Hi,
you didn't specified the source of your data. There's a few plugins for files *.dat.

  • How to open famos (.dat) files on Diadem?

In my application here I´m using a data logger Kvaser Memorator Professional Tool for logging can signals using the software Kvaser Memorator Professional Setup Tool. When extracting the files logged in the card of the eqquipent, i have the following options for extensions:

     - Vector ASCII (.asc)
     - CAN frames in CSV format
     - CAN frames in plain text format
     - Famos (.dat)

     - Kvaser binary format (KME 2.5)
     - Kvaser binary format (KME 4.0)
What I want to do is to open the file in any of these extensions above using the Diadem 2011. Which is the recommended extension for my application? Is there any plugin i have to install on my computer? If son, which plugin and where to install it?
    Thank you so much!

    Hi Maurício -
For your future reference and for the information of everyone who comes across this post in the future:
We host all of our DataPlugins on our website at ni.com/dataplugins.  There are hundreds of file formats supported through the available DataPlugins, and there is also a link on that site where you can request a DataPlugin be written for file formats that aren't currently supported (such as custom *.CSV files).

  • Having difficulty reading data file and doing analysis, maybe DIAdem can help

    Hello,
I am new to DIAdem but I think it may be helpful to my application.
I used Write Labview Measurement File VI with n-signals input to generate a data file containing 2*n columns(time column and data column iteratively). Now I need to do data analysis from the file. I'd tried to use Read Labview Measurement File VI to load the data but didn't work. I found that it can only read file with one signal as input and without file header. But why?
What I want to do is to extract specific columns from the file. Some column has special flag values which divide the column into sections. I also need to extract these sections from the column and plot each of them. I know this can be easily done on other data analysis software but is there any way I can do it on Labview? Can DIAdem help with this?
    Thank you

    Hello,
To answer your last question first, DIAdem can certainly help. You can open the TDM file you created with the Write LabVIEW Measurement File VI with DIAdem. If you navigate to the TDM file in the External Data window of DIAdem NAVIGATOR, you can drag and drop the file into the Data Portal and use the channels of data at will.
You can also right-click on the file in the External Data window and choose Selective Opening…. There is a Help button in the Selective Opening window which will tell you more about using this feature.
Either way, once your data is in the Data Portal, you can use the DIAdem ANALYSIS to perform a wide range of analysis on your data. For more on the capabilities of DIAdem, I recommend starting at NI DIAdem.
Now, in regards to using the LabVIEW to access the data in your TDM file, this is also possible. If you are using LabVIEW 7.1, you will want to look at the Read Channel Groups example. This example uses a sequence of VIs from the Functions>>All Functions>>FileI/O>>Storage palette. The example demonstrates reading multiple channels from a TDM file.

  • Outlook 2010 - Data File Properties/Folder Size verses Windows Explorer pst file size

I am running Outlook 2010 32bit Version 14.0.6129.5000 on a Windows PC running Windows 7 Professional.  All updates from MS are up to date.
I have several pst files I open with Outlook 2010. The size of the files displayed in Outlook are very different than what is displayed in Windows Explorer.
For example one of the pst file called "business.pst" when opened Outlook displays it under "Data File Properties -> Folder Size" that the Total Size (including subfolders) is 764,354 KB.  Windows Explorer says
the file size is 1,190,417 KB.
For some reason MS Outlook 2010 is displaying the wrong folder size.  Any ideas why this is the case?
    Thanks,
    Pat

Outlook mailbox grows as you create and receive items. When you delete items, the size of the Outlook Data File (.pst and .ost) file might not decrease in proportion to the data that you deleted, untill it has been compacted.
Normally, after you have deleted items from an Outlook Data File (.pst), the file will be automatically compacted in the background when you’re not using your computer and Outlook is running.
For an exception, when the Outlook Data File (.pst) is somehow corrupt, the compaction might not finish correctly. So the size of the Outlook Data File (.pst) file might remain the same before compaction.
To solve this, try run the
scanpst to fix the Outlook Data File (.pst) file first, after that, we can
    manually start the compact command.
When finished, compare the file size again.

  • How do I import binary data files (with header info) into DIAdem?

