EXPDB & IMPDP db version reqs

Hi friendz,
I read the impdp&expdp docs.
But it did not say there about database version dependencies.
For example, if an output of 10g Db expdp can be imported to 11g Db and vice versa.
Any idea?
Thanks

for a quick answer -
you can always import an older dumpfile into a database with the same or greater compatibility setting
you can never import a newer dumpfile into a database with a lower compatibility setting.
If you export from a database with a version of 11.2.0.1 and the compatibility setting is 10.2, the dumpfile being generated is compatible to 10.2 This dumpfile can be import into anything with a compatibility setting of 10.2 or higher, but can't be imported into a database whose compatibility setting is less than 10.2.
Hope this clears things up a bit.
Thanks
Dean

  • JDK Version req for OIM 9.1.0.1 Installation

    Hi,
As per Oracle's documentation, we need to use JDK 1_4_2_15 for Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0.1. Installation. In my machine when I checked Java Version it shows jdk 1.5_0_06. Is there any problem if I go with the default jdk version or I have to change it to 1.4.2_15. Please advise.

    This is given in docs:
    C:\>java -version
    java version "1.5.0_06"

  • PortalTools portal version req. ?

I'm about to install and configure PortalTools.ear (9.0.2.6.1) from the latest JPDK on an instance of midtier running Portal 9.0.2.3B (Infrastructure running RDBMS 9.1.0.4)
The release notes state that the min. requirement of Portal is 9.0.2 but gives no info. on minor release. Does this latest version of PortalTools JPDK require the latest version of Portal 9.0.2.6 or will it function properly on 9.0.2.3B of Portal?
    Thanks,
    Laith E.H.

    Hello Laith,
You do not need to have a 9.0.2.6 Portal to install the PDK and PortalTools version 9.0.2.6.1,
You can register and use PortalTools portlets into you 9.0.2.3 Portal.

  • Impdp taking long time for only few MBs data...

    Hi All,
I have one query related to impdp. I have one expdp file and size is 47M. When I restore this dmp using impdp it will take more time. Also initially table_data loaded finsih very fast but then later on alter function/procedure/view taking a lot time almost 4 to 5 hrs.
I have no idea why its taking long time... Earlier I can see one DB link is failed and it given error for "TNS name could not resolved" so I create DB link also before run impdp but the same result. Can any one suggest what could be the cause to taking long time for only 47MB data?
Note - Both expdp and impdp database version is 11.2.0.3.0. If I import the same dmp file into 11.2.0.1.0 then its done in few mins.
    Thanks...

  • IMPDP failed with ORA-ORA-39029- DW DIED error....

    Hi All,
We have a problem while refreshing the schema using expdp/impdp.
    Version: 10.2.05
    OS: HP-UNIX
    Export got suceeded.
While importing we get the below error at some point and import got terminated.
ORA-39014: One or more workers have prematurely exited.
ORA-39029: worker 1 with process name "DW01" prematurely terminated
ORA-31672: Worker process DW01 died unexpectedly.
Job "SYS"."SYS_IMPORT_FULL_10" stopped due to fatal error at 20:30:18
Totally around 37000 tables, we spilt the tables as no. of parfiles/dumpfile and try importing also failed with same error, but not for all the tables for few tables it terminated with dw died error.
Can you please help me to understand why it terminated for few tables any work around/fix for this could be great.
    Thanks.....

    Hi Abraham,
    Thanks for your response...
I dont remap anything, also the import is not failed at all the tables only few tables.
Export dump size is around 35gb.

  • Using expdp and impdp instead of exp and imp

    Hi All,
I am trying to use expdp and impdp instead of exp and imp.
I am facing few issues while using expdb. I have a Job which exports data from one DB server and then its imported so another DB server. Both DB servers are run on separate machines. Job runs on various clients machine and not on any of DB server.
For using expdp we have to create DIRECTORY and as I understand it has to be created on DB server. Problem here is Job can not access DB Server or files on DB server. Also dump file created is moved by Job to other machines based on requirement( Usually it goes to multiple DB server).
I need way to create dump files on server where job runs.
If I am not using expdp correctly please guide. I am new to expdp/impdp and imp/exp.
    Regards,

    Thanks for quick reply ..
Job executing expdb/impdp runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.6 (Tikanga)
    ORACLE server Release 11.2.0.2.0
Job can not access the ORACLE server as it does not have privileges (In fact there is no user / password to access ORACLE server machines). Creating dump on oracle server and moving is not an option for this JOB. It has to keep dump with itself.

  • How to import DDL for multiple tables referencing each other?

    Hello people,
I'm having a non-trivial problem. I need to copy a few tables from one machine to another, both 10g. Just DDL, data copying is not necessary. When I export the DDL to an SQL file using Oracle SQL Developer, the resulting file is refused at the import (again, SQL Developer). The problem is that every table references some other table(s), so every single "create table" command is refused, because the needed table is has not been created yet. What's the best solution to be applied here?
Maybe I can draw a parallel to adding packages in Debian. When you have two packages, A and B, and they depend on each other, you cannot install them using "dpkg -i A && dpkg -i B" nor the other way around. Both calls to the dpkg will fail, due to the missing respective package. However, installing them in one command ("dpkg -i A B") is the right way. This is EXACTLY what I'd love to do with Oracle. Tell it to wait a bit, to make sure that ALL of the necessary tables are specified, and then create them virtually at once. Can it be achieved with transaction management?
Thanks a lot for any help.

