Explosion of my macBook Pro batery!!

Batery of my MacBook Pro EXPLODE!!!!

sorry,
I speak catalan and spanish.... but english i speak what i can.. i meant my mac started to fail, go slower, lock the pointer, etc. .. I did not realize that something was wrong until one day I noticed typing mac totter. I understand that the batteries have a limited life, but when a device stops working does that stop working. I've never seen anything like it and does not seem normal. I do not know if it could cause damage to my computer anyway.
Of all I must say that looking at forums I saw that many other people have had the same problem .. battery swollen, yes, but also new batteries.
I'm still using Mac but I can not feel any confidence in this company.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Display - Crack/Pixel explosion?

A week or so ago I noticed what looked to be a spec of dirt on my 6 month old MacBook Pro retina screen.  However it actually is some sort of chip/crack in the display.  There are a few pixels which are now permanently white and you can see the hole with the naked eye and feel it quite easily.  It almost looks as if a pen or something has been jammed into the screen but I take good care of my MacBook and haven't caught anything on the screen as far as I'm aware.
I did a search on here and saw that several people have reported "pixel explosions" where dead pixels have burned a hole into the screen.  I took my MacBook into the Apple with printouts of several discussions of others reporting the same problem with a hole in the screen but the Genius refused to do anything in my case.  She basically said it was impossible for the hole to be anything but my fault despite the forum threads I showed her.  Is it worth me taking it into a different Apple store for a second opinion or am I stuck with this annoying hole in the bottom left of my screen forever?

I just found out the same thing on my MBPr tonight, acturally i got three this holes two small and one big one, I'm very disappointing, I have been searching and there are many versions of the solutions, some lucky people manage to get replaced, but some people like you didn't convince the genius people for a replacement, have you tried different apple store yet, maybe it depends on the people's mood at the apple store, I'm going to try my luck next Monday, finger crossed, I think i will definitely try different store if i cannot get it replaced, hopefully i will show you my good news. otherwise i will be very sad if i can get it replaced, I'm the Sheldon Cooper(from "bigbang theroy") kind of people, and i will be stare at the point forever and frustrated.

  • MacBook Pro Battery "explosion"

I pulled out my MacBook Pro from its backpack after a good month sitting unused under my desk.  The battery had "exploded" - and by that I mean that the casing had expanded, broken the seal and was coming apart.  When I removed it from the bottom of the MacBook, it was impossible to put it back.
    A) Any idea what caused this?  Its been sitting in a backpack, inside, under my desk.  No extreme temperature changes or anything.   I don't use it as often as I used to, my prime traveling computer is my ipad.   A month ago it was fine.  Now this.
    B) Is it safe to use the MacBook just plugging it in, with no battery installed?
    C) The MacBook is a few years old - but is this kind of thing covered by warranty?
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Only problem of running the Mac without a battery is that any power interruption will result in data loss, since the system will crash & die immediately.
New batteries can be had in many places, like PowerbookMedic.com or IFixIt.com. Just have your model # handy so you can locate the correct replacement. While you're at it, check and make sure the trackpad did not get bent and damaged by the expanding battery, a known side effect of that problem.

  • Disminución de bateria en MacBook Pro 13. / Decreased battery in MacBook Pro 13.

I have a 13-inch MacBook Pro back to 2011, so far the battery lasted well (aproximadamenta 7 hours) but recently, and overnight, significantly decreased their capacity and began to take up to two hours. It is important to clarify that I have not increased the number of programs open at the same time, unlike the I declined, but I know that I may be, if it is because of software or hardware.

The battery life is stated as "up to" 9 hours, not promising 9 hours. Having said that, I would suggest using a browser other than Chrome, as it is often considered a battery hog. Also note, it is perfectly fine to use the computer with the AC power connected. As a rule of thumb, use it AC power when available, and on battery power when portability is required.

  • Macbook Pro issues - can anyone tell if 'normal' or faults

I have some issues with my new 15" 2.66 unibody (non-removable batery) MBP. I'm told by the retailer that they are all normal/common - i'd like see if this is actually the case or they fobbing me off.
1.) Something 'lose' inside the case around hard drive area - ie if i move the mac around (vertically is worst - ie imagine holding it with two hands with hinge sitting downwards, closed) i can hear something fairly hefty clunking back and forth against the inside of the shell (hard drive moving about?)
2.) When i opn the lid for the first time after a period of the mac being closed, i get a reasonable creak/crack from the left side of the screen hinge.
3.) When i run the battery down and it goes to sleep 'to preserve the contents of memory' it doesn't take long at all before battery so low it goes into deep sleep (ie state where all RAM contents are written to disk - and then takes a min or so to come to life again when you open the lid - my old macbook pro could last a good few hours in sleep mode before dying completely and deep sleeping
I'd really like to know if anyone has noticed similar issues with their machines - or if indeed these are isolated issues to a few, aka faults.
    Thanks in advance

The sudden motion sensor may make the appearance of something bouncing in there as it may activate while the drive is being moved around suddenly. However, if this does not appear to be the case, I'd ask an authorized service center.

Is the opening range different from other ones in the store?

The battery may need calibration at first:

If it is calibrated, and you aren't getting the life expected by that link for rudimentary usage, have the power manager looked at.

  • I just bought my macbook pro and it's charged up to 100% and is still plugged in but now shows the battery at 98%.  How is this possible when it's plugged in to the charger and the green light is on?

I just bought my macbook pro and it's charged up to 100% and is still plugged in but now shows the battery at 98%.  How is this possible when it's plugged in to the charger and the green light is on?

The system regularly lets the battery drop to about 95% when on the charger, then recharges to 100%.  This lets the batery exercise "just a little" all of the time and saves the recharge curcuits from overuse.
    Regualr occurence for me.
Also ... you need to let your battery work at least once per month.  Let it run down to 40%, but not less if you can at all avoid it.  Running thr battery fully dead will shorten the battery life significantly.

  • Two graphics card on macbook pro which one do I use?

I have two graphics cards on my macbook pro. ADM random 6490m (256mb vram) and Intel HD graphics 3000 (512mb vram). My question is which one should I use? I don't do any hardcore gaming or photoshop. I guess that I am just looking for the best display and least buffering if that even has anything to do with the graphics card. I just want to get the most out of my macbook. I appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Your MBP more or less chooses which graphics card to use automatically.  In System Preferences>Energy Saver, check Automatic graphics switching.  When it's checked on, it will use the higher power and higher quality dedicated AMD 6490 when you're plugged into the wall, and uses the Intel 3000HD when on battery.
I have downloaded gfxCardStatus to give me more control over which graphics card to use.  There are times I might want the AMD while on battery, even though it runs hotter and uses more battery life.
Either card will do well with HD movies, though I notice a lot more artifacts with the Intel 3000 when the movie has a lot of action or explosions or sounds.  If you want to do hardcore gaming, you need the AMD of course.  Photoshop is more dependent on the central processor rather than the graphics card, so I'm not sure you'd have much issue using either one.

  • My Macbook pro retina battery is not working

    Hello everybody,
I kinda need help, maybe somebody here can give me an advice. I kinda destroyed my Macbook pro retina with coffé My father spilled the coffé on the table and the coffé went exactly inside the laptop. It didnt work but after complete and careful cleaning it works. (except the battery) Battery is not working at all, but interesting is, that I still can see the percentage of charge of the batery.
In the authorised czech service they told me that they need to replace the whole battery (with the skelet of the laptop) so it is very expensive. But I believe that there is maybe some other way? Anybody can help me?
    Thank you very much
    Jakub

I forgot... The percentage of the charge of the battery is moving now it is 9% but before it was more... 10%,11% etc...

  • Iphone ruined my macbook pro retina batterie? is this possible?

    Hello,
I have a macbook pro retina 15" and sudenly the batterie stoped charging.
A few nights before i left my iphone 4 conected to it because i had no charge on it. Later in that morning the iphone was charged (and the laptop wasnt connected to the ac charger)
I went away for a week without the laptop and when i returned and tryed to charge the computer. So i pluged the charger. 6 hours after, the red light in the charger was still on. (The charger is brand new, bought online in november 2013)
I found it strange and pressed the power button on the laptop.
it started normally while connected and the battery icon said it has 28% of battery, but it also has the info that its not charging and to replace the batery. A few minutes after using the laptop it sudenly turns off. I unplug the charger and it doenst power on hen i press the power button, but when i connect the charger he assumes it and powers on automaticly. I also made the SMC reset but with no positive result.
The one year warranty expired two months ago, and since it was bought on the USA and i live in Portugal im having some issues trying to solve this.
I went today to a mac premium store here in Lisbon, Portugal and they sayd i have to replace the top bottom (?) where the battery is located. They just asked for 530€ (aprox 750 dollars) just for the replacement part.
The guy from the store said that you should never leave your macbook pro stored with 100% battery, always between 40 and 60%, is this true?
Im having a huge trouble in acepting this because i dont use the laptop while charging, i always let it almost empty before charging again. and i dont use it a daily basis.
Is it possible a computer so expensive has so many problems?
Someone has an opinion or idea?
    Thanks
    Pedro

Start by calling Apple Support at the country number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 as the info from the person you talked with is incorrect.
You can leave the MBP with a full charge with no problems, in fact that is the best thing to do.
The iPhone charging did not damage the MBP battery, the failure of that battery is another issue.
When you say you bought the MBP charger on-line, is it an Apple charger or third-party charger?  Many thiord-party chargers do not output the correct power (voltage and current) for the computer and do cause damage to the battery and charging circuitry.
Talk with the Apple Support people and see what they recommend and how to proceed.

