Expired Apple ID and password problems

When I purchased my IPad I created a Apple ID using my email address that I had at the time.  I used my company email address.  I sold my company and now that email has been eliminated.  It no longer exists.  All the Apps that I installed were installed using the old email address that I set up as my apple ID.  Now, when Apps come up to update and I go to update them my old non existent email pops up with a request for my password.  When I enter my password it tells me that the password is incorrect.  I cannot change the password or request a new password because when apple sends a new password it goes to the old email that doesn't exist.  I'm unable to update all apps that come up for updating.  How can I fix this?

I have pretty much the same problem. I updated my iPhone 4s to the new iOS 6.1.1 last night & when I went to update my apps, it is telling me to enter the password for an old Apple ID that no longer exists, as the email address no longer exists, because the email service no longer exists! I know the password, but it will not accept it, and I do not know how to change the Apple ID over to my new one. I can download new apps no problem. I just can't update the ones I already have! It is very frustrating and I do not understand why Apple has to make things so hard!
I already tried going to Settings> iTunes & App Store and logging in and out of my new Apple ID, but it doesn't solve my problem! I am still locked out from updating my apps.