Use exp/imp or expdb / impdp
They will only enable constraints after all tables are imported.

  • Should I keep the type 1 driver?

I am an intern at FedEx, My project is to incorporate one of their databases on Microsoft Access with one of the Intranet website. The website should allow for a client to update the database, search for inquires, display recent inquires, ect... I used the sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver to do this. I have it working fine except that I have not implemented it on the network yet. However the purpose of the project is to update the database using different platforms and machines. Obviously once it is on the network, only a windows box will be able to update it, plus that database is limited to the functionality of the Microsoft driver. I guess my question is, will it be worth my time and effort to switch to a pure java driver or maybe even a type 3 without knowing much about the type 3 or 4 drivers. This means I would have to switch databases also. The current database is around 500 inquires. I am a CS major with an emphasis in java, I have never written any programs using JDBC before this one. It took me around a week to write this after reading up on JDBC. If so, any suggestions on what database and driver to switch to. If not, is their any thing that I should be aware of before putting it on the network? Any help will be much appreciated.

As of right now it only updates the database. I have not implemented the requests yet to make it three tiered. FedEx will pay for a more capable JDBC driver. I guess I don't like the bridge driver because when running the servlet off the network, you have to update the ODBC driver manager with your database. I felt the need for change because I was not aware that I could make it platform independent simply using the browser. I am currently using tomcat 5.0 to run the servlet. I think my design is pretty good. If you could please expand on having every browser connect to a servlet that would intercede with the database. Here is my design:

  • FC req copy into Simulation version

    Hi,
Having an interesting problem at the moment, we have PIR's created in ECC that are then reprisented by FC Req's in APO, so all is as expected.
The issue that I am having is that if I copy the active version for a simulation version the FC Req's are being shown as Dep demand!!
Have I missed something on the copy back process?
Plus I have noticed that if for example the FC Req is for 10 in the active version not only does it change the element type but also splits the order down (as if rounding was being used) so I end up with 5 dependent demands of 2.
    Thanks in advance.
Edited by: UKuser on Nov 19, 2009 2:38 PM

    Hi,
1)For forecast coming as Dep demand, check whether the
ATP categories, category groups are transferred
correctly from active to simulation version.
    2) Check the logs of copy version jobs which will give
some insight to you to act accordingly
    3) For splitting of demand, check whether the lot size,
product split etc., are maintained accordingly and
    transferred correctly

  • Version parameter in impdp

I want import 11g dump file into 10g database
in version parameter i have to specify 11.1.0 or 10.2.0
    thanks

You will need to perform expdp on the 11g database with VERSION set to 10.2.0, then perform the import on 10g.

  • [req]Updated version of Panda3d

There is already an very outdated package . I tried just changing the version number, but it didn't work out.
You can find the sources here.

Thank you for taking your time with making a PGKBUILD. It built and installed quite nicely, however I am having some troubles actually using it. It seems like python can't find the libraries. I tried adding the panda3d.profile, as it was in the old build, but didn't help.
    I get this error:

    ImportError: No module named direct.directbase.DirectStart
However, I noticed when I tried to start python from /opt/panda3d, I got another error.

    DirectStart: Starting the game.

As it states, it is looking for some pandac stuff, however (at least my) pandac folder is empty (except for a folder called "input" which is also empty).
I also tried using 1.5.0 which just got released, no help.

  • Expdb and impdb utilities

    Hello,
I'm in an ORACLE 10g database, and trying to use the expdb and impdb utilities, but it keeps saying the command is not found. exp and imp work fine. My host system is LINUX. Does something else need to be set?
    Rae

I believe that Oracle versions 10g and later provide both the orginal pair exp/imp, as well as the performance-enhancing *dp (DataPump) duo of expdp/impdp.  The DataPump pair do not use the same syntax as the original export/import.  As I recall, the dp enhancements are fairly ingenious, if you have time to read up on the dp tech notes.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Version 1 is not getting activated in PR and PO

We are using release strategies for PR and PO, along with we have to activate Version Management, which we have already activated (Active Version and 0 Version).
But now Version 1 is not getting activated in system only Version 0 is appearing in PR or PO, even after revoking PR or PO system is reflecting all the changes in Version 0. I have even taken print out of PO but new version couldnu2019t triggered. All the relevant fields have been mentioned in version relevant fields of PR.
The entire required configuration has been done, I have gone through whole forum many members have encountered the same problem but solution is not provided to any one. Kindly suggest in this regard.

    Dear Amir,
in pr version management , control data :select version active, version 0 ok, & external ok. &
field selection : reason required, short text req., requester req., external number & posting date are optional & save.
even with release strategy there is no problem
create a pr & save it.After release it. change the pr
    after u canfind the versions 0 & 1.
in po version management , doc.category f doc.type nb pur.org xxxx ,control data :select version active, version 0 ok, field selection : reason required, short text req., requester req., external number & posting date are optional & save.
go to Set Up Change Displays as per standard nb is already there no need to change & category is blank
in category u have to maintain f(is for po) & save it.
create a po & save it.After release it. change the po
    after u canfind the versions 0 & 1.
    Regard's
    Raj.
