look like?
should i thread.join() on all worker threads, before main() exits?
imo: it appears to be bad style to let the main() exit while my session with the jvm is, essentially, still running.
yet, it is extra code that is not necessary.

    Strike that. Reverse it.
    i.e.
    >
    1) Have main join the threads, and comment that you're doing so simply to preserve the notion of main as the umbrella for the program.
    2) Make the threads daemons, and comment at the end of main that the daemon threads, and hence the program, may still run after main has completed.
    >
    should instead say:
    1) Make the threads daemons, and have main join the threads, and comment that you're doing so simply to preserve the notion of main as the umbrella for the program.
    2) Make the threads non-daemons (the default), and comment at the end of main that the non-daemon threads, and hence the program, may still run after main has completed.

  • Finder will not let me log out or shut down. just updated to Lion 10.7.5 Says programs still running

I have just updated my Macbook(late 2009) to Lion OS X 10.7.5 and when I go to logout or shut down the Finder icon starts jumping. I click on it and a popup window says, "The Finder can't quit because some operations are still in progress"  - "You can cancel or stop the operations, and then try again". I go to the Dock and everything is closed. Wait! I go to Mac App Store and iTunes Stores. I log out of both of them. I try to log out and shut gown again and Finder still won't let me. Same message.
Is anyone else out there experiencing this. Can anyone help me? What is still running? How to find out what is still running? I dreaded this ever since the announcement of ML.

    Do a PRAM reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Immediately press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.Continue holding the keys down until the computer restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • MC CS5.5 - Exit Code 6 but it still works ...

I've had three attempts to install my Master Collection CS5.5 upgrade now - Windows 7 SP1.  The first time I realised I left Kaspersky AV running - MC installed but I got an Exit Code 6, uninstalled, then reinstalled with KAV paused - Exit Code 6 again.  Then I tried installing in the minimised state - same again though, installed but got an Exit Code 6.
    - 0 fatal error(s), 91 error(s), 8 warning(s)
One error seems to relate to the Flash Player plugin, but the vast majority are Adobe Encore CS5.1 Library 5.1.0.0  and are 'ERROR: DS012: LocalizeFile:Localized string not found for locale 'en_GB'  and then different bracketed numbers after each.
I have launched and run each application ... not used it as such, but launched and messed about a bit ... superficially they seem to be working.
So the question is, do I ignore these errors and keep uninstalling and reinstalling with whatever things disabled, or do I take the view that if it looks like it's working, it probably is?
This is a new install of Win 7 on a new drive, and other than Lightwave, the MC is the only thing I have installed ... well, and Kasperksy AV 2012.
I've read some other threads and articles on this, and the Adobe help docs from as recently as June this year, so clearly there are problems.
I'm posting the log file, but omitting most of the locale 'en_GB' errors to reduce the length of it.
I'm also uncertain if the log is reporting that the Windows Installer is not working properly - Error 1722 - though again that appears to be the Flash Player plugin problem.
    Thanks for any help.
    Julian.

It seems that the Flash Player being preinstalled is the cause of all these errors, in this case, but that they are all actually erroneous ... is that correct?
Because if so, I'm not seeing that on the main FAQ for installer issues for the Creative Suites, although in fairness, there are doubtless many, many other errors that are genuine.

  • Display turn black, but computer still running

I woke my computer up from sleep mode to check my am email of mine. As I was about to log-in to my email online my display turned black. I thought the computer shut down completely, but I could still hear it running. I just shut down my computer with the button on the back of the diplay and then started it up again.
My computer seems fine now, but I was just wondering why that happened? I've had my computer for a few months now and I've never had this problem. I just installed new memory about a week ago..might that have something to do with this happening?
    Thanks.

Intermittent faults such as that are difficult to diagnose at distance so the best thing is to get Apple / your supplier to check it over. Apart from the RAM there is nothing you can do to the electrical / mechanical side of an iMac. If it were a software problem it would show more regularly.
If you haven't already purchased it get AppleCare, that will cover the machine for 3 years from the ORIGINAL purchase date and as you are having problems would be a worthwhile investment. You must purchase it before the original 1 years warranty expires.
