Make a temporary, backup copy if you don't have a backup copy of the library (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4
Launch iPhoto and try again.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Why is it that when I plug my Macbook Pro to an external monitor, the external monitor turns black and shows the mouse only
Hi, yes preferences sees there is a second display it recognises what make of monitor it is etc but I just get a blank blue screen on the monitor when I change it to the hdmi setting! I have tried with mirroring on and off, rearranging the displays in the preference window and lots of different resolution settings but with no difference.
An old MacBook connects fine so the monitor and hdmi port must be okay. I'm sure we have used the cable before but it could have been with the previous MacBook Air. The current one I'm using is a mid 2011 version running lion and is (according to software update) all up to date.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated! -

why is it when you set a calendar event in outlook 2010 (whilst i am in UK) with a reminder alarm for 30mins prior to the appointment time) and have the iPhone set to keep the appointment time relative to the new country time that i have travelled to (this works OK), the alarm time is still relative to the UK time and not in sync with the local country time like the main appointment is.
Does anyone know the answer please.This has to do with the Time Zone Support selected in your phone. If you check in Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars, there is a setting for Time Zone Support at the bottom of the page under Calendars. If that is turned to off, the calendar should support the local time. Because time is set to Automatic (since you say the time is correct on the iPhone), it is reflecting the local time. That information comes from the carrier, not the iPhone itself. You can check, however the iPhone says that if you turn off the Time Zone support, it should reflect in the local time. Do a test, if possible, and see if that will do what you are asking.

I have the iphone 3gs. I enter a calendar appointment and utilize the alert feature with that appointment. the next day the appointment is still there but the alert is no longer there. is this an issue because I back up to the icloud or is there a switch that I need to turn on or off?
thanks, DavidI have exactly the same concern. It seems it would be a simple fix for Apple to allow users to turn off the camera (and even the mic) while keeping FaceTime open -- especially now that it turns out FaceTime must remain open in order to send and receive iPhone calls on a Mac.
I like to think this new functionality of FaceTime will be baked into a future release of Yosemite, as the current setup has that not-quite-finished feel of a work in progress. In the meantime, there's nothing like a little piece of Post-It stuck over the camera to keep the NSA from watching your face as you type a post to the Apple Support Communities. -
Is there a way to hide and show the whole 3D viewer with javascript?
I'm trying to set up a pdf so that the person who's reading it can use a button to switch between a picture of the product and a 3D model of the same. The idea is that the two ways of illustrating the product can be in the same space, so that there's still room to put enough text on the front page. I have spent about three hours trying to figure this out.
Even if I hide the model withtin the 3D viewer and make the background transparent, the 3D viewer is still there, intercepting mouse clicks and showing the toolbar.
I've tried modfiying the Annot3D, by moving it off the page, because the javascript reference says that the "rect" property of Annot3D can be written, but the viewer just stays in the same location.
Is there any way to get the whole thing to go away with one button click and come back with another?

PS - In the past I've placed product drawings and pictures in the same place by putting them on separate layers, but I can't figure out how to get the 3D display attached to a layer.One way you could get the same effect is to use separate pages. Disable the mouse scroll for switching pages and instead use buttons to go from one page to the other. The user will get the impression that the annotation has appeared and disappeared.
Another hack is to use the product information as the icon on the annotation, so just disable it when you want to show the product information and make sure it lines up with an overlay of surrounding product information. -
Email PDF Form and Sign Entire Submission - Can this lock the form and show the signature?
Thanks to those who explained how to create a button that allows me to email a form as a PDF rather than XML. It helped me a great deal.
Now I want to cause our time sheet adjustment form to be emailed from the employee to their supervisor, and have the form-data be read-only, and the employee signature to be obvious to the recipient.
I've tried checking the Sign Submission check box in the Submit tab of the Button Object window, (where the mailto: tag has been entered.
I clicked the "Settings..." button on the Submit tab and then, under the "Sign Data and Submit Settings" dialog box I selected "Sign Entire Submission". But this does not lock the data and the resulting PDF form once emailed, shows no sign of a signature.
I also tried adding a signature field, and clicked on it to add a signature. But once the signature was added, the Button was disabled and I could not submit the form via the mailto: tag.
Is there a way to signa form with a self-signed signature, and email the entire PDF such that the recipient can see the signature, and that the data are no longer editable?
Wouldn't that just be ducky...?

