Export addresses from ipad to new mail account
Become a legend and solve this one question.
My father in law (89 years old) has an iPad (two years old).
No computer no nothing, only an iPad.
The iPad is connected to an e-mail adress (iCloud).
We can not access the e-mail address (too long a story).
We want to connect the iPad and iCloud to a new address but that is not possible (i think) without erasing the whole content of the iPad.
If we erase and start all over again he will loose his addressbook.....
So how do we export the addresses currently on the iPad to his new Gmail address (that is not yet connected to the iPad).
So that after exporting we can simply erase the iPad and start all over again and link it to his new mail address.
Hope to hear from you and thank you for your efforts here (and hopefully on this one too...)
Regards,
Henk.
Your system admin should be more interested in the long message headers for all junk messages received since most reveal the sender's computer IP address which can and should be blocked at the server instead of the email addresses.
Since spammers don't provide a valid sending or return email address and are constantly changing the phony email address that appears as the sending address, building a blacklist file based on these phony email addresses only is like a dog chasing his tail IMO.
There is a script available included with a collection of AppleScripts that can do so but this script adds addresses found in the selected messages (in the header fields "From", "To", "Cc", and "Bcc") to the Address Book which can be exported and then removed from the Address Book if you are interested.

How do I add a new Mail account on my iPad with IOS 6.0.1?
How do I add a new Mail account on my iPad with IOS 6.0.1?
You should not need to enter anything. the iCloud service is one of the preconfigured options.
Just choose the iCloud type from the Add new Mail screen, and enter your details in the next screen.
If you don't have the iCloud option, but instead have the mobileMe option then you will need to update your iOS. -
my childs ipod and my ipad have the same email address and itunes ID how do I stop both devices duplicating everything, change email address or set up new itunes account?
On each device go to Settings> iTunes and App store> Turn off automatic downloads of Music, Apps and Books. Now a purchase will only go to the device from which it was ordered.

How do I stop Thunderbird from creating additional folders when I add a new mail account?
I've been using Thunderbird for about 8 years now, migrating the configuration from version to version. Currently I have two accounts it picks up email from. I want to add a third account but everytime I do this, it creates a bunch of new folders with the name of the account in my folder tree. This is undesirable, mainly because it looks terrible and it's also dodging the default filtering I have set up globally for received messages.
How do I create a new mail account without it making new folders and just using the local folders like the other accounts already do?
I do not use Thunderbird's internal spam filtering, I use popfile and use message filters to sort the emails by headers Popfile adds to my messages. I do not understand why it won't let me make a new account like the other accounts without making a special folder for the new account. Please help?Item 1. Global inbox only works with POP mail accounts.
Tools menu > account settings >server Settings > advanced and select use global inbox to turn it on. Note the folder will disappear, so move the mail you want from them before you change the settings.
Item 2. IMAP accounts must have their own folders. The View menu > folder > unified view was designed to overcome that as much as possible, -
Is it possible to keep an email account on the iPhone but stop if from checking for new mail?
I have an email account that has been deleted from the provider (Gmail), but I want to keep the old mails on my phone, while stopping it from checking for new mail. Is this possible?
If I disable the account to stop if from checking for new mail (and producing a bunch of annoying pop-ups every time the mail app is opened), the account becomes invisible and the old mails disappear. I want to keep them visible to I can read and refer to them, but want to stop the phone from trying to download new ones or check the account.
Any help appreciated. Thanks for the thought. In this case, that doesn't really help much, as it requires a bunch of button pushing just to check emails. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, in addition to switching modes every time I check email, it also prevents the other accounts from downloading the most recent mails as well. Since it's possible to keep an account on a Mac computer, but take it offline, it's very disappointing if there isn't a way to do the equivalent on an iPhone so that it passively holds the mails but doesn't send constant pop-ups every time the app is accessed.

