Experiences with 10.1.8.3. and Windows 32 bit

Hi all,
we successfully installed 10.1.8.3. on Windows 2003 Server 32 bit. After the installation the crawling jobs works fine. But invoking https:\\<OSES_HOME>search/query/search and searching a keyword we get PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'GETRESULT'.
Does anybody else receive the same problem ?

We have an instance where we are getting this error but we are running on Solaris 10 64-bit version but the SES version is same (10.1.8.3.0).
Getting this error after the upgrade from 10.1.8.2.

Issue with Acrobat 10.1.2 and Windows 7 64-bit Preview Handler

Hi. I work in an enterprise environment that is currently migrating to 64-bit Windows 7. The only version of Acrobat we have approved for Windows 7 is 10.1.2. We're seeing an issue with this version that causes the preview handler to not work. The preview panel in Explorer is just white and will eventually give the error "Preview handler surrogate host has stopped working." I've tried to fix listed on http://www.pretentiousname.com/adobe_pdf_x64_fix/index.html but that registry key is already correct. Our current work around for these users to just install Reader X1 and make it the default PDF handler, but I would like to find a better solution. Is there a known issue with Acrobat 10.1.2 and 64-bit operating systems? Or is there a way to change just the default preview handler?

Most of the info on the web page you link to is 2-4 years old. I doubt it applies. Your workaround is actually the best solution: It's always preferred to use the latest PDF viewer. Reader and Acrobat can exist on the same machine.
Also, why 10.1.2? There have been 6 releases since then with documented security enhancements (meaning there are also published vulnerabilities which are patched), bug fixesm, and feature enhancments.

Are there any Canon all-in-one printers compatible with Yosemite v.10.10 and Windows 7?

My current Canon Pixma MX850 printer just died. I'm looking for an All-in-One, preferably Canon, printer that is compatible with Yosemite version 10.10 and Windows 7. I have spent this weekend researching with no matches. They all cover v.10.9 but nothing higher. I'm desperate for a replacement for our business. I was just about to order the Canon Pixma MX922 when I caught the specs.
I'm needing the following functions:
ADF with 2 sided ADF scanning/printing
Ethernet
Wi-Fi certificate
Wireless
Auto 2 sided printing
AirPrint and (google) iCloud print would be an add-on but not necessary.

The MX922 (known as the MX926 in Australia) is supported by 10.10 and Windows 7. Whatever site you were looking at may not have updated their details. Here is a link from the Canon Australia web site showing the drivers and applications for this model for 10.10.

Solution Center problem with HP Office Jet J4550 and windows 7 (64bit)

I have a problem. I have the Solution Center and a HP Office Jet J4550 and windows 7 (64bit). When ever I open the solution center, the solution center says " HP office jet J4550 series disconnected" When I open HP document manager, I can access the printer. Additionally, when I run the HP Print Diagnostic Utility 4.0, it sees the printer, no issues. I can print test pages. No issues. I downloaded the latest driver from the HP site (OJJ4500_Full_13, 299,359KB) Your insight is appreciated.

I have a similar problem with the J4580 and my new Windows 7 64-bit laptop. HP Solution Center says that the printer is disconnected. Furthermore, it can print some documents (short ones), but it was unable to print a 1-page 5MB pdf file. The printer truncated the page after printing just the top 10%. The printer is OK with my wife's Windows 7 32-bit laptop.
I've seen many other people complain about similar problems in this and other forums. Apparently the driver for J4500 printers is not compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. Can HP please provide an updated driver or patch?

Error while interacting with scanner acrobat 9.0 and windows 7 and user profile

After using Acrobat 9 for years I get a "Error while interacting with scanner". I have uninstalled and reinstalles the drivers for my Epson Expression 1600 scanner and still get the message. I did get it to work by changing to a differ window user account. Is there anyway correct the problem for the orginal user account.

