Expanding Cells?

Hi,
I have posted about this problem before, I initailly thought
it was because of spletting and merging cells, however I have
removed these cells and replaces them with nested tables yet the
problem is still here.
On my page www.bethhockley.com/ptihome2.htm I want the images
in a vertical line on the left to line up with the blue
backgrounded text box on the right. In IE it looks just how i want
it, however in Safari the box is far longer than it should be.
Does anyone know how to make it line up in safari without
upsetting the way it currently works in IE?
My external CSS is at
www.bethhockley.com/bethhockleychanged.css
This problem has been driving me crazy for weeks!
Thanks,
Beth H

oh and that won't be enough.
The blue background is applied to the table in the cell if I
understand your code correctly?
The blue background should be abpplied to the right cell
(right td) of the table that contains both
the left images and the right text.
The idea is that these two cells will always have the same
height, but the table containing the text
won't be as hight as the left cell...

  • Lightroom 5.3 does not show image info tooltips in grid view expanded cells

In my copy of Lightroom 5.3, image info tooltips do not show in the grid view expanded cells even though that option is activated in view options. Is this an issue with Lightroom 5.3? (Note: Image info tooltips in grid view compact cells and the filmstrip do display, however.)

I don't think it ever has. I've just checked back through all versions from Lightroom 2, and don't get the same information in Expanded Cell view as I do in Compact Cell view.
So not a specific issue with LR5.3, more likely either it's "as designed" or one of those very long-standing bugs that haven't been fixed.

    Hi,
Can you tell me why these table cells on the left are spacing

This problem arises quite often. Is there a way to lock the

    Thank you for your time.

  • No longer have indication of need for synchronizing a folder

My workflow in LR is to do all of my editing, etc. and then open Bridge and change all of the file names to reflect more discriptive titles. I then switch back to LR (4.3). In the past this would result in all of my edit pictures involved in this process showing the infamous question mark, BUT also the new discriptive names. I would then sync and all would be well. Now the file name does not change and the question mark does not show. The folder needs to be sync'ed and since I know that I do so and all of the titles then change in the LR view.
One other piece of data - I installed win7 64 bit (was on 32 bit) and of course reinstalled LR and CS5. I suspect there is some preference setting I need to change to have LR reflect the new file name and thereby need a sync and so indicate it, but I don't know what it is. I could use some advice on this one. Thanks.

    colblip,
It was not my intention to insult you. But your workflow goes totally "against the grain" of Lr.
I know that some people insist on their workflow even if it is not optimal. But - and that is my experience from participating in the forum - they usually come to grief.
It's absolutely fine if you find that Bridge is better for your workflow. But then, why don't you stay in Bridge?
Mixing Bridge and Lr just doesn't work for the simple reason that Bridge saves to file while Lr saves to its catalog.
And most experienced users of Lr agree on that Lr and Bridge don't mix well.
And I used strong words to drive the point home that - indeed - you would do well familiarizing yourself more with Lr, because your current workflow is far from optimal.
Please, don't take offence. But sometimes strong words are needed to drive a point home.
You wrote: "this would result in all of my edit pictures involved in this process showing the infamous question mark, BUT also the new discriptive names."
While it is correct that Lr would show the question mark, it would not display the new file names. Lr displays a question mark when the link between its catalog and the image file is broken. If Lr would display the new file name - created outside of Lr - there would be no need for a question mark.
Lr would have displayed the changed file names only after <sychronizing folder> but not before.
The correct way to handle the situation after changing the file name in Bridge would have been to relink the file. You do this by clicking directly onto the question mark (in Grid View) and by selecting <find missing file>, then navigating to and selecting the new file name. This procedure will preserve the Lr edits. But <Synchronize folder> does not.
<Synchronizing folder> imports "new" images, i.e. the images are read and imported from an file, i.e. from the hard drive. While this procedure is OK for new files that haven't been imported into Lr before, with images already imported into Lr it will discard all catalog data related to this image and replace it with what is on disk. And since Lr stores the edits in its catalog, the edits are lost.
There is only one way to avoid this: The catalog data has to be written to file before you change the file name.
Are you beginning to see that your workflow is not optimal?
You also wrote: "Now the file name does not change and the question mark does not show"
It may be that the cells are compacted. In the Grid View go >View >Grid View Style and check <Expanded cells>.

