EXMON "exchange server user monitor" for Exchange 2013?

Hello,
it Looks like EXMON is not supported for Exchange 2013. Is this correct or can i use it with Server 2012 R2 and Exchange 2013 (CU6++)  ?
Is there any alternative to check high log growth rate to see which user is responsable for this?
Thanks for Feedback.
best,
Martin

Hi Martin,
Yes, ExMon is not supported for exchange 2013.
Except the suggestion above, here is an exclusive application for you reference, it could retrieve statistics for all or selected mailboxes in a specified database and server, it may give you some help:
Exchange Server Mailbox Statistics Tool - v1.6.2
The tool retrieves mailbox statistics which includes Folder Count, Total Items, Associated Items, Deleted Items, Total Items Size, Deleted Items Size, Oldest Item Date, Newest Item Date, Items Age, Mailbox Age and Quota details. It also includes an additional
option named "Archive Statistics Planner" which will let you search mailboxes and provide statistics report with specific dates.

    Hi,
Most (if not all) of the bigger vendors has a product that supports Exchange 2013, so look them up.
Exchange 2013 has some Anti-Spam and Anti-Malware Protection functionality that you can read about here:

  • Upgrading Exchange Server 2003 to 2010 to 2013 is worth???

Hello there, I am planning to upgrade about 30 users from exchange server 2003 to 2010 and finally to 2013. Is it worth to upgrade in this way because this steps are hard and very time consuming. What if, if I just copy all the user mailboxes directly to
exchange server 2013 and configure 2013 as a new exchange server and decommission old exchange server 2003?
How to copy user mailboxes to fresh exchange server 2013?
    Please help me out.
    Thankx

Yes, Export the PST from User Mailbox and Import it into Exchange 2013 Mailbox. But the problem is, you can't install Exchange 2013 in your current Exchange 2003 environment.
Only option is to install Exchange 2010 first and migrate all the users to Exchange 2010. Also Replicate the Public Folders too(If you are using)
Decommission Exchange 2003 entirely. Install Exchange 2013 SP1 and Migrate the User to Exchange 2013.

  • When sending e-mail messages to a mail-enabled public folder that have been replicated from old Exchange Server 2000/2003/2007, Exchange Server 2010 environment mails are rejected with NDR.

Hi, I would like to share with you issue that I’ve solved regarding mail-enabled PF that migrated from Exchange 2000/2003/2007 to 2010, I’ve searched & contacted my MVP leader – there’s no official KB regarding this issue right
now, so I’m posting here in order to share this among others.
Note: There’s article(s) that talked about PF replication from Exch2000/2003/2007 to 2010 – this is the same issue as well.
    Symptoms
E-mail messages that been sent to mail-enabled public folder in Exchange Server 2010 environment rejected with the following NDR:
“#< #5.2.0 smtp;554 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:ObjectNotFoundException; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message The Active Directory user wasn’t found. ObjectNotFoundException: The Active Directory
    user wasn’t found.> #SMTP#”
Sometimes Exchange Server 2010 is documented as well Event ID 1020 on the Event Viewer with this information:
    “Log Name: Application
    Source: MSExchange Store Driver
    Event ID: 1020
    Level: Error
    Description:
The store driver couldn’t deliver the public folder replication message "Hierarchy ([email protected])" because the following error occurred: The Active Directory user wasn't found.”
    Cause
In an environment where Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 previously existed, and all those servers have been removed, there is a chance that an Administrative Group (First Administrative Group or another custom Administrative
Group) remains with a Servers container, but no servers inside it.
During replication, when the Exchange 2010 Store Driver sees the empty Servers container in Active Directory, it's expecting a System Attendant object inside the container and when it is not found the error occurs.
    Resolution
To work around the issue, delete the empty Servers container. This can't be done through Exchange System Manager. Use the ADSI Edit tool to remove it using the following steps:
Warning If you use the ADSI Edit snap-in, the LDP utility, or any other LDAP version 3 client, and you incorrectly modify the attributes of Active Directory objects, you can cause serious problems. These problems may require you to reinstall Microsoft Windows
2003 Server, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Exchange 2010 Server or both Windows and Exchange. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems that occur if you incorrectly modify Active Directory object attributes can be solved. Modify these attributes
    at your own risk.
    1.
Start the ADSI Edit MMC Snap-in. Click Start, then
Run, and type adsiedit.msc, and then click OK.
    2.
Connect & Expand the Configuration Container [YourServer.DNSDomainName.com], and then expand
    CN=Configuration,DC=DNSDomainName,DC=com.
    3.
Expand CN=Services, and then CN=Microsoft Exchange, and then expand
    CN=YourOrganizationName.
    4.
You will see an empty Administrative Group. Expand the
    CN=YourAdministrativeGroupName.
    5.
    Expand CN=Servers.
    6.
Verify there are no server objects listed under the
    CN=Servers container.
    7.
Right click on the empty CN=Servers container and choose
    Delete.
    8.
Verify the modification, and try to send again the E-mail to the mail-enabled public folder.