I want the signature to be apparent so users can see that a submission was signed. These forms that I am considering will replace a paper form used internally within my organization, to request a time card change. They only need to be signed as a pro-forma requirement.
If the electronic forms solution is approved by management, I will make a case that since the network is a closed intranet, there is little consequential likelihood that a fellow employee would forge another's time card change request. And since the new form would be submitted through email, there is a further validation that the email will identify the sender's email address. This proposed electronic submission method is certainly as valid as forms where users cut and paste an image of their signature in a document...
The good news is that since I asked this question, I discovered the samples that came with LCD 8...
An example can be found in the Live Cycle Interactive Purchase Order sample found at [installdir]\EN\Samples\Purchase Order\Interactive.
The interactive Purchase Order sample shows how a collection of fields can be defined and then the signature applied only to the data in the collection. The email button is defined as not included in the collection. This way the signature field can be used, and once the document is signed, the email button remains enabled.
The interactive purchase order sample also demonstrates how a drop down list can be populated by a JavaScript as well as some array handling syntax that I've been looking for.
I recommend the samples to anyone who, like me, may not have been aware of their relevance.

In Detail
I have a table to which is associated with a VO.
The VO contains SQL whose WhereClauseParameters need to be dynamically binded.say headerId and lineId
Select ... from ....where headerId = :1 AND lineId = :2
I have to pass these 4 values and show all the results in a single table
headerId lineid

H2 ............... L1
H2 ............... L2
I understand that i need to bind parameters dynamically and exceute the VO.
As i have 4 different set of parameters, the view object will be executed 4 times.
I want to show all the results together in a single table.
How can I do it.

The icons wiggle and show the x but they will not delete when I press the X. Also the home button will not cancel the action.
Try doing a hard reset: Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After this, try again to delete the app.
If that doesn't solve the issue, you could also try backing up the device and restoring the device as new.
In that case, follow the steps in: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I am opening an vi using "Open VI Reference" and "Invoke Methodpen FP", but I want to open the vi and show the block diagram, but I haven´t found any method (Invoke Method) to do that and any property.

GracindaOK, I can come up with a reason. I have written a program that will search the entire VI Hierarchy of a program and update all of the descriptions for all VIs with the top level program part #, the name of the top level program that the VI is used in, the company copyright info, the ITAR notice, company address, the name of the engineer performing the update, along with the date and time. This will also place as a background image on all the VIs, a watermark of the company name, legality stuff and the copyright. It works very slick in that if there are thousands of sub-vis, such as what I'm working on now, it goes through all of them, makes sure the data is there as per company policy without having to open every one of them look at them and update or not whichever the case may be. The one portion that is tough is that the program will detect if there is a description written about what funtion the VI performs and if there is not a description, then it pops up a dialog requesting the user to write a description. The problem is that without looking at the block diagram for the VI, it can be nearly impossible to write a description for the functionality of the VI. So is there a way to programmatically open a VI, show its block diagram (this would only be in the case of a missing description) and then upon completion of the updates, close the block diagram? (I already open and close the VI programmatically in order to read the VI DESC and update as needed, but that is in the background and of course you can't see the block diagram).

I can see my thumbnails for my events in iphoto, but when I click to open the folder, no photos show up. However, when I hover over the thumbnail, it shows the flicker of images
that should be inside the folder, as well as # of images in each folder. It also occasionally says the following when I try to even open iphoto: "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete." So, I am scared to hit "upgrade" for fear I will never recover any of the images as the wording in this quote seems odd. The photos are not in the trash. Did I lose them all? Do you know if/how I can retrieve them?iPhoto 08?
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

Hi, I can't import some videos in photos. Note, this videos used to work fine in iphoto. The files are not corrupted, they opens with VLC, quicktime 7 but not with quicktime !!!
