Some sites may be mistakenly identifying Firefox 20 as Firefox 2, which is a very old version they probably no longer support. As a test, you could "lie" to the site about your Firefox version and see whether that little deception works.
This take a minute to set up. Here's how:
(1) Select and copy the following preference name to the clipboard:
general.useragent.override.elance''.''com
(2) In a new tab or window, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(3) In the filter box, type '''override''' and pause while the list is filtered
(4) Make sure '''general.useragent.site_specific_overrides''' is set to its default value of true (or right-click and choose Reset if it is not).
(5) Right-click anywhere in the preference list area and choose
New > String
then paste the preference name you copied. Click OK and enter TEMP or asdf or any text as a temporary placeholder. You should see the preference added in bold. Leave about:config open and switch back to this tab.
(6) Select and copy the following useragent string to the clipboard ''(it's all one line)'':

(That's Firefox 19 on Windows 7 32-bit)

Now try reloading a page where you need to upload (use Ctrl+Shift+r) and test that function again. Any change?

ThinkPad W530 2447 3U2 - Best Linux version supported all HW features

Hi Guys, I've tried to install Ubuntu, but with 12.04 LTS, 12.10 and 13.10 I have differents problems, with video (didnt display a second monitor), splash login window appears in black.
What is the OEM version for example Ubuntu? and Where I can download all ubuntu drives for my W530.

I think there is no OEM Ubuntu for Lenovo Thinkpad W530. In Ubuntu usually you do not need to collect drivers like in more common operating systems.
I do not have Ubuntu installed anymore, but on my W530 I have used Debian, Linux Mint, Ubuntu, and perhaps 2-3 others. Your solution will be similar to this:
If you can plug in your computer to an Ethernet cable, that will make the process easier. After you install Ubuntu, run Update Manager until no more updates. Then open Software Sources, choose repositories you want (I pick them all but not source code). Then open Software Manager or Software Center, Refresh (or update), install any updates it found.
If you know of particular hardware that is not working, try searching the Software Center for it. I always search for "Intel", "Lenovo", "Thinkpad", etc. That solves most issues.
It is difficult to completely answer your question because Ubuntu or Linux do not work the same as other operating systems. The problems you describe could be caused by not having configuration right, even if drivers are already there. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask again.

ThinkPad W530 - 2447 3U2 - Base System Device unknown

Hi guys, I tried to install a fresh copy of Windows Enterprise 7 64 bits, in my new laptop. I reinstall all drivers recommended in lenovo support (all) but in device manager window continues with yellow Base System Device message.
These are the list of drivers installed:

How to enter Enhancement Mode of ABAP OO Classes: Add Methods, Pre-Methods.

do you know how to enter the enhancement mode of the class builder?
I want to enhance a standard global ABAP OO class by implicit enhancements for inserting methods, attributes or pre- and post-methods - as described in <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/58/4fb541d3d52d31e10000000a155106/content.htm">Online help</a>.
I start the SE24 on my NW 7.0, but there is no menu Edit-> Enhancement Operations-> Enhance Class/Interface as written in <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/86/b83142680d5c33e10000000a155106/content.htm">Online Help</a>.
When I press the Display button, there is no enhancement button (the spiral), and the sub entries of menu Edit-> Enhancement Operations, like Insert Pre-Method are inactive (gray).
In SE80 I don't find them too. The only implicit enhancements I found are on the beginning and end of methods implementation code.
Do you have experience enhancing classes?

Then menu Class-> Enhance
Then you will be able to use Edit-> Enhancement Operations-> Insert Pre-Post Methodes

W530 Nvidia Discrete Mode - problems in PowerPoint and Excel

Hi, I've experienced problems with window refreshing in PowerPoint and Excel while running W530 in Nvidia Discrete Mode. While creating and wiewing PowerPoint 2007 presentation in normal view the slides' miniatures are not refreshing when selected. While viewing worksheet in Excel with border lines applied to cells they are not refreshing after scrolling down so the screen becomes completely unreadable. The problem does not exist in Optimus or Integrated mode.

