  • PCI ATA expansion cards for PM G4

    Hi Folks.
So i bought a PCI ATA expansion card for my G4, but the bloody thing won't work. Despite having a Mac logo on the box, the drivers for the card are only compatable with Windows...
My question is, are there any PCI ATA cards around these days that are Mac compatible and dont cost an-arm-and-a-leg?

    What brand/model is it?
    Here's an alternate card http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Sonnet%20Technology/THDMW/

  • Mulitmedia Cards for Palm TX

Appreciate very much any assistance.  I have scoured the internet for any store that sells Multimedia Cards for Palm.  Anyone out there have a site that sells the Cards?  I have Meriam-Webster crosswords i bought at an airport a couple of years ago.  i can't find anyplace that sells these things.  Any help is immensely appreciated!

We're assuming you've installed Palm Desktop on your computer.  It is the main component on the Installation Disk that comes with every Palm.
The SD cards can be found at any computer or electronics store, camera shop, Walmart, Radio Shack, etc.   You want one that is 2 Gigabytes in size.
It is possible to install a program to the card, if the program was designed to run on there.  Some very large programs require certain files to go to RAM (internal) and others can be put on a card. Using Quick Install (another program that gets installed with Palm Desktop), you have the option of installing to either RAM, or to an SD card.
Leonydus, there is a User Guide also on your Installation Disk.  It will answer many of the basic questions you're asking.  The guide is also available online.  You can click on my "Manual" link below to find a link to it.

  • Expansion card for Zire 31+ the file pdb.

    Dear Madam/Sir.
I own a palm one handheld Zire 31 and I purchase an SD expansion card of 2.0 GB witch should fit, but my handheld does not recognize the card, what should I do? my second question is it necessary to download the file with the pdb suffix in order to add any Software? Thanks and best regards Gidi.
    Post relates to: Zire 31

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
A 2GB expansion card will probably not work in the Zire 31.  That model is limited to 1 GB cards.  You might want to review this thread on the subject.
A .pdb file is a data file, whereas a .prc is an application file.  What exactly are you referring to?

  • SD Expansion Card for Tungsten E2

    Hi everyone,
I naively purchased an 8GB SD card for my Tungsten E2, and when I put the card in the slot, nothing happened.  No indication that the Palm noticed its presence at all.  The card says AData Turbo on it, Class 6.  It has the notch and read-only lock switch mentioned in the Knowledge Forum's article on compatible vs. incompatible SD cards.  But the knowledge base doesn't have any specific compatibility information for the Tungsten E2 model.
Evidently this card is incompatible, but how can I be sure of getting one that is compatible?  Is there a maximum size limit?
    Thanks,
    Rand

  • Asus IPIBL-LB expansion card for usb3.0?

I am trying to upgrade my aging HP a6152n PC once again. I would like to increase USB throughput by upgrading to USB3.0.
I have windows 7 64 pro installed3 hard drives and have recently purchassed a external WD 4 TB mkybook to use as a backup. It works on the USB 2.0 port but it has the capability to run on USB 3.0. I would like to take advantage of the much higher throughput of the USB 3.0 if I can find a card  and driver that will work on my system.I tried a 4 port expansion card from Inateck but could not get it to work.   Windows device manager indicated Code 10 " This Device cannot Start"
Any Suggestiions or advice.   Thanks  wyuhasse

    Wyuhasse, welcome to the forum.
Here is a card that says it is compatible with Win 7 32/64-bit.  There is a "Built-in 4-pin power connector for receiving extra power supply from system".  You should be certain to connect it.  Read the Customer Reviews to see what users have to say about it.
I suggest checking your Inateck card to see if it has the extra power connector.  If it does and it is not connected, this could be the reason for it not working properly.

  • USB Port Expansion Card for SDXC Slot?

Are there any? I've seen plenty of 4-port USB PMCIA expansion cards... they're not compatible though, are they?
    TIA

Not for the SD card slot. That's really a very limited, single-purpose device, not adaptable to the great variety of devices that PCMCIA or ExpressCard slots can serve.

  • Need PCIE FW800 Expansion Cards For G5 Dual Core 2.0

    Hi Gang
Seems like one is always behind the eight ball trying to get ahead.
With the only available PCIe FW800 Multi Port Cards, they've taken away anything that offers more than 2 Ports. Everything is 2 PORT ONLY. There's nothing that I can find. And the prices for PCIe Multi Port FW800 Cards are a whooping triple of standard PCI Cards.
    The old issue;
Do Not put a 3rd PCIe card directly above the video card - DO NOT. I've already had overheating which spilled above in regard to my older Single 1.8 Can I trust the better cooling of the Dual Core to put a PCIE card directly above the Video Card?
If not, that leaves me with 2 PCIe Multi-Port Cards with 4 ports available total. But I need to read #5 External Storage drives total.
Unibrain repeater was recommended here, but can I read all 5 drives simultaneouly? SATA Card alternative? No Can Do - because #2 of these older external drives DO NOT have SATA control.

    Any other ideas?
    Thanx

    Hi direwolf
    Hi japamac
Daisy Chaining (as stated by Steve), is not recommended. In fact, it's dangerous if you're depending on reliability for expensive, extensive Video Media. I would never ever do it again
    I actually did buy two of these from OWC;
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apiotek/IE1007/
    BUT
Got problems; The cards went in like a breeze, but they're NOT reading any of the external Lacie Drives. The Native 800FW port in the G5 reads just fine, but the PCIe cards are not reading the Lacie's. Yes they are recogized in the system profiler. But I've got a mystery on my hands right now.

  • WIFI SD Card for Palm

I have frecently decided to start using wifi on my E2.  I now have the problem that Palm no longer makes a wifi card.  Is there another maker of cards that will do the same and allow me access to wifi?

The only WiFi SDIO card that is compatible with the E2 is Palm's. Have you checked Amazon or ebay?

  • Thoughts on Inateck 4 Ports PCI-E to USB 3.0 Expansion Card for Mac Pro (Early 2008 to 2012 Late Version)

Anyone adding USB 3 ports to the older Mac Pro desktop towers?
I looked at HighPoint, Orinico and StarTek but I'm leaning towards Inateck given their recent PCI-E board update specifically for Mac Pro.
Anyone have any USB 3 recommendations or horror stories?  I've got all 4 internal drive bays taken so I don't think I can easily get power to the board, so I'm hoping the internal PCI-E power will be enough for most USB 3 devices.
    thanks,
    Stephen

There is one that seems to be popular that works with 10.8.2 and above.

  • Best slot for new PCIe FW-expansion card

    Hi there,
I just upgraded my PM Quad with a NVIDIA 7800 GTX 512 card which occupies PCIe slots 1 and 2.
Now I will have to install a FW 400/800 expansion card for operation of an external audio interface. I know that slot 3 would probably offer the best performance for the next card to be installed (8-lane)- but is likely to obstruct proper air circulation for the fan of my graphics card.
So slot 4 (4-lane) would be the only alternative. I cannot judge if this would be sufficient for proper audio performance.
So, any comments from the audience?
    Regards,
    Oliver

Great - glad to hear that.
Just inserted my card into slot 4 - real plug 'n play - smooth operation - no complaints so far!

  • USB and Firewire Card for Mac Pro 3.0

I am running out of USB and Firewire Ports. Any suggestions on expansion cards for Firewire and USB??
    Thanks

The Sonnet PCI USB Express cards have this problem too - for the record. Sonnet know about the MacPro not waking with it installed, as do Apple. I am sure Apple willl come up with something, I may even find a workaround, but it has always seemed that expansion cards with all my Macs [ waaaay too many] have produced unpredicatable problems.
