EXP utillity has higher version than database - export failed !

Hi,
I have a Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.5.0.0 database on our server and I have installed a 9i client on my PC. Now I have to use the export utility to export a specific table from our DB, but as I read from 'Oracle9i Database Utilities' book:
"The version of the Export utility must be equal to the lowest version of the source or target database".
So, I guess I need to install a 8.0.5 client on my PC (I have W2K) but nobody can give me the install CD in the company:(
I've looked on the OTN page if I can find the needed version, but I found only the 8i (8.1.7) install kit. Do you think it shall work the EXP utility if I install that ? Or can I find somewhere else the 8.0.5 install kit ?
Thanks:
Szilard
PS: the error message what I got when I tried to export with 9i client from 8.0.5 DB:
C:\exp user/passw file=myexp.dmp tables=emp;
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 2248 encountered
ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
, but the same command line from a 9i DB worked...

Since your target server is 8.0.5, you should have the EXP utility from a 8.0.x versions. Anything higher will not work.
HTH.

  • Unable to include report viewer web part. Error is, assembly has a higher version than referenced assembly

I am making a web part in VS 2010 for SharePoint 2010. The web part uses Report Viewer control. The files I have referenced in my project with "Copy Local = True" option are:
    Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common.dll
    Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms.dll
    Both are version 10 files.
When I build the project it works fine. But when I add this web part in a page it shows following error.
    Compiler Error Message: CS1705: Assembly 'MySolution, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=8acc41a360fa228d' uses 'Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' which has a higher version
    than referenced assembly 'Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'
I have already installed both Report Viewer 10 redistribute able and its SP1 but no luck. Also copied these DLLs to my SharePoint site bin folder. Did iisreset many times. .Net framework is 3.5 and OS is Windows Server 2008 R2.
    How to fix this issue?

Fixed it by updating my web.config which was referencing version 9 instead of 10.

    Hi Vibhav92,
Could you verify if 13.0.40.190 version (or higher) of NationalInstruments.Common.dll is present on your system (i.e in the .NET GAC folder and Mesurement Studio 2010 folder).
    .NET GAC folder: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL
    Measurement Studio 2010 folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2010\DotNET\Assemblies (on 64-bit machine)
If yes, please delete the current reference to NationalInstruments.Common.dll in your Visual Studio 2012 project and re-add the reference to NationalInstruments.Common.dll reference using the Add Reference dialog of Visual Studio 2012 in your project. Make sure the reference to NationalInstruments.Common.dll in your Visual Studio 2012 project is 13.0.40.190 or higher.

  • Other system has higher release than XI syst. in landscape

    Hi,
We are running an XI 3.0/NW04 system and we're currently planning to upgrade our BW 3.5/NW04 system to BI 7.0/NW04s.
In the Master for NW04s you can read the following :
"For PI, it is a prerequisite that no other system in your system landscape has a higher release than the PI system. If you want to upgrade or install an application in your system landscape, you first have to make sure that the current release of the PI system is on the same release level ‒ if required, you have to upgrade the PI system first to the new or a higher release."
After having read this, my understanding is that we have to upgrade our XI system before upgrading the BW system.
What are the consequences/implications running a system landscape where a system has a higher release than the XI-system ?
Thanks in advance for help and hints.
    Rgds,
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
The implications are, PI as the highest release is the only supported combination.  It is possible that other combinations may work, but they are not tested by SAP and, in the case of any issues, SAP Support will tell you to upgrade your PI system to the highest release.
    Best Regards,
    Matt

  • Why are iPhotos previews higher quality than my exports?

I have just now noticed this after using it for so long. I was using it to de-noise  a photo I took earlier today and turned it up to 100%. I looks clean and smooth like I want, so I exported it first as a jpeg with max quality, but I noticed a lot of noise in it. So I exported it again as an original and it looks the same still. I just exported it as Current to see if there is still noise, and there is. I have exhausted the other formats as well, all export with noise.
I put iPhoto in fullscreen mode and took a screen cap of the photo via cmd+shift+4, and compared the the screen cap to both of the exports and it looks much cleaner, even though its more than half the resolution being displayed.
This is not right, plain and simple.
Here are two links, one to the original export, and the other is a screen cap.

What am I doing wrong? Are my eyes playing tricks?

I just came to my local Apple dealer to get help and they have never encountered this before. Questions they asked that made it less clear for them; they were shot in jpeg and I have exported using every setting all yielding the same results.
This sounds to be a software issue and I encourage Apple's staff to investigate it.

  • Can i install Oracle client with diferent version than database server?

    Hi,
I need to install in two PC client 11g R2 version client. One of my database version is 10g R2 and the other is 9i. Can i install in my PC client a Oracle client version different to my database servers (or i need to install exactly de same version)? I need buy any aditional license?
    Many thanks in advance.

In general you can install an Oracle client version that is different from Oracle database server. However you should take care of client/server support status on My Oracle Support site: see Client / Server / Interoperability Support Matrix For Different Oracle Versions [ID 207303.1].

