Has anybody run accross this error while trying to run a batch in Hyperion Reports:

The book the batch is running is big...

Have you ever successfully scheduled a batch? Make sure the scheduled batch name does not contain an ampersand "&" symbol or an apostrophe/single tick symbol. Those cause batches to error out for us.

Unable to run reports in hyperion 11.2

Hi All,
While running the reports via workspace in 11.2 version I see a blue circle rotating but nothing happens. I have verified Application/Reporting Analysis/Event viewer logs but did not found much information regarding the issue.
If i restart the services then Users are able to run the reports, but the same issue is repeating randomly for Users at regular intervals where i cannot restart the services all the time.
please help me out with your valuable suggestions.

On the Financial Reporting Reports Server, enable TRACE logging.
        a) Make a backup copy of Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/EPMSystem/config/fmwconfig/servers/FinanicalReporting0/logging.xml
        b) Edit the following entries in the file:
          Ex :
            </logger>
                    <logger level="NOTIFICATION:32" name="oracle.EPMFR.access" useParentHandlers="false">
               <handler name="epmfr.access-handler"/>
            To be this:
            </logger>
                    <logger level="TRACE:32" name="oracle.EPMFR.access" useParentHandlers="false">
               <handler name="epmfr.access-handler"/>
               </logger>
for all EPMFR and Save and close the file.
While will give more information with respect to the issue.
Try to test the Reports performance by running FR Reports against Essbase connection if your data source is Planning and disable MDX option for that select the grid in the report > right-click > Data Query Optimization > Uncheck select use of MDX Query.
Moreover Log files in TRACE 32 mode will give you more details about the issue.

Error in Informatica while running Customized Workflow - LM_36488

I am working on Customization to add a new attribute to an existing dimension table in the Oracle Business Analytics data warehouse.I am using Informatica 8.6.1.
I am copying the Standard Mapping and workflow from the SDE_ORA11510_Adapter and SILOS Folder to a Custom folder and when I try to run the Workflow after validation in Informatica , I get the below error in the Workflow:

I am facing similar kind of error.
I have set up the new OBI applications environment with Informatica 8.6.1. I have started the repository and integration service. I am able to run the customized mapping successfully. But when I try to run the vanilla mapping, it throws an error.
ERROR : VAR_27086 : (221230|7712) Cannot find specified parameter file [b2b/b2binf/server/infa_shared/SrcFiles/SDE_SBL_Vert_78_Adaptor.SIL_CopyRunTableToOLTP.txt] for [session [SIL_CopyRunTableToOLTP.SIL_CopyRunTableToOLTP]].
What I observed is there is no such file SDE_SBL_Vert_78_Adaptor.SIL_CopyRunTableToOLTP.txt in the src file directory. Do I get this parameter file with the installation? I have copied all the src files that were generated by the OBI apps installation into the src file directory but it did not have this file.
This is the case for all vanilla mappings.
Please let me know where can I get these parameter files.

Running the Scripts of Essbase in Server rather than in Client

We have Scripts which run for different Loads like INK/TONER/FAST etc. The Essbase Version we use is 11.1.2.2.
The content of the Scripts are as below.

To run the above Script the User will install the Essbase Client in his PC and startEsscmd.cmd is executed as they will map the Folder to their PC using U Drive Version. This folder exists in Server.
Now the requirement is to change the Script running with User depending on Essbase Client. We need change the Script to run in Server itself when the users runs the script.
I want to execute this StartEsscmd.bat with the one available in Server as the below one
call F:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\bin\startEsscmd.bat U:\FAST\sub\sub\Ink_Assumpt_Extract.cmd . Rather than users installing Client.
Is this how we can make the script to run in Server itself. Or any other process. Please help on this.

Hello Experts,
These batch scripts are dependent on Informatica Environment as well. Once all the Essbase batch files runs there will be data files in DAT Folder and using the timestamp of current month these data files will be send to Informatica Env and there one Job runs which will convert all the .OUT files into a .DAT file and load into DB. Its the Process.
Now we cant change the entire process but need to get rid of Essbase Client dependency.
All i want to know is if we change the path of the files from
call C:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient\bin\startEsscmd.bat
to
call F:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\bin\startEsscmd.bat
or
call %ARBORTPATH%\bin\startEsscmd.bat
will the files runs in server side. I tried with this but getting an error saying
System cannot find the path specified. Please help.

Hyperion Planning is Crashing Frequently

Hi Experts,
We have the Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1 in Windows 2008 64 bit env. The Planning services are crashing very frequently. We have the JVM Heap Size and 512 MB and 1024 MB. We also looked at the Physical Memory usage and it looks fine.
Following is the error in Planning logs.
Not sure what is causing the crash. Do I need to change any settings / JVM Heap size?

I have seen a similar issue(but in web analysis) which was caused as a result a large number of threads are created and an OutOfMemory exception is thrown.
This was reported as unpublished BUG 12887340 - WEB ANALYSIS SERVICES DOESN'T RELEASE BACK MEMORY

I guess you are still on base 11.1.2.1, many performance realted issues are fixed in the patches released, you may want to move to the latest one.

Hyperion Workspace...

Hello Experts,
Whenever I run job in Hyperion workspace, it creates 3 outputs.
First is bqlog_<filename>,
second the simple output of the bqy file
third the web client version of the bqy file.
I want to hide the bqlog_<filename> from every user.
And even an user with Viewer and explorer provision is able to see the web client version output..well they are not able to open it but still they could it there on the workspace output folder.. so I even want to hide this outputs..
So please experts help me to solve the issue.

