Expired 02 cartridges

I had stocked up on cartridges not realizing that they were dated and would not work after a certain date.  Several gave me the "expired" notice and got all but the Magenta fixed.  Seems all the new ones I had were expired already.  Dropped those off for a rebate to Staples today and got a new one while there.  Came home, installed it and STILL get the expired cartridge notice.  Why??  Turned the printer on and off several times and still it tells me that it is expired.  Now I am beginning to wonder if the 3 that I tried before, were indeed expired or just the same thing I am experiencing now.  Anyway, HOW do I get it to recognize that I have a new cartridge?  I did get it to print out but when I turn it off and then back on, it still gives me that annoying notice. Any explanation or fix for this, would be appreciated.

OK, this page indicates that the C5180's ink expiration can be overridden. I do not see any procedure in the manual, but the manual says it can be done by following information given in the ink expiration message.

  • Photosmart C6180 All-in-One: Replace cartridge message after already having replaced cartridge

Would appreciate ideas on how to resolve this issue with Photosmart C6180 All-in-one Printer.
Receiving "Cannot Print, Replace the following empty ink cartridge(s) to resume printing."
Replaced cartridge with newly purchased cartridge (so not expired) and still receiving same message.
    Thoughts?

All cartridges (from original to replaced ) were HP ink cartridges.
    No refills.
    No non-HP ink.
    All are now within expiration.
Issue appeared when yellow cartridge ran out of ink.
    Printed black .
Went to store ( STAPLES ) and purchased 02 yellow XL plus 02 combo pack .
Replaced yellow with 02 yellow XL.
It did not recognize new replacement cartridge.
Replaced yellow with 02 yellow from combo.
Again did not recognize second new replacement cartridge.
Per HP, replaced  'expired" cartridges (not yellow).
     No change.
Did Power on Reset / reseat all cartridges OR reset voodoo.
Iink levels still 0 but able to print self test  in color and  photo.
Turned off PC and printer for 2 days.
Now back to three cartridges at ink level 0 and 2 need to bne replaced.
    Only prints black.
I tried Power on Reset and repalce cartridges, but same result : Black only : replace empty ink cartridges.

  • HP ink cartridges

I just exchanged my HP 3700 printer for another HP printer. They don't take the same ink cartridges. I have total of 8 that I need to exchange for cartridges that will work with new printer. Who do I sent them to? My case # is 807-0506642, they said you would take care of exchange or refund. Please advise. VL120

Hi, All of them should have expiry dates printed. Nearly all printers won't accept expired cartridges anyway. Regards.

  • Factory Reset 8180 without cartridges

Hi. I have an HP Photosmart 8180 which I had set to use a static ip address.
It used to have cartridges randomly "expire" (are they diary products?) in turn, and would not print b&w nor scan in any manner without the culprit being replaced. That's the reason why I bought new ones.
My principal printer is now a mfp lexmark colour laser w/ ADF, and I have assigned it the usual IP address.
I'm planning to keep the HP Photosmart 8180 as a backup photo and 4x6in printer.
I need to change the static IP assigned to the HP photosmart 8180, but it won't let me access to the settings/setup/whatever menu if I not replace the cartridges firts. All of them.
Now, I don't want it to conflict with the other printer, and I don't want to change the lexmark's ip address and set it up again on the clients.
Is there any way to factory reset the HP so that it will fall back to dhcp at least, without using the integrated touchscreen, or to access settings bypassing the "missing/expired" cartridge warning?
The user manual only documents doing it from the touchscreen, but I have seen HP staff PMing users with instructions to reset printers differently

    well, solved it.
While the printer is ON, press both "print photos" and "red eye removal", then enter the sequence "red eye", "print photos", "red eye" to access the hidden menu.
I reset it from there, then it's configurable from the Embedded Web Server even if the touchscreen is trying to force a cartridge substitution.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus will not print

My 2 month old printer will not print unless I open and close the print cartridge door. The printer screen says it is printing, but nothing happens. I have followed all of the steps on line, but nothing works. Anyone else have this problem?

Does your printer display "Printing..." on the control panel, but never prints?
I had such a problem. The only way I could get mine to print was to unplug the power cord and plug it back in.
I found the problem was an "expired" ink cartridge.  I replaced the cartridge with a new one and the problem went away.  Check your ink cartridge statuses by using the Control Panel functions.  If you see one that is expired (my panel displays a yellow exclamation mark on that cartridge's icon), try replacing it and see if the problem goes away.
My problem occurred whenever the printer went into "standby" mode.  I think when it wakes up it checks the cartridges and when the firmware finds an expired cartridge it locks up.  Just an educated guess.
Good luck!  And if this helps, please click the Kudos button for me.

  • Photosmart C6280 Can't bypass the warnings and print only in black

I have a photosmart C6280 printer and i want to print in black only, but i can not bypass the "low ink" errors and "expired cartridge" errors to proceed.  I've changed the preferences in my print options to black only but the printer is still flashing  "low ink" or "expired cartridge".  The black ink cartridge is full and in date btw.  I'm afraid of going to buy new colored ink and it still not work, then I'm out of pocket a lot of money and stuck with colored ink cartridges I can't use or return.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program...still nothing.  I'm beyond frustrated.