Sounds like you are looking in the wrong Administrative Group container which is why you are seeing your Exchange 2010 servers in there.
When you install Exchange 2003 only you will see a container named by default as "CN=First Administrative Group" container. But this could be named anything if you changed the Organization Name on the installation when you installed the first
Exchange 2003 server into the domain/forest.
You will notice that when you install Exchange 2010 part of the AD setup is to create a new configuration container and is named by default "CN=First Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)".
So it sounds like you are not looking in the right location within ADSIEdit.
You may find the following article also helpful for this issue which is the same resolution:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2012/05/17/empty-cn-servers-container-causing-issues-with-public-folders-on-small-business-server-2011.aspx
I recommend though that you ensure your Exchange 2003 servers are fully uninstalled or no longer present in your environment before you go deleting the Servers container though.. The following Microsoft article will help with this:

    Hi Ali,
Yes, you can. Please upgrade your Exchange 2010 SP1 server roles in the following order: Client Access, Hub Transport, Unified Messaging, Mailbox, Edge Transport. What's more, please note that when you install a Service Pack or update rollup on a server
that's a DAG member, several services will be stopped during the installation, including all Exchange services and the Windows Cluster service.

  • Exchange Online Protection Standalone for Exchange 2013 On-premise

    hello:
I'm about to deploy Exchange server 2013 on-premise for my company and we are going to subscribe EOP standalone. After reading the description from technet

    1. Do I need to have ADFS,DirSync server ready on my local datacenter to synchronize user with EOP?
    2. I just need basic spam filtering feature, will EOP work with Exchange 2013 on-premise without having ADFS & DirSync?

  • Forefront Server Protection 2010 for Exchange: Notifications behaving differently on E2007/2010

    Hi all and happy holidays:
I have this particular situation with two client FSPE implementations recently.
I got one one client with a single E2007 server with FSPE v.11.0.713.0 and another one with a single E2010 server with FSPE v.11.0.713.0. I configured 'Keyword Filter Match' email notifications to Administrators and, to Internal Senders notifying them
not to use certain keywords in the future. The configuration of the notifications is exaclty the same and is using the following fields in the body of the message:
%Product% has detected a blocked keyword match on a message you sent.
          Filter Name: "%Filter%"
          State:  "%State%"
          Subject line:  "%Message%"
          Sender:  "%ISAddress%%ESAddress%"
          Recipients: "%IRAddresses%%ERAddresses%"
          Scan job:  "%ScanJob%"
          Location:  "%Company%/%Site%/%Server% (%Folder%)"
Certain kewords are not allowed through this mail system as they may be offensive to others. Please refrain from using this word(s) in the future. If you believe you received this in error, contact your system administrator.
Notifications are working great, detecting when a user is Internal Sender  and delivering the message correctly but here's the issue:
    1. On the E2007 system, when the user/administrator get the notification from FSPE, the %Filter% field it displays the actual keyword that that was used:
Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server has detected a keyword filter match.
Filter name:  "English Profanity: <RealUglyWord>;English Profanity: <RealUglyWord>"
    2. On the E2010 system however, when the user/administrator get the email notifications, the %Filter% field only displays the name of the keyword list:
Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server has detected a keyword filter match.
          Filter Name: "English Profanity"
No biggie you may think but, the issue is that the user has no way to know for sure which words should not use. Of course they can call the Administrator but this will cause uneeded calls to the helpdesk IMO. In the case of English profanity, it may
be obvious but, in the case of other keyword lists, it may not be so obvious. For example, I also have another keyword list blocking racist terms. To some people the word 'gringo' may be offensive, but not to others. IMO, it should not be used
at all, and I am hispanic. In any case, the user needs to know for sure which words are being blocked and not to use it IAW company policy and know that the message was not delivered. Similar keyword lists are in use on both clients for "Spam-like
language', 'Sexual harassment', etc, etc so, this is an important client requierement and part of their 'Suitable Working Envrionment' policy and enforcement.
Hope anybody has any ideas on how to fix it.
    Regards,
    Fred Larracuente

