Export 3D grid structure from Photoshop to Illustrator

Hi everyone,
I have Photoshop CS4 Extended and have created a 3D sphere using the 3D menu. Under the render settings I have it set to edge style so that all you're seeing is the grid structure that makes up the object.
I would like to be able to export this grid structure so that I can manipulate it further in Illustrator. Can someone tell me if this is possible?
Appreciate any help.

Ok you are revolving a path and therefor you have to have a half circle path yo do that of course by drawing a full Circle closed path then say select the left most point and delete it now you have a half Circle. Now you revolve the path and you will have your globe this is what it looks like when the effect is not applied or visible. You know in CS 4 you can turn of the visibility of an effect.

  • Can't export an EPS file from Photoshop CS5 and open in Illustrator CS5.

    I'm on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
    I am making DVD covers for print. The barcodes for the DVD covers have to be done in Illustrator. But the original designs are done in photoshop including the text. For years this hasn't been a problem. Right before adding the barcodes I create an EPS file from photoshop, open that file in Illustrator and all my text is automatically coverted to perfect crisp clean vectors, viola! I add the barcodes and export the PDF for the printers.
    But now I can't open my EPS files in Illustrator CS5 even though I'm exporting them the same way I always have from Photoshop CS5. Illustrator says... "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error." --> Note it does not give an error number after this warning like I see it does for so many other people.
    I have been trying to fix this for over 10 HOURS spanning 2 days! I'm infuriated I can't get help from Adobe on this and have read all the forums and don't see my problem listed anywhere.
    I've tried:
    - Deleting the .plist file and the Settings folder & resetting my permissions
    - Uninstalling and Reinstalling Illustrator
    - Turning off all other applications
    - Creating more disk space on my hard drive (even though I have 200gb available)
    - Restarting the computer
    - Disabling my Font book and still I can't open the EPS file
    I thought maybe it's possible it's the font I'm using Fontesque OT so I even tried converting text to objects prior to exporting the EPS file from photoshop to illustrator and turning off my font book, but still it won't open. And if I open the PSD directly in Illustrator, text comes out a bit fuzzy in the PDF I export.
    If anyone can provide any solutions I would be so grateful! I'm at my wits end here, this should have taken under an hour to do and now it's ruining my entire weekend. I'm completely panicked because I was suppose to have these to my client over the weekend so they could turn them in for Print frist thing on Monday morning and of course Adobe provides no chat support or phone support after 7pm on weekday or on the weekend which is when this all started.

    I never even thought of reinstalling photoshop, but I think this was a font issue. I'd never saved an EPS with Fontesque OT Regular enabled, only Fontesque OT Bold. Somehow I think the font was causing the problem because ridding the font from the equation allowed me to open the EPS file.
    After 12 HOURS of trying different things I found a WORK AROUND...
    I had to:
    - Select the Text in Photoshop (with Fontesque OT enabled)  --> Select Create Work Path --> Covert to Shape on each of the text items
    - Save EPS file out of Photoshop
    - Disable Fontesque OT font in Font Book
    - Then open EPS in Illustrator add in my Barcodes and export the PDF
    (the barcodes have to be added in Illustrator because they need to be pure 100% black with no CMYK color in them. You can't save them out of Photoshop that way, only Illustrator, otherwise I would have made my pdf straight out of photoshop like any other normal human
    This work around is the only way I could get the EPS files to open in Illustrator and still have the text remain super crisp like a vector.
    NOTE to others in the future about crisp text from Photoshop to Illustrator:
    - Simply "converting to shape" did not preserve the vector. You have to Select Create Work Path --> then Covert to Shape on each of the text items (with the font enabled) for this to work and preserve the crispness of the text. Even creating "smart object" did not truly preserve my vectors or the text crispness in the EPS file once I imported it into Illustrator.
    DrStrik9 thank you SO MUCH for trying to help me. You did give me ideas that helped me figure out the workaround and also helped me feel not so alone as I struggled through this. I'm going to follow up with your other suggestions about reinstalling photoshop and also checking my RAM, etc. But I just want to that you so so so SOOOO much for all your time and consideration in this matter. I hope you have a wonderful amazing week ahead and that someone does something very nice and thoughtful for you too

  • File displaying different from Photoshop to Illustrator

    I have a simple chalkboard background I made in Photoshop and I'm importing into Illustrator. My issue is the file displays completely different from Photoshop to Illustrator. See image below.
    I've had this happen to other files but this one is so incredibly different, I can't understand what's happening and I can't manage the design with it being this different. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance for your help!
    Rachel

    Thanks again Monika. I can't figure this out. The color management is all synchronized among all my Adobe applications. Yes the file is in layers and when I view the JPG in Photoshop, it looks as it should. It's only when I bring it into Illustrator does it look like that. I opened up a new Illustrator doc and placed the same JPG (as well as dragged the PSD file directly from the Photoshop window into Illustrator) and it looks better and more like it should. My other doc was a new doc too so I'm not sure what happened. At any rate, I can't explain what happened and I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again.
    Thanks for your help!

