Expanded TOC by default

Hi all, using TCS2, linked FM books into RH, Win 7 64-bit.
When I generate Webhelp from RH, the TOC is not expanded automatically. You have to click on the main topic to see all the sub topics, etc. Is there a setting to make the TOC expanded automatically? To be clear - I can see the navigation panel on the left-hand side, but just the main book of the doc appears- I would like to show users how many sub-topics there are below, as soon as they access the help.
I searched the threads but couldn't find anything quite related to this question.

So you have configured the Introduction topic to be the default topic. So far so good.
The next bit sounds odd, as by default things should have been configured so that the TOC Synchronizes with the displayed topic. As you click links in other topics, does the TOC expand whatever book the links are in so that it synchronizes? You want synchronizing on. And it usually is.
Another possibility is to try changing the Speed Optimization so it's set for Local PC or Intranet. It's on a dialog about two or thee clicks in (click Next) in the WebHelp SSL properties.

Expand TOC by default when press F1

Hi,
Is it possible that when a user press F1 for a given page (context-sensitive help) the table contents at the left is expanded by default and that given page is highlighted/selected from the toc?
Currently I need to click the "Expand contents" link first to see the table of contents.
I'm generating my project using WebHelp (Primary Layout) with Robohelp 10.

Hi,
You can use a window definition for that. In the Project Set-up, create
a window with a two pane view. Include it in your output and tell the
developers to amend the way they call the help to also include the
window name. That will open the TOC by default.

Synchronize Table of Contents Automatically not expanding TOC tree

Users tell me that some years ago context-sensitive help would expand the TOC tree and select the target topic. Current behavior (RH9) is the "book" is selected but not expanded.
Is there some way to get the old behavior back?

Does it mysteriously begin working after you have had it open for a while?
I ask, because the default setting for WebHelp is that the navigational elements are broken into smaller chunks during the generation process. And it's not uncommon for the TOC to fail synchronization early when opening the help but begin working later.
To change that behavior, one needs to enable the speed setting of "Local PC or Intranet" as shown below.

This causes the TOC, Index, Glossary and Search to be contained in larger single files. The trade-off is that it takes longer for the TOC, Index, Glossary and Search to appear, but the TOC synchronization typically then works.

Show Organization in Expanded view by default -- Oracle Waveset

Hi,
I am using Oracle Waveset.
In Account List page, when we click on the ' Triangular Image' to expand org then it shows all the users under the org.
Is it possible that by default, it gives expanded view. Please help me on this?

Yes, I know the procedure of viewing the group calendar and adding other users to the view. But what I'm looking for is the way to make it as a default view.
By default, if we refresh or load the calendar page, it will only shows us our schedule. I want it to show all user's schedule as default view, without having to manually add person to the view.
Yep, it's pretty annoying. Some guy figured out a way to do it in the browser:

The problem is that seems to do it all in the UI, which makes it useless if you want to view it in outlook. Still trying to figure exactly how that works though.

Can TOC Book Default to Open?

Is it possible to have a book in your TOC default to being
open when the site is accessed? I have several books, but would
like the first one to default to an open state while the remaining
books default to closed.

If you configure the default topic to be a topic inside the
book, then ensure the TOC is set to automatically synchronize to
the displayed topic, you will have achieved what you are seeking.

How can I make expanded threads the default view?

Whenever I go to my usenet account, I have to press Shift-* to expand all the threads. In the past, I never needed to do this. I would really like to be able to make "all threads expanded" my default view. Can anybody tell me if this is possible and if so, how to do it? TIA.

Almost all compose issues can be "cured" using the workaround of pressing enter 3 or 4 times and then moving the cursor back to the start. The composer has the annoying ability to go past the end of the document by one character and pick up the defaults used in developing the program.
Simply Typing your name and then returning to the beginning to type will bypass that.

Not pasting from Word is also a big help.

Matt, thanks very much for replying. I'll give the trick you mention a try. However, the extension you recommend isn't approved by Mozilla and I'm very reluctant to install something which isn't.
Anyway, pretty sad when extensions have to be created to deal with bugs the developers should find solutions for. Maybe they're trying to convince people to give up TB so that they can totally drop it like they want.

Is it possible to see the Drill down output in the expanded format by default in SSRS reports?

I have created a drill down report. If i preview my report , by default i can see the out put in the aggregated level and i have to drill it to down levels if i want. My requirement is i want to see the data in the leaf level by default means report
should be displayed in the expanded format to the leaf level, if i want i can drill up the report later.
Is this possible in SSRS? Can some one help me out on this?

Thanks for the reply. but if i follow this steps i can see the output in the expanded format but + and - symbols will be interchanged. That means if i drill up i have (-) before the column name and if i drill down it will be (+).
For this to work you need to set properties initial appearance of toggle image

Trying to override the default af:tree expanded and collapsed icons

I initially hijacked a thread from 2010 that was vaguely similar to what I need to ask, but a kind forum moderator split my post out to stand on its own merits.
I am trying to override the default af:tree expanded and collapsed icons I am using the following styles for my af:tree but they are not reflecting any thing on my tree with the styleclass orgType.

af|tree.orgType::collapsed-icon {
content: url("../images/ac-collapsed.png");

After working for long hours I realized that there is some problem with af:tree and treeTable. They are not taking the styles where as for the other components, every thing works fine. Is there any way to achieve the task. Could you suggest any alternative way to do this. Thanks in advance. Your suggestions for this task can really help me and my team a lot.

do the icons show without the style class reference used in the skin file? If so, then the style class for this component might be rendered differently for the tree, e.g.
.orgType af|tree ...

