Export and import user master records
Hi,
We are planning for system refresh activity. So I am planning Production server data to copy in Quality server. I want retain Quality server users like that only. Is there any way I can export user master records and import it later?
Please advice us.
Our environment is 4.6 C, Oracle 10g, windows 2003 server.
Regards
Satya
Hello Satyanarayana,
please be aware, that with SAP_USER standard change logs are not copied. So if you have such in your QAS, they will be propably overwritten by the PRD content. You will loose then change logs for role changes, which are kept in the standard change documents (cdpos, cdhdr).
User change docs are copied together with the users with provfile SAP_USER.
That is just for your information. In general there will not be change documents for roles in QAS.....

Shell Script For Export And Import Of Table Records
Hello,
We have production and test instances and for constant testing we need to copy data from production to test or development environment.
At the moment what we do is manually doing export and import table records. At times this could be very tedious as we may need
to do this exercise a couple of times in a day.
Is it a good idea to do this exercise using shell script? If so how could I do this? If this is not a good idea what are the best alternatives?
Any input is highly appreciated.
ThanksAh I see, your company prefers stupidity over efficiency. It would be possible to do it in a controlled environment, wouldn't it? Also the test database would be allowed to select only.
So the non-allowance is just plain stupid.
To the second question: do you use hard-coded passwords in shell scripts?
Don't you think that poses a security risk?
Don't you think that is a bigger risk than a database link, properly set up?
In my book it is!

Export and Import of master repository - error snpuser not found
We had installed ODI on a windows server and created physicla and logical topologies etc and developed some models and projects.
But we had sone all of this while still pointing to the demo master repository using the HypersonicSQL. This means we always have to have the 'Start Demo Agent' running etc.
So we wanted to move to an Oracle based master repository. I have used the 'Create Master Repository' function to create a new repository using ORacle thinnet driver and this is all OK and I can sign in to the SUPERVISOR user.
But when I export our existing repository from the 'HypersonocSQL' demo one to a ZIP file and then use the 'Import Master Repository' to create a master repository in the Oracle using thinnet driver etc - firstly it removes the repository details that I originally created - fair enough - then creates it all again but from the ZIP file.
The SNP_ tables all exist in the oracle database user and I can see that in SNP_USER there is the record for SUPERVISOR etc.
But when I try to sign in to this through topology manager or security manager - as SUPERVISOR I immediately get the error 'SNPUser does not exist'
Am I doing something wrong with exporting my 'demo' master repository and trying to import it in to the new Oracle repository ?thanks - but that is effectivley what I did - used the repository import from my exported ZIP file - and it all imported OK - but the error on login to topology manager afterwards is that the snp user does not exist.
Although I initially used the 'Master Repository Creation' I then adaondoned this - dropped and recreated my Oracle user 'snpm' that owns the master repository and used the import repository approach.
I am trying to sign in as the standard SUPERVISOR user (that existed OK in the Hypersonic master repository that was exported to the ZIP file) and also trying other users that I know existed in the Hypersonic reporitory that I exported - same problem. I can see in Oracle SQL*Plus that in the SNP_USERS table the SUPERVISOR user exists.
If I do instead carry out a standard 'Create Master Repository' and do NOT try to import anything then it works OK and I can sign in to the Topology Manager as SUPERVISOR. -
Export and Import User Command Line
Hi,
I would like to export a user on my Xserver via command line. I know it's the nidump command but not sure how to use it for a proper export. After the export I want to import that user on a second macosx server with niload or whatever command is needed.
Please can somebody post some examples for me.
Thanks heaps,

To export all users on the old server:
sudo nidump passwd . > myExportFile
Then open the file with TextEdit (or the like) and clear out all the users you do not want to import. Then copy the file to your new server and do:
sudo niload passwd . < myExportFile
Note: this only works with local NetInfo users, not LDAP ones.<br>

Export and Import Users in UCM
Hi,
Does anyone know how to move all users, alias and role definitions from one ucm to another ucm?
Thanks.Hi,
If you don't have user accounts defined in LDAP, you can try to use Archiver tool for copying local users.
Although Archiver was not created for this purpose, it has an option "Export user configuration information". I used it once in on my test system and it worked, but it was not the case of migrating data but restoring previous state of the system (this shouldn't be problem as the Archiver export bundles can be imported on another UCMs). I created export definition that exports no content, just users.
Try this, but test it twice or more before using on production system.
Good luck!

Export and import user presets
How to import metadata user presets from another Lightroom catalog?
Metadata presets are stored in folder inside of your user settings. Depending upon your operating system, this location may vary.

It is as simple as copying them. -
Export and Import of Portal Users (UME database only)
Hi
What is the most efficient way to export all Portal user that are stored in Portal UME database so that it can be imported to another Portal installation and be used..
Thanks in Advance
AnandaHi,
SAP User Administration is the standard way to export and import users in the portal. Using the export functionality, all the user information will get exported, including the roles and groups assigned:
[User]
uid=userid
last_name=Lastname
first_name=Tobias
language=en
accessibility=0
role=pcd:portal_content/com.sap.portal.xxx;
group=Administrators;
If you only want to export the user data without the roles and groups, you'll have to delete these lines.