As for the question as to whether the update broke I can't honestly remember, I know it worked finr with an old HP scanner I had but as to the version of Acrobat at that time I don;'t recall
Anyway getting fed up with this issue, I de-installed it, rebooted and re-installed.
Ver 9.0.0 says the scanner driver is not installed or connected
Ver 9.2.0 says the same.
Ver 9.3.4 says error while interacting while interacting with scanner.........
The scanner works with MSPaint, its own driver and application.

Hanging problems with JRE 1.4.0 and Windows 2000

We have written a Java application which is an editor using Swing components. Most of us happily run it on Windows 2000 PCs with a decent PC spec of 512 Mb RAM and 1 Gb Processors and Java JDK 1.4.0 installed. However, other users with smaller spec PCs of 128 Mb RAM and 450 MHz processors and using only the Java Runtime Environment v1.4.0 keep making the application hang.
I've done plenty of debugging and investigation and am now convinced that this is not our application software that is causing the problems - the hangs are never consistent in their behaviour. I don't think that lack of memory is the problem either as it hangs with no other application running and it only uses a small amount itself.
So what could cause this problem ? Is there a significant difference between using the JDK and JRE ? Could it be PC spec ? Are there some config settings that I should check ?
Any help would be appreciated as the application has become unusable for our users when we seem to be having no problems at all !

I have been tring to track down a similar problem for quite some time, with no luck as of yet. On 4 out of 6 machines running Windows 2000 Pro, any application that I write using any graphical component AWT or Swing, will hang at run time using JDK 1.4. I have no solution for you but I am hoping this message might spark some more advice.

I'm having problems with the wireless LAN Guest and Windows 7

Only with Windows 7 when a user logs in in the Guest WLAN two connections appear in Windows 7, the user authenticates on the page but does not leave the internal network. Can someone help me with this?

Client gets an IP address, accepts the certficate error message. But never gets to the webauth page.

Experiences with RED R3D: in CS5 and in general?

I'll be posting my first spot with footage from a RED One this coming week. I've only played with a few clips, and not tried anything "real" with it yet.
The footage is being shot in 4K 16x9, I believe at 23.976. Final delivery will be 720/30p for broadcast/cablecast. Fortunately, no sync sound to worry about in this one. I'm getting the RED drive full of footage tomorrow afternoon, so I'll have a little bit of time to play with material.
My system seems to be OK with the 4.5K clips I've been testing. I kick it down to 1/4 Playback and 1/2 Paused resolution, and things seems snappy. My system is an i7-930 @ 4GHz, 24GB RAM, GTX 480, 4-drive RAID 5 off mobo that serves as my primary editing drive.
I'm looking for any general advice for dealing with this material in general at the OS level, just in case there are any best practices, and any gotchas as far as CS5 is concerned. I'm trying to determine what the best sequence setting to use would be; do I want to use a matching RED preset, or post at my destination frame size/rate? My usual approach with my own 1080p material (DVCPROHD, primarily) is to edit in a full raster 1080p sequence, and then export directly to 720p for deliver. I'm thinking I'll take the same approach here, working at 4K and exporting to the final, but I'm open to suggestions. Working at a smaller frame size would obviously give me reframing options.
I may do a bit of light AE work on this; nothing too much as I've got flip this pretty quickly. I'm hoping to make this one shine--the producer is terrified of RED (of course, he's the one that usually shoots 35mm and has it telecined to miniDV), and if this goes well I'll have plenty more regular spots to do like this... and I'll get to raise rates!

