Hi,
I don't think so. You have to use something like this:

  • Need expansion port 3 docking station for dv6-1211ax for home use .... suggestions please ...

i have a dv6-1211ax laptop and planning to get a hp expansion port 3 based docking station for home use ...  can anyone suggest or comment on how they really perform ..

I have a pair of HP XB4 Notebook Media Docking Stations being used on two DV7s.  I think they work quite well, unlike the current docking stations they use the expansion port 3 and you can power both the laptop and the docking stations from a single power supply.  Speaker sound especially subwoofer is much better than the laptops (these are 2009 and 2010 model DV7s so they have the Altec Lansing speakers (as does the docking station) vs. the 2011 laptop Beats Audio.
I also like the way the docking station raises the laptop 6-8 inches above desk level.
Do make sure your system is using the expansion port 3 though since at least some of the 2011 systems no longer have the expansion port (the connection from the station to the laptop is via USB 2.0 hopefully at some time the new docking stations will be updated to use USB 3.0) along with the laptops.
For a laptop that is being used a Desktop replacement I would highly recommend the XB4
p.s since HP doesn't sell them anymore you may have to go to Ebay, Amazon or a wholeseller)

  • Expansion port 3

A few years ago I bought an Pavilion Dv6 1260 Se Artist Edition and along with that a HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station. I have now upgraded my lap top to a HP ENVY TouchSmart m6 Seekbook and would like to know how I can still keep using my Notebook. The xb4 comes with an expansion port 3 but the new lap tops by HP don't so my question is how do I get them connected. Can someone tellme what kind of adaptor/connector I can use along with an image or item No. or name. Cheers!!! Rav j    Media Docking Station. Please inform what type of adaptor / connector / cable I need to be able to use it.

    Hi,
The new machines does not have docking port BUT "The docking station is compatible with all HP and Compaq notebooks having a USB 2.0 port" therefore you can simply use USB cable to connect

Please check page 1-6, port #1. You can use an USB cable similar to the following cable to connect:

  • Expansion Port 3 Extension Cable?

I have found the the expansion port 3 cable on my docking bay is far too short to comfortably connect to my laptop. Is there any where that I could get an extension cable for this? I've looked all over the internet and have not managed to find anything like this, but am desperately in need of some way to make the cord longer.
    This question was solved.

Ahh! Ok I follow now. Its going to be difficult to source one of these cables. There is none located in the HP store that I am aware of. I did a some searching and found a company that will make custom cables, which is one option. Here is their link: Custom Computer Cables
I looked through eBay and didnt find anything on there that would work. How long of an extension do you need?
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • MaC*MiNi's*Super*Secret*Expansion*Port?

Hi there, planning to get an Intel Mac Mini soon, but I could not test this out yet - I was wondering if anyone could answer my questions:
The Intel Mac Mini, as I've read on some documents, has a new wireless card from the old PowerPc Mac Minis (which uses a mini-PCI port). I read that it uses the new mini-PCI-express card/port format. Well I was wondering if this is indeed a standard mini-PCIe port, or is it a locked down Apple proprietary sort of thing? I was wondering if someone was able to (or could) swap out the apple cards with something else - say another flavor of mini-PCIe wireless card or an Intel mini-PCIe video capturing module. I reckon not many people would bother to since the wireless card is already included with the computer, but it's not a question as to why it shoud be done, but whether it's possible. Would really be nice to know that the mac mini has that capability since future hardware upgrades could be done.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies. It is the same port. I was wondering if the existing module could be swapped out. The picture you have is of the old airport extreme found in the powerpc mac mini. Those have a mini-pci bus. Notice the new intel mac minis have included cards that are different:
    Link: http://apple.qj.net/uploads/articlesmodule/34854_05qjgenth.jpg
It is said that this uses the mini-pci-express standard. Any thoughts if it is proprietary to the apple card only or could be swapped out with something else?

  • Server Ports on Expansion Modules?

