Expanding Text shows up as links

I have something odd going on. I use RoboEngine and publish
all my projects together. A majority of my projects show the
expanding text produced by using the Glossary Hotspot Wizard
correctly, but a handful is showing the terms for the expanded text
as LINKS. The color of the terms that are being displayed correctly
is red, the ones showing up as links are blue and are underscored.
My procedure for all my projects is the same when I'm running the
Glossary Hotspot Wizard. Any comments or suggestions?
Vick

Hi Vick
I think what is working against you here is the simple fact
you are using RoboEngine. This indicates you are either using
RoboInfo or are producing WebHelp Pro outuput. I'm guessing that
you are in a very small minority. As such, there is simply a dearth
of folks experienced with your product.
Are you able to produce regular WebHelp? If so, does the
problem manifest then? Assuming the answer to both of those
questions is "yes", then maybe we can help. But until we do know
the answer, I'm guessing we are all assuming it may be something
simply related to using RoboEngine as opposed to being more generic
in nature.

  • Is it possible to create a "click to expand" text box, instead of linking to another internal page?

    I am working on a personal website, but I want to segment my bio into sections. Ideally I would refer users to "click to expand" under each segment, but I am finding that I can only link to additional internal pages. Any suggestions?

    Hi there
    As Lilybiri said, you could insert a Smart Shape and configure it as a button. Then have a second Smart Shape or a Caption with the hint text. Assign the action of showing the hint when the Smart Shape is clicked.
    Note that this would be an either/or situation. You could not perhaps show the Caption for a determined time and have it disappear.

  • Rich Text Box Issue - Expand to show all Text

    Hi everyone
    I'm having a pretty frustrating issue with the rich text box when viewing a line item (not when editing the item, but viewing the item)
    I want my rich text box to expand with the text, which I have changed in the options on InfoPath with the "Expand to show all text" scrolling option. However, in IE, the table row will expand, but the actual rich text box will not and I'll have
    a scroll bar there and you cant see all of the text at one time. If I look in Chrome, then it works the way I want and I can see all of the lines of text that were entered into the rich text box.
    The only solution for IE to work correctly is to change the Display settings to "Enable enhanced rich text content...". But the big issue with that is now you can no longer highlight the text (the highlight disappears right after highlighting it),
    and the users will need to copy text from the text box, so it renders the "enhanced" rich text box useless for us
    It's kind of a lose-lose situation that I'd love to find the solution for

    I guess a better solution would be how can you highlight text from an enhanced rich text box, because changing these to "rich text box" gets rid of font colors in the pre-existing data.
    The original problem was that they couldn't highlight text unless they went into edit mode

  • InfoPath 2013 - Rich Text box - Expand to show all text option not working

    I have create an InfoPath form and created a view which will be used for printing. I have a rich text box in this print view and the scroll option for this rich text box is set to "Expand to show all text". However, it is not working and it doesn't
    expand the size of the text box based on the content length.
    same thing used to work in InfoPath 2010.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Neelesh

    Hi Wendy,
    Here are the steps I have used:
    1. On default view added a rich text box.
    2. Created another view called Print and mapped it to the same Field which I added to default view
    3. Set the Wrap text and Expand to show all text on both the Rich Text Box Properties - in default view and in Print
    view. Also set the height of the rich text box to auto.
    4. Set the print views as the print view for default view
    5. Deployed the form to SharePoint Form Library
    6. Opened the form in browser
    7. Entered the content in the rich text box in default view. It expands well if I have much content
    8. Clicked on Print preview and that opens up the print preview and it shows the rich text box only one line in height and with scroll bar
    I missed to mention that it is a web browser enabled form and I am using InfoPath 2013 and SP 2013.
    It does work fine in InfoPath client.
    Thanks.

  • How do I show the anchor text instead of the link in a pdf?

    I'm using Adobe Acrobat 7 to create a PDF.
    I'm creating hyperlinks inside the PDF that link to Web links.
    When the reader hovers over the text I want the anchor text to pop-up
    instead of the Web link. How is this done?
    For example:
    If someone hovers their mouse over the text "click here for info" and
    the link is "http://www.hyperlinkforinfo..com"
    ...I want "click here for info" to pop-up instead of "http://www.hyperlinkforinfo..com"
    Thanks!