Yeah, all updated via Lenovo "System update" and Windows update. I have not checked if the problem exists in newer versions of Microsoft Office - I'm using 2007. What is interesting in Optimus mode on external monitor running on Nvidia everything is OK - no display refreshing in Powerpoint and Excel is present only in Discrete Mode.

ThinkPad W530 docked and plugged all the time.

I just got a new w530 with windows 8 and a 9 cell battery. I am using the mini dock series 3 (without USB 3.0). My question is: is it ok for the battery life to leave it in the laptop knowing that most of the time the machine is docked and plugged? If I removed the battery, the machine is unbalanced on the dock.
The power manager app does not work on windows 8, so I cannot choose what profile I want for the battery.
What do you think?

I have exactly the same requirements and I'm also trying to figure out what's the best option for the battery life.

W530 - Which external speakers do you recommend ?

I know that the W530 + docking station is subject to very loud sound cracks. However I don't know yet if my setup has this issue because I don't have any external speakers connected to the docking station yet.
So could you recommend me any good external speakers for my setup in the following price ranges (USD or EUR) ?
0 - 50,
50 - 100,
100 - 150.
A 2.0 speakers setup would be great (I don't have enough space for a subwoofer).
Moreover I don't like speakers with lot of colored lights or leds when speakers are "on".
If possible, I would also privilege speakers (by order of high to low priority)
black or dark grey color instead of other colors,
mat finishing instead of glossy,
ability to tune bass volume directly on speakers instead of software,
bluetooth connection instead of wire connection.
These speakers will be used mainly for (by order of high to low priority)
music listening,
video watching,
gaming (maybe).

I was also looking at Bose Companion 2 for my setup. However reviewers seem to be divided on these speakers. As a matter of fact, these speakers are a bit expensive for the provided features IMHO.
Could you share why you choose these speakers and what are the Pros & Cons ? Thanks.

Low power error when W530 connects to dock station 433815U

Hi,
Just got W530 2447 and dock station 433815U. From Lenovo website, 433815U should support W530. I got error message said power voltage is lower than laptop needs when I connect W530 to 433815U with dock station adaptor(90W). Any BIOS configuration or drive I need to configure or install to be able to 433815U?
One thing I also wanted to mention is I tried combination W530, 433815U with W530 adaptor(170W), it works.

you mean you are getting error when using the 90 watts adapter with the dock? If that is the case, there is nothing you can do, other than to use the 135 watts or 170 watts adapter.
Otherwise, you have a modified power cable, which is not a Lenovo recommended accessories.

I'm still waiting for the parcel delivery from Crucial UK.
This SSD should work perfectly on your W520.
Several users on this forum use this SSD on their W520 without any issue.

Notebook with blue screen of death and HP Ceement errors

Hello, I am using:
Product name: HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC
Product number: QE310UA#ABA
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
I have been having a few message/errors lately and suspect they are related
1) The "blue screen of death" has shut down operations a few times now, that I have seen. When it reboots, all my passwords are gone, all new log ins are required. I know it's been happening more than I see because my passwords will dissapear while I am away from my laptop and I had not seen it.
2) Error message "HP CEEment has stopped working, windows is looking for a solution to solve this problem", comes up a lot. Daily, usually twice at a time. I googled this and a few "answers" said to look at your firewall and to "allow" HP Ceement. I called Norton and they showed me that it is allowed, so they are not the issue and to contact HP, hence why I am here.
3) Not sure if this last one is part of the issue, but it has come up more than once lately. Error "Your current settings do not allow file to be downloaded". I ssupect when the computer reboots after the blue screen the security is automatically heightened and that is why I got this, as well as loose passwords and a couple other "secruity level" type problems.

CEEment stands for Customer Experience Enhancement. CEEment (HPCEE.exe) is the reporting tool that HP uses to collect and study anonymous data. You can activate CEEment when you set up your computer. Or, you can activate using HP Advisor or HP Support Assistant at any time.
Commentary
It might be that the CEEment program is not the direct cause of the problem, that is, the issue might be symptomatic of the underlying problems -- it may be part of the train wreck, so-to-speak.
In any case, while the system is up and running you can try the following to fix the issue or to at least try to eliminate the CEEment program from the mix.
Download Install a new copy of the latest version of the HP Support Assistant on your system:
HP Support Assistant
If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package and “double-click” to install it, else Right-Click, Select run as Administrator and install.
Reboot the system
If you like, you can switch OFF the CEEment program and the other checks that HP Support Assistant performs on your system.

