Explain AUR Version Number Please

Hello. I want to understand package versions. The one puzzling me is tilde. Why does its version end with hyphen? I can't see why from the PKGBUILD file. The upstream code lives in git, if that helps. Thanks.
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/tilde/

ForumVoice wrote:Hmm, seems unlikely. He packages for other distros, mainly.... I don't think he knows the AUR very well yet.
This does not follow - how does having no experince with packing for archlinux make it less lilkely that he did something wrong?
ForumVoice wrote:The tarballs must work.
What do you mean?  Many aur packages do not 'work'.  This is unfortunate, but we can't pretend that it is not true.  For this one, does the built package end with a hyphen, or is it just on the web interface?  I was going to check this myself, but it has two dependencies from the AUR only, and one of those has several AUR-only dependencies.  I stopped at that point, it's not worth the effort for me just to find out if this builds a package with a odd version number.  It looks to me like it should be a normally numbered package and the error is only on the web interface.
ForumVoice wrote:What about this PKGBUILD line,
install=''
That is unneeded, but perfectly fine.  It is just an empty variable.

  • Bad major version number! Help please ;-)

I have been writing applets using the Forte 3.0 sdk.
I don't as yet use Swing, but rather the standard AWT elements.
These applets work fine in IE 5, but when I try to view them in Netscape Communicator 4.79, the applet fails to appear and I see the following error message "Applet Editor Error:java.lang.ClassFormatError: Bad major version number"
I have searched the net and this is some advice I found: "The javac by default compiles for 1.2 compatible vm's. To compile an application to be compatible for both 1.1 and 1.2 vm's use:
    javac -target 1.1 foo.java"
I'm guessing Netscape isn't 1.2 compatble, despite that the java plugins for 1.4.0 are enabled ( I have checked.).
    So my question is:
How do I force 1.1 compatability in the Forte IDE?
I have looked through all the options and cannot find any switches for compatability.
    I'm not using command-line so I can't directly add -target 1.1
    Thank you in advance.

In Forte go to menu Project->Settings. Open Compiler Types->External Compilation, there you have a property called "External Compiler", click on the value and there you can edit the arguments that are sent to the compiler...

  • "a new version number" for updates

    Hi,
in iba2.0 there for updates there is a new field for: "new version number". default is 1.0.
it the support it said the number must be higher than in the store.
actually I don't see a version number at my book page in the store.
however - since it is published yet the version number probably should be 1.1 or 2.0. I don't see any information how the numers have to be increased.
furthermore I did not see any field to explain about "what's new".
    After uploading I got a waring: "ITMS-4172..."
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5213
    > but you will need to include text in the "What's New"
Any experience with this issue yet?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

New info: Updating to iba 2.0 without updating to producer 2.8 is not to recommend:
Book Versioning is available for books constructed in EPUB 3 or using iBooks Author version 2.0.
If your book is in EPUB 3 format or was created using iBooks Author version 2.0, it is important to note you are required to fill out the "What's New in Version" section in the Info pane in iTunes Producer.  If you update your book and you do not fill out this section, your book will not continue through our review process and thus, will not go live on the iBookstore.
First please ensure you are using the latest version (2.8) of iTunes Producer. You can download this new version in iTunes Connect under the Deliver Your Content module. Once you have launched iTunes Producer version 2.8 and clicked on Look Up Metadata from the “Welcome to iTunes Producer” window,  you will see the "What’s New in Version" section in the Info pane.
If your book is not in EPUB 3 format and was not created using iBooks Author version 2.0, you are not required to fill out the "What's New in Version" section in iTunes Producer.

I am new to Teststand software interface.  While doing my first software release under the guidance of a more experienced colleague, we discovered that Teststand will not run if it detects version number conflicts between custom data types on my machine vs. the production test machine.  I verified differences between all .seq files in my test program directory, but I did not realize that the version number difference exists in the StationGlobals.ini file, which is stored in a different location.  After discovering this, I modified the version number in one of the files.  However, two releases later, I discovered that the version number mismatches in another two files.  This raises several questions for me :
    1.  Is there a way in Teststand to view all the .seq files where a custom data type is used and then change its version number in one attempt?
    2.  Under what instances does Teststand upgrade the version number of a custom data type?
    3.  Are there any tools or scripts within Teststand that can allow the version number of custom data types to be changed in all .ini files when a difference is discovered between the current production test station settings and a new release?
    Please help.