    As you can observe by a look-see at Acrobat's Link Tool dialog, there is no facility for adding a "tool tip" or an alternate text description.
    Nor can such be provided upfront in an authoring file and migrated into the output PDF.
    While a properly developed Tagged PDF supports providing Alternate Text description for the <Link> element this is focused to AT applications.
    Typically, entered Alt Text for the <Link> element will not "display" on screen ala "tool tip" idea.
    Keep in mind that the feature set associated with a PDF link annotation is not at all the same as what is associated with HTML elements.
    PDF (ISO 3200-1) and HTML (any flavor or 'recommendation') are rather different creatures.
    Be well...

  • Expanding text in an auto-sized popup window can cause the text to overflow

    First Topic includes a popup link. This includes rather long expanding text. When this is activated, the popup is too small to show everything, and has no scrolling possibility. Anyone know a workaround?
    I tried to report this as a bug through the Adobe Feature Request/Bug Report Form, but it vanished into thin air and I can't check whether it was recorded or not...

    Instead of an autosizing popup you could define a size that allows for the expansion or add some blank lines at the end of the popup topic, on opening there will be white space at the end but it provides expansion space. The latter will not work where the popup topics are long enough to invoke scroll bars.

  • How to Make an Expanding Text Container?

    Is it possible to create a div tag (or some type of container
    object) that can reference a large body of text (such as a long
    article for example) and only show the first few paragraphs with a
    link at the bottom to expand the container to show the entire
    contents pushing any objects below it further down the page?
    I'm using php to include a large html article inside of a div
    tag on a newsletter page and would like to learn how to create a
    partial display that can expand to show everything only if the user
    decides to read more.
    Could someone please point me in the right direction in order
    to learn how to do this?
    Thanks!
    ~Greg

    Here is what you have in the onclick event :
    if(document.getElementById('article_snippet').style.display
    == 'block') {
    document.getElementById('article_snippet').style.display =
    'none';
    document.getElementById('article').style.display = 'block';
    }else{
    document.getElementById('article').style.display = 'none';
    document.getElementById('article_snippet').style.display =
    'block'
    On first click, you are checking 'article_snippet' for the
    value of
    .style.display However, the wayt it works is that .style
    values are
    NEVER the one in an external, or even an embedded style
    sheet. They is
    ONLY the ones in *inline* styling. And your div does not have
    that
    style inline initially.
    So, on the first click, no such style is found, and the else
    phrase is
    run, setting an INLINE value for
    article_snippet.style.display to 'block'.
    Then on the second click the first condition is met because
    the element
    now has an inline style with display=block, And the script
    now runs as
    you thought it would on first click.
    Does that make sense?

  • Create expandable text boxes & maintain Indesign interactive features

    I have a form created in indesign which has interactive buttons included. I exported to pdf and now need to add expandable text boxes. I tried to do this in Livecycle but when i imported the pdf as a flowable form (with a view to make it dynamic) the interactive buttons i had created disappeared. is there a way around this so that i can create expandable text boxes but still maintain the buttons i have created?
    PS i am completely new to Livecycle

    Hi Reggie,
    Here are two versions. One form with a fixed number of pages and the other with a variable number of pages (you can add additional page 1).
    In the fixed number of pages, the click event of the index button includes the following instruction to go to a target page:
    xfa.host.currentPage = 1;
    This works because the page we want is always "1".
    If the form is dynamic and the number of pages can increase (or decrease) from those set at design, then we need to track the actual page number of each target page, at runtime.
    The script in the index button now looks like this:
    xfa.host.currentPage = page2.thisPage.rawValue - 1;
    Here the target page is page2 and on this page we have a field called "thisPage". The instruction is to jump to the current value of thisPage on page 2.
    For each target page that you want to index, you will need a hidden field (thisPage). You need to put this on each page and not on the Master Page.
    Hopefully the examples will help explain this.
    This is how we do it, there probably are other solutions out there.
    In relation to the second part, the link feature in Acrobat will not work with a form developed in LC Designer. Paul has a thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/1923918#1923918) with a PDF for attaching documents, which were then listed in a list box. This could help you in developing your form.
    Another option is to have a button which becomes visible is there are attachments in the PDF. The click event then shows/hides the attachment panel. The user can then see the attachment and double click on the one they want/need. I know it is not as clean, but it is easier to implement. The javascript for the button would be:
    app.execMenuItem("ShowHideFileAttachment");
    Hope that helps,
    Niall
    the text keeps collapsing...