  • Grid View Badges Option Is Grayed Out

I am using LR 4.2 (on Mac) and have been using LR since 2.0. Yesterday all the badges on all my photos disappeared in Grid View. I didn't change any prefernce settings, or update that I am aware of. When I go to View > Grid View Styles> Show Badges, that option is checked, however it is grayed out. On the Mac that usually indicates it is not a viable option.
I've restarted the program but the problem remains. Any suggestions about how to bring back badges?
    Here is a screen shot:

Go to View Options>Grid View tab.
Ensure "Show Grid Extras" is checked, then select either Compact Cells or Expanded cells.
Ensure you select the items you want to see under "Cell Icons", e.g. Flags, Badges, etc.
Then UNCHECK as many of the boxes as you want under Compact or Expanded Cell Extras, to remove the info top and/or bottom on the grid cells.

  • Css positioning

More css dumbness on my part:
I have two DIVs on a page that both have a table inside it.
The intention is that both tables should center within their DIV.
In IE on the PC, the content table centers, but the footer table
aligns left. In Mozilla, it's the other way around!
In the case of the #content, if I remove the nav class from
that table, the table will center in Mozilla, but then my text has
no formating. I don't see what it is about my .nav styles that
would cause the table to align left (?)
In the case of the #footer, the table in that is set to
center and has 80% width, with an expanding cell in between the
logo and text. Here, I can get it to center in IE if I write: div
align="center" but then my type is centered, where I want it align
    left.
I'm sure part of my problem is doing this stuff past my
    bedtime.

    Remove "float:left" from .twoColLiqLtHdr #header {}
For the width of the footer try this value: 1180px (not
    1200px)

  • OLite filenames

I've found that some legal file names won't work for Oracle Lite (4.0.1.2) databases. In particular, filenames beginning with a number (e.g., 4487.odb) or filenames containing a dash (e.g., a-b-c.odb) result in a [POL-5228] syntax error. What are the rules for OLite filenames and where are they documented?

  • Sort images bei date and time

    Hi,
I'm sure that I have a stupid problem, but it is a problem for me.
I imported photos from 2 different cameras in one folder and try to sort them by the exposure date.
Now I have in the first part all images from camera one (format DNG) and behind all these photos the images from camera two (format NEF).
How could I solve this problem?
Inside each group the images are well sorted.
    Thanks for your help, Frank

For anyone else hunting for the sort options (as I was when I stumbled onto this thread), From Library View click on View>Sort> then pick your options.
I also use Expanded Cell Options (right click any image in the library and click View Options).
    - Under the Options I view the Basefilename,  Capture Date/Time;    Folder,  and Cropped Dimensions
If any images are lacking the capture date/time (happens for some edited images) I can see that immediately and understand why the sort is not proceeding as expected.
    Hope this helps.

  • Drawing an image in excel sheet using HSSF API

    Hi All,
Can any one please help me.
I am facing an issue with excel sheet while drawing image using HSSF API.
I am doing autofit for all the cells i have added. But the image is stretching along with the expanded cells.
I want the autofit option to work but the image should not stretch. Image should be the same size as is but the cells must expand.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Santosh
You can export the report to PDF
Else you can manually copy the logo\image to excel sheet.
    Hope it will help.

  • Filenames in Library Grid view

I use filenames of the form "YYYY-MM-DD xxx Description". In the grid view on landscape pictures I can see the sequence number (xxx) when the pictures are a reasonable size, but the filename shown is much shorter on the portrait orientation photos so I can't see the sequence number.
Is there a way to get the filename to use the whole space available on portrait photos so we can see all or at least more of the filename?
    Regards

  • Sql outputs to excel sheets

    Hi;
From sqlplus, I can write the output of the sql query to csv file.
What I want to do is,
Suppose my excel file which consist of two seperate sheets.
When I execute query1 it should write the output to sheet1.
When I execute query2 it should write the output to sheet2.
How can I do that? Any suggestion?