    Have you read this?  http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7060
I can tell you that your situation is not uncommon with TestStand.  The key is just doing it right the first time.  haha
#1- I doubt that this is possible because then TestStand would have to know every location of every .seq on the machine.  You will only see it when you open the sequence file.
#2- TestStand updates the version every time you change it.  You should get a message popup when you try to save that asks if you want to increment the version or not.  There's also a check box that says Remove Modified Mark From Types.  Look under Station Options in the File tab.  There are some settings there about Type conflicts.

  • The same Object Version Number for the same person id multiple times

    Hello all,
I am currently facing an issue with HRMS tables and the object version number for employees. I am trying to write a report but due to the same object version number for the same person appearing in several row i am getting duplicate information. For example,
person id 91 object version number 32 is on 4 rows and i have no idea why...help please guys, I'm at a lost so far 50 people are facing the same issue.

    Hi Baal666bobo,
The person table is date-tracked, so the PK has effective start and end dates as well.
Get the correct record with sysdate(or any particular date) and then check the OVN.
    Cheers,

You cannot. From a legal standpoint, the license agreement for OS X mandates that you run OS X only on Apple hardware. HP is not (yet) owned by Apple.
From a technical standpoint, your HP laptop doesn't use EFI, but rather an early predecessor called a BIOS. Apple is the only vendor of consumer computer hardware that uses EFI; other vendors reserve EFI for use in servers.
Secondly, Apple's operating systems support a rather limited number of configurations of video hardware and mainboard chipsets directly since they need only support those systems that they manufacture. You cannot use Windows software or drivers on OS X, so prior to installation, you would need to write your own hardware drivers for your laptop, create an OS X drive image on a Mac, and then modify that image with your drivers before putting it in the HP.
It will be simpler (and legal), to simply purchase a used Mac. Apple's online store has refurbished MacBook Airs starting at $850 and Mac Minis for $700. If you go to e-bay or craigslist, you'll find used Macs for considerably less.

  • How do I determine the executable version number?

    Hi.
I have a VI and a build specification for it.  In the Version Information section of the build specification, I set the version number to auto-increment.  I would like to display this version number on an indicator on the front panel of the executable, but I have not found a property that provides this information. Does anybody know how to get the executable version number? I am aware that it is possible to right-click on the .exe file in windows explorer, go to properties and get it that way, but I would like to display it on the VI itself.
On a related topic, I have noticed that only the 'build' field of the version gets auto-incremented. How does the application builder decide when it is time to increment the major, minor and fix fields?  Or will it only ever auto-increment the build field and I am supposed to update the other fields manually? (That would actually make sense, but I would like confirmation.)
    Thanks in advance,
    Alejandro

  • Manually changing a document version number when importing an existing document

    Hello.
Like a lot of people, we are starting to make use of Sharepoint Online as part of an Office 365 subscription.
One of the things we want to do is move a bunch of version controlled documents from their current location on a traditional network file share into a Sharepoint Document library, and then use approval and version history to control and track changes.
At the moment these are stored with the version number as part of the file name, so we have something like "Company car policy - version 6.docx". When there's a new version, the old one is moved to an archive folder and a new copy is saved as "Version
7.docx" which is outdated and far from ideal.
I've created my library, tested that approvals work, and have found instructions on how to use a workflow to notify people that changes have been made. That's all fine, but if I upload an existing document into the library it will start the version number
at 0.1 or 1.0 depending on whether I add it as a draft or final.
What I need to be able to do is to manually change the version number to match our existing system without having someone sit there checking a document in and out. Some of them have version numbers in the 20s so this would be a huge waste of time.
I can't believe I'm the first person to have this problem - can anyone help me please?

