Explorer keeps crashing

I recently wiped my old ASUS back to factory settings as  the kids played havoc with it.   I have loaded everything back and the old girl is running sweet.   My only issue is with explorer.   It keeps crashing and then telling me I
need to load Win Serv Pk 1, which I have done multiple times and it tells me it has been loaded successfully.   It even shows in my update history but under computer properties (which trouble shooting told me it should be listed there) has nothing.
Then it says I need to load Service Pack 2. The problem is that I cant load SP2 without updating to to explorer 9 but I can't update to explorer 9 without SP2???   It even tells me that I cant even visit the M.S sites for the updates because I need to
have explorer 9 or higher.   I am going around  in circles here.   I am just wanting to get a bit more life out of my old girl, especially at Xmas time. Can someone please help me ??

I would suggest one solution, Install Google Chrome, download service pack 2, install it, un-install chrome, update I.E.

  • Explorer keeps crashing with ntdll.dll, verifier.dll, msvcrt.dll and combase.dll errors

    Hi all,
I just bought my laptop a few weeks ago. Initially explorer only crashed (with the ntdll.dll error) when I had a lot of folders open, or when I was transferring stuff. But now I cannot open any folders at all without it crashing with the verifier.dll error.
This doesn't happen in safe mode.

    Hi again,
Sigh. Explorer crashed on me again. I was using iTunes when this happened (not sure if relevant), I wasn't transferring files, and had 4 explorer folders open.
Would you please download explorer.exe.3432 from my skydrive and analyse it for me? Thank you so much for your help.

  • Windows Explorer keeps crashing under Win 7 with RH7 and Source Control installed

This is an "informational" thread in case someone experiences the same problems. We installed RH7 on Windows 7 32-bit and accidentally, Robo Source Control was installed, too, although we do not use it. The latter loads three extensions into the shell that caused the Windows Explorer to crash on a regular basis ("Windows Explorer has stopped working"). After deinstallation of Robo Source, the problem seems to be resolved.

I would like to tell you that this problem is an issue with RH8, as well.

Unfortunately your post is off topic here, in the TechNet Site Feedback forum, because it is not Feedback about the TechNet Website or Subscription.  This is only one forum among the many that are on the TechNet Discussion Forums, and given
your post, you likely chose the wrong forum.  This is a standard response I’ve written up in advance to help many people (thousands, really.) who post their question in this forum in error, but please don’t ignore it.  The links I share below I’ve
collected to help you get right where you need to go with your issue.
For technical issues with Microsoft products that you would run into as an
end user of those products, one great source of info and help is
http://answers.microsoft.com, which has sections for Windows, Hotmail, Office, IE, and other products. Office related forums are also here:

For Technical issues with Microsoft products that you might have as an
IT professional (like technical installation issues, or other IT issues), you should head to the TechNet Discussion forums at
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us, and search for your product name.
For issues with products you might have as a Developer (like how to talk to APIs, what version of software do what, or other developer issues), you should head to the MSDN discussion forums at
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us, and search for your product or issue.
If you’re asking a question particularly about one of the Microsoft Dynamics products, a great place to start is here:
    http://community.dynamics.com/
If you really think your issue is related to the subscription or the TechNet Website, and I screwed up, I apologize!  Please repost your question to the discussion forum and include much more detail about your problem, that could include screenshots
of the issue (do not include subscription information or product keys in your screenshots!), and/or links to the problem you’re seeing.
If you really had no idea where to post this question but you still posted it here, you still shouldn’t have because we have a forum just for you!  It’s called the Where is the forum for…? forum and it’s here:

  • Internet explorer 11 cause explorer.exe crashes

    Hi There,
Just to let you know a little tips that can help for other about IE11 and explorer crashes fix
I don't know where posting that, so it will be here ! :)
Yesterday i decided to install Internet explorer 11 on my freshly installed Windows 7 Pro ed.
No problems during install, but after the reboot, my computer went on a strange state:
    - Explorer keeps crashes itself everytime i launched a tool from the run command, or simply when i wanted to launch an explorer or other.
    - Some services couldn't start (svchost, dhcp client, search, wmi etc ...)
    - No launched programs in the taskbar.
    - Security essentials failed to launch
    - Funny thing : i could type only 4 letters into the run command, impossible to launch anythink except (hopefully) a CMD prompt :D
so after breaking my head on my desk, i decided to try something :
on a CMD i ran a SFC /scannow and it repaired some errors, not all.
I parsed the CBS.LOG file, and realized that one DLL failed to repair on the generated txt (see details below) :
this dll was : IEPROXY.DLL and i made the link between my IE11 installation and this dll.
==> method to parse the CBS.LOG file : launch CMD as admin and type the following:
findstr /C:"[SR] Cannot repair member file" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >sfcdetails.txt
so here is the fix/workaround : simply uninstall IE11!
But ... wait, you cannot access to APPWIZ.CPL (remember: impossible to laucn the control panel without crashing explorer) so we will uninstall IE11 with a command line:
on the CMD type this :
    FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /quiet /norestart"
when it's ok, simply restart the computer, IE10 will be available automatically and the issue disapeared.
    Hope it helps someone.
    David

Is dual core machine incompatible with the JRE I am using? This never happen when using a single core machine. Appreciate your assistance.

Previously, I also had the same problem. it can happen due to the following issues.
1 . If you compile the java code using older version and tried to run it through newer version of java (This may be happened in your case)
    2. If u just copy the java folders (YOU ARE NOT RUNNING THE JAVA SET UP) and tried to run java applications .This crash will happen mainly in the stand alone applications

  • Programs keep crashing

    Good day.
I just wanna know why is my File Explorer keeps crashing?
VLC and Chrome too. It ends up not responding so i have to use Task Manager to end those.
    I'm using Windows 8 BTW.
Please help me. Thanks in advance.