  • Expanding Text Field - to a point

    Hi, I would like to specify "Expand To Fit" on a given field, so that it expands dynamically. But I would like it to stop expanding after a certain amount of text is added (10 lines), and at that point begin show the "+" sign bottom-right. I don't want to specify a Limit Length because there must not be a data limit, but visually it should stop dynamically expanding to show all after 10 lines, and start behaving like it has a fixed height at that point.
    Is this possible?
    Harry

    See if the following JS code helps in your case.....it is not exactly what you are asking but will not let the field expand though it allows multiple lines. So you have to set the initial(final) height.
    you should use this code in 'enter' event of the each field that you wish to restrict the height.
    var SOM = this.somExpression;
    event.target.getField(SOM).doNotScroll = true;
    Good Luck,

  • Expanding Text Style

    RH7:
    How do I assign a style to all glossary (expanding text)
    entries?
    Semicolon1

    Expanding text is inserted via the DHTML menu, as Peter
    indicated; that's why you can't select it from the Style drop-down
    menu. You can't indent the paragraph for the style because
    expanding text is designed to come immediately after a word. It
    isn't a separate paragraph; the text is inserted into the current
    paragraph. Because Expanding Text is a character style, you can't
    customize any paragraph properties.
    It sounds like you might find the Drop-Down Text style more
    useful. The text is designed to come after the paragraph that
    contains the drop-down link, so you can indent it and customize it
    like any other paragrph style.

  • Expanding Text

    RH7
    WebHelp
    I have an expanding text link that properly displays the
    expanded text, except for the color of the text. Regardless of what
    I do, e.g., change the color in the style sheet and even change the
    color within the Expanding Text text box, the result is the same --
    black text. What am I doing wrong?

    Welcome to our community, weltverbesserer
    Examine the HTML code behind your topic. You probably have an
    embedded or inline styling that is overriding what the style sheet
    specifies.
    To check for embedded styling, look near the top of the file
    and see if you have any code beginning with:
    <style>
    If you see it, select everything from
    <style> to the closing
    </style and delete it from the code.
    After you have done this, click File > Save All. Then see
    if things seem to display as you expected.

  • Creating an expandable text field without a scrollbar

    Hi All! Hope someone can help.
    I need to create a flowable subform that will allow text fields to expand without a scrollbar. I have been researching the forums and have found this thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2372965
    When modifying the template above for practice, The fields expand correctly but when i make one from scratch it doesnt work at all!
    Here are the steps I have followed in creating a expandable text field from scratch:
    1. Open Adobe Lifecycle Designer and open a plain blank form
    2. Take a "text field" from the object library and place it on the form
    3. I noticed there is already a blue border (subform) for this document by default for the new form so I changed the content from "position" to "flowed", flow direction from "top to bottom"  and checked "allow page breaks". Also changed the layout for y: autofit
    4.  I then right clicked on the text fields orange border and clicked "wrap in subform".  I changed the content from "position" to "flowed", flow direction from "top to bottom"  and checked "allow page breaks". Also changed the layout for y: autofit
    5. Finally for the text field itself I made sure that "allow multiple linkes" and "allow page breaks within content" was checked. Also changed the layout for y: expand to fit
    I still cant get it work am I missing something? Ive been twirking around with this for hours and this forum wont let me upload my example. Any help would be great!

    Hi,
    You need to save the form as dynamic pdf form i.e xdp and on exit of the text field only text field will be expanded.
    But make sure the main form should be flowed and page breaks should be allowed.Textfield should have the allow multiple lines option ,allow page breaks,and auto expand height(Y axis) should be checked.

  • Bit.ly URLs won't show up as links when exported to PDF.

    I'm trying to link some bit.ly links in my document and whenever I export to a PDF, they turn to text or they're clickable but go to an invalid page. I've created hyperlinks for them again and again, but now they're mostly just turning to text instead of even showing up as links. What am I doing wrong and how can I remedy this?