We have lots of data acquired by nCode datagate. Files are binary data with header info. How do I import this into DIAdem? Typical (short) file attached. Also of interest, can I stream data from Sony PC208/SIR1000 recorders?
    Attachments:
    Propshft.dac ‏4 KB

I have successfully imported your file into DIAdem using the nCode file filter included with DIAdem. You might have to make that file filter known to DIAdem by following these steps (this assumes you have version 8 of DIAdem):
    1. Go to the 'Window' menu in DIAdem and select 'Close all'
    2. Go to the 'Settings' menu and select 'GPI-DLL Registration'
    3. Click the 'Add' button in the window and select the 'GfSnCode' DLL in the 'DIAdem/AddInfo' directory
    4. The program will prompt you to restart.
    5. After you have restarted DIAdem, go to the DATA icon, select 'File - Open' from the DATA menu and in the dialog that appears, choose 'nSoft Data File Format' in the 'Files of type:' field.
    6. Select your data file and load
    That's it.
With regards to your Sony reco
rder data, I would need to get my hands on an actual data file to try it out. In general, DIAdem can import ANY binary file format by creating a header in the 'File - Import via header' section in DATA. If you have lots of data files from the SONY recorder, a DLL can be created for that specific file format with the free DLL toolkit included with DIAdem.

    Hi
According to your error message, we need to verify if Microsoft SQL Server Compact appears in the
Change Data Source dialog. If not, you need to install
SQL Server Compact components for Visual Studio firstly, and if you choose to install SQL Server Compact 4.0 , you should note that SQL Server Compact 4.0 supports in Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 or later versions. I recommend you to install the latest
Service Pack (SP) of SQL Server Compact, and latest SP of Visual Studio, then check if the error still occurs. For more information, see:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlservercompact/archive/2011/03/15/sql-server-compact-4-0-tooling-support-in-visual-studio-2010-sp1-and-visual-web-developer-express-2010-sp1.aspx
However if there is no problem with the installation of SQL Server Compact, it will be an issue that regards ASP.NET and website deployment. I suggest you to post the question in the ASP.NET forums at
http://forums.asp.net/ . It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.

  • The command,"Dataloadred" is not working for a very large data file

I have a file which size is 1.8Gb and it has 3 data channels including time channel. I tried reduced loading of the file using the command "Dataloadred" at the interval of 5. The below is the script.
    'start script----------------------------
    call Filenameget("Data","fileread")
    call DataLoadHdFile(Filedlgfile)
    call DataLoadRed("Filedlgfile","2-3",1,0,"First interval value","Start/Width/Number",10,453028984
    ,5,90605794,1)
    'end script-------------------------------------
The following error message was displayed on the screen, which was resulted from the command, "Dataloadred()".
"loading file (filename): Insufficient channels are available with the required channel length [3/90605794].
To resolve this problem, I tried to allocate the channel length to 200M using the command " Chnalloc
(). But this also resulted in the same kind error as above.
How Can I resolve this problem and load my data by reducing. Your reply would be appreciate.
    Regards,
    Sky

    Hi,
    Please try this:
    1. Start DIAdem
    2. Open the "settings" menu
    3. Choose "Memory management..."
    4. Click the "Data matrix..." button
    5. In the dialog, set the "No. of channels" and "Channel length" to meet your requirements
    6. Click "Close"
    7. DIAdem will now restart and set up the data channels at the length you have selected
Depending on how large you set the data matrix size, starting DIAdem may take a few minutes (depending on your computer equipment).
An alternative to loading and reducing data sets may be the "Register File" function in the DATA window. Once you have clicked on the DATA icon, select the "File" menu and choose the "Register File..." option. Registering files will not actually load a data set, and thus speed up the data acce
ss part of DIAdem. To learn more about this function, go to the help system and search for "Registering a file in DIAdem DATA".
I hope this will help you. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

