Export as FLV through quicktime conversion in FCP doesnt work

Every time I try to use Export > Quicktime Compresison > FLV.
Final cut just hangs and doesnt respond. I just need a streamable flv file from the sequence.
Could there be a missing plugin or something i cant get ffmpegx to convert a file to flv either.

You can also use any h.264 settings and just change the file extension to .flv.
This works. The only problem I see is that the file is much larger if you do it that way without encoding to flv directly...
That's not a problem with H.264, that's the direct result of your compression settings. You've got a lot of work to do. It might be far easier for you to obtain a copy of Flash or any of the many Macintosh encoders that will create native flv files.
Hit versiontracker.com and search for flash encoders.

Please help. When exporting a 720p video using Quicktime Conversion in FCP it saves some extra temporary files to my computer. The temporary file it saves is called ICMMultiPassStorage. This file gets so large that eventually the program and exporting process crashes. I have been able to locate the file using GrandPerspective and close out of FCP to delete it. But when I try exporting the movie again it creates the ICMMultiPassStorage file again. I have made sure my scratch disks are set to my external hard drive so I know that isn't the issue. How do I fix this problem so these temporary files are not being stored on my internal hard drive instead of my external? Thanks!

Try exporting the timeline "using current settings" via Make QuickTime Movie, then submit that clip to Compressor for the transcode. This should be faster and less painful.

  • How do I Ensure that your MOV/MP4 video is exported through QuickTime conversion?

I have a YouTube channel. I use Sony Vegas to render my mp4 projects, but my PC uses QuickTime & I'm VERY unfamiliar with it and/or how it works, how to access it. When I record a mp4 video, QuickTime needs to be involved, but I'm unsure how to even check or know where to go, to find out how to do that. I need ensure my mp4 video is exported through QuickTime conversion. I have no idea what it even means? Does anyone out there happen to have the knowledge I would need to check if in fact the video is being exported through QuickTime conversion? If so, I WOULD FOREVER BE IN DEBT TO YOU! I hope someone can help me figure this problem out. Thanks for taking the time to view my question, and if anyone does know, I'd greatly accept your advice! Thank you very much again!

    Hello,
You can do this:  Set up a slow pulse train for CTR0 (1Hz).  Set up a continuous digital channel read for Port 0 Line 0 on your card.  Hook up CTR0 output (pin 5) to P0.0 (pin 10).  Start your program to do the counter output pulse train and continuous read.  You should see your digital line transition from high to low over time.  The examples you can use to set this up are Gen Dig Pulse Train-Continuous.vi and Cont Read Dig Chan-Int Clk.vi.  For Cont Read Dig Chan-Int Clk.vi, remove the DAQmx Timing VI to make it software timed, and connect the task handle and error wires accordingly. They can be ran from separate VI's as they don't use the same resources.
To be exact on the verbage used, you can perform a self-test on the device by right clicking the device in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and select Self-Test.  As for testing the device manually, go with what I described above.

  • Please help. export .wmv file via QuickTime Conversion

Use FCP HD 4.5 QuickTime Conversion to export a short movie which is about 2 mintues long. I only can get exported files in 30 seconds no matter I selected default format QuickTime Moive or Windows Media. Any thing I missed?
I cleaned all markers on TimeLine, but still same
(I am using Power Mac G5 with OS X 10.4.5).
    thanks

It means your material is outside of 'safe' levels...luminance, chrominance or both.
    Quick fix...apply Broadcast safe filter
    Best fix...use Color Corrector 3-way.
You should also post a new thread with a new topic.

  • Audio Does not export with ideo in quicktime conversion

I know i did something with a keyboard shortcut during the editing process, but i cant figure out what i did and how to change it back. What my issue is that when i try to export it to any format in quicktime (in quicktime conversion) the video is ok, but my audio does not export at all.
I dont know what went wrong but i should note i pressed something on my timeline that i didnt realize what it did. Its hard to explain what it looks like, when you press on different clips all the clips on my time line quickly turn a more silver/light color and then change back to the normal color(not effecting the video quality just the thumbnails). But it is has a weird color
is there a way i can reset all settings without adjusting my video clips?
    Sound settings
    Format: Lubear OCM
    Channels: Stereo (L R)
    Rate: 48.0000 hHz
    Render Settings:
    Quality: Normal
    Linear PCM Settings:
    Sample Size: 16 bits
    Checked: Little Endian

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Does the audio play when you run sequence?
Did you toggle off the monitor icon at the left side of timeline for audio track?
When export to quicktime conversion, select quicktime movie and click OPTION.
From this point, you should see a checkbox for SOUND. Be sure to check it ON.

