Expanding desktop pictures across two monitors

So I finally have two monitors and I have always wanted to get pictures that could span over two monitors. I have some now and they aren't going over both monitors. They just fill the one monitor and clip off the excess...kind of like a Pan and Scan. What am I doing wrong???

You can also use a paint brush and paint the image across both screens.

  • Stretching desktop across two monitors with FX5600

    Hi
Can anyone please help me stretch my desktop across two monitors? I have just purchased an MSI FX 5600 VTD256 and am using it on a P4P800 ASUS Motherboard and Windows XP Machine. I can't get the desktop image to stretch over my two monitors. Instead it duplicates on each one. This is causing further problems within the CAD package I am using, as the dialog box positions are not being remembered.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Link.

what driver version are you using ?
because they updated nview in the latest version to simplify it
anyway in the old ones (Nview 2.0) you dat to check the "Treat different outputs on the ... as separate videocards" or something lyke that in Display->properties->advanced->nvidia ...
in the new ones (Nview 3) is pretty much the same ... just look for it

  • Desktop Pictures and Dual Monitors

I have a "stock" 1.6 GHz G5 with 1 GB factory RAM running OS 10.4.3. I have two monitors hooked up to the factory video card, one a Sony CRT Multiscan G500 and the other a Dell LCD (1680 x 1050). When I initially hooked up my new Dell LCD, I had two different desktop pictures, one for the CRT and one for the LCD. This was kind of nice! However, after a restart, I now have the same desktop picture on both monitors. Any suggestions as to how I may customize my desktops, with one set of pictures for the CRT and another for the LCD??? The computer guys here at work say it can be done but don't now how. Thank you!

I have three monitors and run different pictures on all three. Go to Preferences, desktop & screen savers. You can select a folder of pictures or one picture.

  • Playing movie full-screen across two monitors?

I have a PC with a pair of 800x600 monitors side-by-side for a dual-monitor desktop. I want to play a very wide (1600x600) QuickTime movie fullscreen across them both (not simply mirrored), with no window border or Windows taskbar visible. But when I click the zoom box for the movie window, it resizes the window to one display, so that it doesn't touch the other display at all.
I'm not currently using QuickTime Pro; will paying for that upgrade allow me to play a movie "Full Screen" across two screens, or will that still limit the movie to one screen?
Is there any other way for me to play the movie across two displays? (Again, not mirrored - the movie is wide enough to fit both displays.) Is there some other QuickTime movie player that'll do this for me?
(The movie is a pair of eyes looking back and forth. It's for a Halloween display, one monitor per eye.)

I had an older version of VLC and it did not work but I tried the beta version of 0.8.4test1a and it plays everything from h.264,mpeg4,mpeg2,avi,vob,wmv and a few more. The only other things I know I have done is that I have the pro version of quicktime 7.0.3 and I have a codec pack from ColeMedia Codec Pack from http://www.cole2k.net/ other than that I don't know what else I did that made it work.

  • Spanning one image across two monitors?

If this has been asked before, I applogize. It is probably a simple solution, but, not sure if it is possible.
I am using an Imac 17" Display, 160 Gig HDD, 1 Gig RAM and an external 19" monitor (as an extended desktop)
I have downloaded some of the split screen backgrounds, and, they look fantastic, but, they can be hard to find.
I am wondering, if I get a widescreen background (Single. Not Dual Monitor), can it be set to Span the image across both monitors?
My resoloution for my 17" Imca is 1400 X 940 (Or, whatever the native resolution is for it)
My external monitor is set to 1280 by 1024
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Gary

I had the same problem.  U need to install ITAP RPD, it supports spanning very well.  U can test with their trial version.
I have a new IMac 27" with 27" Thunderbolt second display.  Working on remote desktop with 5120 x 1440 pixels is awesome, and ITap supports it very well
    Cheers

  • Getting the DW panes across two monitors

I work with two monitors and have CS3.
I'd like to be able to have DW across both or at least to let me move a pane onto the other screen. is tis possible?
Related to this: is it possible to have the Code pane AND the Design pane visible at the same time?
    thank you........... liz

You should be able to simply drag any of the palettes onto your second monitor.  See the attached image -- which shows an unsolved problem I'm having with dual monitors, but also shows you an example of a dual-monitor layout.

  • In OS X Mavericks, can I run the same application across two monitors?

I'm an artist. I use programs like Photoshop across my iMac screen to my Wacom Cintiq screen all the time. It's vital for my workflow to have the same application running on both monitors. Art on the screen I draw on, menus, reference and what not on the monitor. Basically an extended desktop. I read in a few reviews when Mavericks was first released that Apple removed the extended desktop from the standard dual monitor set up. The only information I can find on this subject has to do with Airplay, which doesn't fit my situation at all. Before I upgrade to Mavericks, I need to know I'm not going to be crippling my workflow. There are a lot of features that I was looking forward to in Mavericks that could help me out a lot, but the big removal of my most used feature has kept me away for months. Any help I can get would be welcome. I appreciate it.

I run dual 21.5" monitors and Extended Desktop Mode works fine in Mavericks.
I don't use Photoshop, but Pixelmator and other App's with independent toolbars work great in both Windowed and Full Screen Modes.