So I've seen in Cisco documentation and on some other places that the Expansion modules on the interconnects can NOT be used as server ports for the chasis?
So on a 6296 FI you can only use the fixed ports for downlink/server ports? So that means you could only get like 12 chasis fully connected with 8 per interconnect?
What do people generally use all of that expansion module space for?  I just noticed in the emulator you could configure an expansion port as a server port, is that a bug?

Expansion modules allow Cisco UCS 6200 Series Fabric Interconnect to be configured as cost-effective 10-Gigabit Ethernet fabric interconnects and as I/O consolidation platforms with native Fibre Channel connectivity. The Cisco UCS 6248 UP has one slot for an optional expansion module. The Cisco UCS 6296 has three slots for an optional uplink expansion module. The expansion modules are hot swappable. Only the 16-port UCS E16UP expansion module using the small form factor pluggable plus (SFP+) interface is supported. I hope it will help.

  • What can be done with the PCI express expansion slot

Hello Mac world. This is Cee again with another wild question about the Macbook pro. I recently purchased a 17in Macbook pro with the discrete 1gb AMD radeon graphics card and I have a question. Is it possible to enhance this discrete graphics card using the express expansion port? I ask because I’m an intense console gammer and I would like to take this experience on the go with my Macbook pro. I know this Macbook can handle games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 if set to low settings, but is there a way to expand the graphics card using the express expansion port? I know there are other laptops designed specifically for the purpose of intense gaming, but I just wanted to try it out on the Macbook pro.
    Thanks for any help.

    Nope, sorry.

The MBP has powerful graphics, but for a limited time as games get more powerful
For computer gaiming you need a Windows 7 tower where the video card upgrade options are massive.
laptops of all kinds can't do this, neither can most Mac's, the Mac Pro has little or no graphic card upgrade options.

EDIT: the power on the usb ports work but data transfer does not.

The issue can be caused by the USB controllers. Please follow the steps below to reload USB controllers.
    1. Click "Start", type in Device Manager the Search bar and press "Enter". Click Continue if necessary.
    2. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the "Host Controller", click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Then, restart your computer and Windows will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.
If the issue persists, I suggest that you download the latest chipset driver and BIOS from the following website, and then install then in Windows 7 RC.

  • Adding additional FX0 ports on uc540 via gateways

    Hi,
Our sales rep has sold a UC540W-BRI-K9 to a customer but the customer doesn't have any BRI connections, they use PSTN lines.
The issue is that they have 7 PSTN lines. We can purchase a 4 port FXO interface card but it's not enough to connect all the PSTN lines because the UC540 has only one expansion port..
I guess the only option is to purchase a gateway device to allow the additional FXO.
My question is, which media Gateway is supported on the UC540 via CCA programming?
I know that SPA8800 is supported on the UC540 with the new software pack but it's only for the FXS ports.
    Are there any other devices?
    Regards
    Raymond

    Hi,
I am looking for possible solutions for adding an additional FXO line to a UC540 as well.  Mine already has the additional VIC2-4FXO module and all FXO ports are used.  From reading the Manuals, Release Notes, and Forums, it sounds like the 8800 will only support additional FXS ports.  I have not found a solid answer as to why that is.  It seems like it would be a hardware/platform overload issue for the UC540 to support more than 8 FXO lines.  Is this assumption accurate or is there something we can do about it?

  • Is it possible to install 3.0 USB port on HP 2000 410 Notebook?

    Hello Experts!
I'm running  Windows 7 64-bit on a new HP 2000-410 notebook. It has a 2.20 GHz Intel Pentium B960 processor and 3.85 GB of RAM.
While I can see it might be relatively simple to upgrade through an expansion port on a desktop computer, I don't know what might be possible on a laptop.
Amazon assures me it can be done, but before I try to figure out how to install a PCIe in the motherboard, I thought I'd best ask the experts first.
    Is it possible?
If so, is it worth it? Would I need an independent power supply, too?
I'd appreciate any advice. I thank you for your expertise in advance.
    Kate

HDE 2 Port USB 3.0 54mm Express Card if you have the slot room for express cards. I bought one from amazon for under 2bucks, got a powered usb 3.0 hub under 25 bucks and works great.