  • Exchange Server Dynamic quorum for two AD site

    Hello All,
I have some query regarding the Dynamic Quorum issue:
The environment is two Exchange 2013 in first AD site and another Exchange server 2013 on second AD site. So, total 3 node exchange server.
    1. Can i configure DAG with dynamic quorum on this scenario?
    2. If first site is totally down then second site can work without any interruption.
    3. Is there any need manual switchover in this scenario?
    4. OWA and outlook can work if first site down?
    5. If first site down then second site exchange server db can automatically mounted.
    Thanks,
    Parvez

    Hi,
    1. Can i configure DAG with dynamic quorum on this scenario?
By default dynamic quorum will be enabled once the node is added to the DAG
    2. If first site is totally down then second site can work without any interruption.
1.sequential failure on dag nodes - first node in dag will go down and after a short time second node will go down .
2.simultaneous failure on dag nodes - majority of the nodes will go down at a time .On your case majority is two.
Dynamic quorum will support sequential failure of nodes and it will not support the simultaneous failure .
So on your case if you perform manual sequential failure on the dag nodes you can make utilize the dynamic quorum feature .
Note : Please refer the below mentioned blog which will give you a good clarity.Like you they have also demonstrated with three nodes.
    Reference
    blog : http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2013/high-availability-recovery/exchange-2013-dag-dynamic-quorum-part2.html
    3. Is there any need manual switchover in this scenario?
Yes it is available .You can follow the below mentioned article .Though it is for exchange 2010 but it will support 2013 .
    http://smtpport25.wordpress.com/2010/12/10/exchange-2010-dag-local-and-site-drfailover-and-fail-back/
    4. OWA and outlook can work if first site down?
You need to point the outlook and owa namespaces to the exchange 2013
server  in DR site or else it would be to an LB in DR site.
    5. If first site down then second site exchange server db can automatically mounted.
At a time , If the entire site goes down then the automatic failover will not happen ,because
the dynamic quorum doesn't have the enough time to recalculate the dynamic weight.
Please feel free to reply me if you have any queries.
    Thanks & Regards S.Nithyanandham

  • Exchange 2010 users cannot open Exchange 2013 shared mailbox

    Title says it all.
We're in the process of migrating 1000+ mailboxes to Exchange 2013. A number of shared mailboxes have been migrated, but those users still on 2010 cannot open them.
Is this just how it is, or is there a way around it?

    Hi,
I tested in my lab, if the shared mailbox is on Exchange 2010, I could open this shared mailbox successfully. Then I moved this shared mailbox to Exchange 2013, after that, I couldn’t open it anymore, I got the following error:
Besides, I tried to open a shared mailbox on Exchange 2013 which was not moved from Exchange 2010, it is the same error message.
Based on the test, it seems that Exchange 2010 users can’t open shared mailbox on Exchange 2013. So I recommend you move those users to Exchange 2013.

  • Migrating Public Folders on Exchange Server 2007 SP1 to Exchange Online\Office 365

    Hello,
Our company is looking to migrate from Exchange 2007 on premises to Exchange Online/Office 365. We have a number of public folders on our exchange server that function similarly to how the new shared mailboxes work in Exchange Online. That is to say that
we have many outside users (customers and wholesale dealers) emailing this public folder ([email protected]) and our end users are given permission to view and respond as themselves ([email protected]). I've been looking all over but haven't found a clean
way to migrate the current public folders directly into shared mailboxes. I'd just start from scratch, but we want to keep the records of the emails we've received at these public folders for customer support reasons. Can anyone help?

    Hi psh8989,
According to your description, I know that you want to migrate public folder from Exchange 2007 to Office 365.
Since Office 365 is different from Exchange On-Premises, I suggest ask Office 365 Forum for help so that you can get more professional suggestions. For your convenience:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/default.aspx
However, I can also share some information for your reference : )
Based on my knowledge, Exchange supports moving your public folders to Office 365 and Exchange Online from Exchange 2007 SP3 RU10 or later. I notice that your Exchange server version is SP1, please upgrade to SP3 RU10 first and perform migration.
    More detailed information to see:
