Export ALL settings?

hello all-
i have been having some issues with Server 10.6.5 and am going to do a 7 pass erase on one of the xServe drives and do a fresh install of OS X Server. my question is, is there a way i can get all my settings to print out so when i do this fresh install i have them?
i set this server up awhile ago and don't remember a lot of the stuff. i am hoping i can just make a cheat sheet and have everything up and running quickly and smoothly on the fresh install. all help is greatly appreciated....

sorry for not clarifying: i am using a new disk. it isn;t that the old disk was failing, it's just that i wasn;t able to delete users and just some generally very strange and very aggravating "things" going on. that is why i asked if there is a way to export the settings and enter them on the new/fresh install.
i am hesitant to use a disk image for fear of some corruption of some sort happening thereby negating my efforts to do a FRESH and CLEAN install. this is an OS X Server system that has been upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5 and now to 10.6. i am sure there has been some corruption of files along the way and just some general "gremlins" getting in from all the upgrades and changes. that is why i am not really so upset about doing the fresh install b/c things have been pretty good for awhile now.
as i said, i prefer NOT to get the data for the new install from a disk image for fear of one or two gremlins getting in. i was hoping that i could just print out all the settings and just enter them on the new install. i appreciate all the help. if i don;t get some info before this weekend it looks like it's SnapzPro although i'd prefer just a text printout of the settings....
thx.

  • Exporting all settings for Outlook Desktop so that they can be imported into Outlook

    Hi there,
I was wondering whether all settings for Outlook Desktop can be exported so that they can be imported into Outlook i.e. .psts, .osts, .pabs, .oabs, .dats, .xmls, .nk2s, .rwzs, .rtfs, .txts, .htms, .dics, .ofts, .srss and .msgs. My Managing Director's Wife is
unsubscribing from Office 365 in order to use Office Professional 2013 I presume or 2010 perhaps. Your help would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    RocknRollTim
P.S. I was redirected by a user off the Office 365 Community Forum.

    Hi,
As per the information and details provided by you, in Outlook, there is not any way to backup Outlook account setting because in all Outlook versions the account settings are kept inside the window registry under this key:
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles
So if you want to create backup of your Outlook account setting, you should have to export that key from your registry and then import it to your new computer.
To backup Outlook Account setting follow these steps: -
    1. First, go to the Start menu and then at the Run box, type regedit and press Enter.
    2. Under the registry editor right click to Export the Profiles key found inside this location in the registry:
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\
    • e.g: “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles”
    3. In Outlook 2013 right click to Export the Profile key found under this location in the registry:
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\
    • e.g: “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Profiles key”
    4. Specify the Destination Location and File Name then press Save.
Correct me if the information that I am having is wrong. I hope this will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

I wonder how can I export actions, settings etc and what are the steps after the fresh installation in order to get the same "view" and settings I'm uses to.

    Hi,
Yes, I did try to copy thses folders, the last time I tried it and simply replacing the ones created with the new installation, with the old ones, did not change anything. I might gotten it wrong, but that's what happened.

  • I am reformatting and rebuilding my Win 7 computer.  How do I export all the settings from iTunes so I can import them into my new install?

I need to rebuild my computer which has iTunes synced with my iPhone and iPad.  How do I export all the settings from iTunes so I can import them into the new install and not have to go through all the setup again?  My music library is my own and on a NAS drive so not going to lose it.  I am mainly concerned about setup parameters.  Thank you for any assistance.

    There's nothing to export.
The iTunesLibrary.itl file contains all the settings, playlists, and playcounts.
Copy or backup all your important files including the ENTIRE iTunes folder, then restore all your data including the ENTIRE iTunes folder once the system is formatted and rebuilt/reloaded.

  • Is there a way to export workspace settings?