  • CS6  Just upgraded my mac to Yosemite but now can't import graphics from photoshop to illustrator.  Does anyone know a solution

    CS6  Just upgraded my mac to Yosemite but now can't import graphics from photoshop to illustrator.  Does anyone have a solution?

    My advice to you is, if you can, drop back to Mavericks. You will have better luck since CS4 is not supported (nor are CS5 or CS5.5) on Yosemite. The other alternative is to uninstall the entire suite, run the cleaner tool and reinstall completely from the original discs or a new download. Be prepared for other fun stuff as well.

  • Having a problem moving a text document from Photoshop to Illustrator.. Won't let me edit the text

    Hi there,
    I'm a complete technophobe so the answer to this could be quite obvious. I had to create a text using photoshop because of the inside of the text... i.e using a lobster font and it was pink glitter inside it so to give a girly effect.. It's for a college asignment.
    I have to use illustrator CS6 to put that text on a b/ground I already made in Illustrator but the .psd doc won't let me edit it in illustrator, it's almost like a PDF. Help!
    I hope it's not too confusing to understand, thanks in advance.

    Erica,
    is there a simpler way of explaining that?
    And I feared it was too easy to understand.
    You may, in front of the overall background (which you may lock or hide):
    1) Create a background with the appearance you wish to apply to the letters, such as a solid cpolour, a gradient or other clolour transition, and some pink glitter in front of it, you may Group all this for convenience; and you may use raster artwork (maybe from Photoshop) if you like;
    2) With the Type Tool create the live Type on top of 1), you may move and size it to fit (roughly);
    3) Select 1) and 2) and Object>Clipping Mask>Make; 2) will become the (invisible) Clipping Path showing the parts of 1) that are behind it and hide the rest.
    As mentioned, you may Direct Select 1) or 2) and edit or move them about relative to the background and each other.

  • Is there a way to export different button states from Photoshop to Edge Reflow? (eg., normal, hover, hit)

    Is there a special naming convention I can use for layers to have the Photoshop to Edge export tool automatically recognize a button with various states?  Rather than have static images, is it possible to have normal, hit, and hover states?
    Thanks.

    No, there's not a way to do this from Photoshop.

  • Some colours change from Photoshop to Illustrator in Swatches saved in Exchange format

    When I save a colour swatch in Photoshop Extended CS3 in the .ase format and load it into Illustrator CS3, some of the colours change completely - e.g. a bright orange #ffbb29 (in Ps) appears as a pale grey blue #B2BACE (in Ai). The problem seems to be with the use of upper or lower case - if the orange is question is saved as #FFBB29, it appears correctly in Illustrator (although bizarrely this seems to only affect some colours that feature (hex) letters).
    Is there a way of getting Photoshop to automatically give the values in upper case? I know I could just retype them all, but it would take ages (I use Swatches all the time) and it kind of defeats the whole Exchange idea. Or is there another way round the problem? My colour settings are synched (via Bridge) across CS3 Design Premium. Thanks in advance.

  • Draging images from photoshop to illustrator

    Hello,
    I am attempting drag images made in photoshop cs5 in illustrator cs5 on a mac. However when I do this any transparent portions of the photoshop image fill with white. Is there any way to keep that from happening?

    As emmysue32 wrote you can also used advanced tiffs or transparrent ftiffs as they are sometimes known which Illustrator CS 4 and later support which also means they be placed perserving thier layers as with .psd files.
    However, at least for Illustrator it is not necessary to check the Preservve Transparency option as long as youy tell the diting application to wrtie layers.

    Placed in Illustrator CS 5.02 withoutht he transparency otpion checked

  • Exporting the Document structure from CDESK

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to export the Document structure coming in Tcode CDESK for assemblies to Excel format with the fields like MM#, Description,ECM#, User etc.... How to get it ?
    Thanks,

    Hi Suresh,
    The structures can be brought to screens as a view only with enhancement and you need tio cinsult with abap'r and ask to make a view for the structure in respective screen like MM# ,ECM#. The views can resolve your requirement.
    I hope this will help.

  • Spot color from Photoshop to Illustrator

    Man, this used to be not a big deal.  I usually print in CMYK, but I am laying out bz cards that need to be black and pantone 200u, just 2 color.  When I transfer the logo from PS to Illustrator the pantone 200 changes values.  I tried putting it in ID and it changes values there too.  The printer needs it to be pantone 200 and the press will print it that color.  It is a jpeg file.  Do I convert to CMYK or should it still be RGB?  How can I import it into Illustrator and it stay pantone 200.  I'm not sure of the values of the color now because in every application it is different.  Where can I find the values?  Years ago you would give it to the printer in black for spot on different layers and they would handle it.
    hear are my 20 questions...
    how can I import spot from PS to Illustrator
    The values of pantone 200u
    leave rgb or cmyk
    jpeg is this ok or do I need to change it to another format

  • Exporting from photoshop to illustrator

    Hi
    I have photoshop files that have UI elements but i dont know how to use it in illustrator as with normal copy and paste it doesnt work, i tried
    to open the files in illustrator and although i choosed the option convert layers to objects but that doesnt work as all layers are converted to
    a one whole image ?
    Kind Regards

    If you save a layered image in Photoshop as a .psd file, you should be able to open the image in Illustrator and retain the layers. Try following the steps below:
    First save your image in Photoshop in .psd format, and make sure you have the save layers option checked. Be sure that you haven't flattened your artwork, and that all of your layers are visible. If you have a layer in Photoshop that you have hidden, it will NOT import into Illustrator.
    In Illustrator, go to File > Open... and select your .psd image. Make sure you select "Convert Layers to Objects".
    You should now have your layers intact as they were in Photoshop.
    If you're still having issues after going through this process again, please let us know.