TDMS user master records over written
Hello All, I ran TDMS copy (Time sliced) and noticed user master records got over written. (Example: After log into the system, the menu is displaying different name instead of my name. This happened for all users.
Do we need to exclude tables related to user master records? As per TDMS guidelines, the process will not touch user master records.
Please advise. Did any one ran in to the saem issue ?
regards,
SrinivasHi,
You are right , TDMS will not touch user master records.
Check tables ADRP which is transfered in full and USR21 which is not transfered in both sender and reciever systems.

Export and import change document for user master data
Dear Gurus,
I have two queries on change document for user master data:
1. Are there any approaches to export and import change document for user master data?
We often do system copy from PRD to QAS for UAT and troubleshooting. Before system copy we export the user master data from QAS and then import after the copy process. We would like to keep the change document for user master data on QAS from being refreshed from PRD for security reason.
2. Change document for Role change in QAS
When the role is created or modified in DEV and then transported to QAS, the role change document doen't include this change log. The role change document in QAS only records those role changes directly made in QAS.
Could you advise this is by SAP design or are there any approaches to record this transported role change in the role change document in QAS?
Thanks
YBY1. Perhaps you want to consider a system copy to a "virtual system" for UAT?
2. Changes in QAS (as with PROD as well) will give you the delta. They should ideally be clean... You need to check the source system.
Another option is to generate the profiles in the target system. But for that your config has to be sqeaky clean and in sync, including very well maintained and sync'ed Su24 data.
Cheers,

User Master Records/Tables - Exporting User tables for Recovery
Hi there,
Work in the Security area ....Outside of the client export of SCC8 for user master records/roles. Is there another recommended method for saving user tables that can be re-imported on the chance of deletion of users and roles and can be selectively re-imported if needed. For instance if a particular User Grouip was deleted with X number of users, could that be re-imported by a selective means ? SU10 is handled delicately in prod when used but unwanted results still occur. Approaches appreciated ..Hi,
Try the following..
BAPI_USER_CREATE Create a User
BAPI_USER_CREATE1 Create a User
Hope that helps!

Is it possible to export and import the roles and users tables?
Hi,
is there any possibility to export and import the role and user definitions?
We have a SAP MDM repository with a lot of roles and users and also with a lot of changes.
And now I'm searching for a fast and efficient way of managing the roles and users.
Thanks and Regards, MelanieHi Melanie,
There is no export/import functionality for roles and users. The only way to manage these in an automated way would be to write a program that uses the Java or ABAP APIs. Both APIs expose functionality to create, update and delete roles and users.
Hope this helps,

Is there a BADi or User Exit that can be implemented that updates the Telephone Field in IT105 if you change the Telephone Field in the User Master Record via SU01
or
If you change the Telephone Field in the User Master Record via SU01 that it updates the Telephone Field in IT105.
Also, can this be somehow linked into IT0032 - Internal Data - Telephone fields
Thanks
WBHI Will,
Use the below mathod to find out whether an relevant BADI are there.
1. Go to the TCode SE24 and enter CL_EXITHANDLER as object type.
2. In 'Display' mode, go to 'Methods' tab.
3. Double click the method 'Get Instance' to display it source code.
4. Set a breakpoint on 'CALL METHOD cl_exithandler=>get_class_name_by_interface'.
5. Then run the transaction SU01 in change mode and change the phone no.
6. The screen will stop at this method.
7. Check the value of parameter 'EXIT_NAME'. It will show you the BADI for that transaction. Check whether its relevant or not.

URGENT...Help on User Level export and import
User level export and import -
In my db there are more than 20 users, i would like export only 2 users and they have constraints to other user tables in db.
what are the precautions I need to take before exporting ???
1. Disabling all constraints etc, .
2. Synonymns, Procedures , Triggers etc.
3. what are the parameters setting I should use for the export.
For Importing back into DB (same users) - What are the sequences/steps to follow..
1. what are the parameters setting I should use for the Import.
2. Precautions like Disabling Constraints...
3. Special actions for Synonyms/ Procedures.
Using Oracle 8.1.7 on Solaris.. Total DB Size is 13.3 GB
Any help will be appreciated....See to it that u have the DBA PRIVS to exp/imp.
1.Grant export full database /import full database privileges to the user doing this.
2.If this is the first time u are doing this u have to run the scripts CATEXP.SQL and CATPROC.SQL to create the necessary views, datadictionaries as user SYS/INTERNAL.These instructions are also mentioned in the scripts comments at the beginning .
3.Also create the necessary tablespaces where u need to direct u'r imp.
4.select the interactive option where u can interact with
imp/exp process and u can do this selectively for users/tables/partitions and other preferences.
5.look out for the version compatibility of your .DMP files -
Releases of export and import systems have to be identical
hi all,
we want PRD data on DEV , PRD client has been exported successfully. data ( 2 requests from cofile & data) from PRD copied to DEV in cofile and data.
now when we import these requests in DEV client through STMS , it say that "Releases of export and import systems have to be identical"
while oracle patch, kernel patch and java version all are same on both systems.
plz guide

KhanFriends,
We also faced same issue while restoring USER Master backup in one of our system. Even after applying OSS Note 1291394 it didn't work for us. Though the permanent solution is to apply this OSS Note only.
As a teporary workaround we can add the TR through OS command using Uncoditional Mode "Overwrite Original" and import also using Uncoditional Mode "Overwrite Original". Below are the commands.
To Add in buffer:
tp addtobuffer <TR> SID Client=<> U012 pf=<>
To Import in system:
tp import <TR> SID U012 pf=<>
