Export always go to 4x3

I have HDV footage, my project settings are for that type of footage. It all looks right in editing but no matter how I export, either export movie or built in encoder, I get a squished 4x3 image. I have tried literally every setting there is.
If I do a straight 16 x 9 export, then take that file to sorenson squeeze I can get it back to widescreen proportions but I can't export a full res movie in the orginal format without it getting disorted to 4x3.
. What is going on here?

I open the exported .mov in the quicktime player on my computer. If I bring that exported movie into Encore and make a DVD it looks fine. If I bring it into Sorenson Squeeze to make an flv, I choose 16x9 and that seems to fix the problem. The problem comes when I take that exported movie and upload to vimeo, which is how many of my projects are being used right now. It seems that Sorenson, or Encore are fixing the problem but vimeo is just taking what I give it. It I see a squished 4x3 in the exported .mov played right in the computer, that's probably how it actually is. (I think)
To add another wrinkle, I get a thin black border on the sides, as if it's not the full width but only 98%.
Something I'm not clear on. In choosing export settings, I select NTSC widescreen 16x9 but the numbers still say 720 x 480. Shouldn't they change proportionally?
Thanks for the help by the way, this is a real problem with my client right now that I HAVE to solve.

  • Playback glitch on export always at same TC

Premiere CS5.5 appears to be causing a glitch/stutter at the same spot consistently. I've trashed the renders and re-rendered, I've un-nested the sequence and re-rendered + recompressed, I've exported to MPEG2 via Pr and via dynamic link using Media Encoder and I still can't overcome this error. I've checked the source footage and the glitch is not present there (source foorage was a tape capture).  All source files are transcoded to DV 29;97 NTSC 4:3 QT files.
The glitch itself is similar to a playback stutter but only at one specific point and always at that point. This glitch is also present on the SD DVD created in Encore. That's how I first noticed the error.
The timeline itself is almost 2 hours; I can export a shorter section around the glitch and that encodes without errors but I don't understand why encoding the entire timeline causes this reoccurring glitch/error.
I'm running production CS 5.5.1 (updated to current version), on a Win7 SP1 64-bit box, 16GB ram. Mercury Playback Engine is disabled since my card doesn't support it.
Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated. I've spent the last two night troubleshooting this issue and would love to get back to producing something instead of troubleshooting.

Can you offer insight into Harm's comment. Should I avoid QT in favor of AVI for future projects since I'm on a Windows machine?
Quicktime is not a requirement to run PrPro on windows. But if you want full suite-wide feature support and optimal performance, it is highly recommended that you install quicktime on windows. That's not my opinion, it's an official Adobe statement:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html
"QuickTime 7.6.6 software required for QuickTime features"
I've had no problems with mov files on windows as long as I have the latest qt installed. A lot of people hate QT, although I'm not sure if they've actually had any problems with it or if its just part of mac vs pc animosity.... kinda like snowboarding vs skiing or Yankeees vs Sox. Different people prefer one or the other for different reasons and I've been unable to PROVE that one is always superior or inferior to the other. (I'm pretty sure the Yankees are evil though)
But if you're working mainly in SD and exclusively on windows, then I would definately recommend using DV AVI as your format of choice. But I would still say you should have QT installed, eespecially if you're running the production suite on there.

  • Why does my export always seem to be Interlaced?

I have tried many export combinations and all seem to produce the 'combing' effect.
I want to export HD video for use on a blu-ray play hooked up to a HD TV.
    I shoot with a Sony SR7 in Full HD, import full and use the export settings as follows;
AIC, Frame Rate Current, HDV 1080i, Size HD 1920 x 1080 16:9, Deinterlace Source Video checked.
At this stage the video looks 'combed'
I then burn it using Toast 9 (with hd pluggin) as a bluray video.
When viewed on a HD TV the combing is less but still there.
    What's wrong here?

I'm not sure what it's doing, really. All I know is that if it's just the screen turning off, my programs shouldn't be getting closed.

  • Help me! Audition always failing exports to wav, mov, and Premiere Pro! WHY???

    Hello,
I am sound editing and mixing a picture locked 25 min short film. When done with the mix and ready to  export the mixdown, the export always takes forever (the project is 12GB large total) I mixdown to stereo file wav, but when I open the file, both VLC and Media Player don't play, with WMP saying its corrupt. I bring the same file into Premiere, and it says that it cannot import "because of  a header problem"! What is that? I tried the same with the export to Quicktime (mov) format, and I got the same result. Go up to the window and choose Export to Premiere (you know, directly into Premeire) and it says it it will take 12 hours. I don't remeber cs5.5 taking this long. HELP PLEASE, I need to export this by tonight!!!
    Export settings(both formats):
    Convvert to 48 khz
Convert to 24 bt (32 with mov; only option)
tried both RF64 and Legacy Chunk whatever
Premeire Pro freindly setting on in Preferences
    Windows 7 64 Pro
    INtel Core i7 930
    16GB RAM
    GeForce GTS 250

I don't think a file of that length should exceed 4GB, but be aware that Audition CAN export wave files larger than that due to the RF64 support (vs. 'legacy chunk'), and Premiere can't yet open RF64 giga-wave-files!
Now, other than telling you that this shouldn't be happening, we'll need more information before we can track down what's wrong.  Best thing is to detail for us what your export settings are, precisely.