  • Passing a variable from Photoshop to Illustrator

    Alright, so I've been on here a lot the last couple weeks trying to figure out BridgeTalk, and I am starting to get the hang of it.  I am writing an Illustrator script which will open a specified template and then grab Photoshop's active document and place it on the template.  I have everything working perfectly with one hiccup.  The script goes to Photoshop, grabs the filepath, opens the Illustrator doc, and places the file perfectly.  BUT it always takes two runs through the script for it to work.  It's the weirdest thing.  So if I run the script when PS first opens, it gives me an error; if I run it again it works perfectly, but if I close that PS doc and open a new one, then run the script, it places the previous document!
    I am stumped and have tried everything I can think of.  Here is a simplified version of the part of the script that produces the error.  The first time I run the script, "alert(psFile)" is completely wrong, but when I run it again it works perfectly.
    #target illustrator
    var psFile;
    infoFromPS ();
    var illTemp = File("/Users/art1/Desktop/template.ai");
        app.open(illTemp);
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    function infoFromPS() {
       var bt = new BridgeTalk;
       bt.target = "photoshop";
       bt.body = "app.activeDocument.fullName;"
       bt.onResult = function(resObj) {
          var myResult = resObj.body;
          psFile = File(myResult);
       bt.send();
    alert(psFile);

    this simplified version is so simplified that is not connecting illustrator with photoshop in any way to be able to tell...but in any case, your script is not waiting for the result, it keeps going after you send it, that's why you get an error the first time, then after you get the previous result
    it goes like this the first time
    var psFile; // undefined
    infoFromPS (); // I'm not waiting for bridgeTalk to fetch me the result
    alert(psFile); // psFile is undefined,
    //...bridgeTalk returns the result after you're done
    psFile = 'some file';
    second time, or after you change the ps activeDocument
    var psFile; // I still have in memory the result from previous run ('some file')
    infoFromPS (); // I'm still not waiting for the result
    alert(psFile); // psFile is 'some file' from previous run,
    //...bridgeTalk returns the result after you're done
    psFile = 'some other file';

  • Shadow disappears from Photoshop to Illustrator

    I have a tiff with a transparent back ground with a low opacity shadow. I drop this into photoshop, it looks fine. I drop it into Illustrator and the shadow disappears. I need this image to have a shadow in Illustrator. I've tried exporting as a photoshop file, Photoshop EPS etc. I need it to be CMYK (so no pngs). HELP!

    But why would I be able to SEE the shadow in photoshop but not Illustrator if there was a clipping mask? This is what it looks like in Photoshop, followed by what it looks like in Illustrator. The center shadow stays but the shadows on the outside of the circle of cheese on the bottom right disappears.

  • Help with imported eps files from photoshop and illustrator using PANTONE

    I am new to InDesign and running into some very frustrating issues. I am preparing a catalogue for print which was created in Quark XPress previously. I tried converting it initially but had all kinds of strange things happening with type re-wrapping. The printer advised to recreate in InDesign. FIne by me because I'll learn as I go along.
    So I created a page in InDesign and place and eps file created in Illustrator using a spot Pantone color and a halftone created in Photoshop also using the same spot Pantone color. In InDesign the color swatch menu show both colors one as 228 C and the other as 228 C 1. How do I get just one definition for PMS228 coated that works across all three programs? Stuff like this pisses me off. Adobe should have one definition across all three.
    Help!!!

    My best guess for the two definitions is that the CMYK values of the colours do not match, so InDesign treats them separately. You can merge them using the In Manager. Open the Swatches panel and select Ink Manager from the flyout menu. Select PANTONE 228C 1, go to the Ink Alais pop-up menu, and select PANTONE 228. Now InDesign will treat the two colours as one separation on output.
    You should also take the time to open each graphic and resave as a native file. This means .psd for Photoshop and .ai for Illustrator. While there, see if you can make sure the colour names and definitions are consistent.

  • Placing files from Photoshop and Illustrator to InDesign

    I made a box in Illustrator and Extruded and Beveled it. When I placed it to InDesgin it had lines all around the outside of the box. I also made some circuit looking lines in Illustrator then opened it in Photoshop and Beveled and Embossed it, when I placed it in InDesign all of the diagonal lines were blurry. The image was rasterized when I opened it in Photoshop but the resolution is 300 ppi. I have my settings in InDesign set to High Quality and I have tried exporting my file as a PDF but then imperfections are still there.

    300 ppi in photoshop by itself means nothing. Did you scale the image? What's the Effective PPI when you check the Info?
    Even an effective PPI of 300 may not be enough for sharp edges. I typically like to see 1200 or more for line art going to press.
