Export all photos

Hello.
I'm have a few problems exporting my entire iphoto database. I am setting up Lightroom to be my organizer of choice and am trying to get all my photos into LR3. I have over 16,000 photos in iPhoto but have probably 1,000 photos where the originals cannot be found and I get an alert window when trying to export. (Some time ago, I moved these files and renamed them in Bridge.)
I selected the entire library and said export, however I have to select every one of the "alert" windows and tell it to cancel (~1000 times ... and I've done this twice) before I can even begin my export. The first time I was able to see the export to path, the location could not be created. The second time iPhoto finally started exporting and crashed at about 1000 photos.
I also tried to use a Phil's Missing photo script to clean out the "alert"/original file issue but didn't have much luck or it didn't fix my "alert" messages at all.
I would like to get all of my pictures out from iPhoto as painlessly as possible. I have keyworded some of them, but at this point, don't care if my keywords are lost.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

iPhoto can't export files that it can't find, and you've moved and/or renamed them.
If you're leaving iPhoto entirely, then the easiest thing is to simply recover the files from the Library:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Originals'.
Your Photos are inside.

  • Is there a way to export all photos in a event with modified names?

    Hi
I want to export all my photos withing a event, but i want to see the modified photos, names and original dates so i can re import them in another library, possible?

Select the pics in the Iphoto window and go file - export. In the resulting dialogue tick the boxes at titles and descriptions and places to write all the
metadata to the files. It will then be there when you import to the other library.
Alternatively use iphoto library manager for the job

  • Is it possible (if so: how) to store an i-Photo file (with an average of 50 photos per file) onto a USB-stick, in a way that the file with the heading (e.i.'holidays' or 'work') remains in tact? If I click 'export' all photos are stored separately. Thanks

I am trying to store I-Photo files onto a USB-stick, keeping the file (with an average of 50 photos) in tact. Is this possible and if so: how, please? I have tried clicking on 'export' and then click on the name of the USB-stick. But by doing this all photos seem to be stored separately, under their image number - and not under the file name. Which makes it near impossible to easily refind the photos on the USB-stick.
    Thanks for advice

    Dear Alex,
If I understand correct your post you are confused with difference of loading procedure between real smartcard and SDK simulation. It is a fact that simulation uses its own loader application and smartcards usually use GlobalPlatform card manager application. To load CAP file to the GP compliant card it is necessary to use sequence of commands such as INSTALL(load),LOAD,INSTALL(install+make_selectable). I do not know any specific java API to perform this loading with any reader. But there are few software programs from various card producers. This software is usually distributes toghether with smartcards.

  • Aperture won't export all photos to Mail

Most of the time, Aperture won't export all my chosen photos to Mail. If I chose 8 photos, it may only export 4 of them and no matter what I do, nothing changes. Tried it on Entourage and it was exactly the same. Size is not the issue, I'm sending them in small sizes and the total attachment is about 1 MB. Anyone had this issue and know what to do? I do have NIK plug ins installed if that helps any.

I would suggest you do a library repair to see if that clears it up.

  • LR 3.3 Does not Export All Photos

I have just recently started working with 3.3, and so far this has happened every time.
I import some photos, all jpgs, usually about 35-100 photos at a time. I do my keywording etc., and then try to export all of the photos to a separate folder. However, only 10-12 photos export. LR says that it's working, and I can see the number of photos going up on the folder I sent it to, but then it just stops and says that it's done. If I go into the Finder on my Mac, I can see that all of the photos have exported, they're just not showing up in LR.
My workaround for this has been to close LR, then re-open it and Import. Then those photos show up and I can import them into the catalog.
I'm assuming this is a bug? Anyone else having this problem? I'm still able to work with this workaround I'm using, but it's really annoying and causes extra steps.

LR shows only those images that are in the catalog.
If you want to see exported images in LR you have to tell LR to add them to the catalog.
You do this by checking the box "Add to this catalog" in the Export dialog.

  • Problems exporting all photos

    Hi,
I am trying to export all (4000) photos to an external HD to backup and it gets so far and then will say it can't because a certain photo is being used. The photo isn't being used for anything. I even trash the photo it says and then it will pick another one the next try.
    thanks in advance

Are you exporting the photos or copying your library to the external HD? If it's the latterdownload and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name in the owner section and Staff in the group section. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. Now try copying again.
If it's the former are you exporting all of the image files to a single folder? If so it may be a duplicate file name issue. That's not so easily solved. You will have to add new titles to the photos and export with the option to use the title instead of the original file name.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How to export all photos to SD card

How do I get all photos to an SD card from iMac?

Another method if you just want the oriiginal files is to open your library with the Finder as shown below
and drag the Masters folder onto the mounted SD card.  That will put all of the original photos in your library on the card in folders representing the Events they were in in iPhoto.
Do not move the Masters folder out of the library, just drag it onto the mounted SD card so it's only copied to the card.

