"Export Audio To Movie" is out of sync - please help.

Hi
I recently upgraded to LP8.01 and am trying to put audio (sound design) to a piece of animation.
Despite the audio being perfectly sync'ed in Logic, when I bounce to Quicktime, the audio is anything from 0.5 to 1 seconds late in the resulting movie. The pice has lots of really quick edits and sound FX, so it can't work unless it's perfectly locked.
Does anybody have any tips or advice on how to get this working correctly? I've tried bouncing in chunks, starting before the movie file, after the movie file start, just the middle bit - none of the resulting movies are in time.
Many thanks for any help.
Jules

Please - gotta bump this because I'm really desperate to get this working.
Any help or ideas .....?

  • Export audio to movie is out of sync!

Does anyone know what might cause a Logic song exported to audio in a QT movie to be out of sync with the picture in the resulting bounce?

Before you open the movie in Logic, open it up in Quicktime. Click on the movie and then press Cmd-I for the Movie Info screen. This will tell you the frame rate and other useful stuff about the file.
In Logic, set up your sync settings to match, then open the movie. You should have no problems then.

Please help, i movie is not exporting or sharing movies, it will closed unexpectedly please help?

    Hi Videoframe
This was emailed to Apple Support on 23 DEc 2012 at 09:50 Eastern Australia time.
"I continued to talk to other Apple Mac users on iMovie….Interesting to have found out that their movies were made using iDVD without any known issues as yet…Looking at the results from Apple Support Forum and Youtube, problems appears to be when NOT using iDVD. I and many others can't understand how these many technical problems were overlooked by the programmers of iMovie. One would have thought iMovie problems have been iron out prior to getting rid of iDVD. By the way when I first contacted Apple Support back on 16th Nov, I was told I need to RE-INSTALL my computer…..that I did and in the process my iDVD was removed and never was re-installed.
May I suggest you delegate a junior person or someone string together a project consisting over near 1700 images, approx. 25mins of video footage, titles and including with and without transitions then export the project.
I am still in the dark as to what is being done about this extended non result. I am not sure if is known by the people who is in charge of this iMovie programme. it would be nice to get some sort of feedback. Not sure if I should refer this to a third party to do the testing?? I am sure Apple's competitors would love to make a mockery of this.
There has to be a time frame for this to end, as I and many others can't simply sit here in the dark and wait for someone to come back for a solution, this could be months or years who knows.  As you can appreciate I am not the only user anxiously waiting for a solution.
I guess I am in a way representing other worldwide users in pursuing a solution on this matter ASAP. I therefore ask you to please make this a priority if this is at all possible.
    Many thanks."
I've been corresponding to them since Fri 16th Nov on and off without a solution.

  • Upon export, audio and video are out of sync.

While editing, my cuts are lined up with beats in the music, but after export they shift approximately 5 frames, making my cuts appear later.
The Sequence settings match the clip settings at 23.976 fps, and i've tried just about everything I can think of to fix the issue.
I've reverted back to previous Autosaves of the project, tried numerous export settings, separate and new projects, different machines, but nothing seems to work.
At this point I'll take any and all suggestions.

Please UN-check the "Frame Blending" box, that is only used when changing frame rates. The source and export are both 23.976, so that can only cause issues (blurring between frames with motion). Also uncheck "Max Render Quality", that is used for SCALING, such as 1080 to 720, or HD to SD. Your source and destination are both 1080p.
Rule of thumb - do NOT check boxes unless you really know what they do and the results they provide - the DEFAULT settings are there for a reason ;-)
Also, I never use "Match Source" - rather, figure out where the video is going (Blu-ray, web, device, etc.) and find an appropriate PRESET - there are tons of them under "H.264".
I'm assuming the video source is also 23.976? If source doesn't match sequence settings, that can be an issue with sync.
Try exporting entire sequence rather than In to Out. Try EXPORT rather than Queue.
Last thing, what is the source of the video footage? Some phones use "Variable Bitrate" recording and Premiere is not equipped to deal with that very well.

  • Watching multiple audio track movies on Apple TV. PLEASE HELP...

Hi, I hope somebody can help since I haven't been able to find any answer to this.
When I rip a movie (with Handbrake) from one of my DVDs to place it into my iTunes library, I have the possibility to chose to extract different Audio Language Tracks. In fact, once the rip is done, I have a movie in iTunes that has two tracks (2 languages) in my case English and Spanish.
Now, when I sync it to AppleTV, I always can only watch the movie in english. I don't want to lose the english track, but I do want to watch the movie in Spanish on my ATV.
Is there a way to chose the Audio for multiple track movies on ATV? (ITunes does let you chose).
    Thanks for the help.
    Rheex

Because it wasn't devised with you ripping DVDs in mind, and certainly since Take 2.0 update the focus is on rentals.
It would be logical to offer multiple soundtracks/subtitles etc, but they would add to download size which will be an issue for some people - seems more likely they would offer soundtrack options other than Englisg outside US - ie choose English or another language to rent but not both.

