Explorer.exe Keeps fatally shut down PC
Right, here's the deal, running a Medion w/ p3 2.66ghz Pentium for 6 yrs. no prob. Comcast upgrades its service now IE6 wont work right. I update to IE8 (cause 7 sucks) got all issues there corrected, only now I can't access my 2nd. Hard drive (mp3 library) without it locking up windows explorer and crashing the system. When I restart the 2nd. HD does not get recognized in the bios & the system will not boot. I've got the original 120gb hard drive (C) & The 7 Mo. old 300gb secondary drive w/ a 250w power supply. So what is the problem, IE8, Windows XP service pack3, power supply or 2nd. HD (Western Digital, & this has only occured since software OS upgrades) Thank to anyone that can HELP!
Im not sure if they ceased updates for IE6 but you might have a security vunlerability that could of compromised your machine and did something to it. Nonetheless, the Malicious Software Removal Tool from Microsoft ran from Windows Update should have caught this at the time.

Hi,
I have a problem with the wireless bridge connection using aironet 1300. It work fine before.no changes were done. Problem is random and this is happening on both aironet. Below is the log.
on the first aironet:

5 Mar 31 01:24:51.062 Error Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to up
6 Mar 31 01:24:51.061 Warning Interface Dot11Radio0, Associated To AP UPAdminBridge 001e.4a05.b820 [None]
on the second aironet:

regards,
ChristianVerify that when the radio interface is shutdown, the workstations can connect to the server immediately. Also ping from the AP to server and workstations to verify if there is any difference seen to the results seen prior to the radio interface being shut down.

Explorer.exe keeps crashing
Firstly, apologies if I am posting at a wrong thread or if a thread is already existing with this issue.
Issues:
Explorer.exe keeps crashing after I installed an addin on my outlook 2007. The same Outlook addin on another computer with same Windows 7 does not cause the explorer.exe to crash. I have captured crash dumps and I see the following:

ThanksHi,
Firstly, using !analyze -v command to generate a results of this crash events. We can see
Attempt to read from address 00000177e1f4dbf8, then using !address command to check this address information:

really helpful. Cannot understand why Microsoft were pushing me to update from poorly performing windows 8 to complete nuisance windows 8.1. My hardly earned money were spent on a product that causes me massive headache.
Unfortunately Microsoft does not allow me to post the link to skydrive where I keep the dmp fo review. Another great gift from them.0:050> lmvm rse

jterng,

hi, i hv macbook mid 2010 ..it was working fine till few days back but after updating it to mavericks, it keeps on shutting down itself...what to do ? could sm1 help me out ?
The startup disk may need repairing...
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery -

My computer keeps on shutting down randomly. What can I do?
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Help us help you. The more complete the description of your problem is (what OS you're using, what Application you're using, recent software installs or updates, a full or screen shot or the text of any error messages) the more assistance we can provide, and, the sooner we can provide it.
Under your profile there's no data about the age of your MBA, the OS it's using. This is helpful for us to know because there's a phenomena with machines recently updated to Mavericks that have unusual sleep/wake behavior. There are other issues particular to certain combinations of machines and software.
Is this happening when the computer is on battery or plugged into the mains (wall outlet)?
How long has it been happening? -

HT1688 My iPhone 5 keeps on shutting down
My iPhone 5 keeps on shutting down on me. Do I need to take it in for repair or exchange?
Basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Ipod Touch keeps crashing/shutting down
Hello, My Ipod touch keeps crashing/shutting down/freezing. Any tips/hints ideas what is causing this?
Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothng is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -
Windows 8 explorer.exe keeps crashing and I can't use Windows update as a result!
I've got Windows 8 64-bit, and it's been running fine for about 2 months now. Just today, it's started to crash the desktop every 6 seconds. The screen goes purple (which I'm pretty sure is just my chosen background colour), the outline of the taskbar remains,
but all the icons disappear, and then everything returns, only to crash again in another 6 seconds. I've watched the task manager, and under "background processes", an icon called "Windows Problem Reporting" appears for about a second,
and then goes away.
I've looked up some other people's questions about this, and most people seem to recommend checking for updates, or installing new graphics drivers, but this is not an option for me. Whenever the desktop crashes, it shuts down control panel as well. This
means I can't start my computer in safe mode, I can't check for updates, I can't uninstall/update drivers, I basically can't make any changes to my computer! Even as I'm writing this message, the cursor keeps disappearing from the test box whenever the desktop
crashes, and I have to click on the screen every 6 seconds. ARGH!I crash is caused by the Intel driver:

So update the driver or use ShellExView to disable the Intel shell extension.