  • Desktop pictures - iPhoto-dual monitors

I did a search and noticed that this topic has been discussed before but I didn't see any solution. What I did notice is that in the System Preferences pane, if I select an (iPhoto) album from the lower portion of the left-hand panel, the "change" checkbox is grayed out. However, if I use the "desktop" button in iPhoto then a folder called "iPhoto Selection" is created in the upper portion of the left-hand panel and the "change" checkbox is functional and the images rotate on my desktop. However, this last option doesn't seem to be available for my second monitor. The folder "iPhoto Selection" does not exist in the Preference pane associated with the second monitor. I am running 10.4.4. Thanks, Bill

I was able to find a solution to this based on another thread in these forums.
When you create an "iPhoto Selection" for the desktop background a folder is created: Pictures/iPhoto Library/iPhoto Selection. This folder contains aliases to the photo files in the album you selected in iPhoto.
So, use iPhoto to create an iPhoto Selection for your first monitor, then on the second monitor's preferences rotate images from the iPhoto Selection folder. You can then go back to the first monitor and change its background (the iPhoto Selection folder remains).
Hope this helps. I never would have figured this out on my own. Apple, please fix this broken feature!

  • All Develop sliders visible at one time across two monitors or wide monitors

Is there any way to have all the Develop models visible at one time instead of having to scroll downwards ?
I have a 21:9 screen with lots of horizontal space, so I would like to have the Develop sliders fill the space horizontally instead of vertically. Or if Develop panel can be fully visible on a second or third monitor.

As far as I know there is no way you can do that.

  • How do I re-establish a single virtual monitor across two 30" screens?

How do I re-establish a single virtual monitor across two 30" screens?
The fact that the screens are now separate with two menu bars, and the inability for images to appear across both of them is a great inconvenience to me. I have used this system since the dual monitors first became available and do not want to loose.
While rearranging my desk top of current files, I seem to have jumping folders that flt to random places
Thank for bailing me out on this!

I've been looking for the same answer .. I stopped by local Apple store - Genius - he don't know
3 monitors here .. and agree - it's an extreme irritant that when a window is across two monitors part of it disappears.
Have Adobe Bridge catalog listing (and Filter, Collection, Keyword, Dates) on one monitor and main viewing window part on center monitor - no more.
Supper long spread sheet across all three monitors - no more.
Multiple Menu bars are irritating to use.

    Hi Balaji,
So if you have an extended desktop across two monitors then I would say you had two options.
    1. Within one VI you could simple design the front panel in such a way that it extends across both screens with the relevant information in the right screen.  The fact that there are two monitors present is transparent to the applications.
    2. With two VIs there is a property for front panels to choose which monitor they are displayed on.  This is available by wiring a VI reference to a property node and selecting front panel window >> monitor.  You then enter an id for the monitor you want it to be displayed on, this is a numeric e.g. your primary monitor will be zero. You can see the property node help page here.
I hope this is the information you are after.

    James Mc

  • Extend finder bar over two monitors

is there any way to extend the finder bar (the bar at the top with FILE EDIT, time, etc, not sure what to call it) across two monitors? so that the apple and FILE EDIT, etc. controls are on the left monitor and it extends to the right monitor where the time, airport, display, sound, etc. controls are.
I'm pretty sure you can't do this in MAC OS X, so i guess i'm asking if there is any software that can do this.
    Thanks!

I have not heard of anything like that. There are some contextual menu (right-click menu) and desktop customization tools out there, I think.
You can move the menu bar (and Dock) from one monitor to the other and change the relative position of the multiple monitors, just drag them around in the System Preferences Layout or Position view. The white menu bar can be dragged from one monitor to the other.
I always have my Dock on the bottom, and it stays on the monitor with the Menu Bar, not sure what happens when you put it on the right or left sides and you have two monitors.

  • Nvidia, two monitors, both load, opens all programs on first screen

    Hey all,
I have an nvidia GE force 9400GT and using two monitors.
In awesome wm, i get two different screens, almost like two computers shareing a keyboard.
However, in gnome, i get almost the same, but not quite. My wallpaper stretches across both screens, and if i open a program in either screen, it will only load in the first screen,
I don't want one large desktop spread over two monitors, would much rather have two seperate screens.
    Am using the nvidia-173xx package
    appreciate any advice. thanks

I have two monitors as well. What I am doing is running a separate X server on every screen. This behavior can easily be configured in the nvidia-settings application, on the "X Server Display Configuration" tab. Just press "Configure" and you are prompted for three options. Choose "Separate X screen". Then click OK, "Save to X Configuration File" and restart your X.
What you should note when you restart your X is that your window manger doesn't probably load on the secondary screen without further configuration. I have the following two lines on my .xinitrc file which loads Openbox to both of my screens (which you can use as reference):
    DISPLAY=:0.0 exec openbox-session &
    DISPLAY=:0.1 exec openbox

  • Desktop picture not displaying properly

The background desktop picture has two bands (top and bottom) that are pixelated. How can I fix this? This has started since I upgraded to Yosemite.

    Try  Reset  PRAM.
Some  of the display settings are stored in PRAM.

    Best.

Have you tried HELP in FINDER?  If you open HELP and enter 'displays' in the field in the upper right hand corner you will get a list of topics on setting up monitors.  Specifically read 'Setting up multiple displays to show the same image' and 'Setting up multiple displays as an extended desktop'.
    Ciao.