  • Can't move Photos out of Newstand - please help!

My 2-year old dragged Photos icon into Newstand. I finally found it there, with a sigh of relieve; however, now I can't for the life of me drag it anywhere at all, be it home pages or the taskbar on the bottom. What am I to do? Thanks.

Frankly, I don't even know if that would work. It is the only way that I can think of to try without restoring the iPad to factory settings.
As you now know, the Newsstand folder was not meant to be used for apps other than those that are designed to work with Newsstand. Getting the photos app out of there should be problematic because it is not meant to be placed into it.
Now having said all that stuff that you already know anyway - Have you tried creating another folder right next to Newsstand and then open Newsstand and try as fast as you can to move the photos app into that new folder?

  • Export Audio to Movie - NOT IN SYNC ANYMORE in 9.1??

This is either a major, major bug or I am completely out of it.
When I do an export audio to movie command, the resulting Quicktime movie has the audio and video not synced as they were in Logic.
I have just upgraded to 9.1 and Snow Leopard 10.6.2 this week. I am having this problem with the 32-bit version of Logic.
Most of my sessions have the movie start time pushed forward or back to suit the start of the audio. I had NO problem in 9.0.2 with this feature.
ALSO.... what's the deal with the the 64-bit Audio bridge plug-in windows? Do we always have to do a double-click to open the actual GUI now-on? Totally s**ks.
    Thanks.

Are the movie start times and sequence start times the same? For example, do both the music and the audio start at beat 1, bar 1?
I've found that Logic 9 doesn't maintain the same sync that your project has. In other words, if your video doesn't have a 'pre-roll', but your audio has a one bar count in, then the "bounce to movie" feature will have audio that is out by 1 bar. It's kinda dumb, because Logic should be smart enough to know you want to export the same audio/video sync as you have in your project. But alas it doesn't work that way...
Other possible culprits are latency-inducing plugs on the master bus, like limiters and 3rd party DSP plugins (UAD, Duende, etc).
One workaround I've started using is to bounce my audio mix first, then bring it back on a clean track and trim it to start on the exact same frame as the movie. Then solo the 'mix' audio track and "export to movie" (being sure to bypass any master buss plugins first, so the mix doesn't get processed a 2nd time). this usually works, and also makes it easier to keep track of revised mixes as you go ahead (just make copies of your 'mix' track and mute earlier versions).
    good luck.

  • Photo Booth Audio and Video are out of sync?

Hi. So there is this glitch that when I take videos on Photo Booth the audio and video are out of sync. This started after I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and since I use Photo Booth a lot, I really do care. Is there anyway that I can fix this until Apple fixes this bug? Thanks.
Extra Info: The first video I took was not out of sync, but after that they got more and more out of sync.

I've read all the forums. It's a big problem for most Photobooth users, Apple acknowledges it, but does not yet have a fix.
The best solution I have come up with is to dump Photobooth (I know - it was a great program, wasn't it? But so was Hypercard) and use Quicktime to make videos. You'll have to spend a little more work savings or exporting, but at least Quicktime is free.
Just open Quicktime Player and under the File menu you'll see "Record New Movie."

  • Final Export of a Project Slightly Out Of Sync

    Hi there,
I'm trying to find an answer to what seems to be a common issue when exporting projects out of Final Cut Pro X, however I haven't yet found any answers that work or that tell me things I don't already know (don't mean to sound know-it-all though).
The issue is that after I have exported my project, the audio and video are out of sync. It doesn't drift as the video goes on; it's out of sync by the same amount from start to end. Of course, when editing and viewing the project in Final Cut, the sync is fine.
The project was created from scratch with the Apple ProRes 422 setting, the two original camera angles were both 25p, the audio I'm using is 48K/24bit which the project is setup as also. The audio was originally recorded at 48k/24bit and mixed seperately in Pro Tools and was exported as a wave file (48K/24bit) and brought back into Final Cut.
I can't think of what else to describe. All the project settings and the original footage and audio setting are exactly matched. There's no frame rate changes, no audio resolution changes, no MP3 in the mix, no apparent issue when viewing/editiing in the project, and I even tried optimising the video and exporting just to see if that made any difference.
I usually listen to the audio via an RME souncard which is setup to be low latency. However, whether I view the project and then export via the external audio interface, or view the project and export via the laptop speakers (with not extrernal audio interface connected) it's the same result: slightly out of sync video!
If anyone has any ideas I would be most grateful.
    Cheers,
    Chris