You may want to create an extra / new account with administrator privileges on the computer in case the issue is related in some way to your account.
You do want to make sure you have your personal data backed up -- make an extra effort to make sure your critical data is backed up somewhere other than on the computer. Make a copy of those files to a USB drive or to the Cloud. Make sure you include your bookmarks.

I Think It's Time That Verizon Opens Up Testing Of Updates & Firmware To The Windows Phone Community!!!

Waiting for Verizon to release updates on a reasonable time table has become a complete failure. If you only have a couple technicians in house testing the 4-5 devices you only carry and it takes this long, there's a problem with your technicians.
If you don't want to allocate the time, money and resources to a platform that your sales reps never push or even mention in stores, or on your website or over the phone, I think it's time to either drop the line completely or turn to the Windows Phone Community to do your job for you.
I think it's time that Verizon takes a queue from Microsoft and opens up testing of updates and firmware to any and all Windows Phone Users that want to help the cause and better support the platform in the process. You can have your legal department draft up a clause that releases Verizon of any liability if a user opts to test updates or firmware.
What else better than to have the Community help in the cause (in masses) over the limited few technicians you have in house testing out the updates and firmware. You will get all the feedback you will need to make a proper decision as to push the updates or firmware or go back to Microsoft and make fixes to any/all bugs that are found.
In a technological age we live in, to not take advantage of a community of users who would be more than willing to test out products, goods, services, you are just shooting yourself in the foot.
If you look at the numbers of how many users signed up to be part of Microsoft's Developer Preview app, you will see that there are millions of users willing to take the risk in order to help the cause while being a part of the testing process, making the platform better in the long run.
It's time for change, it's time to embrace the community, it's time to respond at let the community know one way or another if we are going to get updates and firmware in a timely manner... and not just one update or firmware in a year cycle.
Windows (9) is going to be released to the general public as Technical Preview on September 30, and you can guarantee that millions of users are going to download the OS and test it out and submit feedback via the OS and Microsoft's Community Forum in order to make it a success... So why don't you Verizon do the same and open up beta testing of updates and firmware to the Windows Phone Community here!!!
Think about it, take a poll... but do something, one way or another... It's time to stop keeping us paying customers in the dark regarding updates and firmware that improves the experience, enhances our devices and provides the security that we need for our phones. If you take good care of us, we will continue to be customers, renew our contracts or even sign up for Verizon Edge Accounts.
But if you keep us in the dark, you can guarantee that you will get customers leaving when there contracts are up because Windows Phone Users are loyal to Windows Phone... PERIOD!!!

Your posts was great you were not whining about your rights to file complaints to the FCC or FTC etc. One of the best I have read.
And I am not trying to sway you from your phone choice. If you looked at my avitar it shows apple iphones. But I use and have used androids and not Windows phones.
However your numbers of windows phone users all leaving over the issue is miniscule in the number of users of Android and iOS devices.
I have written many times I wish all the devices get updated like iOS devices do. But at present that is not happening

We just bought a few Power Books and need to now "which external mic should we buy to record voice onto our new websites being designed? The voice(s) will be incorporated into a custom song being composed." We don't have access to a studio at this moment and want to know what to buy to do a few lines. Oracle's Certification Benefit?