  • Send to FCP doesnt work

When I try to send my sequence to color, I get no image in Color and most of the clips on the timeline are red.
The sequence I try to send contains XDCAM EX 720p50 footage and HDV 1080i50 footage. It probably has something to do with the frame rate. The HDV footage works fine but the other footage is black or in slowmotion. I cant seem to chance the frame rate setting in color.
Does someone have any ideas on this?
P.S:I tried baking, doesnt work. I cant seem to change the framerate for the sequence in fcp either.

COLOR works best (which you should read as "works") when you've got a unified format/framerate timeline.
The framerate is unchangeable once media has been loaded on the timeline.
Try this as a starting point:
    http://www.apple.com/support/releasenotes/en/Color1.0rn/
Among he things you might learn is:
XDCAM EX media is imported by Final Cut Pro as XDCAM HD, which is supported by Color for import, but not supported as Original format or as an Export Codec.
There have been a couple of releases that expanded import support for LongGOP formats.
The redded-out clips are unsupported or incompatible media.

  • Having issues exporting to .FLV with QT conversion

Hi, my client needs an FLV file at 221x165pixels for his website.
i have had no trouble in the past creating FLV files using the QT conversion method, but at this size the file plays flipped diaganolly, with a diaganol line through the picture.
any ideas of what im doing wrong?
    cheers

A 221x165 raster is the wrong aspect ratio, and it isn't an integer divisor of anything. Explain to your client that video doesn't work that way.

  • Exporting to web size Quicktime video from FCP Problems

I have run into a problem...
A few weeks ago and checked my Software Update and noticed that their was a newer version of Quicktime, so I installed the update and now have the newest version of Quicktime. Every since then, when exporting to Quicktime using the Export - Using Quicktime Coversion commands. The Use settings have changed. They are now...
    LAN/Intranet
    Broadband - High
    Broadband - Medium
    Broadband - Low
    Dial Up
    Dial Up - Audio Only
    Streaming - Medium
    Streaming - Low
These are the choices I have now after updating my Quicktime. They have changed since before. With the older version of Quicktime, I used to be able to select the highest quality option, LAN and get a very good picture and a decent file size. For example, a 2 minute 16 second video was 16.5 MB.
Now when I go to export using the LAN setting, it takes forever and always seems to start at 7% completed, saving that less than a minute until completion, then it slowly savs, 2 minutes until completion, 4 minutes etc. until it says 45 minutes.
Something is wrong and I don't know what. Please help.
    Thanks

Well I did a search of the forums and found this infomation...that Compressing as H.264 means that only people with Quicktime 7 can view the movie. I checked my compression settings and indeed the default compression setting I was exporting with was H.264.
What was the compression I had before I upgraded to Quicktime 7? I think if I switch my compreesion to this from H.264 my problems could be solved.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • How to export/import prefs.js? Copying the file doesnt work

I want to export/import about:config changes. The paths is "Firefox/Profiles/i63866ho.default-1384517947097/prefs-js". I copied prefs.js, all the content of the folder "i63866ho.default-1384517947097" and "Profiles" folder also. Nothing worked. When I copied prefs.js it didnt do anything and comes back to the old/first prefs.js after restarting firefox. When I copy the folder it says it cannot be done.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks a lot

    Thank you for the info.
I finally got the way, no need to change profiles.ini
I was as close as far from getting it. I was replacing Profiles folder when firefox was open. But firefox must be closed, I must copy all the content from the extrange named folder inside Profiles, replacing it for the content of the new one after restoring.
    1. Set firefox with all changes on about:config, extensions, tabs, etc that I like, and then close it, cmd+q
    2. Copy all content from the extrange folder in Profiles (something like niwxnm2h.default-1384723124135)
    3. Open firefox and restore it, closing it again when it restarts.
    4. Now, being firefox closed, replace the content from the new extrange folder by the old / copied.
    5. Done, just start firefox.
So now I have two copies, with changes on about:config and with about:config and extensions.
Link where I found it: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles?esab=a&as=aaq

  • Fcp quicktime conversion export colour problem

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, i have noticed that whenever i want to export a file using Quicktime Conversion from Final Cut Pro 6, the output file has lost its colour depth and seems flat.
For example, i have a DV-PAL timeline and want to export a mov file using QT Conversion and the DV-PAL setting, the file's colour is different to fcp.
What could cause such a problem? i never encountered such a problem running on an older system.
    Please help!

i have tried checking and unchecking 'Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility', and i do not see a change. i have even tried opening the file using the old Quicktime player, but both the new Quicktime x player and the old one look identical.
    i appreciate your help!