    EmieSiteList and EmieUserList
    Microsoft Security - Privacy Concerns
I found two unknown directories on my PC in my user profile.  I have, so far, been unable to identify what put them there, which process owns them, and when I delete them (using Admin escalated privileges) they come back after a few minutes or immediately
    after reboot.
         c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\EmieSitelist\container.dat
         c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\EmieUserlist\container.dat
         C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList\container.dat
         C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserlist\container.dat
It was time, anyway, so I wiped the drive using factory low-level overwriting and performed a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro using a freshly downloaded ISO from Microsoft; one with an ESD distribution, written to a new just out-of-the-bedamned-hardshell-plastic
    flashdrive..
I just completed the clean install, in this sequence:
Boot to flashdrive and let Windows create partitions then install.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.
Activate.  Check AppData; no folders found.
Run first Update; install everything except Bing Bar and Desktop.    Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.
Add Feature Windows Media Center.  Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.
Run Updates a second time.  Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.
Remove MS C++ v12 x86 and x64 installed during Update.    Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.
Download from MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/default) Redistributables MS C++ x86 and x64, 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012.4 versions, and install in sequence.  Check AppData
after each install; no folders found.  Reboot after each install and check AppData; no folders found.
Run Updates a third time.  Response was No Updates Available.  Check AppData; no folders found.
Reboot.  Check AppData; all four sub-directories are now present.
These sub-directories and dat-files are not, so far, present in the AppData\Roaming directory.
    There is nothing except Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro WMC and the 10 MS C++ packages installed; and MS Silverlight and AMD (videocard) Catalyst Control Center on the machine.  Windows Defender is present but is installed as part of Windows 8 and 8.1;
and its' updates are provided via the MS Update process.  All - repeat ALL of these items are provided by Microsoft.
My questions are:  What are the Emie directories for; what program created them, and what does the various container.dat files "contain"?  And . . . if not absolutely necessary, How do I get rid of them and keep them from coming back?
    First attempt at Solution:
Permissions are Full for System, USERNAME, and group Administrators.  The USERNAME is the Owner, and Effective Permissions for each of the 3 is Full.
    Open Command Prompt (Admin)

    C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieSiteList\container.dat
    C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieSiteList
    C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieUserList
    C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieUserList\container.dat
    C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserList\container.dat
    C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserList
    C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList
    C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList\container.dat
    C:\>
BOTH Files and Directories are no longer Hidden.  The Directories still show that the files within are READ-Only, but checking the actual file shows that it is no longer R-O.
I then deleted each of the 4 directories and  closed Windows (File) Explorer.
After less than 3 minutes reading pages on the internet (at Microsoft's Ask Windows Community), I opened Windows Explorer to check and found that the sub-directories had re-created themselves in both the Local and LocalLow directories.
The container.dat files were back in the Local sub-dir and after another few minutes, also back in the LocalLow sub-dir.
Both the sub-directories and the container.dat files are once again Super-Hidden.
Analysis using Windows utilities and SysInternals and NirSoft tools have not identified which object or process or service owns these objects.
ADDED:  My system is a home system, not connected to any work domain via VPN or otherwise.  WHY is the Windows Update Team not spending time to implement condition-and-error-checking to ensure that unneeded updates, services, and changes are not made
without the system owner/operator permission?  Further, WHY is this particular issue so hard to find info about; what is being kept from customers and why?

    Dear sir Shovel Driver,
       About:  EMIEsitelist  and  EMIEuserlist
    .., hidden directories and dat-files
Internet Explorer 11 (on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1) provides increased performance, improved security, and support for the modern technologies like HTML5 and CSS3 that power today’s Web sites and services. By adding better backward compatibility with
Enterprise Mode, Internet Explorer 11 now helps customers stay up to date with the latest browser—and facilitates using the latest software, services, and devices.
IE11 Enterprise Mode can be set in the Group Policy Console, or by adding a
    Registry setting:
    REGISTRY:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
    "EnterpriseMode"="Disable"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode]
Or a edit a Group Policy setting, which you can find under:
    [Windows-Key]+[R]->[Run]->Type here:
       gpedit.msc
Press [Enter], with an UAC Warning:
Do you want to allow the following program to make changes on this computer:
    gpedit.msc ?
    Select/Press: Yes
Go to in the Left pane of the GPedti.msc Window:
      Computer Configuration
      Administrative Templates
      Windows Components
      Internet Explorer
Change / Add at right list, down under:
"Use the Enterprise Mode IE website list"
Set this option to - whatever you need;  Disabled,
    Enabled (Default is: Not Configured)
When Enabled, you need to add a list with Web-Sites, Domains or Web-Pages.
This policy setting lets you specify where to find the list of websites you want opened using Enterprise Mode IE, instead of Standard mode, because of compatibility issues. Users can't edit this list.
If you enable this policy setting, Internet Explorer downloads the website list from your location
      (HKCU or HKLM\Software\policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode),
opening all listed websites using Enterprise Mode IE, Web-Sites are seperated by a sign: "
If you disable or don't configure this policy setting, Internet Explorer opens all websites using Standards mode.
    Now to
    properly close and conclude this
    mystery:
    EMIEsitelist and EMIEuserlist
.., are hidden directories and dat-files
Thses directories and dat files are used to store data for the IE11
    EnterpriseMode.
It is not a: Virus, neither it is a Trojan, Hoax, KeyLogger or anything else bad.