AcroRd32.exe will not shut down when shutting down computer.
Windows 7. Adobe Reader XI Ver. 11.0.06
Get message that AcroRd32.exe is preventing computer from shutting down.
I think this started when the .06 upgrade was installed, but not sure. Thanks for the reply Pat,
Looking at the processes, when I open Acrobat reader it opens 2 ArcoRd32.exe *32. I use Opera Browser and I noticed that it opens 2 ArcoRd32.exe *32 also. If I close the Acrobat Reader, 2 of the ArcoRd32's drop but 2 stay open, the ones opened with the Opera Browser continue to run.
I did a search on the web and found out that this is an add-on to the browser (Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox and Safari) and it allows you to open PDF files directly in the browser. It also stated that there can be a problem of ArcoRd32 not closing and it instructs you to go to the Task Manager and end the process, just as you had stated.
At least I know what the problem is now and I can deal with it.
Thanks again for you assistance with this situation. I have been VERY SATISFIED with your assistance. You have been very professional and I really appreciate it.

Taskeng.exe and computer shutting down
Over the past few weeks, when i unplug my laptop, after a few minutes it will turn off. But if when i turn it on and it was not plugged in, it does not turn ff so it not a battery problem. However, after i turn it back on, the black box and taskeng.exe appears.
After following other threads on what to do, i cannot seem to find anything which works and with exams approaching, i really need this to be fixed. Any suggestions and are these related as this never used to occur?
Another box comes up stating thatwindows cannot find 'c:\programm files (x86)\search extensions\client.exe
please help!!Hi Emily,
1.For the unexpected shut down event ,please check the Event Viewer to collect the related error information.
To check the Event Viewer
Event Viewer \Windows Logs \System
2.” taskeng.exe” please open your task manager and right click to open the properties of this process and verify its location. Meanwhile check the startup options in the task manager.
I agree with
S.Sengupta, you may need to get into the safe mode and run the antivirus software to have a full scan your machine .
To get into safe mode :
Restart the machine and press F8 before the Windows logo appears and then choose Safe mode from the
Advanced Boot Options screen
3.As for “ cannot find 'c:\programm files (x86)\search extensions\client.exe”.
Here is a similar symptom, please follow the solutions Lemp offered to solve this problem:

Applications keep stopping shut down or re-start
When I try to re-start or shut down my imac, I keep getting messages saying certain applications are cancelling shut down, (one by one) and as these don't have right click options to quit them on the dock icon, I have to open the ap and then quit it, and then try again. As it's at least 4 items doing this, (usually pages, numbers, sketchup and layout,) it takes ages to shut it down. Any ideas how to solve this gratefully received. Thanks, Sally
Hi Kappy,
sorry not to get back to you sooner, I've been away from home, but thanks for your reply. I've just re-started my Imac and this time just 'Pages' cancelled the re-start. I've had a look at Activity monitor and Console, but even after looking at their help pages, it meant nothing to me!!!
I don't see that it's because the programmes are busy, as it happens even when I haven't used them for a long time. But I often just close them without quitting the application, however, I've always done that and this does seem to be a recent phenomenen.
However, since writing that, I thought I should test it before sending my reply. I opened up all the programmes that had been cancelling re-start, and checked that they were not showing as 'not responding' on the force quit menu, which they weren't, then tried to re-start. Everything shut down and re-started normally. I tried it again, and all went normally.
The initial re-start was following an update, could this have solved the problem??
Thanks again for trying to help me. I appreciate it. -
Mac mini keeps displaying shut down message every 10 minutes help?
My mac mini 320 gb machine with the cd drive in it from the 2010 model keeps displaying the shut down message every time minutes and I don't have enough time to check everything and i need some help. Thanks
Here is a link to a system preference you can check.http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4014?viewlocale=en_US
It is a security feature.
You did not mention it but are you using a movie player other than the provide DVD player or iTunes. For example VLC. If you are, for some reason OS X does not know what is going on, i.e. watching a movie, so it thinks you left. So, after 10mins it trys to log off. The annoying part is that it will not do a force log off if there are programs running. Well atleast it is annoying to me.
Good Luck,
C.
