"EXP" For Dump File

Sorry...but...Why Oracle 10g XE when I use "Exp" or "Export" to export a dump file, respond me with an error? I tried on internet another command, but Oracle responds ever that the command does not exist...
I see the Help List and there isn't nothing about this command
(Sorry for my poor english ^^)

I want to know whether we can compress datapump dump with this method.No. See MOS doc id. 276521.1. If you are on 10g you have to compress the file once generated.
On 11g you can use COMPRESSION=ALL (no need of pipes).

    Dear Friends,
    We have an application which runs on Oracle 9i database and D2K forms and reports and the same is on Windows XP platform. The server PC is also the client.
    We want the windows limited users to run the application and take oracle export/dump back up. Problem is the forms application runs just fine whereas the dump cannot be taken from the Windows Limited User. Does any body know how to solve this?

  • ORA-39095: Dump file space has been exhausted

    Hello Friends,
    DB Version : 10.2.0.4
    OS : SUN Solaris 10
    We have a server with 10 RAC databases running on it. From 1st node we have a scheduled export job for all the databases. All the databases are using a common script and we are passing parameters (example as below)
    /opt/oracle/admin/DBA/dbatools/expdpdb.sh -d w111pr1 (here w111pr1 is the SID)
    Out of 10 databases, full export job is working fine for 9 databases. only for 1 database (which i mentioned above), export is failing with below error
    ORA-39095: Dump file space has been exhausted: Unable to allocate 16384 bytes
    Job "OPS$ORACLE"."SYS_EXPORT_FULL_39" stopped due to fatal error at 00:06:13
    After analyzing I found that in the script we are not using '%U' option for dump file which might cause the problem. But if this is the real issue, it should fail for other 9 databases also. But even without '%U' option, it is working for other databases.
    One more thing.... all the export backups will run in a difference of 1/2 hour. Do we need anything with OS processes?
    Anyone faced this kind of issue earlier? If so please let me know what can be a better way to handle it.
    Thanks in advance...
    P.S: export is executing fine when issued manually.

    what are your dumpfile, parallel and filesize parameter values in the shell script? does the shell script has one size fits all parameter settings? Also are there any other errors? Can you share the expdp command ?

  • How to find a dump file is taken using norma exp or expdp

    Hi All,
    How to find out whether a dump file is taken using the conventional exp or using the expdp utility?
    OS: HPUX
    DB: 10.2.0.4

    Hi ,
    I go with Helios's reply. We cannot just predict if it was taken my expdp or exp.
    Since your DB version is 10 , both could be possible.
    The simplest way would be : just run the imp , if it throws error , then its created through expdp.
    because dump from expdp cannot be used with imp and vice versa. So that could help you find..
    else , try to get the syntax by which the dump was created.
    If you have any doubts , wait for experts to reply.

  • Create dump file with datapump, with read right for everybody

    Hello,
    I have a problem under Linux : I am creating dump files with datapump.
    Those dump files are owned by a dba group, with no read access for users not in the dba group.
    Is there a way that the datapump utility creates dump files with a read access given to any user ?
    Franck

    Unlike "exp", when using "expdp", the dumpfile is created by the server process. The server process is forked from the database instance. It inherits the umask settings that are present when the database instance is started.
    (Therefore, the only way to change the permissions would be to change the umask for the oracle database server id and restart the database instance --- which is NOT what I would recommend).
    umask is set so that all database files created (e.g. with CREATE TABLESPACE or ALTER TABLESPACE ADD DATAFILE) are created with "secure" permissions preventing others from overwriting them -- of course, this is relevant if your database files are on FileSystem.

  • Using exp dump file, how to know schema/tablespace/database/table....

    Hi
    I have export dump file. I don't have any information other then that about the dumpfile.
    1. How do I know what version of exp was used(or database version)?
    2. what does the exp contain, whether it is table/schema/tablespace/database level export?
    3. Is it possible that I can used impdp command to export a file which was exported using "exp" command?

    1. Sorry for my ignorance but in first case how do I know if i have to use "imp or impdp".
    As discussed in the above mentioned thread strings might reveal something but not sure. Otherwise you can always confirm by trying to run it.
    And assuming that if I imported the dump(using trial and error rule), how do I know what level of export was the dump file created... ie
    how do I know the present object(object imported in target) was belonging to which tablespace and schema in source database(question 2 of "Sidhu")?
    When you will import it back in a new database, everything will be same as the original database. All objects will belong to their respective tablespaces,schemas blah blah...(where they were in the original database).