  • How can I export ALL photos to a new external HD if I have Aperture "Managing" my library (hundreds of projects,1.6TB of photos)?

I Originally setup Aperture years ago to "Manage" my huge amount of photos to save space and be more convenient. I have bought a new external HD and want to export my entire original files from all the different projects and sub projects from the one "Organized Managed" file to individual original photo files on the new HD. I know how to export a project or even a few at a time but what about 1.5TB of photos in RAW/NEF format? Thanks for the help my fellow Apple lovers.

Aperture makes it easy to move any Image's Originals from inside the Library to outside the Library, and from any directly-connected location outside the Library to another directly-connected location, and to move any Image's Original from outside the Library to inside the Library, at any time, singly or in batch.
Select the Photos container near the top of the Library Inspector.  In the Browser, select all Images.  Use "File ▹ Relocate Original", and select a destination and a Finder folder scheme.  Moving 1.5 TB of files will take some time.  Let it run.

  • I need to know how to download all photos AND videos from 2 "libraries" within Adobe Revel. Please help.

I was quite angered last night when I posted the first time, so lets try this again:
Here is my setup:  I have adobe Revel on my Mac and iOS devices and it has worked quite well to be honest until I recently realized my photos and videos are basically trapped within the software. There is no way (that I am aware) to export all photos/videos or any kind of tool to pull the raw data out of the app and put it into say iPhoto or Lightroom.
Since I am not a fan of this sort of lock-in, (something I despise and encourage companies never to do), I am sadly going to cancel my Revel account once I get this sorted and store my photos elsewhere. This is a huge missed opportunity for Adobe, as the money is not an issue - its simply that the quality of service I need just doesn't seem to be there for this product.
So here is what I am trying to achieve:  I simply want every one of my photos and videos to store on my hard drive like the old days.  I don't care about folders or hirarcy or any kind of organization - I can do that with the metadata later. I simply want all of my things.
My hang up is in that I have already tried methods like "Show package contents" in the photos/adobe revel route and that works to an extent, but is incredibly cumbersome as I have to sift through all of the many folders.  If that were the worst of it, I might be ok.  But what is truly alarming and making this difficult is that I don't know where on earth the videos in Revel are actually stored.  They show up in the application and I could export them one by one but I literally have hundreds.  I can't find the actual files on my Mac anywhere.
Is there anyone at all who can help with this?  The goal is to make this transition fairly easy and I feel that Adobe has very intentionally made it very difficult to consider leaving. I spend >$50/month on Adobe services and I am a little in shock this application seems so poorly designed for anything other than just dropping your photos into it.  Please, please help if you can.  I would be so grateful as Adobe customer service doesn't seem to know or care much about supporting this product.

    Hi KDT
Yeah. I agree, if you are used to a situation where "it's on the cloud AND synced down to your hard disk where you can get it" Revel is not exactly that. There were legacy decisions behind that - most not as sinister as you might think but I won't bore you with those details.  AND yes you are correct. We currently don't have any way for you to wholesale download everything at once. So you aren't missing anything. Until we provide that mechanism I can provide some guidance.
I'm going to assume you have the current version of Revel on your Mac which is 2.0.
The easiest thing for you to do will be to export your files manually. You can actually select a range of files and export. So it's not a one by one thing.
You'll have to decide how best to perform the selection based on your photography habits. If you tend to take batches of files surrounding specific dates. You could do it by date. In the date view (In the applications upper right "Showing: Dates"). If you look at the end of a date row you'll see a small grid. If you click that grid you are taking into a grid view of just that date. If you select all and file>export you'll export the contents of that date.
The other option is remaining in Grid view (In the applications upper right "Showing:Grid") and perform a shift+selection where you select your first file, move down the desired range and while holding shift you select a second file (standard multi-select stuff).
One thing to keep in mind as you do this. You'll notice when you export you can export original or 'current version'. Export original does just that. Exports unedited original versions of your images as they were uploaded to us. When you export the current version of an image we'll export a rendition of the edited image. This "current version" image is not the original and in most cases will be a rendition that is not the same size as the original. So keep that in mind as you proceed.
Not ideal, I fully realize, but I do hope it gets you closer to having your images back on your hard disk as you desire.
As for your subscription. Assure you have checked your iOS Appstore subscription settings and set Revel to not auto-renew. Unfortunately for a pro-rated refund on the subscription balance you no longer desire you'll need to work with Apple as they hold the purse strings for Appstore purchases. Refunds haven't been a problem in the past so you should have no issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to export all edited photos in a project

Once I finish editing photos in a project I often wish to export all of those photos, in their fnal edited form, to a folder which I then burn to a CD and give to someone.  I have been using File-Export-Versions thinking that this would do the trick.  However, it seems that this process exports the photo without all of my nifty editing.  I've looke at the manual, but must be too dense to find the answer.  Thanks for any help you can give.

