Disgrace: no error msg when GB fails to export to mp3

Gb does not create the mp3 file when exporting to mp3 and does not give any warning or error msg.
Trying to find why this is so, I see several posts in several forums, I believe the oldest I saw dates back 2007.
I think it's a disgrace! This problem exists for so long. It costs so many people so much time. It is such a clear sign of poor listening to customers and poor testing.
I used to be a Mac/Apple fan, dating back to mid-1980's as Apple user.
But this is so infuriating! It's plainly disrespectful.

Why do we not get an error msg when the file can not be saved?
Give me any valid reason to create so much trouble for so many customers! (non-technical reason I mean, I know the techy problems that may make this more
difficult than it looks on the surface...)
This is especialy wrong since it is by no means anything esotheric. Right the first project you do, without doing anything fancy or weird. Just type normal descriptive name and it fails. Without warning or error.

I just came in here to report the very same thing, except in my case it may be due to the very large number of (approx 1000) frames in the movie I've created.
I successfully did smaller versions of the same thing (a series of same size/format logos) but it just goes through the motions (saying it is creating a 9.8mb movie) and saves nothing.
Is there some unstated upper limit on the number of frames when making a slideshow?
I've said it before but Quicktime is the one of the most poorly written and documented Apple apps I've encountered. The amount of time I have wasted on doing even the simplest things...

What happened to export to mp3 in Garageband 10?

Previously Garageband allowed you to export to mp3 by clicking Share>Export to Disk> MP3 encoder, this seems to be missing in the new version. Anyone know how to get it back?

you can not open files from Garageband X back into Garageband 6
BUT
i have found it very useful to open both applicatiions at once
the recording studo garagebandX
- most of the filtres are a bit more refined and the interface is that much more sophisticated - access to all the Garageband 6 filtres are through legacy and it is a more enjoyable environment in which to work
mixing studio
bounce the tracks to itunes - (often combining voices that make sense into one track (strings example) - which results in smaller file sizes
- then create a mix track in garageband6 by dragging the tracks from the mediabrowser.
export with full capability
i've only been doing this for two weeks since i discovered this inconvienience to customers but as far as i can tell the production quality for upload is equal. and there is the added bonus of making a natural streamlining of tracks that is a little like having a good technician at your side !
and most importantly the full access to the customisation of .mp3 files.

Does anyone know how to do this (exporting itunes mp3 converted music to sdhc card) ? I want to play some of the music in a car stereo. Detailed help would be appreciated. Thanks much Ideally want to have music in playlist type format on CD card.

any old music that has the protection on it will not transfer. nothing you can do but move forward... apple was forced to remove the protection and thats why new music will transfer

Garageband stopped exporting to Mp3.Help!

As the title says, Gargeband stopped exporting to Mp3. (Export to Disk)
It goes thru all the steps and the exported file is nowhere. I've tried different folders, desktop, etc, and the file, again, is nowhere.
Any help is appreciated.

I have a similar setup. You can drag and drop files directly from the iTunes Library main window to the SD Card as it shows in the Finder.
In my setup i have an SD card named 'PODCASTS'. I just drag and drop songs from iTunes Library Window to the SD Card icon in the Finder, and it copies them onto the card.
Just size the main iTunes window so you can see your SD card on the desktop to the right. You can drag and drop things from iTunes right onto the SD icon in the Finder.
Fat32 has a limited number of files it can take at the top level directory, so you might want to create folders on the card and put the songs in there. I can get hundreds more songs on an SD card that way, and my Sony car stereo treats the folders as 'Albums'.

Why do I sometimes get an error message when trying to export as mp3 file?

I'm using a Intel Core Duo Imac 2 Ghz with 2 meg memory and just upgraded to iLife 08. I was excited to see that Garageband will now let you save/export your projects as MP3 files. But I sometimes get an error message, i.e., -46 or some such number, when I try to save/export the project to iWeb. What is causing this? If I save the same project as an AAC file everything is fine. Go figure. I was really looking forward to Apple doing this in this release and won't be happy until it works perfectly. For your information I record a audio podcast and export the recorded file to iWeb and publish the site to .mac. So I'm a loyal Apple customer. My site is a gay oriented website and the new features of iWeb , including Photo albums can be viewed there. I'll email the link to anyone interested.