  • Split Data File and Compare Events

    Hi All,
I'm pretty new to DiAdem and the community so I apologize if this has been answered.
The data file I am working with is a vehicle field test and I would like to compare events throughout a single data file events highlighted by the flagged section of the attached picture.  I figured out how to flag and copy the data but I am wondering if there is an easier way to make the data line up without iteratively calculating it?  I'd like to do this without a script to be able to investigate these events before an analysis script is finalized.  Ideally I would like to select a second X-axis and slide it so the copied data lines up with the original.

Waveform data contains x-part and the y-part of a curve in one channel. The other way of storing data is having the x-data and y-data in separate channels. Based on your description, I think you have two channels of data, correct? When copying the data using the flags, there should be a copy of the x-data and a copy of the y-data.  From the picture, it looks like the y-data is being plotted against the original x-data and not against the copied x-data. To plot the copied x-data and the copied y-data:
    Select the x-data copy
Hold down the control (Ctrl) key
Select the y-data copy. This will pair the copy together.
    Release the Ctrl key.
Then you can drag and drop the seletced pair of copied data onto the View pane, as I did in my image above. You should not have to perform analysis to shift the data over time if you use this method.

  • SQL Loader and foreign characters in the data file problem

    Hello,
I have run into an issue which I can't find an answer for. When I run SQL Loader, one of my control files is used to get file content (LOBFILE) and one of the fields in the data file has a path to that file. The control file looks like:
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE 'PLACE_HOLDER.dat'
    INTO TABLE iceberg.rpt_document_core APPEND
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
    doc_core_id "iceberg.seq_rpt_document_core.nextval",
    -- created_date POSITION(1) date "yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss",
    created_date date "yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss",
    document_size,
    hash,
    body_format,
    is_generic_doc,
    is_legacy_doc,
    external_filename FILLER char(275) ENCLOSED by '"',
    body LOBFILE(external_filename) terminated by EOF
A sample data file looks like:
    0,2012-10-22:10:09:35,21,BB51344DD2127002118E286A197ECD4A,text,N,N,"E:\tmp\misc_files\index_testers\foreign\شیمیایی.txt"

    0,2012-10-22:10:09:35,23552,47DB382558D69F170227AA18179FD0F0,binary,N,N,"E:\tmp\misc_files\index_testers\foreign\leesburgis_á_ñ_é_í_ó_ú_¿_¡_ü_99.doc"
0,2012-10-22:10:09:35,17,83FCA0377445B60CE422DE8994900A79,binary,N,N,"E:\tmp\misc_files\index_testers\foreign\làm thế nào bạn làm ngày hôm nay"
The problem is that whan I run this, SQL Loader throws an error that it can't find the file. It appears that it can't interpret the foreign characters in a way that allows it to find that path. I have tried adding a CHARACTERSET (using AL32UTF8 or UTF8) value in the control file but that only has some success with Western languages, not the ones listed above. Also, there is no set of defined languages that could be found in the data file. It essentaially could be any language.
Does anyone know if there is a way to somehow get SQL Loader to "understand" the file system paths when a folder and/or file name could be in some other langauge?
Thanks for any thoughts - Peter

Thanks for the reply Harry. If I try to open the file in various text editors like Wordpad, Notepad, GVIM, andTextpad, they all display the foreign characters differently. Only Notepad comes close to displaying the characters properly. I have a C# app that will read the file and display the contents and it renders it fine. If you look at the directory of files in Windows Explorer, they all are displayed properly. So it seems things like .Net and Windows have some mechanism to understand the characters in order to render them properly. Other applications, again like Wordpad, do not know how to render them properly. It would seem that whatever SQL Loader is using to "read" the data files also is not rendering the characters properly which prevents it from finding the directory path to the file. If I add "CHARACTERSET AL32UTF8" in the control file, all is fine when dealing with Western langauges (ex, German, Spanish) but not for the Eastern languages (ex. Thai, Chinese). So .... telling SQL Loader to use a characterset seems to work, but not in all cases. The AL32UTF8 is the characterset that the Oracle database was created with. I have not had any luck if I try to set the CHARACTERSET to whatever the Thai character set is, for example. There problem there though is that even if that did work, I can't target specific lagauages because the data could come from anywhere. It's like I need some sort of global "super set" characterset to use. It seems like the CHARACTERSET is the right track to follow but I am not sure, and even if it is, is there a way to handle all languages.
    Thanks - Peter

