Export as mp3 ignores the cycle region

When I try to export a portion of the multitrack file based on the cycle region as an mp3 file, it ignores the region and exports to the end, even though only the short clip is soloed. After export, it turns off cycle region. When I export as aiff, it honors the cycle region? Any thoughts? Anyone else experience this?
Weird. . .
Philip

Hi - Im just wondering did you solve this issue? I am trying to export a selection of video as a podcast using the i/o poitns of cycle. When I export, it exports the whole video file and not the selection. Any ideas?

  • HT3650 Glitches exporting aux channels using the blank region method. Any solutions?

I've ended up with LOTS of glitches in the output from the stems. Does anyone have a reliable way to use this method? E.g., one aux track was receiving a left channel only track and a right channel track but the exported file only had the right channel!

Yes my particular issue is not like yours. However, there have been many other laptop users experiencing similar problem to yours after 3.10 kernel. Mostly it seems to be bumblebee users that experience your problem with the blank screen. We do know that nvidia have yet to make their official drivers work with kernel 3.10 and up. The drivers in the Arch repository have been patched to work with 3.10. From what I have seen, this also only seem to be affecting laptops with newer nvidia gpu's. I fear there is not much to do with this problem until nvidia give official 3.10 kernel support.
My suggestion would be to stick with 3.9.9 kernel and the drivers that work with it, and don't upgrade those packages until nvidia has addressed these issues. If you have a look at the nvidia forums you will see quite a number of topics mentioning black screen when starting x on 3.10 kernel, and also a thread for the system dying. Reading some of the threads there may help you keep up to date on whether or not the issue seem to be solved.

  • MP3 won't export cycle region

I am trying to export some voiceovers as MP3, but it keeps exporting the entire timeline instead of just the cropped area (cycle region).
If I export as WAV or AIF, the export is restricted to the cycle region, which I want. So for now I have to export as AIF and convert to MP3.
Is this a bug or am I missing something?

The file system on the flash drive may be imposing a file size limit.
Select the stick in the Finder and use the command "File > Get Info  ⌘I" ). That will show you the file fystem in the "general" brick of the Info panel.

  • Exporting with cycle region

Hi, i am trying to export a song that i have shortened and had fade out. I used the cycle region so the yellow extends just past the part i want. When i export it, it doesn't work. Whenever, the cycle region is on 13 seconds i get about 26 seconds of track and when i set it to 70 seconds its about 2:26 long. Why is this? i have tried everything and am getting very frustrated with it.

Are you exporting as AIFF or AAC? (i.e., do you have a Podcast Track enabled or not?) If you ditch the Podcast track (I take it that you don't need it) and export as AIFF, it should work fine.

How can I export photos from APERTURE with a new sequence and ignore the embedded JPEG number? Have tried renumbering to no avail.
    has anyone resolved this issue?
This is now the second big Problem with using Apple's Appeture with NO apparent FIX...
Aperture has NO DIRECT way to Burn to a CD/DVD & apparently NO way to RE-SEQUENCE the numbering system????
ANYONE... I wish APPLE would address/fix these 2 problems... LIGHTROOM I guess is next?

    Hi David,
Coming in and whining loudly is rude.  We are all volunteers here, voluntarily sharing our expertise so that users like you can make the most of their time with Aperture.  Speaking just for myself:  although I do care about your success with software (it's why I'm here), I don't care what software you use.  If you want to use Lightroom, do so, and post your questions in an appropriate forum.
Burning files to a CD is a file operation done at the system level (it is built into OS X).  Aperture lets your create sharable image-format files from your Images.  You then use OS X's tools to burn those files to a CD.  Iirc, you can set up a "Burn Folder" in Finder, into which you can export files created from your Images, and with a single click burn your CD.
Naming the files you create by exporting your Images can be tricky.  There are _many_ possibilities.  Some things can't be done.  Sequencing can be done in a number of ways (see Léonie's answer above).  What have you tried?  What was the result?  In what way did this differ from what you expected?

  • Export all sql reports in a region to csv or pdf

    Hello there,
I have a region on a particular page in apex and that region has about 12 different sql query reports.
I have enabled csv option for each of them so there are 12 links to export each report. However
I would like to have only 1 link which will save the contents of all the reports to csv or pdf. The
column headings are different for some of these reports but wanted to know if something like this
    is possible.
Thanks in advance for reading this.

You might try wrapping the regions in html regions that essentially give you the ability to specify a valign=top for the report regions.
So, your regions look like this:
    30 Report Start - contains region source = (div)<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tr><td valign="top">
40 Approved Tests Report (Column 2) Conditional
    45 Report 2 Start - contains </td><td valign="top">
60 Unapproved Tests Report (Column 2) Conditional
    65 Report 3 Start - contains </td><td valign="top">
80 Approved Count by Build Report (Column 2) Conditional
    85 Report End - contains "</td></tr></table>(/div)"
Replace () with the angle brackets
Maybe there is a more elegant solution with templates or page level CSS or something..
    But that should work.

