Export all logs into ascii files

Hi,
is there a way to automatically export all logs created with SignalExpress (I use the 2009 edition) automatically to ascii files, taking the names of each log as a base for the file name?
I am aware of the export to LVM/Ascii possibility, but this requires to manually edit the file name for each file.
So what I am looking for would be a way to apply the Options->Logging->"Automatically export log to text file" _afterwards_. Is there a way?
Cheers,
Niels

Hi Nils,
There is currently no utility or simple mechanism built into SignalExpress that will take an already created log, and then export it to ASCII.
I can think of a way to do it, as a "workaround" to say the least (assuming Time Waveform or Scalar logs).
1. Create a new SignalExpress project.
2. Import the logs you want to export to ASCII.
3. Go to Tools >> Options... and in the Logging section, set Automatically export log to text file = Yes.
4. Switch to Playback mode and select the first log.
5. Drop a Formula step and leave the default values (with Formula Y=x0)
6. Rename the output of the formula step as desired.
7. Right-click on the output of the formula step and select "Enable Recording".
8. Run the project.
From this point out, running the project will create a new (duplicate) log, and inside the new log folder will also be the exported ASCII file. By changing the active log, you can export each log.
Note 1: I did try using the Batch Process Log feature to export all logs at once, but SignalExpress returned an error after the first log...
Note 2: I'm not sure the names will be generated exactly as you would have liked.
I completely realize this is NOT ideal!

  • How to export all tracks into audio files with the same duration

    Hi everybody.
I am trying to export all the tracks into different audio files.
It's 10 soft. instruments and an audio track. I tried with "File>Export>All Tracks as Audio File but the result is 11 audio files with different lengths. As the song is 3 minutes and 20 seconds I would like every single track to be 3.22 sec long.
How do I do it? In fact, each track is composed not only by played instruments but also by moments of silence.
    Thanks!!

The files are different lengths because each instrument does not stop playing at the same moment. It would accomplish nothing other than waste disk space if Logic appended silence to the end of each file in order to make each track the same length. The different lengths you see mean nothing because the absence of appended silence means nothing.
each track is composed not only by played instruments but also by moments of silence.
Naturally. And that silence is accounted for in your exported files, when the silence appears at the beginning of the track, and when it appears during the track. It just isn't appended at the end because that would be pointless. Consider this project, consisting of four tracks:
When I use the command File > Export > All Tracks as Audio Files, Logic will produce four files that look like this:
The files are not equal in length, which is perfectly fine. What's important is that they all start at bar 1, and will align properly when imported into some other program. So all you need is the command you already used: File > Export > All Tracks as Audio Files. In one step, it will produce all the files you need, and it will produce them correctly.
By using Bounce, you would be gaining nothing except extra work, because you would have to do it separately for each file you wanted to produce. With Export > All Tracks as Audio Files, you get all your files with just one command.

exporting tracks means that any panning or automation will not be rendered. So if you want the engineer to put up all of your tracks at unity gain (all faders at zero) and have your tracks & stems reproduce the mix you're hearing at your studio, use bounce, not export.
If you want to have your tracks & stems reproduce the mix you're hearing at your studio, there's no need to go to the extra effort of using Bounce instead of Export. You only need to enable (in the Export dialog) the checkbox "Include Volume/Pan Automation." This is explained on p. 1022. When you do this, any panning or automation will indeed be rendered.

  • Export all tracks as audio files in LPX has suddenly ceased to function correctly

I have been working on a project for the past three months, which requires me to work from home ,then export all my tracks as audio files and take them into another studio. This is because my collaborator's DAW of choice is now Nuendo. So far, this has proved to be a very successful approach to our workflow, until today. As an example , I have a cue with 96 tracks. When I came to use export all tracks as audio files, the usual window came up, defaulting the destination to the bounces folder in the Logic song. However, this time, instead of the expected and correct number of tracks to be saved ( 96 ) , the total was 25 !
I tried this with a few other recent Logic songs and the same thing happened. None of us can figure it out. I had to manually, and individually, bounce each track separately, which was very time-consuming. A clue, though….. I tried exporting the tracks one at a time. So, the first one was, say, piccolo rips. It did that fine . The second track was Alto flute runs, but when I came to export, Logic seemed to think it was still the piccolo rips! This implies that the reason why I'm experiencing reduced export files is because Logic is thinking that many of the tracks are actually duplicates, so it's stopping them from being exported. That's the only explanation I have. However, I don't have the answer to the reason for this. I'm running the latest version of Logic.
Has anyone clue as to why this has suddenly started to happen and how it can be fixed please? I'm thinking I might just trash the Logic app and reinstall.
    Many thanks for any help.

First of all you are welcome...
I have to say... I suspect something has changed even if you are not directly aware of it.... between the time it did work and now that it doesn't for you... Be it for example... an update to a plugin you are using.. or even a new/different plugin you are using now that you didn't use before...
I checked with one of my clients a few minutes ago, who does regular, several times a week, large project stem exports to see if he has ever had or heard of such an issue ( in case it one of those odd bugs that only rears its head every now and again..) and the answer was no, not at all...
So all I can recommend is to create some testbed projects.. using different combinations of Plugins, creation of tracks methods.. templates etc.. until you uncover the root cause of the issue... because i suspect it may well be something unique to your system, config or work method that is causing this problem..
You might also want to check with the guys at
    http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/index.php
..and see if David, Jordi, Eric or one of the other regulars there, have ever come across such a problem.. I did a quick cursory search there and found nothing at all  but it was a very quick look/see type of search...
Maybe CCT, Pancenter... or Edgar here.. might have an idea or two, too...
Finally,  Can you also state your current OS X / Logic version please...
    Cheers..

  • Exporting all tracks as MONO files

    Hi guys,
So I've been using the wonderful 'Export All Tracks As Audio Files' feature, which is great, but I've found they seem to always bounce out as stereo files.
How do I get them to bounce out as mono? The magority of them are, so don't really want them to be 'made' into stereo files.
    Any ideas?

    Of course!
    Here's the Arrange:
    Here's the mixer (part one)
    mixer (part two)
The tracks were initially going into AUX tracks in various ways, but as I didn't want all the processing etc (just specific inserts I included on some tracks), I sent all tracks to the main outputs...

  • Why does Logic Pro 9 add 0.3s silence at start of all my tracks when I "export all tracks as audio files"?

OK - when I "export all tracks as audio files" it works fine - I get a load of exported tracks (annoyingly with the stupid "_bip" prefix at the end).
But I find that they all have about 0.3s silence inserted at the start. WHY??!!!
I checked, and on the timeline all the tracks start with their first note at the beginning of the track so there is no silence in the arrangement. But still this silence on export.
This Logic feature is so badly designed - why can't it do the simplest things as expected.

Thank you I will look into plug-in latency compensation. However, there is no latency or need for latency compensation when outputting offline files in this way. Latency compensation is for live playback where real-time processing matters. So this is flawed software design, hence my comments about it being illogical.
"there is no latency or need for latency compensation when outputting offline files.....etc"
You don't fully understand how Logic's audio engine and buffering scheme works... not that anyone fully does except the programmers. Basically your above statement is incorrect, as some plugins have built-in-latency and others don't, but that's not the complete picture. The problem is a combination of a plugin's built-in-latency and how Logic buffers data. Logic deactivates the audio engine when stopped, all plugins and software instruments become deactivated including the ability to load or purge data buffers with the exception of a software instrument or audio track that is selected for "live" input.
(Look up Plug-in-Latency Compensation in the manual for a full explation of the choices available)
I won't disagree with you about the software design, however, rather than flawed I tend to think of it as antiquated. The positive side of this is extremely low processor use and the ability to design templates with all plugins and software instruments loaded and ready to start a new project. The downside most Logic users are familiar with...  unexpected overloads in the middle of a project when a approaching a region that makes use of processor intensive plugins, Loops that don't match up perfectly when starting a project from bar 1 and/or missing notes at the beginning of MIDI loop if starting at bar 1.... plus a half dozen other anomalies related to Logic's "efficient" audio engine. The efficiency concept made sense back when computers didn't have enough power to handle active or semi-active plugins, seems it causes more problems than not these days.