  • Maximum data size in DIAdem

    Hi,
I am trying to load a 2 GB text file in DIAdem. This causes DIAdem to hang and I am forced to restart the software. Can it support this file size? If yes, then what is an approximate loading time?
    My system config is:
    Windows XP OS
    1 GB RAM
    3 GHz, P4 processor
    Thanks,
    Yash
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Yashasvi,
Please note that loading large files will be significantly faster the more memory (2GB or better 3-4 GB) and the faster harddrive you have.  A fast (and defragmented) hard drive helps tremendously, especially on Laptop computers (make sure to have a 7,200 RPM drive vs. a 5,400 PRM drive if you have a choice).
Your file is about 2x larger than your available memory, and once you add Windows and DIAdem to the memory needs, you have very little available memory for data. Memory upgrades are relatively cheap and will have a big  influence on your import performance.
I can only reinforce what Brad mentioned, DIAdem probably doesn't crash, it's just very busy importing your large data file - we are talking hours here due to having to swap memory on the harddrive. I recently tested something similar on my Laptop (2GB RAM dual core 1.83 Mhz) and on my home PC (Quad core with 4 MB and fast HDD). My home desktop PC was about 7x faster with the same file.

  • MP3 as a data file stora

I bought an mp3 "Zen nano plus". Everything was great. Today i went to format a friend computer I had my Nano with me so I said "I will save your documents on my nano we'll save a CD" so I went into the Windows Explorer and I add his documents. When I finally finish my job. I tried to put back the data files on his computer but I couldn't. It says "Please insert a CD-Rom when I was double clicking onto the removal disk F. I went back at home to try it. Same think at home, I unplugged it and I turn power on. Creative apear ... Zen nano plus ... and it shut down!
What's the problem in the little book it say "You can also transfer data files using ..."
    Thank you

I just had a thought that he may have packet writing software installed on the pc. I had trouble years ago with packet writing software. It was trying to take over the pc. After I uninstalled it the problems ended. For those who don't know, packet writing software is used to write to CDRW disks using drag and drop. It is often unreliable though and can be quite problematic. I suggest that people write to CDR and CDRW disks using mastering software such as Nero or Easy CD Creator, and to uninstall all packet writing software.

  • LabVIEW created .DAT file with saving only new data on existing files

I can successfully create and save a .DAT file using LabView and Diadem.   The save command I am using (in Labview) only overwrites existing files, I would like it to save only the new data from the last save.  Overall I would like to save the data every 1hr and since my test will last for many hours, the further along in the test the longer it would take to save the full file.  I know Diadem has the capability to save in such a manner, so I have thought about after I write to Diadem have a small Diadem application save periodically, but I haven't found a way to save the .DAT file, with out any signals coming into the save function.  I have attached the example .DAT file creater and saver I am using to figure it out.  thanks for your help!

    Howdy New Guy -
I am not sure if you are looking to append to a file, or if you would
like to overwrite a file.  In either case, you can take a look at
the "Append To File.vi" example for DIAdem.
Either way, you may be experiencing problems because you are only using
the "DIAdem Simple File Write.vi" (found on the DIAdem >> DAT
Files palette).  Instead, you can use the "DIAdem File Write.vi"
(located on teh DIAdem >> DAT Files >> DAT Files Advanced
palette).  This VI can be set to overwrite or append to file.
I hope this helps in your development!

  • Channel Data filters in DIAdem

    Hi All,
I am having NI DIAdem installed in my system.
I am having data to be analysed in .csv format and the same data i am able to see in DIAdem.
There are number of channels in this data.
There are Channel filters in DIAdem at the top right corner on Data Portal which can filter one channel within the entire channels in the data.
Suppose in one channel, i am having date & time (time stamp) when a particular data record was recorded having different channels in it..
Now, this channel is having say 1000 records/data corresponding time stamps.
My question is can i filter entire data as per the selection of time stamp for one channel/channels(s).
I did not found any tool in DIAdem to do this.
    Can anyone tell me.
    Samriddh Sarbalhi

    Hi Samriddh,
Let me try to clarify your request.  Let's stay with the example of data channels with 1000 values in them.  Will each channel have one date/time value associated with it or 1000?  Will all the channels in one data file have the same date/time value?  Do you want to concatenate together all the channels which have date/time values in the correct range?  If so, will some of those channels to concatenate come from different files?
I think we can use the DataFinder to tackle these issues, as long as you don't have 1000 different date/time values in each channel.  In that case we'll need to use a channel calculator or calculation manager session to filter the specific rows you want from one or more channels.