  • Export to PDF ignores document size settings?

I have several documents in InDesign CS4 and when I export them to PDF the document size changes.
I have set all the following options to A4 (210x297mm):
    In Indesign: File->Document Settings
    In Windows->Printer settings->Adobe PDF->Paper Size
After exporting and opening in Reader 9 the document size has changed to 210 x 303.3mm

  • Disgrace: no error msg when GB fails to export to mp3

Gb does not create the mp3 file when exporting to mp3 and does not give any warning or error msg.
Trying to find why this is so, I see several posts in several forums, I believe the oldest I saw dates back 2007.
I think it's a disgrace! This problem exists for so long. It costs so many people so much time. It is such a clear sign of poor listening to customers and poor testing.
I used to be a Mac/Apple fan, dating back to mid-1980's as Apple user.
But this is so infuriating! It's plainly disrespectful.
Yes, now I know, I read the thread. "I think it is 27 characters max file name but not sure"
Why do we not get an error msg when the file can not be saved?
Give me any valid reason to create so much trouble for so many customers! (non-technical reason I mean, I know the techy problems that may make this more
difficult than it looks on the surface...)
This is especialy wrong since it is by no means anything esotheric. Right the first project you do, without doing anything fancy or weird. Just type normal descriptive name and it fails. Without warning or error.
    AAAARRRGGGG!
    Shame on you Garageband team!

I just came in here to report the very same thing, except in my case it may be due to the very large number of (approx 1000) frames in the movie I've created.
I successfully did smaller versions of the same thing (a series of same size/format logos) but it just goes through the motions (saying it is creating a 9.8mb movie) and saves nothing.
Is there some unstated upper limit on the number of frames when making a slideshow?
I've said it before but Quicktime is the one of the most poorly written and documented Apple apps I've encountered. The amount of time I have wasted on doing even the simplest things...

  • Multi-suggestions/questions/problem: (1)garageBand: working with cycle regions; (2) ToS note;  (3) apple user accounts

    (1) GarageBand:  "Working with Cycle Regions"
Preamble:  Cycle regions are very nice.  Thank you for recycling the concept.  That'd probably be great (unless you argue it'd be 'enabling') to include libraries of scripts that work with cycle regions  ('such as' note 1).  Thank you for cycle regions in GarageBand.
"'such as' note 1"   if C[i] is a cycle region, C[1] is the first take, C[2] the second take...
The ability to select/program different values of i for C[i] emplacements from a controller box, that could accomodate basic scripts that select i values from libraries, or generate them by simple formulas, or generate them by taking values from an "input text document" that could be easy output from basic custom software.
Issue:  Basic improvements to cycle region management.  Currently, if I want to know what music is in C[i], I have to set the i value from a drop down menu by clicking on the region.  If I want to search for that passage, I have to maximially do that n many times (n = the number of cycles per cycle region).  One faster way to search would be to allow pasting of sequential +1 iteration-wise cuts from that cycle region, and fast forwarding through that, or whatever.  Another way, is that while recording, some visual notification could be present, telling me which take # is being recorded.  (Maybe die-hard musicians used to counting don't worry about it.)
    (2) Terms of Service  Issue
An "email Terms of Service" button would be nice.
Also, a "readers digest" cliff notes version of practical center points would be nice.  Such could come with disclaimers that the notes don't necessarily reflect views of apple, although could be popularized "3rd party watchdog sides" that rate applicability of such disclaimers.
    (3) Apple User Account
Some third party algorithm generated this user name.  I never wrote that in myself.  What is that about?  Is my account security in some crisis?
    Thanks!

Please reply and let me know i if this was helpful or I am missing something. this worked for me and it has been about a week and my backups are still running.

  • Copy or export a list of the titles you give to edits?

I make rough edits for radio commercials on Garageband, and then my audio engineer uses my Garageband edit as a "map" for his master edit.
One of the steps is to write down the name of each edit in sequence on the track; I name them by TIME followed by a PHRASE - "03.78.111 The next time", etc.
Does anyone know a way to automatically export a LIST of the names of your edits in sequence?
    Thanks.

I don't think you can do that in GarageBand.
Logic has a neat feature where it adds metadata to the aiff file when bouncing a song. It embeds the Tempo and Markers of you project in the aiff file. When you import that file into another Logic projects, it asked you if you want to import that data. This way you could add your notes as Markers in your project (similar to GarageBand's Arrange Region) and that text will be carried with the bounced aiff file.
    Hope that helps

  • Should a clone copy mirror comp changes made to the parent region?