  • Re-Occurring Blue Screen~Dump files included~Please Help~Unable to verify timestamp for ntkrnlpa.exe

    Hello,
    Starting yesterday I started getting the BSOD. I have uploaded my dump files to this dropbox account:
    www.dropbox.com/sh/w3ryago8pfcw2y2/AAAR5i6Crx5q-p--xdESJjnMa
    There are lots of them as my PC crashed many times.
    I attempted to analyze them with windbg but all I can see is:
    Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe, Win32 error 0n2
    *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for ntkrnlpa.exe
    Also I ran sfc /scannow and it found no integrity violations.
    After the first BSOD I was barely able to get Windows to load without another immediate crash. I couldn't boot my PC last night but today seems okay so far. CPU temp was fine, actually quite cool as I had my window open right by the PC with the side off
    the case and it was cold last night. Today, so far, seems to be running okay...so far anyways..
    Windows update recently installed a driver for my on-board video card (Nvidia GeForce 6150n) on the 18th I think as I started using a 2nd monitor using the on-board card in addition to my PCI Express Ati Radeon HD. To use the second screen, I switched
    the primary video in CMOS to on-board instead of PCI-E 16x so the on-board Nvidia card would be enabled.
    I also installed brand new ram (4gb DDR2) about a month ago
    and a new power supply 2 months ago. The power supply is not "exactly" the same voltage as the one that was in there but it's dang close. But I don't have any power leeching components.
    Other than that nothing new has happened. After I got the crash, I tried to enter CMOS yesterday and it glitched out on me twice. I hope it's not my motherboard..
    I am willing to do a system re-format as I am running Windows 7 32bit on a 64bit AMD so I wouldn't mind having 64 bit Windows anyways but I'd like to know what the problem is before I do this. Thank you.

    Hi,
    All of the attached DMP files are of the
    WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124) bug check.
    A fatal hardware error has occurred. This fatal error displays data from the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).
    If we run an !errrec on the 2nd parameter of the bug check (address of the WER structure) we get the following:
    BugCheck 124, {0, 867d2024, b2000010, 10c0f}

    Error : BUSLG_OBS_ERR_*_NOTIMEOUT_ERR (Proc 0 Bank 4)
    Status : 0xb200001000010c0f
    This is a pretty complicated error compared to other possibilities it could have been, as it implies you have a hardware fault somewhere along the bus (not very definitive on its own).
    In our case however, we can go a bit deeper with this one:
    0: kd> .formats 0xb200001000010c0f
    Evaluate expression:
    Hex: b2000010`00010c0f

    Now that we have this info, we'd refer to the AMD manual:
    63 VAL Valid
    62 OVER Status Register Overflow
    61 UC Uncorrected Error
    60 EN Error Condition Enabled
    59 MISCV Miscellaneous-Error Register Valid

    57 PCC Processor-Context Corrupt
    56–32 Other Information
    31–16 Model-Specific Error Code
    15–0 MCA Error Code
    In our specific case, bit 63 of the status code is set, so it is valid. Bit 62 of the status code is
    unset, therefore there's no overflow. Bit 61 implies an uncorrected error has occurred, and Bit 60 implies an error condition was enabled. Last but not least, Bit 57 is
    set and implies a corrupted processor context.
    If we take a look at the last 15 bits of the binary:
    Binary: [trimming] 00001100 00001111
    In our case, the MSB in binary (00001100 ), implies a bus error occurred (as I mentioned above). We need to further decode the bits to understand more:
    [0000]1100 00001111
    0000 = 1PPT RRRR IILL.
    PP = Participation Processor, T = Timeout,
    R = Memory Transaction Type, I = Memory and/or I/O, and finally
    L = Cache Level.
    With this said, it appears we actually have a faulty motherboard as the processor seems fine, etc. The only other thing I see possible is bad RAM, which you can figure out whether or not is the case by running no less than ~8 passes of Memtest:
    Memtest86+:
    Download Memtest86+ here:
    http://www.memtest.org/
    Which should I download?
    You can either download the pre-compiled ISO that you would burn to a CD and then boot from the CD, or you can download the auto-installer for the USB key. What this will do is format your USB drive, make it a bootable device, and then install the necessary
    files. Both do the same job, it's just up to you which you choose, or which you have available (whether it's CD or USB).
    Do note that some older generation motherboards do not support USB-based booting, therefore your only option is CD (or Floppy if you really wanted to).
    How Memtest works:
    Memtest86 writes a series of test patterns to most memory addresses, reads back the data written, and compares it for errors.
    The default pass does 9 different tests, varying in access patterns and test data. A tenth test, bit fade, is selectable from the menu. It writes all memory with zeroes, then sleeps for 90 minutes before checking to see if bits have changed (perhaps because
    of refresh problems). This is repeated with all ones for a total time of 3 hours per pass.
    Many chipsets can report RAM speeds and timings via SPD (Serial Presence Detect) or EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles), and some even support changing the expected memory speed. If the expected memory speed is overclocked, Memtest86 can test that memory performance
    is error-free with these faster settings.
    Some hardware is able to report the "PAT status" (PAT: enabled or PAT: disabled). This is a reference to Intel Performance acceleration technology; there may be BIOS settings which affect this aspect of memory timing.
    This information, if available to the program, can be displayed via a menu option.
    Any other questions, they can most likely be answered by reading this great guide here:

  • Issue in getting exception pointer in VC++ CLR project for generating dump file.

    Hi,
    We are working on VC++ CLR (Windows Forms) application.
    We are writing a code to generate Mini dump file (using MINIDUMPWRITEDUMP in dbghelp.dll) whenever application crashes.
    The code available on internet for writing mini dump file in c# generates the mini dump but without Exception code and information, because _EXCEPTION_INFORMATION was set using Marshal::GetExceptionPointers() which returns 0. We called MINIDUMPWRITEDUMP
    inside AppDomain::UnhandledExceptionEventHandler for this.
    To get the valid exception pointer for mini dump we made following attempts with and without AppDomain::UnhandledExceptionEventHandler  –
    Used mixed (managed and unmanaged ) dll to add SetUnhandledExceptionFilter.  Inside top level exception filter function added code to write mini dump.  Inside main the handler is set on 1st line. But handler is not invoked
    on any exception. This works fine with console C# project.
    // inside dll
    #pragma unmanaged
    LONG WINAPI ABCExceptionFilter(__in struct _EXCEPTION_POINTERS *pExceptionInfo)
    { // code to write dump
    #pragma managed
    Namespacee SEHHandler {
    public ref class SEHExpHandler
    public:
    static void AddHandler()
    SetUnhandledExceptionFilter(ABCExceptionFilter);
    // inside app main()
    [STAThreadAttribute]
    int main(array<System::String ^> ^args)
    SEHHandler::SEHExpHandler::AddHandler();
    //some code . . .
    Application::Run(gcnew Form1());
    //some code . . .
    Used __try __except inside application main. The exception filter was written in other C++ dll and called inside __except ( expression ) using platform Invoke.  But this throws the caught exception while trying to call handler.
    // inside app class
    [DllImport("SEHhandler.dll")]
    extern int __stdcall se_handler(unsigned int code, IntPtr ep);
    [STAThreadAttribute]
    int main(array<System::String ^> ^args)
    __try
    { //some code. . .
    __except(se_handler(GetExceptionCode(),
    (IntPtr)GetExceptionInformation()))
    { //some code. . .
    // inside dll
    __declspec(dllexport)
    extern int WINAPI se_handler(unsigned int code,
    struct _EXCEPTION_POINTERS* ep)
    { // code to write minidump
    return EXCEPTION_EXECUTE_HANDLER;
    Can anyone help us to get either of the code work. The aim is to write dump file with correct stack trace where exception was thrown.
    Thanks in advance.
    -- Sumit

    Hi,
    Few days back we tried following sample program and we were able to get exception code and pointer for almost all types of exception catch inside __except statement.
    1. Create sample VC++ > CLR > Windows form application.
    2. Change Common language Runtime support to (/clr).
    3. Set UnhandledExceptionMode to ThrowException in main.
    4. Inside application cpp file add __try __except around Application::Run(gcnew Form1()).
    5. Add new header file to write unmanaged function to be called inside __except statement to handle exception.
    6. Created new Form1 and add few buttons to test different types of exceptions.
    7. Exceptions will be catch in __except statement and exception pointers will be available to write mini dump.
    Inside application main function use __try, __except block.
    #include "stdafx.h"
    #include "Form1.h"
    [STAThreadAttribute]
    int main(array<System::String ^> ^args)
    Application::SetUnhandledExceptionMode(UnhandledExceptionMode::ThrowException);
    Application::EnableVisualStyles();
    Application::SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false);
    __try{
    // Create the main window and run it
    Application::Run(gcnew Form1());