  • Exporting R3 tables into Flat Files for BPC

    Dear BPC experts,
I understand currently the way for BPC to extract data from R3 is via flat files. I have the following queries:
    1) What exactly are the T codes and steps required to export R3 tables into flat files (without going through the OpenHub in BI7)? Can this process be automated?
    2) Is Data Manager of BPC equivalent to SSIS (Integration Services) of SQL Server?
    Please advise. Thanks!!

    Hi Soong Jeng,
I would take a look at the existing BI Extractors for the answer to Q1, I am working on finishing up a HTG regarding this. Look for it very soon.
Here is the code to dump out data from a BI Extractor directly from ERP.
You need dev permissions in your ERP system and access to an app server folder. ...Good Luck

  • Export all tracks as audio files

    Hi all,
I need to export all my tracks as audio files, and i need them to all be the same length, i set a loop brace from the first bar to bar 233, but when i choose export all tracks as audio files, some tracks are coming out at say 4m06, some are 5m30 etc.
I would like to just export all tracks and have them the same length - i.e the full song length. Is this possible?
The only way i've found at the moment is to bounce each track one at a time, but this is going to take ages lol!
(i did try putting a blank midi file or audio file at the very end of every track to make logic think it needs to export all channels right to the end, but this still didn't work)
any ideas or help would really be appreciated,
    Thanks

This is just the way the export feature works. Once there is no more audible audio data, or MIDI information, the exported audio region ends.
Is there a particular reason you need every region to go to the end marker, even if no audio or MIDI information is contained to that point?
This actually saves you hard drive space, by not creating audio files bigger than necessary.

Does "Export all tracks as audio files" output HyperDraw volume changes?
    Thanks

I'm pretty sure it just collates all the Regions on each Track to give one file per Track. This would imply that automation would not be included.
To be certain, you could make up a quick Project with one Region & an automated fade, & see what happens; but I would bet you just get the audio, not the automation.

  • 10.7.3 and 9.1.6 exporting all tracks as audio files broken?

    Hi all,
Is anyone else experiencing the loss of function with export all tracks as audio files in logic 9.1.6 on 10.7.3?
When I select the function, nothing happens, as in im waiting for a prompt screen to appear but nothing, no beachball, no beeps or error messages.
I should note I am using folders, and even when they are resized to start at 1 it still does not work, I have tried different songs and re-installed logic.
any info on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks

In addition to the flex algorithms being disappointingly substandard in overall tc quality, flex tracks glitch constantly--especially if there are tempo changes or crossfades. You may be able to freeze them first and then export. AlternAtively, you could try tmelocking them and then using an alternate tempo map with a single tempo, then switching back after you flex tracks are bounced.

  • Glitches, clicks, and pops when exporting all tracks as audio files

It's getting to crunch time, and Logic 9 has been giving me a very hard time. It's now time to export my edited tracks as mono audio files to send to a mixing engineer. I thought mono files would be a button press away. Not so.
    *Background on Project*:
    – Started in Logic 8, and was continued in Logic 9
    – Contains only audio that was recorded using Logic
    – Has take folders with Quick Swipe Comps
    – Has flexed regions
    – Has take folders with flexed regions in them
    – Has been manually beat mapped
    Steps:
    1) Set each fader, on every track, to unity gain and centre panning.
    2) File > Export > All Tracks as Audio Files
    3) Select AIFF, 24-bit, bypass effect plug-ins, and include volume/pan automation, normalize off.
    *Expected Outcome*:
I expect mono/stereo files of all of my unprocessed tracks, bounced in place with fades, flexing, and quick swipe comps applied.
    *Actual Outcome*:
I get mono/stereo files with clicks, pops, and scrambled sections scattered throughout the files, within fades, and at quick swipe comping boundaries. Retrying the export may result in clicks, pops, and scrambled sections in different places.
    Workaround:
While the glitching in fades and at comp boundaries seems to happen in offline bounces, it rarely happens when playing the song in realtime. Unfortunately, there's no realtime option when you "export all tracks as audio files." *My workaround is to export the tracks one at a time by bouncing the project in realtime with the desired track soloed*.
This is excruciatingly slow. To speed things up, I've taken to soloing six tracks at a time, assigning all of them to the surround output, and panning each track exclusively to a different surround channel. This way, I can do a split file surround bounce and get six mono files, each with the contents of a different track. If your audio interface does not support 6 outputs, then you'll need to download SoundFlower and use their virtual 16 channel output.