  • MacBook Pro Retina problem

I have a brand new MacBook Pro 13 inch with retina display, i downloaded the game Worms from the App Store and started playing while i was playing the game my trackpad didn´t work normaly, I have the pulse option to make click enabled in my mac so i don´t have to push down the trackpad to click just pulse it with my finger but it wasn´t working on the game i had to pulse like 3 times so the mac make the click i don´t have idea why that happened, I got bored playing because of that problem so i closed the app and decided to erase it... When I was out of the app my trackpad worked nice again and still does it perfectly so i wonder why that problem happened? is it a problem with my mac? or a problem with the app? what do you think?
Well, I opened Safari and typed apple.com to make this question and noticed that my menu bar wasn´t okay the part where the batery status and the wi-fi wasn´t looking sharp or clear, you know that the retina display has pretty well resolution.. well that piece of my mac wasn´t okay I could see the pixels so i want to know again if this error is my mac or just cause of the game (because i was playing in full-screen) maybe it was just effect of the full screen maybe the game doesn´t have a retina support?? I just put my mac to sleep and now it is okay again but i´m still worried...

"if you are not gonna help, why do you answer?"
I answer in the hope that if your post is intelligibile and coherent perhaps one can make sense of it.

  • Rupture Battery on MacBook Pro 17"

Well, I can attest that there is a battery issue with the laptops made these days. My battery for my MacBook Pro stopped functioning correctly and ruptured. It looks as those there was an internal explosion, causing the battery to bulge quite noticeably.
Apple was quite good in discussing the issue with me. They have already sent a replacement. Of course, they want the damaged battery returned.
Funny thing is, I definitely got the impression that they weren't surprised at all by my calling about the battery. I find this interesting as I had not heard of any issues regarding the newer batteries with the MacBook Pro 17 inch laptops.

    Hello
In another Thread, today, I discussed the same Problem. I think in a couple a days we will get an CallBack for Batteries for the MacBook Pro 17 from Apple.
Maybe this problem causes the delay of the new MacBook Pro 17" of the second generation. I ordered mine on the same day Apple annouce it and till now I haven't heard anything. My Dealer told me it will take another 2 weeks (something around the first week in december)

  • Partial Duplicate iTunes Library onto MacBook Pro for portability?

As many of you, my iTunes library is growing leaps and bounds and as such I've have it on an external 1 TB drive. It is connected to my MacBook Pro while at home and it is the master to which I sync my iPhone and TV.
Now when I want to go portable with my laptop, I lose my iTunes library. I cannot transfer the entire library to the MacBook Pro because it is too large for the laptop's internal drive.
Is there a way to make the MacBook Pro have a secondary library that is a selected portion of your master library like you do with your iPhone or TV?
Surely someone has come across this with the use of laptops and explosive growth of iTunes.
    Thanks

you can create a secondary library on your MBP but, personally, i find running multiple libraries cumbersome.
instead, you can have selected content stored on your MBP (while the bulk remains on the external) and still use only one library.
you could use the following script to move your selection from the external to your boot drive:
    [_*Re-Locate Selected v1.1*_|http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=relocateselected]
This script will re-locate the files of the selected iTunes tracks from their current location to a new user-chosen folder. iTunes will be updated with each track's new location and all of each track's meta-data will be preserved. Option to remove the files from their original location. (I don't advise using this on more than an album's worth of tracks or so at a time; re-locating dozens of tracks' files to a single folder doesn't seem to make much sense to me.)
NOTE: If your "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" preference set, you will not be able to create new folders in or re-locate files within the iTunes Media folder; outside is OK.
or, you can do it manually:
    (1) go iTunes > preferences > advanced and temporarily point +*iTunes media folder location+* to your local iTunes folder. on the same tab, ensure +*copy files to ... when adding to library+* is check marked.
    (2) select (highlight) the desired content in iTunes, right-click (or ctrl-click) and choose +consolidate files+ from the pop-up menu.
when done you could delete the files you moved from their original location (the external) or just keep them there for backup purposes.
don't forget to point +*iTunes media folder location+* back to the external.
if you insist on a separate library for your MBP, you might want to take a look @ these 3rd party apps:
    PowerTunes

I recently purchased an extended life battery, because my one from Apple had finally died on me. The new battery was causing me some grief -- and somehow in the process of resetting my pram/nvram (which the battery company told me to try), my clock g