How do I export addresses from my Earthlink webmail account to my Mac's address book?
Having trouble exporting addresses from my Earthlink webmail account to my Mac's address book. Won't accept the CVS file. How do I do this? Earthlink does not give me any options--it automatically creates a CVS file when I hit "export."
The tweaking comes after you have a working csv file which you don't yet. Just to be sure, here's what I did to get mine: In Earthlink webmail, click Preferences -> Address Book Tab -> Import/Export Address Contacts -> Export Address Book. Hopefully that presents you with this dialog box:
I did Save File, not Open, and put it on my desktop. Then launch Apple Address Book -> File -> Import, and navigate to your desktop and select the csv file. It has to have ".csv" at the end of the name as the correct file type. If you do all that and still get the same error message, something else is wrong. If it's still bad, check the csv file on your desktop, try to open it with Excel for Mac or some other spreadsheet program and you should see all the data - names, addresses if any, email addresses, etc. -
Import a new mail account from mac to iPhone
Hello folks,
I have a macbook pro and an iPhone 4. The first time I connected my iPhone to the macbook it imported all the mail accounts, with all the settings and so on. Now, I create a new email account on my macbook and I cannot figure out how to import this new mail account on the iPhone. Could you help me please?
ThanksOh no So if I want this account on my iPhone I have to create it directly from iPhone
Correct.
You create the account in mail on your Mac & on your phone. Since it's an exchange account, they will both be kept in sync. When you select sync mail accounts in iTunes, it's only the account settings that are synced, no actual messages are synced at all. You normally only do this one to transfer the account settings to your phone. -
How can I delete an email-address from an old Apple ID-account?
I need to delete an email-address from an old Apple ID-account, but the Apple ID seems to be deleted (but not by myself), to use it as a validated mail-address for communicating via iMessage from my new Apple ID.
I already tried 'Find my Apple ID'.but the Apple ID seems to be deleted (but not by myself), to use it as a validated mail-address for communicating via iMessage from my new Apple ID.
If that AüpleID has been disabled for security reasons, you may not be able to access it. Then you need to give Apple Support a call: only they will be able to help you. See this webpage on how to contact Apple Support in your country: There are either telephone numbers given or an email form:
Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security
Explain, that you need help with an account security problem.
You can also try to email the iTunes Support using this form:https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html -
STRANGE PROBLEM with "Create New Mail Account.scpt" when creating POP acct.
I am using "Create New Mail Account.scpt" to create a POP account. It creates the account successfully. It fetches the mails successfully. Now the problem begins. After fetching all the mails once if u click "Get Mail" in mac mail, it fetches all the emails again and has now 1 original and 1 copy of the email set which is on the server. I just need 1 copy of the mail set not multiple. Please give me a solution or direct me to a help.
Thanks

I can't quite tell what it's doing, but open Keychain Access in Applications>Utilities, click on your Keychain on the left, put .mac in the search bar, once you find it, double click on it and click show password.
If you have no mail in there try this with Mail quit.
Drag this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Start Mail & see if it steps you through it.
Not sure on the .uk thing, but is Date & Time>Time Zone set to the UK? -
I want to move my mail account (exactly how it is on my laptop now) to my new mail account on mavericks (which is on a new SSD drive) then i am going to format the old hard drive so i can use it as an extra hard drive.
Surely it should be easy?
I thought i could just drop the mail folder but it looks different on Maverick.
I also have a hard drive back up of the old folders and also a time machine back up.
I'm a total dummy.. so go easy on me pleaseExport makes a mailbox package whihc I thinkis what's need to properly restore on import.
See below for location of export.
For restoring from Time machine here's is the help text for doing so. (I've only done this on individual messages)
I also think if you copy everything in ~/Library/Mail you may be all-right. -
We are putting new mail accounts on an existing server, some users have accounts and we are adding new mail accounts for them in addition to their old accounts in the info section of the user account tab. Other new users are getting new mail accounts.
Problem...
All new mail accounts are not setting up correctly you cannot connect and also any mail delivered to the accounts comes back as user not found.
I have checked the Admin > Server > Access > Allow all users and groups
The logs look like this...

New mail account has no sent box
Hi,
I have changed email hosts, so exported the mail boxes from my old email account then deleted it.
I then created a new account (with various errors of not being about to verfiy the account) and all my emails from the switch over (yesterday) have appeared. Now just to pull in the exported mail boxes.
Only one problem. There is no sent box for the new mail account?! I've tried twice now and nothign works. Emails send fine and are recieved by which ever mail account I send it to, but there is no sent box! I have two other email accounts through Apple Mail on MacBook Pro and both of those are fine and have sent boxes.
How do I solve this?Sorry I wasn't clear in the first post. On my way into work today I started thinking it may be time to start over as well. You mentioned archive and install - would a clean install be better (I know it will be longer)?
Also, just for clarification - when I did a Full Restore from Time Machine was that the same as say restoring from a program like SuperDuper (that clones the hard drive)?
My thinking on this is if I do clean install, I should not restore from Time Machine if the structure carries over. That could be what is causing these problems. Instead I should back up my iPhoto and iTunes libraries via the built in back-up (to an external hard drive or DVDs), back up any documents, etc. and then really start over. Do a clean install, then reload 3rd party software from the original disks and restore the iPhoto and iTunes libraries, etc. -
Please can someone help a total technophobe?!!! I have recently set up a new mail account and since I've done that my wifi button has greyed out. Not sure what happened as I had help from my daughter. She doesn't think that she did anything wrong as has been an iPhone user since day one!! She's at work now so I'm totally lost. Please help. Many thanks.
it's' an issue on 4S..... here same problem, even after restore the firmware.... wifi and bt are lost....

How do I set up a new mail account on my iMac?
Hello everyone,
I think I used to have a Mail account however I could not remember the password when I tried to turn it on. I decided to delete the account completely and to start again. How do I set up a new mail account with a new email address and a new password??
I can see how you create a new mail account but it then asks for an email and password so that doesn't help. I really didn't think it would be a hassle!
Thanks,
WYou first need to set up a new User Name and Password with your Internet Service Provider (ISP); that is, whoever provides you with Internet access, such as Comcast, AT&T, etc in the US. Alternately you can go on the Internet and set up a new email Account with a new User Name and Password with a public company such as Google's "Gmail" or Microsoft's "Hotmail". Once you have set up your new Account with them, THEN you enter that information into Apple's "Mail" for it to send and receive emails for your new outside Account.
Hope this helps