The problem is, I work with a two-monitor setup. One is the actual working area with a painstakingly constructed layout of panels, the other one has a synchronized window with a full-screen Preview. Every once in a while I accidentally close the working area window, and because Bridge only saves a "current state" in workspaces, my painstakingly crafted window is just gone, poof (sound effect, not slang).
I know I can save a duplicate working space. That makes it somewhat easier, but I still have to delete the botched working space and create it again as a copy of the duplicate. This, coupled with the fact that the first stage of any troubleshooting on Bridge is to nuke all settings, makes me a bit uneasy with the solution.
I would be very grateful if someone knew of a way to export workspace settings so I could just load them back in when I mess up or Bridge does.

Would you mind disclosing the resolution of your 30" monitor in terms of pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high) ?  I'm just curious to see how such a large monitor compares to my two side-by-side 22" monitors.
    Hallo mr de Gokker!
Nice to see you also here
The resolution I use with my 30 " is the default one and set to 2560 x 1600 pixels
If I can take a little 'gamble' I assume the total pixel amount of 2 x 22" will be more, but I never could get used on the two monitor set up. I just like my tools to be close to the image I work on, and using the pen tool with a lot of Brushing and switching to different layers and combine this with action pallet in button mode that needs also a lot of pressing it would be to often en to much distance to travel for my hand, but that's just personal.

  • Exporting Bridge Settings on Network

Greetings fellow Bridge users, I would like to manage my visual assets through Bridge. I have created several image folders and added keywords to each image, all of which live on a network. I would like to export these settings so that my coworker can also search the same assets (on the network) on their computer, using the same keywords without having to tag them all over again on his computer. Seems like there should be some kind of settings I could export in order to do this. We are talking about 3,000 images so if I have to retag them then I'll have to look into a different solution to manage my library at work. Any help you may have to offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Bridge is just a file browser, by no means a robust DAM (digital asset manager).  Its performance in a network environment is iffy.
Please see this very recent thread here:
Is there a stand alone version of Bridge and whats the cost per license?

  • Exporting all sequences in a project

    Hey all,
I have several dozen sequences, some short in length and others long. I need to export all of them, but in order to save time, is there a shortcut or something alike to command premiere to send all sequences to adobe media encoder?
    Thanks for the help yall!
    Hardware Specs:
    Windows 8 Pro (64-bit)
    HP Pavilion h8-1230z
    AMD-FX8150 3.59Ghz 8 core processesor
    16GB RAM
    600W PS
    EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 550Ti
    Software Specs:
    (Adobe Production Suite CS6)
    Premiere Pro CS6 6.0.3

The actual sending to AME will have to be one at a time.  But once you set up the Export Settings dialog, it should stay at those same settings so all you have to do is hit Queue for each successive sequence.

  • Problems exporting all photos

    Hi,
I am trying to export all (4000) photos to an external HD to backup and it gets so far and then will say it can't because a certain photo is being used. The photo isn't being used for anything. I even trash the photo it says and then it will pick another one the next try.
    thanks in advance

Are you exporting the photos or copying your library to the external HD? If it's the latterdownload and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name in the owner section and Staff in the group section. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. Now try copying again.
If it's the former are you exporting all of the image files to a single folder? If so it may be a duplicate file name issue. That's not so easily solved. You will have to add new titles to the photos and export with the option to use the title instead of the original file name.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Best export format settings for mac

    Hi,
I have a mac OS Lion 10.7.2 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. I'm new to premiere pro and video editions and have just finished my family's vacation video clip edition, that contains photos and videos.
I have tried several export format settings, but the only satisfying one was MPEG2-DVD with preset "Match Source Attributes (Highest Quality)". The problem was that it seems to be specific for DVD, that's why it was generated two separated files, a m2v for video and a wav for audio.
I would like to play it on my mac and I couldn't do it with the players I have installed: QuicK Time didn't run it and VLC ran without audio.
    I have 4 questions:
Is there a player that can play both video and audio? Or is it just for DVD purpose?
If not, what would be the best export format settings to have a HD 720p video with best quality? All the other settings produced very low quality videos, even in very huge size! I have tried flv, mpeg, mov...
Do I need any specific codec for it?
I have already installed perian codec. Wouldn't it be possible to export for AVI format? Why doesn't it show on my format options?
I have searched many forums and didn't find the solution yet!
    Does anybody have any suggestion?
    Thanks a lot, Guilherme

    Hello guys,
I've created another sequence to build my video. Now I am using a AVCHD 1080p30. My video contains photos and videos. The videos are 720p, but my pictures have very high resolution, 3968x2232. I won't edit them because there are lot of pictures. So, my question is: What would be the best format for this sequence? mp4? mpg? mpeg? mov? I thought that they are very similar! Are there big quality differences between them? Size is not a problem, but if the formats don't make big differences on the final product, the smaller one could be sufficient?
    Any tips?