What you are doing should work.
Here is a recipe -- try it and report back.
    Select the Project.
    Clear all filters.
Filter using the Rule "Adjustments" with the setting "are applied".
Add other Rules as desired (e.g.: Rating is 4★ or better).
    Select all Images.
"File→Export→Version", and choose an Export Preset that meets your needs.
Masters are the un-changed (and never changed by Aperture) original files that you imported.  Versions are Images that you have made by changing these in some way.  Exporting a Version should always include any Adjustments present in the Version.

  • How to export ALL my GPS data with photos?

    Hi,
I hope you can help me save a lot of time.
For various reasons I have abandoned Aperture 3 in favour of Lightroom 5, and as part of the process (severl months ago) I exported all my 30,000 photos out of my aperture library along with sidecar files so that I would be able to keep my metadata. All but a few gopro phots are geotagged, however I have now discovered that for 14,000 of these images no GPS data was included in the sidecar file.
As far as I have been able to research I have two options. First to re-build the library by re-exporting the files, merge this with my current Lightroom library and hope I don't get any duplicates. Or, secondly, re-tag the 14,000 photos manually or from the GPX files I still have hanging around.
What I really would like to know is if there is a 3rd option?
What would be nice is a way to export only the GPS data and time stamps for all 30,000 and then use that as a track in Lightroom...is that possible?
    Thanks for any help

I'm not aware of a way to do that from Aperture but it should be possible to script that ability.
Just run through all the images and have the script output the EXIF data you want. Not to difficult if you have any  Applescript experience. If not I'm afraid you will need to resort to your other options.

  • How do I export all the photos I imported back to their original folder

How do I export all the photos I imported back to their original folder just as they were, they haven't been modified, adjusted etc. I imported them by mistake.

You don't need to worry. You won't lose photos when the 30 day trial expires.
Lr is different than other photo editing software in that it works with a data base (called the "catalog"). Lr does not write anything into the image pixels but stores everything that you do in Lr into its catalog (=data base). That way, when the trial expires your images will still be there, but - since you cannot access the Lr catalog anymore - your photos will be in the state they were before you imported them into Lr.
When you work with Lr you have to really understand the concept of the "catalog", if you don't you will come into very frustrating situations. The concept of "catalog" involves above all that you need to think of your images based on two different files that are in different locations on your computer. One is your image file (Raw, JPG, TIFF) and the other is the data entry written for this image into the Lr catalog. Lr constantly updates this catalog (without you having to hit <save>) and constantly combines the image file with the data from the catalog. From this follows the demand that you take care of the Lr catalog as much as you take care for your image files - by knowing where they are located on your computer and by doing regular backups.
Would it be worth the investment? In my opinion definitively "yes"! I work with Lr since version 1 on a daily basis and would not want to miss it. Lr gives you superior image editing possibilities (in the Develop Module) but - as already said - is also a superb image management tool. Lr will keep track of all of your images irrespective if they are on internal or external hard drives. With Lr you have all of your images available all the time.
But Lr has also a steep learning curve. You cannot just jump in and do things because you'd create havoc and become frustrated. There are excellent books but for starters I would recommend that you watch the video tutorials on Adobe's website. You learn from them easily because you see on your screen what the instructor does, where he clicks, where the different tools are, etc.

If you decide to buy, you can do so on Adobe's website. You will then be e-mailed a serial # that will unlock your trial version for indefinite time.

  • When exporting a photo to photo library, all EXIF data is lost. What rational is behind this?

When exporting a photo to photo library, all EXIF data is lost.
    What rational is behind this?

Thanks for your reply on this!
One issue seems to be with Foto Library app itself. When running an auto-correct there it looks like EXIF will be stripped more or less completely.
Second issue is in iPhoto app on iOS when working on RAW. When exporting to the roll the EXIF is modified in a way. It was keeping most of the EXIF in case of Canon 5D MKII that I tested today, but the EXIF data is definately changed, e.g. lens type is different because maybe some fields are ignored there. Also the images are silently scaled down by 50% which is kind of annoying.
The initial problem was observed with a Pentax K7 and I will need to reproduce the issue in this config I assume. Maybe tomorrow I can do this.

  • LR5- it takes me forever to export 700 photos as jpegs (literally all day)... What is wrong?

I upgraded to LR5 a while back and it now takes me forever to export 700 photos as jpegs (literally all day and sometimes two different days coming back to the computer over and over)... What is wrong?  I still have LR3 on the computer just because I am unsure how to uninstall it.  Could this be the cause?  I have had to make clients wait an extra day several times now for their proofs.  I am pretty desperate!  Help?

Well, the answer to this problem depends on many things, none of which you mentioned
    CPU on your computer
    amount of computer memory
type of original file, RAW, TIF, PSD or JPG
size of original photos (in pixels, width and height, not in megabytes)
size of exports (in pixels, width and height, not in megabytes)
    disk space that is free
It has nothing to do with LR3 being on the same computer.