You might want to look at the ExcelDocumentType and ExcelDocTypeUtils here: http://www.jasonsdevelopercorner.com/?page_id=8
The ExcelDocumentType is an Oracle User Defined Type (UDT) that allows a developer to generate fully functional Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets using PL/SQL directly from the database. The spreadsheets will be encoded as Microsoft Excel 2003 XML Spreadsheets. Microsoft Excel will recognize the files with both a .xml or .xls extension (Excel 2007 will ask user for permission to open the file if the .xls extension is used …). The ExcelDocumentType supports the following Excel features:
    * Creation of multiple worksheets
    * Custom Header and Footer
    * Creation of custom Excel styles (color, font, number formats, text rotation, etc.)
    * Creation and application of formulas
    * Worksheet titles (expanded cell)
    * Worksheet naming (sheet tabs)
    * Creation and application of worksheet level conditional formatting.
    * Creation of hyper-linked cells (Sheet to sheet, external links, or email links).
    * Custom cell attributes (in case you want to apply one that isn’t already provided).
The ExcelDocumentType provides three direct methods of document retrieval/delivery:
    * The document can retrieved as a CLOB.
    * The document can be streamed directly to a web browser through a PL/SQL DAD (if delivering content to the browser using PL/SQL).
    * The document can be retrieved in a PL/SQL table via a user defined type called ExcelDocumentLine
The code packaged with the ExcelDocumentType includes a PL/SQL Package (API) called ExcelDocTypeUtils that makes the creation of a spreadsheet very simple.
People have been using this for several years with very good results.

  • How to reveal file type in grid view?

In grid view, file number appears at the top of each thumbnail image.  But it does not show whether they are jpg or NEF type.
How can I let file type appears together at the end of file number in grid view?   There is a way to see file type but if appears in gird view it would be more convenient.
    I use LR. 5.4.

In Library mode, do View > View Options.  Then under Compact Cell Extras and Expanded Cell Extras, you can choose what is displayed next to the thumbnail:

  • When I move a picture in Lightroom, what gets moved?

    Hi,
When I select an image and move it to another folder, what gets moved?  Is it the RAW file?  What about the exported file?
For example, I go the the Library, and select a Virtual Image that has been Exported and select to move it to another folder.  What gets moved?
I'd like to move the RAW image to one folder, and the processed JPG to another.  They are in different folders now.  Not sure how this works.
    Thanks.

    1) If you want to know what the image in the Grid is, you can:
Check the Metadata panel for information about the selected image:
Press Ctrl-J to set up what's shown on compact or expanded cells:
and then use shortcut "J" to toggle between nothing, compact view and expanded view on your Grid thumbnails:
If it shows it's a raw image, then the raw image will be moved.
    2) If you did not add the exported images to your catalog (neither by importing nor by having "Add to this Catalog" checked in the export dialog),
then you can (must) move them manually using Finder/Explorer from outside of LR, without implications on LR.
You can also find out whether they are part of your catalog or not by choosing "All Photographs" in Grid view and see if you have a JPEG shown next to your Raw, or if your Raw shows a stack sign (number in thumbnail).

  • Grid thumbnails disappear after 1/2 second

I have an odd problem on my laptop: the thumbnails in the main window of the grid initially display but after a short period (maybe 1/2 second) they disappear - what I see then is tiles with the image number and file name plus the borders but the rest is gray. If I scroll or PgUp/PgDn or change the thumbnail size the new photos that come into view have thumbnails briefly, then they disappear too. Loupe, develop, navigator preview, Compare view, Survey view, and filmstrip all work normally, it is only the grid thumbnails that are odd.
Additional information: if I press the J key to cycle through the different types of grid display I find that the problem only occurs in the "expanded cells" mode and only when the full info is toggled on.
I have LR1.1 and I have the latest video driver (Mobile Intel 945 Express chipset version 6.14.10.4859). The problem also occurred with LR 1.0 before the upgrade. The laptop is Toshiba Portege M400 with 1GB RAM, the processor is Intel T2400 18.3GHz. Windows XP sp2.
    Any ideas?

That seems similar to, but not exactly the same as, the problem I've been having for the past 2 weeks on only one of my 2 computers:
metamatt, "missing text / thumbnails / many Lightroom UI elements disappeared" #, 18 Aug 2007 3:08 pm. I too find that the problem in Grid view depends on the view options I've selected, but for me, the thumbnails are either always present or always missing, for given view options -- they don't appear then disappear.

  • Library image labels - add file size

Library View expanded cell options - file size seems important enough a parameter to have as an option. Can I be the only one who uses that info?

No, it should be shown in many more areas, including in the Folders panel.