I found the missing files on my brother's Mac and copied them over to my computer to the locations specified in the crash logs and now it works.

  • Explorer.exe keeps crashing

Firstly, apologies if I am posting at a wrong thread or if a thread is already existing with this issue.
    Issues:
Explorer.exe keeps crashing after I installed an addin on my outlook 2007. The same Outlook addin on another computer with same Windows 7 does not cause the explorer.exe to crash. I have captured crash dumps and I see the following:

    Hi,
Firstly, using !analyze -v command to generate a results of this crash events. We can see
Attempt to read from address 00000177e1f4dbf8, then using !address command to check this address information:

Type:                   <info not present at the target>
Here we should remember the end address and region address. Then using !address command to displays information about the whole address space. After that, check above address around process if there is any program that may caused the crash.

really helpful. Cannot understand why Microsoft were pushing me to update from poorly performing windows 8 to complete nuisance windows 8.1. My hardly earned money were spent on a product that causes me massive headache.
Unfortunately Microsoft does not allow me to post the link to skydrive where I keep the dmp fo review. Another great gift from them.

  • I have a problem with my mozilla. It keeps crashing when i start it.

Now my mozilla is totally updated to V. 6.0, though it refuses to open except on the WINDOWS safe mode, not MOZILLA safemode, mozilla "-safe-mode" didnt work for me, i checked for the Ulr.bot.c but i wasn't that either, the only .dll without V. info was the mozjs.dll and as i checked it is nessecery for mozilla to run.
I have windows Xp on my pc, a 1GB procecor and i dont understand why it keeps crashing. It doesnt open at all, it just prompt the chrash report to me. The fact that it works at "Windows-safe mode" i got it right now that i trid it just to make sure..... Any ideas?
P.S. Google desktop didnt even work for me, i tried to instal the latest Vers. just to make sure the problem wasn't this, but it sayed that the .exe was corrupt, and i dont remember having it installed before, also i dont use the Spector Pro, i heared it for the first time at mozilla "crash-site".
Please contact me at: [email protected] as soon as possible, a life with Internet Explorer sucks!! :S

  • My 17" Powerbook keeps crashing on me!

    Hi there,
I just bought an Aluminium 17" Powerbook from eBay and it keeps crashing on me. It arrived running Panther and seemed to work fine. However as soon as I installed Tiger it began crashing regularly.
I took it into the Apple store and they said that it could mean a faulty hard drive, but they ran a hardware test using the original Powerbook discs and it didn't turn up anything.
I've recorded as much as I can of the reports that the machine generates when it crashes (see below this email) - can anyone decipher the code and what it might mean?
The previous owner said that he had used it for editing video on the hard drive, which I gather is a no-no if you want to keep a healthy hard drive...
Any help or advice gratefully received - thanks!
    Patrick

Wednesday 30 November, 14.15. Came back from lunch and screen was dark, could not “re-awaken” Powerbook by any means (waggling finger on trackpad, clicking mouse, clicking space bar), even though power was switched on (Caps Lock light would switch on and off). Had to restart machine.
    No report generated on restart.
Friday, 2 December. Powerpoint open, Acrobat, Mail. Had left machine for a while (20 minutes). Someone had disconnected my external USB mouse – I then reconnected it, and dragged cursor over the Dock to access my Inbox. Cursor/screen froze and had to restart.
    No report generated on restart.
Saturday 3 December. Was accessing a widget in the Dashboard and screen froze.

    Hi Pat,
I have the same problem, sometimes with the restart-warning, other times just a good old os9-style FREEZE!

I am convinced that this is a ram-related issue. Have you tried removing the second ram block from your PB? I have 512Mb and an extra 1Gb in the second sloth. Removing this makes the problem disapper...
In this situation I would recommend a slow PB to an unfunctional one...
I have read about this issue severel at different places the internet - by now Apple MUST be aware of this issue. What I don't understand is that if a certain kind of ram is recommended and other kinds are not - why isn't it written anywhere? No info what so ever on apple.com as far as I can tell...

I assume you know where your catalogue file (the lrcat file) is located. In the same folder is a previews lrdata folder which you should delete or rename in Explorer, then start LR again.

  • Adobe Muse CC 2014 keeps crashing on launch

My version of Adobe Muse CC 2014 keeps crashing on launch. I have tried to reinstall it a few times but this keeps happening.
When I open a project, it works untill I close down the project, I get the following message:
Can someone please help me with this issue? I've searched for a solution on the forums and on the internet, but I didn't find a useful solution.

Very strange. Let's rename the Recovery folder and see if that avoids this error. The "Recovery" folder is in:
Mac: "~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.1/Local Store" (copy and paste into the Go > Go To Folder dialog in the Finder)
Windows: "%appdata%/com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.1/Local Store" (copy and paste into a file explorer window)
In both cases above, include everything between the quotes (including the tilde ~ on the Mac and the percent symbols % on Windows) in the copy/paste, but not the quotes themselves.
Rename the Recovery folder and relaunch Muse. Does that avoid the error? If so, I'd be grateful if you'd send us the renamed Recovery folder at muse-support along with a link to this thread for context.
If not, let's go up two levels in the folder structure and rename the entire "com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.1" folder. Doing that will cause Muse to generate a new one from scratch. Does that avoid the error? If so, I'd like to get a copy of the renamed folder.
If not, we'll have to explore some other options.
