Explorer crashes due VC++ 2010/12 in Windows 7 Ultimate
Nearly 4 weeks before I installed windows 7 Ultimate in my laptop. After a week explorer crashing event occurs when I want to open several applications including event viewer.
It seems as following:
Faulting application name: explorer.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17567, time stamp: 0x4d672ee4
Faulting module name: MSVCR100.dll, version: 10.0.40219.325, time stamp: 0x4df2bcac
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000003c145
Faulting process id: 0x1be8
Faulting application start time: 0x01cf723c3fbeee54
Faulting application path: C:\Windows\explorer.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\MSVCR100.dll
Report Id: 825626cb-de2f-11e3-ab39-0026b904b93e
Also, few events log of my system are here at :
Event Log and Installed VC++.
I also tried to reinstall VC++ 2010/12 several times. One or twice the problem disappears. But after few days/restarts same error happens again.
As a developer I was previously using Visual Studio 2008,2010,2013 in my system since long and it works fine for others also. All VC++ installed by these Visual Studio versions are in image.
Thanks for your help.
The module that is causing the crash may be different than the MSVCR100.dll.
What I might suggest, to try to find the root cause of the crash, is to obtain a user mode dump of the crash to get more information on the crash.
You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first.
If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file (save with the .reg extension and give it any name such as explorerdump.reg) then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file at the
time explorer.exe crashes should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe]
"DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\
00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
After Explorer (explorer.exe) crashes, can you then make the .dmp file available (provide link) via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site?
Here's a couple of links on using OneDrive (SkyDrive):

This fix was posted on Live Q&A by an MS person:
I am part of the CEIP team at Microsoft and wanted to share how to fix the issue and share more information.
Description:
New machines installing Windows 7 Beta will not experience this problem. An issue related to the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP also known as SQM) client in the Windows 7 Beta is causing crashes of Explorer, MSI-based installers and other applications. In order to resolve the issue, impacted customers need to run the following script from an elevated command prompt. This script will stop crashes related to CEIP.
Background:
Microsoft deployed a configuration change which exposed this problem. The script provided below removes those changes (registry keys) to prevent further CEIP related crashes.
Detailed instructions:
1. Select and copy the following to your clipboard:
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /va /f
2. Click on "Start", then "All Programs", then "Accessories"
Right click on "Command Prompt", then click on "Run as administrator"
In the UAC prompt, verify that the program’s name is "Windows Command Processor" and then click "Yes"
Right click on the "Administrator: Command Prompt" window’s black area, then select "Paste"
Press "Enter", you should see “The operation completed successfully”.
If you see “ERROR: Access is denied”, please make sure you followed Step 3.
Close the "Administrator: Command Prompt window"
Hope this helps!
[email protected]the fix worked initially but after a few mins the same thing happens again. tried doing it again n it says the registry valued does not exist.
Plz help
I know it's been a month but were you using the release version or have you found a fix? The OP was talking about the Beta. I found this thread while searching for an answer to the Explorer crashing problem. I'm using Windows 7 version 6.1.7600 build 7600.
Explorer crashes when I'm copying/moving files, most frequently with the DVD drive. I turned off all non-microsoft shell extensions with Shexview, including some Symantecs that were highlighted as suspect. No change.
I checked for a registry value that had something to do with throttling, which some people said was the problem, but that didn't exist in my registry.
I uninstalled Mozilla, which others blamed it on. No change.
I really need to fix this, but every thread I have read so far has been useless. Does anyone here know what to do about it? -
Vista system crashed due to a corrupted system file. The C drive was reformatted, and windows reloaded, along with the rest of my programs.
Before the drive was reformatted, an image was made of it on a USB drive to save all the data. Now I need to know how to get the Bookmarks back for Firefox, and the Address Book back for Thunderbird.
ThanksThanks for the quick response. It worked very well, for both Firefox and Tbird.
One hitch, until I remembered: those are all hidden files, in hidden folders. I had a devil of a time finding the "roaming" folder, until I found out how to unhide everything. In years past, I used DOS for that kind of thing. Explorer is much less user-friendly. Now that I know how to do it, it's simple.
Thanks again for the guidance -
Explorer Crashing in Windows 7
On a fresh install of Windows 7 and then shorty after installing Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows 7 explorer crashes. Doesn't matter what application I'm using it just crashes. I could be trying to save a file in paint or opening a email to save a attached or just wanting to save a page on the web by going to File-> Save as.
I had the same problem when I tried using the Novell "vista client" on Windows 7. But I intiially thought that was isolated to it being the "vista client". Although the affects were not immediate as they were today when I installed Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows 7.
Does anyone have any ideas?