  • Cannot create a dump file for a process

    Hi fellows,
    I have a problem creating a dump file for an application. The application consists of C++ and C# dlls. It runs in Windows 7 64bit environment.
    I constantly receive the following error:
    ERROR_PARTIAL_COPY:  Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.
    and only a part of the dump is created ~ 400 MB (should be ~900 MB) although there is enough space on the disk drive.
    I have tried the following options:
    - Task Manager -> Create Dump File
    - windbg (64bit version): .dump /a
    This happens only on two machines and not on all the rest (~20 more).
    All of them are equipped with Windows 7 64bit, the application is build in 64bit
    Note that if I use the option /mA when calling .dump it creates the dump without errors. From the MSDN documentation:
    The /mA option is equivalent to /ma except that it ignores any failure to read inaccessable memory and continues generating the minidump.
    My questions are:
    1) What can be the case when the memory being read is inaccessable
    2) Why does it fail creating the dump file for only 2 machines

    Okay, after reading the post here are the results I got:
    0:013> !vprot 0x800000000
    BaseAddress:       0000000800000000
    AllocationBase:    0000000800000000
    AllocationProtect: 00000004  PAGE_READWRITE
    RegionSize:        0000000200000000
    State:             00001000  MEM_COMMIT
    Protect:           00000004  PAGE_READWRITE
    Type:              00040000  MEM_MAPPED
    0:013> !mapped_file 0x0000000800000000
    No information found for 0000000800000000: error 161
    1) windbg is unable to tell me which the mapped file is
    2) I have tried it several times and strangely always the problematic adress is 0x800000000 ... isn`t that weird ?

  • Can i use impdo while dump file was creeated using exp

    hi,
       I am using oracle 10g database I want to use impdp but my dump file was created using exp utility so can I use impdp now?
    regards

    Hi,
    >>kindly tell me how can I replace existing user from new dump user using imp utility
    You mean the user which used to take the Exp/import right?
    if yes, You do not need to drop/replace this, you just need to add/grant read,write privilege on directory. you can check this:http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/oracle-data-pump-10g.php

  • Error while importing a container dump file

    Hi,
    I am trying to import a container from one Oracle Server to another server which are located at two different locations. I have exported the container from the first server and FTPed it to the second server and tried to import the same into the second server. While doing this, i got the following message:
    Connected to: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning option
    JServer Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
    Export file created by EXPORT:V08.01.07 via conventional path
    import done in WE8ISO8859P1 character set and WE8ISO8859P1 NCHAR character set
    . importing REPOS_MANAGER's objects into REPOS_MANAGER
    . . importing table "XTSYS_EXPORT_OBJECTS" 1 rows imported
    . . importing table "XTSYS_IMPORT_IRID_MAPPING"

    IMP-00033: Warning: Table "XTSYS_IMPORT_IVID_MAPPING" not found in export file
    IMP-00033: Warning: Table "XTSYS_TABS_EXPORTED" not found in export file
    IMP-00033: Warning: Table "XTSYS_RM$REPOSITORIES" not found in export file
    Import terminated successfully with warnings.
    I am able to import the same dump file into another server located in the same location as the Server One without any issues.
    One thing that i have observed is: On the Server 2, if a container is already present and the XTSYS_ tables are already populated, when i tried to import this dump file, it asked me "Temporary tables are already populated. Do you want to overwrite them. Otherwise the existing temporaty tables will be used for this purpose". If i clicked No, then it imported the container without any problems, BUT, the new container contents are not the same as found on Server 1's container contents.
    Can somebody suggest what could be the problem and how can i import that dump file.
    thanks a lot in advance
    regards,
    Vijay

    Vijay,
    There is a note <Note:160378.1> on the Oracle Support site: http://metalink.oracle.com.
    There are a number of possibilities, the most likely of these is that you are using the wrong import/export utilities for an older or newer database version.
    You don't mention which release of Designer you are using, Designer 9i uses the 9.0.1 export/import utilities by default. You cannot use the 9.0.1 export/import utilities against an 8.1.7 database.
    If not already installed, install the 8.1.7 export/import utilities from the Oracle 8i Release 3 (8.1.7) Client Cd into a new Oracle Home.
    In the Registry, change [hklm]\software\oracle\HOMEx\repos61\EXECUTE_EXPORT
    and EXECUTE_IMPORT to point to the 8.1.7 export/import utitilites.
    (HOMEx corresponds to your Designer 9i Oracle Home)
    A typical value for them would be:
    EXECUTE_EXPORT=d:\des_817\bin\exp.exe
    EXECUTE_IMPORT=d:\des_817\bin\imp.exe
    or
    EXECUTE_EXPORT=d:\V817\bin\exp.exe
    EXECUTE_IMPORT=d:\V817\bin\imp.exe
    After changing the parameters in the Registry, verify if they are active by going into the Repository Administration Utility, Check Requirements,
    Parameter Settings and look for EXECUTE_EXPORT and EXECUTE_IMPORT.
    Regards
    Sue
