Export an animated PSD to SWF

I remember exporting an animated psd file from photoshop into a compiled flash file (swf) awhile back. But in CS5 I cannot find this feature. Was it available earlier only (through ImageReady)? How can I do this now?
Thank you

There is a few ways you can do this.  First of all I'm assuming you know that the Image Ready Animation features are all in the Window  -> Animation tab.  From there, you can choose File -> Export -> Render Video... and choose either an actual video file, which could then be made into an .FLV for flash,  or export as a JPG/GIF Sequence which could be imported to the Flash timeline.
Hope this helps!
Jesse
EDIT: Just noticed you were wanting it exported as a compiled .swf.  Sorry, I believe that was only with Fireworks that you could do that... i think FLV is your best bet for filesize now anyway.

  • Exporting an animation to a swf file.

    hello, is it possible to export an animation to an swf file?
    I have to make a simple animation banner for a ledboard.

    Hi want2learn,
    Sorry but no - Edge Animate is an HTML5 animation tool, and creates only HTML & Javascript files.
    If you need to create swf files, Adobe Flash Professional CC exports to swf as its native format (as well as many others):

  • Does animated .gif export support animation of library symbols?

    I'm currently using the 30-day free trial of Adobe Flash Professional CC. I was really pleased to see how easily you could export animations in animated .gif format, seemed to run without a hitch.
    One thing I noticed while using Flash is that instances of symbols placed into a scene don't actually animate when you use the "Play" function -- that is to say, when you press Enter and the playhead starts moving along the timeline from its current position. They remain at the very first frame of their respective animations. In order to show the proper animations of symbols, you have to use the Test function (CTRL - Enter) to actually compile a working .swf of the thing.
    This wasn't much of an issue until I tried to export in .gif format and I got this same issue. Instances of symbols don't animate, they only seem to work in compiled .swf's.
    FileDropper link to the working file I'm using: http://www.filedropper.com/flashbottle
    Result .gif: http://i.imgur.com/PZVXST7.gif
    Since the use of symbols in the Flash workflow seems to be a rather common occurrence it seems unthinkable that Flash wouldn't support their usage with whatever mechanism they use to export animated .gif's. Is there some sort of silly mistake I'm making or checkbox I need to toggle? Or is the functionality simply not there?

    Thank you for your reply!
    I check exported GIFs in various browsers and XnView viewer.
    It's definitely not a preview  issue - i have 32Gb of RAM and Nvidia Quadro 4000 GPU on my system.
    I believe the issue is with transparency, because i'm able to export GIFs with solid background just fine
    GIF export dialogue window has 'Transparency' checkbox, so it looks like it should be possible to export an animated GIF with transparent background, but for some reason i'm getting all frames at the same time
    thank you

  • How do I export an animation from Photoshop with no background, to use in after effects?

    Its been a few years since I've used photoshop and after effects together so hoping you can remind me how to do this.
    I'm trying to export an animation created in photohop, its frame by frame, no background. I've been exporting it as an image sequence, now I"ve coloured it I need to solve this transparency issue.
    Is there a way to export it to use in after effects on top of a background layer.
    So I just want to see the character, no background, animation on top of my background layer in after effects, does that make sense??
    Please don't say I need to have an alpha channel on each frame, that will take ages, there must be another way.
    Please help I need to sort this ASAP
    Thanks in advance!
    x

    Thanks!
    So this makes sense, I tried it, when I import into after effects (here is the psd.)
    I get this window not sure what to be selecting, but I tried different things and it still isn't importanting as literally the animation with no background, have I missed something? whats strange is that when I import the psd, what does import is a strange monatage of snippets of the video I'm making in afterfx, not the completely separate animation i made in photoshop which I'm trying to work into the video.
    very perplexing! any more help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Flash crash when i export my animation as a video and get stuck at 64%

    When i export my animation for a video it makes a swf file but it renders till 64% and get stuck and flash freeze and close, how can i fix this?

    When you select to use RAM or disk to render with, if you're using RAM try selecting to use DISK instead and make sure you have enough space available for the final file. If you're exporting anything near HD size with no compression then you should have potentially hundreds or thousands of GIGS available for your animation.

  • Exporting an animated GIF

    Does anyone know whether it's possible to export an animated GIF from FCP? The only methods I've seen described involve using three programs I don't have - AE, Graphics Converter or ImageReady.

    I don't know if there is a way to do it with just FCP.
    Have you tried GIFBuilder? I heard it works very well.