But need more help.
We are currently on Hyperion 9.2 but at the same time i m getting another server ready with Hyperion System 9.3.1.
Now in the older system we have folders in workspace and in the same folder i m importing the .bqy as jobs and as well as getting the output in the same folder. But in the output folder the users( according to their provision ) cant see the unwanted things. Like i said before. So, I just want to replicate the whole thing to the new system.
So...
Lets say for example..
User1 who is provisioned as Viewer and explorer , logs in workspace.
He see the folder Folder1 in workspace..
Now I as an administrator , have imported a akp.bqy file as a job, scheduled it and everything else..got the output in the same folder i.e in the Folder1...
Now when the User1 open the output folder.. He could see 3 outputs
bqlog_akp.bqy
akp.bqy (simple version)
akp.bqy( Web client version)
As I mentioned before he is provisioned as a Viewer and Explorer.
He could see the content of bqlog_akp.bqy
He could see the content of akp.bqy (Simple version)
But when he tries to open web client version , it throws an error saying that he is not provisioned to see this file...
Thats is perfect ...he cant see the file ...as he is not provisioned..
And the issue is as an Administrator I dont want this user User1 to see the unwanted outputs.
So now may be you could help me with this problem...

Buisiness Rules not running properly

I am using Hyperion 11.1.1 and I have created planning business rules in Calc Manager using RTP variables. The rules get deployed without any errors. When the rules are run from planning, we select the values for the variables in the prompt dialect. The rules starts running but after sometime, the prompt window box gets converted to the form page on which the rule is run instead of showing "Rule run successfully". But quite strangely, some time rules successfully runs. But most of the time, the rule doesn't run. I am not sure whether it's getting timed out or not. Can anyone throw some light on this strange behaviour? Would appreciate your help.

I then closed out of outlook completely. I opened webmail and created a client-side rule that moved emails from myself to a specific folder, marked them as read, and with high importance. The rule kicked off automatically and sorted my email
into the appropriate folder.
According to this deacription, it seems that the Inbox rule created in Outlook Web Access(a Webmail client for Exchange) can work automatically. If so, I think the issue should be related to Outlook client.
Since the issue occurs whenever you checked "Used Cached Exchange mode" or not, we can restart Outlook in safe mode to check whether the issue continues to confirm if it is caused by any third-party add-ins.
Please update your Outlook 2007 to the latest version and remove all Inbox rule to re-create them one by one to check whether the issue persists. If it doesn't work, please change a computer to have a try.

Error while scheduling a Hyperion Interactive Report

I'm trying to run a scheduled Hyperion Interactive Report (version 9.3.1). The report is scheduled to run for 1st of every month. After the report is scheduled. When a user tries to run the report on demand.

check your discoverer user role using:
select granted_role from dba_role_privs where grantee=upper('<username>');
from your database. the database to which the desktop is connecting.
check for connect, resouce, multiorg roles.

If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.

Extraction of Data from ECC using ABAP Stage in Datastage

We are required to extract the customer master data from GFIMS SAP ECC5.0 system. This extraction involves fetching of data from 5 different tables. To attain this we are using ABAP stage in DATASTAGE.
For every run the ABAP stage of DataStage generates the ABAP program in DataStage, will place it in the SAP system and extract the data by executing the ABAP program.
To be able to use this ABAP stage we need to integrate the DataStage with SAP system. We have to send the cofiles and data files to SAP, these files will install a RFC enabled function module and user profile components in SAP.
They say, there is a security flaw in the function module component and this will lead to exposing of complete SAP system to outside members.
Please advise me to do alternative Ways.

You dont see the data source in R3? When you created the data source using Tcode RSO2 you would have put the data source under some application like SD, MM etc.
Please check in the respective application for your data source. If still the data source is still not seen, then check whether the data source is active or not.

Execution Plan Run is not visible in Current Run tab

Hi,
I have created the EP and I have build the EP successfully. After that I am clicking on the Run tab. It says the task has been submitted succesfully to the DAC server.
But, when I am seeing the status in the Current Run tab and also in the Informatica Monitor, My EP run was not visible. There is no record created for this run in the Current Run tab.
Anyone has faced this kind of issue earlier. Please advice me how to resolve this issue.

Saleem its strange. I did not came across this any time. Is it happening for all the Execution Plan's. By restarting the DAC server is it working. Sometimes we may face these kind of problems with DAC and with restart most of them will be resolved. If it gives problem always then there is somthg wrong i believe.

RPD as a Data Source in Informatica

I have a question. Has anyone ever tried importing the BI service as a datasource into Informatica? I'm posting the question to the Informatica community too. (OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2 & Informatica 8.1.1)
Since it's ODBC, I'm thinking there may be some flexibility. I can see the dimension objects from the RPD show like tables in a schema when importing it. However the objects are empty. No columns.
The reason why I'm attempting this is because we're trying to get to a database that cannot connect to Informatica due unavailibilty of ODBC drivers for the OS. However the db can connect to the server where the BI server resides.
Maybe I can retrieve the data from a connection pool that'll be added to the RPD. However dont expose it, but transform it (ETL) then load it to warehouse. Subsequently exposing it after it's been loaded.
Any one ever attempt something like this? (Not our first or second choice.)

Here is where we are with our current approach:
1. Have MySQL tables mapped as source in RPD
2. Have MySQL tables exposed in Presentation Layer
3. Can run answers query against MySQL data
Informatica
1. In Source Analyzer select Import Tables
2. Select Oracle BI Server as ODBC data source
3. Enter Connection Information
4. Use Admin Username and PW to connect
When I view the list of selected tables have two problems:
(1) The table names used are ones used in the Presentation Description (ex: - Account or - Account Address) which when selected does not match the physical name and causes an issue.
(2) The selected table list displays the presentation names for all of my Oracle imported tables but I do not see in this list the MySQL tables
Any help getting both 1 and 2 resolved would be appreciated.