  • Export batch data into CSV file using SQL SP

    Hi,
I have created WCF-Custom receive adapter to poll Sql SP (WITH xmlnamespaces(DEFAULT 'Namespace' and For XML PATH(''), Type) . Get the result properly in batch while polling and but getting error while converting into CSV by using map.
Please can anyone give me some idea to export SQL data into CSV file using SP.

    How are you doing this.
You would have got XML representation for the XML batch received from SQL
You should have a flat-file schema representing the CSV file which you want to send.
Map the received XML representation of data from SQL to flat-file schema
have custom pipeline with flat-file assembler on the assembler stage of the send pipeline.
In the send port use the map which convert received XML from SQL to flat file schema and use the above custom flat-file disassembler send port

  • How to "Export All Tracks as Audio Files" in Pro Tools?

I have a Pro Tools session that I want to mix in Logic. So I need to bounce all tracks as audio files like Logic's "Export All Tracks as Audio Files" command. Does anyone know if this is possible in PT, or do I need to bounce one track at a time (in realtime!)?

Sorry, but the previous answers are not quite correct. Consolidate tracks will only merge all your edits and fades and make a new audio file out of it. It wont consolidate any automation or insert effects. The same is true for exporting audio from the regions pane. Therefore you still have to perform a "bounce to disk" in order to consolidate properly. So no it doesn't have the "Export All Tracks as Audio Files" option......
    Christian,
When "exporting" from one DAW to another, it's generally understood that automation and plug-ins will not be included.
Exporting from Pro Tools does indeed bounce the files to disk. We aren't talking about a stereo mix here. We're talking about exporting all the individual tracks. Are have I misunderstood you?
.... which leads me on to this question. How long has logic had the "Export All..." function as I have been performing "track lays" (i.e. getting my logic stuff ready for a pro-tools mix) for films that can often take days to perform and am embarrassed to stumble across this option on this forum as I fear I may have cost myself several weeks of my life working the long way round!!!
"Export All tracks as Audio Files" was introduced in version 7.0.
Don't feel too ashamed though. I have a good friend, who has been using Logic daily as long as I have (8 years or so now), who only 3 months ago, saw me utilizing that feature, and his jaw dropped. He too, had been wasting "weeks" of his life, doing it the way you have been doing it. : )
You're gonna absolutely LOVE using that feature from this day forward...!

  • Logic 10.1 won't give me the option to 'export all tracks as audio files'. Why is this?

I need to send an important session today but when i go to file>export>all tracks as audio files, the option doesn't appear. I searched the help bar and did my own research on the internet but i couldn't get any answers. Is anyone else experiencing this problem or knows another solution to export all tracks as audio files?

You aren't running in Garageband mode are you?  Do you have ALL of the Logic Preferences/Advanced  enabled?

  • Export all sequences into one quicktime?

    I'm sure it's something silly I'm overlooking...but I'll ask nonetheless.
I have 6 sequences, each of varying length. How do I "join" all the sequences for an export to a single movie file? Surely I can't be stuck exporting each in turn. Otherwise, how will I be able to create a quicktime rough for importing into Sound Track and subsequent scoring?

thanks so much, Tom - that did the trick after a bit of confusion over what can be dragged and dropped. I didn't realize I could drag and drop the individual sequences into the timeline of a new sequence. I was trying to drag the sequences into the icon for a new sequence in the browser.
Love your FCE book BTW - you must never get tired of hearing that!