After updating to Windows 8.1, Windows Explorer crashes.
Hello, I have recently updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. When it finished the install and reboot, it went to my desktop where my background image was gone, Kaspersky Pure 3.0 was gone, and Windows Explorer crashes every time it is opened. The other
two problems are not as big of a problem right now so I searched around for a fix on this issue. I found that some applications, specifically Autodesk, were causing conflicts. I don't have Autodesk but I decided to update everything anyways. I reinstalled
Kaspersky, fully updated it and ran a scan to see if it was a virus, which it is not. I updated AVG 2014 free, Malwarebytes free, and many others. I also ran Windows Update. I ran CCleaner to see if it would fix the problem and it didn't either. I looked at
the error report and saw that it was caused by StackHash_35ff, which through further investigation turned out to be a fancy term for nothing. What is my problem? I really don't want to restore to an older version because I've spent the better part of the day
allowing Windows 8.1 to bother me. Please help because I'm out of ideas and nothing from other responses seemed to be the solution.Okay, so the above worked. I ended the Com Surrogate task, the went into cmd and typed in these two commands;
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
Everything seems to be back in order. I hope this helps anyone who has the same problem, seeing as no one else came up with this solution. -
We are using SharePoint 2013 and I want to sync document libraries with
OneDrive for Business with my PC running Windows 7.
In general, it works, but my Windows Explorer crashes very often (after a few minutes) when I navigate in the synced directories and open files there (or copy files into them in Windows Explorer).
How can I find out what happens and how to avoid it?
remark:
We are still using Office 2007, so I installed only OneDrive for Business from the Office 2013 DVD and
deactivated all other components like Office 2013 by hand:
(so for example, the shared office feature or MS Info Path etc. were not installed)
Is there a crash log, where I can find more information about the crash?
Does OneDrive maybe need other components to be installed and can I install them without damaging my existing Office 2007 setup?Did you check your Event Viewer for any errors during the time when Windows Explorer crashed?
Thanks for this hint!
The Log file says the following, so it seems to be WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\btncopy.dll
to be responsible for the crashing Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer crashes when plugging or unplugging ipod touch
Seems something is buggy with Itunes 7 or the Ipod Touch itself. This happens to me on 2 different computers, one Dell and one HP so I doubt seriously if it is the computers themselves. All of my drivers on both systems are up to date.
When I plug in the IPOD it will work and sync, however when I unplug it I get a windows explorer crash each time. Needless to say this is irritating as heck.
Anyone else having this problem?
thanks
Redy4itI have the same problem, even when i use the eject button. I hate vista but on my pc i have no choice but to run it. Never had any problems on my Macs. i also get a strange error on work pc running XP. It says at first that it doesn't recognize the device running in compatibility mode but then it switches over and works fine. I tend to blame it on Microsoft crap, maybe they are updating their OSes to mess with Apple products.

I installed iTunes on my Windows 7 PC and now Internet Explorer crashes and won't run.
I installed iTunes on my Dell PC running Windows 7 and now Internet Explorer crashes and won't run. Are there any known conflicts, or likely issues that may be causing this?
I've rebooted, and the iTunes program seems to operate fine. I used it to upgrade my iPad's OS to 8.1.3.They aren't related and shouldn't affect each other.

Windows 8.1 explorer.exe crashes EVERY time I open a window
I upgraded from win8 home yesterday and notices I was getting errors when using windows to copy files from my laptop to computer over my wifi.
Today, I was working fine and started gettingMicrosoft Visual C++ Runtime Library "Runtime Error" and explorer restarted, I rebooted and then on all accounts I logged into, I got no error messages - just explorer restarting. I was unable
to open any folders.

Please helpHello,
Please download this
ZIP file and extract it. Once extracted, double-click the REG file to import it into the registry. Once done, this will enable creation of crash dumps when Explorer crashes. So, the next time this happens. you should fine a DMP file on your desktop. Compress
and attach the file here. Having the file will help us identifying the cause of the issue. -
Systemtray gone on Windows when Explorer crashes
HI,
I have an app that uses java.awt.SystemTray. I´m having problems in my Windows machine and noticed that whenever Explorer.exe crashes the icon from my application does not appear anymore, althought it recovers some other icons.
Is this a bug in Java, or I´m I doing something wrong ?
I´ve found this post http://syedgakbar.wordpress.com/2008/07/14/restore-notification-area-icon-after-explorer-crash/ but it relates to Win32 API.
ThanksI've been known to extend a class or two to give functionality like "isAlive" or "isVisible" or "isResponsive" for cases like this. You may consider doing that. One things I have also found is that almost every problem I have with Windows is different than any problem that I've had before--which makes sense because I usually incorporate ways to avoid the same problems in the future, but MS seems to be determined to find ways of getting me to be more creative.

Internet Explorer has constantly crashes with my Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium system. I have tried every troubleshooting method there is and it still crashes. I tried uninstalling the Windows update and it was wiped out so I did a system restore.
I still don't feel safe. Any more solution I could try?Hi,
You can try the following suggestions to check if the problem be solved:
Try to run IE in
No Add-ons.
Try to restore IE setting.
Try to use

Internet Explorer Crashing over Windows XP SP2
Hi all,
I have a problem with Internet Explorer 6.0. I've developed a web page that has an applet (without user interface) and an ActiveX developed with C++. My problem is that sometimes when I push a button that invokes an applet method, Internet Explorer crash and a window shows that Internet Explorer has caused a serious error.
I am using JRE 1.5.0_03, Internet Explorer SP2 and Windows Xp Professional SP2.
Can anybody tell me what could be the problem?.
Best Regards.

Windows explorer crashes whenever I right-click mouse on any file.
I have installed iTunes 8.02 with QuickTime 7.5.5 in Windows Vista for my iPhone 3G. However, windows explorer crashes and restarts automatically whenever I try to bring up the context menu by right-clicking my mouse on any file, or I press the button "DEL" on my keyboard.
This problem is gone if I un-install QuickTime 7.5.5. However, iTunes 8.0.2 cannot run without QuickTime.
Any solution for this ridiculous issue? Please help!Hello,
You are correct. It was right where you said it should be. For some reason doing a search does not find it. Anyway, here it is. Thanks.