  • Download for XI content SAP_APPL has more versions than guide..

The Guide (page 15) shows up to SAP_APPL 603.
However the choices in the Support Portal shows:
Stick with the 3 in the Guide ?  Or go all out ?
    Thanks,
    Tim.

Copying the response from Ginger's team:
The guide refers the mandatory software component (PI Content) that are required for the standard interface to work. The one listed in the support portal is for all the different SP’s and Ehp’s of the respective SAP_APPL component on their on-premise SAP application ERP/CRM. So importing anything beyond what the guide says is up to the customer as they may have other non-C4C related interface. But for C4C standard integration we need all of the that are mentioned in the guide. Hope this helps.

  • Backup and database export fails

Now that I've got the database up and running, I'd like to export and/or backup the database. After relaying (I've got a German version of Oracle, so I have to guess what the original terminology might be) the job, it is listed as 'unsucccessful' in the job history. The error code is "VNI-2015 Fehler in der Berechtigungspr|fung" (meaning 'error in authorization check'). The preferred ID-data should be the correct ones.
    Helpless again,
    Claus.

    Greg,
You need to push planning application into maintenance mode or stop planning server -- to stop users logging/entering data through forms
If you have single planning app or all apps can go down during nightly process then just stop planning server by calling stopplanning.cmd( not sure about file name)
after you nightly process is done call startplanning.cmd
If you have multiple applications and only a subset of them needs to be under maintenance mode
then you need to change few values in your application Relational repository ( its not recommended by Oracle)
    LOGIN_LEVEL='0' - For all Users
    LOGIN_LEVEL='2' - For Administrators
you need to change Login_level value to '2' to move app into maintenance mode..
this link will give you a better idea http://www.orahyplabs.com/2011/02/place-planning-under-maintenance-mode.html
just add above mentioned steps based on your requirement

  • Higher version clients than database

We are looking at developing some new solutions but one of the options is to use higher version Oracle clients than the database. Is this possible?
I have seen discussions on accessing a higher version database from lower version clients but not the other way round

Based on the Metalink Note 132904.1 (Compatibility Matrix for Export & Import Between Different Oracle Versions), the client version can not be higher than the target database. If you use the exp of the higher versioned client to export data from a lower versioned database server, it will fail. I was surprised - so I tested. Indeed I could not export data from 9.2.0.8 db server if I am using 10g R2 client. This or any other export import issue is not mentioned (not even a link) in the Note 207303.1
    I hope this proves useful.

  • Database Export with DB2 Version 9.5

    Folks,
Has anybody ran a Database Export with ECC 6.0 or Solution Manager 7.0 etc  ( AIX ) and DB2 Version 9.5 ?
When we have run it, it runs successfully ( so it says ) in seconds but obviously produces no dump file. My gut feel is that the Installation Master ( SR3 ) is prob okay it is some specific kernel components.
If anybody has any ideas it would be much appreciated.
    Regards Russell

We got to the bottom of the problem it was associated with Virtual Hostnames. It wasn't picking up the Virtual Hostname and therefore didn't think there was anything to do. With the correct SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME it connects in correctly and runs through.

  • Importing dump taken from higher version to lower version

    Hi all,
I have already taken dump from oracle 9.0.2 database without using exp utility of lower verion and alo without running catexp.sql script prior to export.
Now i need to import this dump into 9.0.1 database. It gives error due to backward-incompability.
Is there any way to import without re-exporting whole database again using exp utility of lower version against higher version.

It is an unsupported scenario. I had to face it once with the same 920->901 versions. What I did was also absolutely unsupported at my own risk and it was a last chance action. I'll tell you what I did and how it worked for me, which doesn't mean it will work for any situation. If you open your file with a binary file editor you will see at the first file blocks a header that displays the export version "EXPORT:V09.02.00" This header is read by the import to check which version was used to generate the file and prevent an unsupported downgrade, I changed it to EXPORT:V09.00.01 and retried the import. A lot of error messages appeared, but it successfully loaded my information. I took the risk because I made sure this specific database contained just basic tables, indexes and version compatible objects and definitions, it was a testing environment, I didn't have the right Oracle version and there was no time to get it, and finally I had a bullet proof backup.

  • WebLogic Portal 10.3.2 EmbededLDAP Export Failed

New domain created in WebLogic Portal 10.3.2. 11g
In the Admin Servers log file, I see this error:
    <Mar 1, 2010 7:06:23 PM CST> <Error> <EmbeddedLDAP> <BEA-000000> <Database Export Failed: null>
I don't see this in other domains, just this newly created one.

You may want to go to the domain (top of tree) in the admin console, then 'security', 'embedded LDAP' and play with the 2 options of "refresh replica at startup'" and "master first". I don't have enough info on what database is referring to or your configuration but these are areas you may want to look into.

Can i use a higher version export utility to backup a database of lower version.
If you have access to Metalink you should read Note:132904.1. headline: "The export fails if you use a higher release export version."
Also: I hope this is not your only "backup". Export really isn't a sensible backup solution.
    Cheers, APC