    Hi
I've just made a clone copy of a region (song chorus) and I was hoping that if I made a change to the comp of the parent region that this would be mirrored in the copy. But that isn't happening. Is this something that should happen, and if so, can anyone suggest what the problem might be?

    sorry... for misunderstanding
I assume you were talking about Midi Region Aliases!!!
are you talking about Audio TakeComp logic 8.0.x (known bugs) feature?
in the audio take comp feature there are at least 3 or 4 known bugs...
this is historically bug Guinness Book of Records... there are more than 4 bugs only in the take comp feature i think...
I just think because simply, I never use take comp when tracking with Logic 8...
I use only Logic 7 way for this particular function!!!
    So I really don't know...
    I'm sorry
usually if I need to copy the same comp editing I do the following:
Bypass all unecessary plugins in the CH strip inserts and i select the region...
Than I click on the rigth mouse button... scrolling the options to select Export region as Audio file...
the file will be in the Audio bin already edited!
    I'm not a clone lovers
I love to touch with my hands the real regions (of my girl friend, of course)
    done!
    Good Luck!

  • 'f4v' export bit rate ignored, but 'flv' OK - general bug?

I have been testing the f4v and flv export options in P.Pro CS5.
If I use a FLV preset, note down the video bit-rate and the audio bit rate, then the exported file comes out the expected file size.
If I use the equivalent F4V preset, the file comes out 2 to 3 times larger than it should.
Test source is 720*576 16:9 avi, 25 fps, length 16 seconds.
    Web preset of 900kbps selected:
    Output f4v 768*432 using 900 kbs (850 video +48 audio) produces 3694kb file = 1.80 megabits per sec.
Output flv 768*432 using 900 kbs (804 video +96 audio) produces 1943kb file = 0.95 megabits per sec.
    So I have 2 observations:
    1) f4v seems to be inefficient compared to flv - but to keep things simple, I won't compare apples with pears.
    2) For a given data rate (900kbps in this case), that should be the output, regardless of image size, frame rate, index frames etc etc.
I have done a number of other tests on P.Pro for f4v and flv presets which shows f4v to be 2* the file size it should be.
The preset 'name' reciting 900 kbps ties in exactly with the video/audio components in custom panels, so it's not a case of pre-sets having wrong names.
I have aAdditionally I have done similar tests in encore CS5's new export feature, where f4v is up to 3.5 * bigger than it should be for stated data-rate.
(Yes, I have ignored the index and swf files etc produced by encore from this calculation).
I am expecting this to be a general bug, so would be interested to know if others encounter same problem, before requesting adobe to fix the software.
Format f4v did not exist on CS2 and seems to be OK on CS4, so this is purely a CS5 question.

    Thank-you Jim.
    PP version 5.0.3.
    AME 5.0.1.0
Good thinking on version number, I just did a small update, following CS5 instalation/update 1 month ago.
I was already on same version numbers and the 20mb 'extension' update hasn't changed anything.
I usually export direct ftom PP, haven't got in to the habit of using AME yet, though with new fast pc and small test clips I haven't really needed it, but tried via AME to see if had different results but resulting file is 3706KB (1943 KB via flv).
The 'expected file size says 1MB (though 2MB would be nearest integer for expected results).
Importing f4v output back into PP, properties give me:
    File Path: D:\adobe_tests\z1e_1_768_432_900.f4v
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 3.6 MB
    Image Size: 768 x 432

Project Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00:00:16:01
Average Data Rate: 231 KB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
I gave it a try with no audio and output is 3597KB, so it's not something wierd in audio codec.
Your NTSC content being around 25% bigger no doubt means more compression to maintain preset data rate, which is to be expected.
I don't have any 30 fps content, so did tests using 30fps output, from same preset and same 25fps source.
I don't have any NTSC frame rate media, but I used a 25fps source/sequence and selected output as 30fps which still resulted in an oversize file, but less drastic at 2.6MB (flv 2273KB for 25fps to 30 fps output, other things equal).
    File Path: D:\adobe_tests\z1e_1_768_432_900_30fps.f4v
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 2.6 MB
    Image Size: 768 x 432
    Pixel Depth: 32
    Frame Rate: 30.00
Source Audio Format: 44100 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00:00:16:01
Average Data Rate: 165 KB / second

There is little more I can think of to check as the mysterious bit is in the black hole of dll's.
A few more cross checks please Jim:
    I am on win7 pro 64 bit.
Codec on output for f4v preset is Mainconcept H.264 Video.

How to join regions without deleting notes in the right region?
Every time I try to join two regions, the notes in the right region are cut, even though both regions are on the same track and are touching each other.
This is so frustrating. I searched on some other sites and Garageband Help section, but for some bizarre reason, I can't find any explanation of this basic topic.
    Tony

Tony, the two Regions in your screenshot (green, yellow) are Take Regions (they have a Take number in the reft upper corner), which are Regions that contain multiple Regions and you can select any one to be the active (played) Region. You cannot merge those Regions. You have to delete the unwanted Regions inside first. click on the number, select the Region you want and then click again and select "Delete unused Takes"
If you don't want to create Take Regions, select the "Cycle Recording" checkbox in the Preferences ➤ General Window