  • Exporting Quicktime conversion

I've got some DVCPro HD footage from an HVX I shot recently and edited. I'm trying to export the cut via Quicktime conversion H264. It exports fine but always 4X3 (Squeezed). I can't find a setting to tell it to export 16X9, the way it was recorded, although in the preview when checking settings it shows as 16X9. Any ideas? TIA

What Lamont said. You have to change the dimensions to still be a 16:9 ratio. I so 620x360...which is half 1280x720...

  • Final Cut Pro 4:  Problems exporting video using QuickTime conversion

just recently updated my Mac to version 10.4.11 -
Ever since, Final Cut Pro won't let me Export my video using QuickTime Conversion.
Its starts exporting, then freezes at 79%. A general error message pops up.
I know its not a space issue, because I have 20GB left and the video i'm exporting is only 2 GB.
I installed all the software updates.
Can anyone help? Do I need a new version of Final Cut?

    1) this is the final cut express forum not the pro.
    2) 10.4.6 is not the latest, try updating to 10.4.11
    3) after any system update you must run disk utility to repair permissions or errors that may not have been addressed during the upgrade process.
    4) have you tried exporting as a reference movie then playing it in qtpro, if ok then export.
    5) what are you trying to export too?

  • Slow Exporting AVCHD Footage as a Quicktime conversion

I recorded some video on a Canon Vixia hf21 at 17 mps. After I edited on Final on final cut it was around 15 minutes long. When I went to export it as a quicktime conversion file so I can upload it on youtube, it said it would take 8 hours. I was wondering if there something I can do to speed up the process before or after I edit my footage?
I hava a 13 Macbook Pro 5,5 with 2.26 Ghz and 8 gigs of ram.

    Hi Bunmi,
Apple ProRes is absolutely fine to edit, did you actually try to export a QT movie self contained and take that to Compressor to create your H.264?
Compressor is much faster in creating H.264s, besides it offers more (i.e. ability to see the estimated file size, which automatically updates each time you modify bit rate).
BTW often even if you see a very long estimated time this can dramatically change in a blink of an eye during the process
Give it a go using Compressor.

  • 22-Frame Quicktime Conversion sych error

Does anybody know about this anomaly?
On certain clips in a heavily-edited sequence, the QT-converted output file contains clips with the audio out of synch. On the examples I've tested, the error is video 22 frames ahead of audio.
The workaround is to locate the OOS clips in the output file, then move the audio in FCP ahead by 22 frames. Works!
But why does this happen in the first place? Who else had has this experience?

I have experienced the same thing, there is a lag in offsets using QuickTime Conversion.
Most recently, I noticed it when exporting a still image through QuickTime Conversion. The canvas will actually change approximately 22 frames when you open the Export - QuickTime Conversion window so you can preview this error while you are going through the motions. (I noticed it was about 25 frames, but I did not do a rigorous test.)
In another example, the video actually scratched backward during the QuickTime clip causing it to go out of sync with the audio.
In general, I have not used Quicktime Converion successfully since upgrading to HDV. Relying instead on Compressor, but missing out on some of the ease, convenience, and other options available through Quicktime Conversion.
Anyone have any ideas? Does FCS 2 handle this stuff better?

  • Export to .flv is slow after update to 5.1.4

After updating today to FCP 5.1.4 I attempted to export a 3:30sec clip to .flv using QuickTime conversion. The progress window took ages to appear and started at 4 hrs. After a few minutes it increased to 5 hrs! Anyone else having trouble after the update?

What will happen if you export it to MOV at first and
then use QT Pro to export the resulting movie file to
FLV? That's how we do it.
Tried that too. First from FCP to QT Movie. From QT Pro to .flv involved the same lengthy process. Nearly 1hr. 50 mins. I'm also getting enormous file sizes using the same process I normally do - - and I do a lot of FCP to web movies.