I've worked extensively with R3D in PPSC5 and REDCINE-X.
First note--don't bother with Cine-X... Now that CS5 (as of 5.0.3) supports the new color science in build 30, there's no need to use Cine-X as an intermediary. In my experience it's both very slow and also VERY unstable. If you start doing too much, it crashes. And that's not just my system, word on the street is that Cine-X is unstable both on the PC and the Mac, period.
So, use PPro CS5 for everything you do with R3D.
If you're going to reframe, then yes, go ahead and edit at 720. There are RED presets for down in the lower ranges, too, so I'd use a RED preset at 720p30 in order to stick in the RED presets for editing. It may not make a difference, but I just look at is as best-practice... Either way, stick in a RED preset.
RED works beautifully in PProCS5... I've got a 920 with a three-disk RAID-0 and the GTX285 and I put it at 1/4 and full rez for paused and it works beautifully up to four layers. I've not worked past four layers, but it was still smooth when I hit four.
Note for you with the clip settings dialog for the RED... You can save presets, so go into your first shot from a specific setup, get it the way you like it, and then create a preset for that. Then just select the rest of the clips in the bin from that shot angle and apply that preset. Repeat for different shot setups as needed.
Adobe's done a great job building in really fluid, seamless support for RED, and with the 5.0.3 release, they've got support for the Build 30 color science as well.

Real-world experience with Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5+ and Powershell 4?

The support-ability matrix for Exchange (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff728623(v=exchg.150).aspx) says Exchange
2010 SP3 RU5+ and Powershell 4 are compatible. But, there is very little actual discussion about how well that works.
I use Powershell extensively for mission critical and somewhat complex processes, with Exchange 2010 on 2008 R2 and AD access/reads/updates.
Can I get a summary of the caveats and benefits from someone who has actually done this in a
real-world/production scenario (more than one server, managing from a separate non-Exchange server), and who has scripting experience with this configuration?
Also, how has this affected EMC operations?

I believe the matrix states that its supported to install Exchange into an environment where __ version of WMF is present. Exchange 2010, launched from a Win 2012 server, reports version 2.0 when you call $host. For example, calling the ActiveDirectory
module from EMS on an Win 2012 server (ps 3.0) fails.
I'll double check the extent of this scenario and get back to you.

How can I sync my iPod Classic with iTunes 11.1.4 and Windows 7 64-bit?

After assistance from ‘b Noir’ (and losing--then finally regaining--my DVD/CD reader in the process), I finally installed the iTunes Version 11.1.4 update on my Windows 7 64-bit PC. So I am again able to import music from CDs, play music on my PC with iTunes, and burn CDs as I could do with previous iTunes versions. Then, however, I purchased some new music and tried to sync iTunes with my iPod Classic for the first time since the update to 11.1.4. So far, I have been spectacularly unsuccessful. Can anyone help me?
With previous iTunes versions, sync was automatic when I connected iPod to a USB port. Now when I connect iPod Classic to PC's USB port (I've tried two different ports), iPod’s screen says “Connecting” but iTunes doesn’t open. And while iPod is connected to the USB port, I can't open iTunes by right-clicking its icon and selecting “Open.” (ITunes, however, always opens OK if iPod is NOT connected). With the iPod connected to a PC's USB port, I opened Windows 7 “Devices and Printers.” Devices shown included both (a) the “Apple iPod USB Device” and (b) “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.” I right-clicked each of these device icons in turn and selected “troubleshoot.” Both times, the report was “Troubleshooting couldn’t identify the problem.”
I am also unable to properly “eject” the iPod. I tried ejecting (a) from the Windows taskbar's Notification Area, (b) from Windows “Devices and Printers” and (c) by right clicking the iTunes icon and selecting “Eject.” Nothing worked, so I reluctantly pulled the cable out of the iPod without ejecting. That causes a yellow triangle with an exclamation point to appear in “Devices and Printers” for my PC—which disappears after shutting down and rebooting the PC.
If I start iTunes and THEN connect the iPod Classic to the USB port, iTunes does nothing and almost instantly freezes (shows as “not responding” in Windows Task Manager and I have to close it via Task Manager).
Suggestions, please, on what I need to do? My iPod Classic continues to work just fine, but I can't put any of my newly purchased music on it and I guess it will become an expensive paperweight if the battery happens to run down. If nothing else, is there an old version of iTunes I can download somewhere that likely will work with the iPod Classic and my PC setup? Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for your response--yes, I've seen the TS1363 document.
I was able to open iTunes, start the iPod Diagnostic Device Connectivity Test, and connect the iPod when prompted to do so. The only problem reported by the diagnostic program was "No iPod, iPhone or iPad found." So it does seem as if the TS1363 document should apply. But I have tried connecting the iPod after executing each of Steps 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 shown there and nothing has worked so far. Details follow:
--Went through the iPod Classic troubleshooting assistant--except I did not "reset" the iPod (because having all my "old" music available on the iPod has value to me).
--Restarted iPod Service.
--Restarted Apple Mobile Device Service.
--Verified that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed. There is no down arrow or question mark or other indication of problem with it.
--Tried two different USB ports (I assume that is what is meant by "change your iPod's drive letter"?).
--Temporarily disabled Norton Antivirus.
For some reason, there are 368 files and 60 folders in the Temp folder under my user name, and it looks like at least some are "read-only." Windows wouldn't let me delete or move the folder, even after I turned off Norton AntiVirus and closed the programs in the "Notification Area" that I could figure out how to close.
I'm very reluctant to get into messing with Config files or registry keys. And I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes 11.4.1 so many times. I'm not sure what to do but am considering uninstalling all of the Apple products (again) and try installing an older version of iTunes. Or maybe I should try to install iTunes 11.4.1 on our Windows 8 laptop and see if the iPod will connect to that (although I really need to be able to sync to my desktop PC). Probably won't have time to do either for a few days--too many other things to do. But please let me know if there's something more that's relatively simple and low-risk I could try. Thanks again!