You are not the only one, that is for sure!
The only way (that I'm aware of and is easy to accomplish) to achieve this is the following:
    * Upload your history v1, v2, v3, v4, v5, v6. And then it is really in sync with your current / old version numbers.
    * just upload the new / latest file and check out/check in the file x times so the version number will increase every check in.
I know that this sounds weird/funny time consuming. Without 3th party tooling I don't see any other solution.
With 3th party tooling then you can perform those actions (basicaly the same actions) more quick and easy, however you need to get yourself comfortable which such tooling. One of the tools (no I'm not a sales agent or whatsover) that I know can perform metadata
changes is ShareGate. However in PowerShell you can perform also a lot of magic and without ad doubt there are a lot of migrating tools (AvePoint, Tzunami, etc) that can also "mimick" those manual steps.
    My best suggestion is:
    * If you need to keep the old versions upload them all one by one (if it is not too time consuming)
    Otherwise
    * create a archive for old versions and start in SharePoint with version 1 which is exactly the same as the latest non-SharePoint version and store that archive in a separate document library/folder/site. (only keep old versions if there is a reall need
/business case or legal case to do that.)
    Kind regards,

  • Time_building_block_id and object version number

    Hello,
could someone help me out with an explanation how the time_building_block_id and object version number to be interpreted?
Are these independent? What actions create new ID and new ovn?
My first idea was that one ID can have different instances in the table with different object version numbers. However I found cases belonging to the same parent buildingblock where both the id and ovn are different.
So based on this only one of the columns could be primary.
However for the joins both are used typically at the same time, suggesting that the two together constitutes a primary key.
Are the DETAIL level records belonding to the same DAY level record to be treated as co-existing entries and their measure to be summarized? Or only the latest (bigger ovn?) to be considered, so it is an updated version of the record with the previous ovn?
    thanks!

The version number in the TC Building blocks is used to identify changes to timecard building blocks. It is not the same as an object version number on a record in a table.
OTL keeps an audit history of all changes to the timecard, at whatever level they occur. It uses this in retropay processes to identify the 'true' hours to use.
TC Building blocks have a 'scope', for example there are building blocks at these levels:
    Timecard
    Period / Application
    Day
    Detail
If you entered 8 hours on a new timecard for Monday 07/09/09 it would create a building block record for that date and call it version 1.
If you later make a change to that DAY, OTL will create a new record with version 2. Say this one shows 7 hours.
OTL can then interpret this as -8 + 7 = -1 and make the appropriate adjustment.
    Hope that helps explain it!
    Regards
    Tim

  • Powershell update Field Value without changing version number

I want to update a value in a field in a list for a lot of list items.
However, this list has major and minor versioning turned on, and an approval process.
When I update the field's value for all the required list items, I don't want the approval process to start and I don't want the version number to change.
    How can I do this?
This is my code so far:
    $siteUrl = "http://portal"
    $listName = "list name"
    $field1_Name = "category"
    $web = Get-SPWeb -Identity $siteUrl
    $list = $web.Lists[$listName]
    $items = $list.Items
    ForEach ($item in $items)
        if ($item[$field1_Name].ToString() -eq "testing")
     $url = [String]::Format("{0}/{1}",$web.Url, $item.File.URl)
         $file = $web.GetFile($url)
     $file.CheckOut()
     write-host $item.name
           $item[$field1_Name] = "testing again"
           $item.Update()
     $file.CheckIn("updated category name", [Microsoft.Sharepoint.SPCheckinType]::MajorCheckIn))
    $web.Dispose()

Instead of calling $item.Update() call $item.SystemUpdate($false);  That will update the fields without incrementing he version number of the listitem.  Read about it here:

  • What is the 2.0 version number if downloaded directly from iTunes?

If you are one of the lucky ones to get the download from iTunes, can you please tell me what the version number is? Just fire up your phone and go to settings/about. Scroll down and you will see Version 2.0 (xxxxx).
I am one of those that probably voided its warranty by downloading manually. Mine says 2.0 (54347). Just wondering if we are getting the same. I was lucky and it all went well but I started to notice a few things. Like after using 3-4 apps, I have to reboot the entire phone since I can't start new ones. Also, the keyboard typing gets a bit slow after a while.

Thanks for the reply... Besides the slight difference in file name, yesterday manual download version was 230,427KB. I saw someone say iTunes version was 215 and on another board, I saw 218. Do you know the size of the one you got through iTunes?
I am sure there is a difference somewhere. There is always a price to pay for being inpatient.