  • Context between Export Bitrate Settings and Camera Bitrate?

    Hi all
Is there a context between the PPro 6 export bitrate settings for H.264 blu ray and the camera bitrate e.g. 17Mbps? I read that to high values in the export settings e.g. 25 Mbps target and 30 Mbps max. can degrade the image quality due to recalculation.
    Thanks for your appreciated help.
    Rene

The video capture defines how much real image information you have. Transcoding to a higher bit rate won't give you any more image information than what you started with. It will give you more data, but not more information. And those aren't interchangeable concepts.
My thought is that you just want to encode such that you don't actually loose any of that image information that you captured. You could probably use a max bit rate of 17Mbps if that's the max your camera recorded. It's easy enough to encode some disks (iterative trials are what BD-RE disks are really good for IMHO) at various levels and try them out, see what you think. You'll problaby end up where Jeff is -- encode a little higher than the original capture just to be sure. I do that too. ;-)

  • Dreamweaver MX on new computer-can I easily move all settings/files?

I'm not all that technical, but I have just installed my dreamweaver mx on a new computer (because the old one now only works in safe mode) and I'm wondering if it's possible to move all of the Dreamweaver MX settings/files/history from the old computer to the new one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My tech guy moved the file folder with all of the Dreamweaver files - but obviously my Dreamweaver software still looks empty...

Start up the old computer.  Start DW.  Open Site Manager.  EXPORT all of your site definitions including the FTP information to some KNOWN location.  Copy those to the new computer.  Start DW and then the Site Manager on the new computer.  IMPORT the site definitions you just exported.  That'll get you the FTP and site information.
Then run to the Adobe updater site, and update your DMX 6.0 to DMX 6.1 if you haven't already.
    You're all set now.

  • Why does "itunes accounts" use data with all settings OFF?

Does anyone know how to keep "iTunes accounts" under system from using cellular data?
    I have already:
    1. Toggled OFF all settings in the "Use cellular data for" menu.
    2. Turned OFF all automatic downloads and any other options under iTunes/app store settings.
    3. Turned OFF Background App refresh.
    4. Turned OFF all options under iCloud sync menu.
Right now, the only thing that keeps "iTunes accounts" from pulling cellular data is turning Cellular Data completely OFF, but I don't want to do this because I lose some messaging and voicemail functions and I need to be able to use Find My Phone. I have two identical iPhone 5c's on this account. One is running iOs 8.1.2 and the above settings control it's data usage nicely. The other phone is running iOs 8.1.3 and this one uses 50-100 mb a day even with all the above settings off and the phone almost always on wifi.
I am aware that the phone will lose it's wifi connection when asleep, but that shouldn't be a problem if all the apps/settings are already set not to use cellular data. What am I missing. I've read a bunch of threads on this issue and they all suggest settings I already have OFF.

My personal phone is on 8.1.2. My daughter's phone is 8.1.3.
It is her phone that is currently having this problem, but I reported it under my account; sorry for the confusion.
My phone has had some data problems in the past, but I have been able to control them by keeping almost all data options OFF and the overall switch ON. My usage is back to less than 50 mb per month which makes sense since my phone is almost always on wifi and I don't use data dense applications.
Everything about my daughter's phone is the same as mine except for the 8.1.3 upgrade. She does use things like Instagram more than I do, but I have them all set to not use Cellular Data and the option to change these settings is locked. When I look at the usage on her phone, it isn't her apps that are pulling unexpected data; it's "iTunes accounts" under system services. All the options under iTunes/App Store (auto downloads, home sharing, etc.) and all the iCloud options are already OFF.