  • Cannot edit an animated .psd template

    Hello,
    I have a .psd template that has several text and image layers that are used on animation timeline.   This was done by paid help.  I cannot figure out how to view  layers for editing unless I turn on animations and click on the  timeline where that layer is located..  I know this can't be right because I would have to edit the text each time on  the time line.  Can someone tell how to view hidden layers for animated .psd files so I can edit?  Thanks

    You will have to edit frame-by-frame. When you click on each frame in the animation pallet it will correspond to the layers pallet at that given point in the animation timeline.

  • Exporting Photoshop Animation for Instagram

    Hello
    I was wondering if it was possible to export an animation created in photoshop to Instagram. I have poked around the web but have not seen anything on the topic. Thank you for your help!

    If you are using html-emails you will need to define an area where you will need to insert your flash within (similar to a webpage with a flash banner).
    Animated .gif would work too. Your client can set up a template email or even add the animated gif to their signature in their email options.
    Hope any of this is helpful.

  • Exporting a Layered PSD and Overprint Fill

    Hi guys.
    I'm trying to export a layered PSD of my AI file and I keep having problems with it merging the layers because of the overprint settings.
    I've been trying to go through and turn off the overprint in my objects, but I have a photo that's cropped by a rectangle shape, and the Overprint Fill option under Attributes is greyed out. What must I do?

    Well, when I release the clipping mask, both the image and the selection mask do not have the overprint checked or greyed. But when I apply the mask, it turns grey again (with a "-").
    The clipping mask:

  • Export iDVD animation into iMovie

    I have a MacBook w/o an iDVD supported SuperDrive, so I can't burn a DVD, but I was wondering if it was possible to create my iDVD animation, export it into iMovie, dub it up to the beginning of my movie, and export the whole thing as a QT file to email to friends. This way I have the animation, although not looped or interactive, to use as a title sequence in my movie.
    Any tips/suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Just thought about something. I'm going to try and export the animation as a disk image and then Handbrake it as a QT. A lot of work, but it might turn out to be the only way. If you know an easier one, let me know. Thanks.

  • Seamless animation using a SWF

    Hi,
    I'm having problem with playing a *.swf file in my animation.  The *.swf file actually contains a video clip of people passing a card to one another. On the main timeline there are 3 nested movieclips, the movieclip on the second frame contains the *.swf file, and using Im using this code to load the SWF file:
    var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    addChild(myLoader);
    var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("iwill_cards_video.swf");
    myLoader.load(url);
    MovieClip(root).nextFrame()
    The first movieclip plays fine, but then the next two movieclips play at the same time over one another.  I would like for the first movieclip to play, then the second movieclip containing the SWF file, followed by the final movieclip.  I have a "stop" on each of the 3 frames on the main timeline but it doesnt seem to work?
    thanks in advance,
    Matt

    if your loaded swf just plays from frame 1 to its main timeline last frame and that's when you want your loading swf to advance to frame 3, you can use:
    var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    addChild(myLoader);
    var url:URLRequest = new  URLRequest("iwill_cards_video.swf");
    myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,onLoad);
    myLoader.load(url);
    function onLoad(e:Event){
    MovieClip(myLoader.content).addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,checkPlay);
    function checkPlay(e:Event){
    if(e.target.currentFrame==e.target.totalFrames){
    e.target.stop();
    MovieClip(myLoader.content).removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,checkPlay);
    removeChild(myLoader);
    myLoader.unload();
    myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,onLoad);
    myLoader=null;
    MovieClip(root).nextFrame()

  • Can I export an animated PNG (APNG - I think) from Photoshop? If so, how?

    Can I export an animated PNG (APNG - I think) from Photoshop? If so, how?

    All Web browsers do not support animated png files some like Chrome have add-ons the support animated png.   IMO  there are ways to plat videos in all browsers.  Video can contain audio as well as animations and the video and audio compression used produce smaller files sizes then animated png files I have seen for animated png files.
    Animated png files have much better color and image quality when compared to animated gif however I feel video is a better choice then animated png. CC should be able to create those video animations.
    I  have create animated png files using Photoshop to create the frames and a free program to create the animated png files from the frames. I do not know if I still have the free application installed. I feel that at this point in time animated png is dead. or the softwae is end of life.

  • Export fonts with PSD

    I would like to know if there is any option in photoshop where you can save a PSD file and it automatically saves the fonts used in that PSD. I’ve seen such an option in Corel Draw where you prepare a document for print and it includes all the fonts with that document.