Expanded save dialogue by default?

Does anyone know how to change the default behaviour of the save and print dialogue boxes? In ML I used these terminal commands to change the default save location to a local folder instead of icloud, then default to showing the expanded dialogue by default.
defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSDocumentSaveNewDocumentsToCloud -bool false
defaults write -g NSNavPanelExpandedStateForSaveMode -bool TRUE
defaults write -g PMPrintingExpandedStateForPrint -bool TRUE
These settings do not appear to be consistent in Mavericks, and it keeps jumping back to the original setting. If anyone knows how to change it permanently I would be grateful.

It seems that the print one is ignored in 10.9. The save one works for me, IF I run it in "this" user's scope, AND execute a killall Finder at the end of my login hooks script.

Expand All Mail Conversations by Default

There are quite a few threads out there on this topic but none with any suitable response. Has anyone figured out a terminal command that might force this, sort of like we do for forcing font size? Its frustrating to have to keep going to view and selecting "Expand All Conversations" manually evertime you switch views.

That checkbox is checked, I have to go to View/Expand All Conversations about 20-30 times a day to expand all messages because it continues to collapse whenever I "switch views" meaning, going from one folder, to a keyword search, to a smart folder, etc. It would be great to have some command line "defaults...xxxxx" that sets the "Expand All Conversations" default to on rather than persistent off - even if selected from the menu.
It would appear that I'm not the only one frustrated by this, many others seem to have the same thoughts so I'm hoping that someone in this community have figured out that simply setting a command line in Terminal sets the default to on with a bit flip.

Issue 1: If slides are grouped, the first level TOC entry does not auto-expand when user navigates into the group. I feel the second level of the TOC should open up automagikally. This is standard with RoboHelp or Articulate.
Issue 2: Has been discussed and I don't see a workaround. Simply stated, I want the status of a slide set to "complete" (green checkmark) upon entering the slide. Currently, user must click button or clickbox to trigger the status change, or slide must play all the way through. I'd like the user to be able to click the contiue button in the playback control and still have the slide marked complete. Seems like there ought to at least be a status variable to set upon entry but a global setting would be better.

In CP5 width of the TOC can be controlled in the TOC settings, default and minimum is 250 pixels.
If text entries are too long, they will appear totally as a rollover (was already so in CP4).

RH 10: How do I get Heading 1 to appear in printed Word TOC

Hi,
I can't get any Heading 1s to appear in printed Word TOC.
Using Books and Topics (with titles as Heading 1 as a test).
All other headings appear fine in the Word TOC.
RH TOC example
Functionality (Book)
     Function 1 (Topic) - has Heading 1 title, doesnt show in word TOC
     Function 2 (Topic) - has Heading 2 title, shows in word TOC
Known Issues (Book)
     Issues 1 (Topic)
Sure I can change the TOC field codes to include Heading 1 in the Word doc.
Does RH only include Heading 2 and lower in the Word TOC, by default?
Anyway to change this or what am I doing wrong?

I just tried that one and it worked correctly. I also see the same code so this is a bit baffling.
Have you tried both DOC and DOCX?
Are you generating the Word document to a local drive.
If the problem was with one document or project, I would suggest other things but this is common to all Word outputs.
Try generating a printed document but selecting a CSS file rather than a Word template.
Can you try on another machine using the trial version for test purposes?

Help in getting current expanded node in Tree UI

HI,
I have a requirement to build a tree dynamically. On expanding each node I need to create sub nodes inside that. But it is always creating inside the node where the lead selection is and not inside the current expanded node. Even though I have used getTreeSelection () to get the current element.
Detailed description about the application.,
I have created a context with the following structure,
TreeNode (0..n)
|
|--> ChildNode (recursive SiteTree)
|--> Name (string)
I have created a Tree UI Element in the view and inserted a node type 'TreeNodeType'.
I have set the properties of the inserted node type as given bellow,
Value Attribute in TreeNode -> Name I have assigned to 'Text' property of 'TreeNodeType'.
Initially I have created four nodes in the init() method ., using the following code :
for(int i=0;i<3;i++)
IPrivateTestTreeView.ITreeNodeNode treenode=wdContext.nodeTreeNode();
IPrivateTestTreeView.ITreeNodeElement treeelement=wdContext.createTreeNodeElement();
treeelement.setName("Testroot:"+i);
treenode.addElement(treeelement);
Now I need to create sub-nodes for this dynamically.,
I have created an action and called it in 'onLoadChildren' event of 'TreeNodeType' with the following code:

Where this returns me only the name of LeadSelection node and not the node which i try to expand. 
Is there anyway I can get the currently expanded node., Kindly help me out in this.

So it means that we cannot identify the currently expanded node in tree UI element and It will always be the lead selection node we will be able to get rite?
Can we make the current lead selection to currently expanded node 'By Default'?
Coming back to your solution.,
I created a context element 'isExpanded' of type boolean inside the TreeNode.
You said that there will be a call made to 'getter and setter' methods while we expand the node and we can set the lead selection to that element from there.
Could you please give me some more details of how to achieve it.