I have become disappointed in Oracle's own recognition of their Certification programs. I am currently OCP for 7.x,8.0,8i, & 9i, (and taking 10g and '10g on Linux Expert' in about a week.) I have been Oracle certified for almost 10years now.
Even upon completing 8i and 9i, Oracle neglected to send a cheesy Lapel Pin, as they had done in the past. I have visited the OCP website often, to see 'come back to look for more benefits soon' and a discount on Oracle Press Books. (Shopping EBAY often leads to better discounts.) Has anyone ever seen any other benefits (excepting attending OpenWorld?)
Having considered getting a Certified Master credential, I have determined it is cost prohibitive. Without a sponsoring organization, $2000 for a test, plus 2 ILT's, a total of $6k-10k seems excessive. Over the past 10 years, I have already spent upwards of $16k on my own education.
Oracle has not gotten the word out to managers and employers (via their sales reps) that obtaining a Certification from Oracle denotes any confidence from Oracle.
For those of us who have gone through the trouble of Certification, it would be a useful tool (when securing employment) to have some statistics on the numbers of Certified Individuals, ie:
# of OCP's for 7.x
# of OCP's for 8.0
# of OCP's for 8i
# of OCP's for 9i
# of OCP's for 10g
# of OCP'S HAVING BOTH 7.x and 8.0 (etc)
# of 9i Linux Experts
# of 10g Linux Experts
# of 10g RAC Experts
etc
It would also be useful to seperate these stats by Country, as well. At first, this may seem like an outrageous request (especially if all this information is stored in a MS database 8-) ! ) But if you begin to consider all the new features implemented since 7.x, you begin to realize this should be no big deal. I'll bet if Oracle Certification department posted the database names and table specifications, OCP's would come out of the woodwork to write the SQL.

That thread is exactly as applicable today as it was ten years ago... which is not saying a great deal. Generally the people who vehemently insist that IT certifications have no value have an agenda. Either they aren't certified, or failed a test and so must take the tack that the tests are useless and don't assess real-world knowledge. That said, the arguments against certifications generally come in some variant of the following:
- People cheat on the tests and therefore having a certification is not a reliable means of determining knowledge.
- The topics on the tests doesn't cover what you need to know in the real world.
- Employers 'in the know' realize the certifications aren't useful and ignore them.
People who are willing to cheat on the tests are probably also willing to lie about their experience, 'enhance' their resumes, and try to gain enough of a surface veneer of knowledge using 'Oracle Interview Question' books to try to get an interview and skate through it. Certifications didn't create these people and eliminating certifications won't make them go away. Any hiring manager must take due diligence to weed them out during the interview. For that matter, cheating is rampant in the universities these days. My wife taught college-level History and had 1-2 in every class that blatantly cheated on their work. You don't generally see people claiming that this means college degrees have become useless.
I write certification study guides. I know about the information that is asked on these tests. The vast majority of the information that is in the topics is valuable to know. I will grant that upgrade tests tend to be all over the map, and may test you on features that you might personally not use. I will also say that understanding the topics on the certification exams is not enough to be able to perform the activities of a DBA, Developer, etc. However, a test that truly covered all of the information you really need to know for that would be nearly impossible to write, to study for, and to pass. What the tests do provide is a general background in the information that someone working in that field should be cognizant of.
The last point I can state from personal experience is baloney. I have seen certifications provide a positive factor from both sides of the interview table. There is no way that a candidate with an 11G DBA OCP but no experience would be hired over a candidate with no certification but several years of experience. However, they do act to tip the balance in making decisions and they do help when resumes are in the initial sort process for determining who to interview. Even when the hiring DBAs don't give much weight to certifications, they never act as a negative factor. No hiring manager decides not to hire a candidate that's a good fit simply because they have an OCP and the manager feels OCPs don't mean anything.
Outside of the three above points, I can tell you that I am a better programmer and DBA in part because of certifications. I earned several certifications soon after the program started, but then didn't do anything to upgrade for several years. I didn't take the 9i DBA upgrade test until 10G had been out for several years. When I finally studied for the upgrade test, I found several PL/SQL enhancements that answered problems I was experiencing in development. I immediately started writing better code because I went after that certification. If you actually study for the test as you should, then that process will increase your value as an Oracle professional and boost your career prospects. Having the piece of paper and a line for your resume is just icing on the cake.

Theres a error code 6 on the installation process of R&R 4.5 on a win7 clean installation.
Anyone knows whats the error about?

Which version of windows 7 you running? Does it have bitlocker support? Refer to the other thread by mstcrow, that describes the 100mb System Reserve partition, created by windows install if you have Bitlocker support in your version of win 7.
Btw, did the support center tell you how to remove the system reserve partition(which contains windows RE, among other things)?

Could you run disk management and post the properties of this partition? If this a System reserve partition(bitlocker), or some other win7 install recovery partition that i am not familar with?