  • Export to excel loses formatting

I have a region whose source is a SQL query.
My SQL query contains function calls that return a value.
    source of the region:
    select nvl(GETSRHR(:P253_STARTDATE,:P253_ENDDATE),0) as "REQUESTS",
    nvl(GETTBHR(:P253_STARTDATE,:P253_ENDDATE),0) as "BENEFITS",
    nvl(GETTOTALHRS(:P253_STARTDATE,:P253_ENDDATE),0) as "TOTALS"
    from dual
Report template chosen is: default vertical report look 1 (include null columns)
when I run the page the report looks as follows:
    REQUESTS 20
    BENEFITS 120
    TOTALS 140
When I export this it looks like:
    REQUESTS     BENEFITS     TOTALS
    20          120          140
Why is the formatting lost when I export to Excel? am I missing a step somewhere?
    thanks for the feedback

The CSV/Excel export always exports your data horizontally. Similar to what you would get if you were running this in SQL Plus. The vertical look report template only applies to the report when shown in your web page. The template selection has now affect on the structure of the CSV export. If you need to export your data in a different way, one way to implement this would be to write a PL/SQL region or process that stores the data in that format first, e.g. in another table or using HTML DB collections and then write a report that is based on that temporary storage.

  • Export Report times out - how do I export all my customers?

We have about 35,000 customers in our BC database.
I'm trying to export them for use in a direct mailing campaign (and other reports for other reasons) but the export always times out.
The reports are very simple; ie.
Custom Report -> Add customer report
    Select Customers (Contacts & Companies)
Select CRM ID, Customer Name, Default Address Type
    Next
    Generate report (no filters)
About 33,000 results are in the report.
I then select Export Report as CSV or Excel and it will sit there for up to an hour or more and do nothing.
    Notes:
I keep the session live by having a login in another tab.
Have tried differenty browsers and internet connections.
I even filtered the results (based on create date) and same problem occurred with just 15,000.
How can I export this report and other simple reports I need?
    Regards,
    Troy.

After Sanjit took a look at this it turns out all I needed to do was to save the report before exporting the results. The export was much quicker and, now we have more cutomers in our database, it actually exports!
    Thanks again Sanjit.
    Troy.

  • JPEG Export

    Hello,
I have an image in Aperture. I go to export a thumbnail of this image using the standard export dialog.
With all settings as low as possble and metadata unchecked my 200x300pixel jpeg is 80kb.
If I export the same image (200x300 pixel) with the webgallery settings the file is 12kb (jpeg medium).
Could we get this export option added to the normal export presets? I'd love to be able to export the files and retain the filenames (webgallery renames everything).
For part of my webgallery I would like to be able to create my thumbnails using Aperture but at 80kb a go I am postprocessing with a photoshop script to keep the file size down.
    Cheers for any advice
    Alex
    Gallery : http://www.traceramc.co.uk/aperture/

I know you can and I've tried this.
JPEG quality 1, no metadata = 80kb file, and it looks awful!
The file size is nowhere near as small as the webexport (which is JPEG quality 5) - I suspect this is because the normal export always embeds a thumbnail within the JPEG file - no matter what size it is. I was looking in the plist files to see if there was another flag that could be added but alas no luck - yet.

  • How to export "original" w/o Lr adjustments?

I've searched this "6 ways from Sunday" and can't find an answer. Often I will start the edit process in Lr (making various adjustments including cropping, changes in white balance, etc.) and decide for variety of reasons that I need to work on the ORIGINAL file without Lr's adjustments. The export dialog has "export to hard drive" and under file settings: Image format "Original." Despite selecting this and requesting no other changes exporting ALWAYS includes Lr edits. I've worked in preferences and in the export options and as I said done a lot of searching but can't seem to get to the original (as in unaltered) file. The only way to do this is to go to the edited file in Lr and reset or delete all adjustments, then export. Note this also happens with "Edit in Ps." Why, you ask, would one want this? Example: I have to provide a team photo to the newspaper in a specific format. I then want to use the same original photo to create a poster for possible sale. (Do you have any idea how hard it is to get 15 kids to all have their eyes open at the same time? ) Of course the cropping and treatment of a poster is significantly different than that necessary for paper submission.
Again, I've looked and doubtlessly overlooked, but can't find an answer. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Robert
Lr 5.3, Mac OS X 10.8.5 (all current updates) Original files are .CR2 though I can't see how this would be relevant.