I have a 2008 iMac 21.5" 10.6.8 Snow Leopard with 4.1.3 VMWare and windows 7.Mountain Lion initially refused to down load as I had back up on the HD. this was removed and installation was accepted but froze in the initial stages with 33 mins to go.

I have a 2008 iMac 21.5" using 10.6.8 Snow Leopard with VM Ware 4.1.3 supporting Windows 7. Initially ML OSX refused to install due to Back up on HD which I removed to trash.It then proceeded but froze up in the initial stages with 33 mins remaining. I was lucky enough to quit and restart using 10.6.8. With all the problems on this chat line, it appears it may be best to leave Mountain Lion well alone, and cut losses rather than tempt fate.Has anybody anything positive to say or help with?

Issues with iTunes 11.1.5 and Windows 8.1

        I recently upgraded my iTunes to 11.1.5 on my Windows 8.1 computer, since the upgrade iTunes has become unusable. Before the upgrade I had an occasional error, device not recognized or a download error, sometimes i had to unplug and then plug back in in my devices in order for iTunes to recognize them. I have an iPhone 4s, IPad 2, and iPod Touch all are affected by the change in iTunes.
         After the upgrade none of the devices when plugged into the computer will be recognized by iTunes, even after multiple attempts I get an error that states there was a device error. iTunes will also not download any updates from the store, nor will it download any music or movies I have purchased. I have received the following errors so far with the iTunes upgrade.
0xE800065- could not connect the device, error 8008 – unable to download update, iTunes (or other apple program) has invalid signature and will not be downloaded.
       If I am able to get the device recognized in iTunes it will appear but only a yellow bar will be visible across the bottom of the screen and it will not sync or allow me to change anything with the device. Action taken so far..
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes TWICE, using the order and instructions provided to me by Apple support, I had to DL the file itself at a neighbor’s house since it won’t DL here. I have tried to do the name and rename trick and this doesn’t work either, also tracking the device down in my device manager and uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers has done nothing. I have now run out the options provided to me here so far… anyone official or otherwise have anyway to get me working again??

it works at first then after trying to update a few apps (the third one this time) iTunes again stops working and gives me the 8008 error.
Okay ... let's try seeing if that one is the root cause of the errors.
Try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

Does that calm down the 8008s?