    Hi @hatfieldnomore,
I see by your post that you replaced the black cartridge and aren't able to continue printing. You are unable to bypass the "low ink" errors and "expired cartridge" errors to proceed. I can help you.
The printer can operate only for a short period of time with ‘out of ink’ cartridges. All cartridges must be installed for the printer to operate and they must have sufficient ink for servicing, in order to prevent the printhead from drying out.
I have provided a document for Printing with Depleted Cartridges.
This is for the error 'Ink expiration near' Message Displays on the All-in-One.
    Have a nice day!

  • Have a HP Officejet Pro L7555 all in one. Regular Model Number SNPRC-0605-01

I have used it very little. I bought it so I wouldn't need to keep buying ink, however unto my knowledge, HP put a time chip in the ink dispensers an it tells me to replace the ink cartridges. I checked them and they are full. Can I reset the date chip and if so how? I am not going to spend another $100 plus dollars on ink for this printer until it is really needed! Thank you.

    Hi tiredpoppy,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see your HP Officejet L7555 is showing as offline so you are not able to print to it. I also see that you feel it is the expired cartridge which is causing this to happen. The cartridge would not have any sort of effect on the connection of the printer.
I suggest you start here: 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the HP Printer Will Not Print
Please let me know the outcome, I will watch for your reply.

  • How do I override expired black ink cartridge error on d145

My All in One d145 printer started to show a black ink supply expired error.  I replaced the old black ink cartridge with a new one but it too is expired.  It was new and still in plastic so the ink should still be good.  When I get the error the message window says to hit enter and continue printing but then it just sits there (and doesn't print).  I have to cancel the print job to get back to the time and date window.  How can I override the expired ink supply error.
I have tried to reset the computer date but this doesn't work (seems like a lousy workaround anyway).  Neither does resetting the printer date (in fax settings).
I've read something about resetting the internal clock battery in the printer but am not sure if this will work on a d145 or how to do it.
I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO OUT AND BUY A NEW INK CARTRIDGE - the one I have now was new and in protective plastic.
HELP me to make it work.  And Thanks

This is the only place in the entire HP world that I have found any mention of expiry dates, the tables are what I have been looking for in relation to a deskjet 3050 and cartridge 301 which I am considering buying. Where can I access this information for the 3050/301 combination?
The ink expiration is only an issue for printers with separate ink supplies and printheads.  There is no expiration with the Deskjet 3050 or the 301 cartridge.   There is an "end of warranty" for these supplies as described here, but that is not an expiration.  The cartridges have a shelf life, for longest life in storage keep the package oriented as it would be hanging on a store display and keep away from heat sources during storage.  I have used similar cartridges years beyond their end of warranty without issues.

  • Cartridge Expiration in stock

    Hi,
I am from India and an HP cartridge retailer. Of the cartridges in my stock, 818 small Tri-color and 704 Tri-Color small says sep 2013 which is supposed to be expiry date I suppose. They still are not sold. Does the expiry date means they wont work after sep 2013? If they can work, how can I assure the customer they will work and what steps to take if any problem arises? If they will NOT work, can they be returned to HP for replacement or extention of the expiry date?
The cartridges are not cheap, therefore I am losing bucks which I invested on these cartridges. And because of such expiry date printed on the cartridge, making a customer think not to take a chance buying them.
    Please suggest me a solution.
    Thanks

The date printed is the expiration of warranty, see the document here for information. There is no cartridge expiration for tri-color cartridges in the sense that they would be rejected by the printer, but old cartridges may have quality issues.  You could reference this page for questions of cartridge expiration, none of the printers that use the cartridges you have enforce cartridge expiration.
I do not know HP's policy for cartridge replacement for retailers.  For consumers I have heard of HP replacing unopened cartridges that were within the warranty period.  You will need to Contact HP for this case.

  • Ink Cartridge expiration

I have several HP 57 cartridges that are sealed in original packaging, but not the box.  How do I find the expiration date with these sets of numbers....SGA2 110200 090817 1912?  and if they are expired, are they still useable?

The "expiration" date on #57 cartridges is the end of warranty date, it does not mean the cartridges will not work or be rejected.  You can check the date as shown in the document here.
Depending on how the cartridges have been stored they may have print quality issues if the cartridges are very old.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus - By passing expired Color Cartridges to print only in Black printing.

    Hi,
    Problem:
fIt seems that this model of printer has a built in protocol which makes the printer inoperable if any of the colour cartridges are past their expiry date. Attempts to print solely in black are also being prevented because of this.
Does anybody know how permit black printing only without the need to replace colour cartridges rarely used.
Apple Mac PCs and laptops are connected to the printer wirelessly.
I look forward to any info which rids me of this frustrating problem.

Hello popkc, and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you are looking into ink options.  Due to the design of the printer, it does require functional ink as to not cause damage to the print system.  There is no way to override this.