Thanks for the quick responses. Suzanne, the "Create Virtual Copy" is a great idea. I actually had no clue what Adobe meant by "virtual" in this case. Seems as if it's missed named as what one is doing is marking the original in place.
Bob your explanation that it depends on how the the viewing program interprets the metadata makes sense. I can see an argument from Adobe that obviously you'll want to use the work you've done if you export it. On the other hand nearly all of my plugins provide a choice that says something like "Open with Lightroom changes?" Would be trivial for Adobe to add this both to "Export as Original" and to "Edit in Ps." I would argue that very few people would interpret "Export as Original" to mean "Export in original format, but include all the changes you've made."
I came to Lr from a competing program that allowed one to set whether or not they wanted virtual copies created when an adjustment was made. I always chose this approach and while one might end up with several intermediate "views" they were easy to stack and easy to delete any you didn't want to retain. I note that there is stacking in Lr but haven't figured out what it does other than to take a selection of pix and put them in a pile.
    Again, thanks. I'll experiment.

  • Export data on pdf-form to Excel

I would need help for exporting data from pdf-form to Execl spreadsheet
the basic idea is that a pdf-form would be the user interface to collect the data with text boxes / drop-downs (such as "Vendor", "Purchase order number", "Date", "Text" etc.) and after the data is filled on the pdf-form it would be easily exported (with button?) to one certain Excel -file.
The Excel-file should have similarly named colums and the data from pdf-form would be exported always to the next empty row.
    PDF FORM
    Excel -spreadsheet

Thanks but this is not quite what I was looking for
The idea was that the user would fill-in the data on the pdf -form and from there this data would be exported to one named Excel-file ( = data exported always to same Excel - file / to the next empty row)
So this Excel -file would act as a summary file / database from where the collected data could be easily sorted etc.
Another issue is that I'm looking for easy solution for the exporting fuction (e.g. button + java script) so that also the "dummy users" could operate this

  • APEX 3.0: Region caching and PDF Export

    Hi,
there was some comment in the APEX 3.0 Feedback Application that if a region has activated the new "Caching" settings, the Flash Chart data, PDF Export and CSV Export get also cached.
That seems to work fine for the Flash Charts, they display the cached data, but the new PDF Export and the CVS Export always requery the data.
    Patrick
    Check out my APEX-blog: http://inside-apex.blogspot.com
Check out the ApexLib Framework: http://apexlib.sourceforge.net

    Hi Patrick,
That is correct, PDF and CSV exports are not cached. I don't know why this was stated differently in the feedback application.

  • Book Module: Export to PDF and Blurb stops with error at two page spread

I have a 66 page book created in the book module..
When exporting to PDF the export stops with the error:
"An error occurred while saving the book.
There was an error creating the PDF file. "
The same occurs (at the same book page) when exporting to BLURB
"An error occurred while creating the book."
The creation or export always stops at the same page which is a two page spread. Interestingly there is a two-page spread before that didn't throw an error. I tried to move the problem page to the end of the book. That didn't help because the next two page spread in the book throws an error.
    Any ideas or help?
    Lightroom version: 4.0
Computer: Windows 7, Quadcore, 8 GB RAM

Hi, sorry I do not have a solution but I too have a very similar issue in that the book is the same size but the export to PDF does not start at all
I have tried reducing the image dpi settings. Jpg quality and still nothing
The only success I have had is if I duplicate the book, delete all but 8 pages and then export at full dpi settings of 300 and 100 percent jpg quality
    Any more pages and nothing
It's a great tool and would buy it if this feature actually worked. Oh yeah I only have the trial version at the minute to give it a good thorough test
I have looked for solutions but like your query they are all unanswered
Does adobe actually offer any support or is this all user solutions?
Did you find a solution by the way?

  • Exported PDF file *extremely* magenta

I have a background that is specified as a dark blue but when I export the file the blue appears as purple, and the neutral gray has a pink cast. Anyone have any idea why this would happen? Or experience this yourself?

Brian: when you say "export using Animation", do you mean Animations (with an "s") from Jumsoft?
In a previous post you mentioned: "H.264 exports always look pretty lousy color wise. I usually export to Animation"
...I've looked at Jumsoft's site but I don't see any info about exporting "using" or "to" Animations. Pls could you explain the steps beginning from the point where I have my slideshow sitting in Keynote and would normally do File > Export... and choose QuickTime. If I had Animations, what would I do instead?
Perhaps then I can determine whether I should buy Animations -- not for the animations, but just for better color on my Keynote H.264s!