I know man what your saying. I should have written it down when it happened last night. I figured if anyone had had the same issue they might know the reason. I'll try doing a test recording today and see if the same issue arises. Meanwhile, if anyone has this happen to them please let me know. Thanks

I want to export only MP3 formatted songs to my SD card.

I bought a new power pod 360 speaker that will play music on a SD card. It only supports MP3 format, and I changed the format on all of my iTunes music library today. It actually left the original and added the new version underneath. However, I am unable to export only the MP3 songs to the SD card. Can anyone help?

Good, you have rectified your past mistakes. In the future, please make sure that all music that you purchase, rip, or otherwise acquire is in MP3 format, and you will avoid this problem.

Put your Music library in Songs View, and look at the Kind column. (If you don't have a Kind column, enable it via View > Show View Options.) Any song with a Kind of MPEG audio file is an MP3.

Batch export to MP3??

So, I am in the process of recording 1000 short dialogues russian-english using the podcast feature... but I need all these to end up as MP3. Is there some way to batch export/convert all the files (PLEASE!) While it only takes 1-2 minutes to export a files for 1000 files this could take me hours. Any advice woud be greatly appreciated!!!!!

GB won't Export to Mp3

I go to Share>Export Song To Disk
It will mix down, then normalize, then it quits and does not convert, and as a result, does not save
Howver it does so for the AAC encoding no problem

I had to convert to AAC, then convert to mp3 in Itunes
I would prefer to do this directly from GB, though, as it has worked up till now

try turning off the auto-normalize option

that is the worst way to do it. if you are forced to, export it uncompressed and convert THAT instead.

Export as mp3 ignores the cycle region

When I try to export a portion of the multitrack file based on the cycle region as an mp3 file, it ignores the region and exports to the end, even though only the short clip is soloed. After export, it turns off cycle region. When I export as aiff, it honors the cycle region? Any thoughts? Anyone else experience this?

Hi - Im just wondering did you solve this issue? I am trying to export a selection of video as a podcast using the i/o poitns of cycle. When I export, it exports the whole video file and not the selection. Any ideas?

Final Cut Pro Audio Levels Low when exporting to mp3 and mp4

Hi everyone! When I export audio from Final Cut as an mp3, my levels are very low. When I export footage as an mp4, the audio is low as well. But before exporting, my levels are right at or below 0. So they are where they should be. So for example, when I open the audio in Adobe Audion or Logic, they could almost be doubled before peaking within those programs. Could this be a compression issue? And input would be helpful. Thanks!

Are you working 0n 10.0.9? If not, update FCPX and see whether that solves the problem.

Export to MP3, AIFF, etc.

I know this may be a stupid question, but I'm just a newbie. Anyway my question is this: I just recorded a song (8 different tracks) and I just can't figure out how to get a mixdown and export a final product. I can get each individual track but that's not what I want! I'm sure it's really obvious but your help is much appreciated

What you need to do is:
Read the section in the manual about "BOUNCING"
At the bottom of your Stereo Outputs 1-2 you will find the little Bounce button - hit that or assign a Keycommand to it - a menue opens - determine the Locators / starting and end point of your project - choose a format like wav/aiff (PCM) or MP3 or whatever you want - choose Bit depth/Sample rate - select if you want to bounce in realtime or offline - bounce.

When exporting audio files, both a .wav file and .mp3 file are exported for each audio instance listed in the Library.
Why are there two different versions of the same audio?
Does Captivate utilize both?

Thanks for that answer! Can we take it one step further and clarify something please?
Imagine that one has a MP3 file they successfully import into Captivate. It gets converted to WAV upon import. If the user does not modify it in any way during the edit process, is the same MP3 used when publishing? Or is it modified in any way going back out?

Use TC effect in video. (burn in)
Everyone has a video player...not everyone has a TC audio reader.