    Hey Russ,
Thanks for your time. When I say a 'common issue' I found that when I searched it both on Google as well as this support forum I found multiple threads and questions pertaining to this issue of sync and/or drift.
I tested this single angle idea by using the footage in a nother project and exporting part of that (without changing angles) and it seemed to be OK. However I have other projects which are only single angle but they export slightly out of sync as well. I haven't found a common denominator yet.
When I say out of sync, it's not dramatic, however it's always the same - the audio is just a few frames behind the video. This has happened with most of my projects using different footage and different audio, etc. No matter what setting audio and video are recorded at, and regardless of whether I dramaticallty colourise or add effects to the video or not, it's always the same result; slightly behind audio when exported.
With regard to presets, do you meet export settings? If so, I'm mostly exporting using H.264 and as a Quicktime Move (AAC) output. I've tried various resolution changes and tinkering but nothing has changed.
If you're referring to project setup presets, I can't really change too many things because obviously the audio resolution and video frame rates are predetermined so I can't try 25p footage in a 30p project, etc.
    Thanks again,
    Chris

  • Audio goes in and out of sync when burned dvd played on standard DVD player

I made a short film recently (7:00 mins) and once completed and burned to DVD using iDVD and DVD Studio Pro about 20% of the clips have out of sync audio. Just slightly out of sync. Some more noticeable than others.
Playing off the timeline syncs perfect, the exported prores 422 mov file syncs perfectly, and if the finished DVD is played on my mac or my pc the sync is perfect, but when played on a standard dvd player to my TV I get the syncing problem, but only at certain points through the film. As I said, about 20% of it. The rest of the film is fine.
Shot on Canon 5d mkII - footage converted to prores 422 1920x1080. Audio recorded on Zoom H4N with some ADR recorded on logic pro. Audio synced manually using clapper board reference. Using a 27'iMac with current OSX update as of 14 March 2011. Edited in FCP 7, exported to proress 422, burned to DVD with current iDVD and DVD Studio Pro, all current versions and updates.
I have tried exporting to mpg4 and mpg2 - no joy. I checked audio bit rates and discovered the logic recorded stuff was 44.1khz as opposed to 48, so I converted to 48 but still no fix.
    I am STUMPPED
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers
    Dallas

Should I convert just the clips which are out of sync in the DVD, or all of theclips in the FCP timeline?
If that is the issue, wouldn't I have the problem in the final prores mov as opposed to just when its played dvd to tv?
Ill try it though. Its an odd problem so its likely to have an odd solution. Willing to try anything at this point.
    Thank you.

  • HELP! : No "Export Audio To Movie" option

    Hi
I've just finished a sync project and need to 'export' to movie. When I go to the file menu or right click on the movie track, the "Export Audio to Movie" function is not there.
PLEASE can anybody help. I have to deliver the pitch tonight. I'm running 9.1.3 64bit.
    Many thanks
    Jules

Mike is right. The reason why Logic9 doesn't have the Export Audio To Movie feature is the current state of Quicktime. Remember that the basic video capabilities of Logic are not written into the Logic code but outsourced to the Quicktime components in OSX (Don't invent the wheel twice). Based on a statement by Steve Jobs, the new Final Cut version should arrive in 2011 and you might think it will be 64bit, dragging QuickTime along with it, followed by a quick Logic update - maybe.
If this helps, here is my current workaround:
I work in 64bit with a separate project file for each music cue on a video based project. When I'm done, I bounce the audio.
Now I have also one master project, that also uses the current video and has the exact (important) sync settings. I use that project to import each previously bounced audio cue. If your sync settings are the same with all the individual projects and the master projects then you can import one or many audio files and with one command "Move to original recording position" all the audio files line up perfectly in sync.
_The advantages of that master project_:
    1) You run that project in 32bit mode and therefore are able to use "Export audio to movie"
    2) You can make rough mixes of your video (audio against dialog) for approvals or your own reference. Having these little videos with you at the dubbing stage can take prove very easy if the music editor messed up your cue.
    3) You can export videos of individual cues, sections or the whole video (at least reels, if the movie is broken down in separate reels)
    4) Easy handling/mixing of separate cues that overlap
    5) Quick comparison of different versions of a cue which of course are all imported into the master project6)- Quick timing references for Cue Sheet preperation
    7) In case of a picture edit, this the master project is also an amazing tool to figure out how messed up your music will be with the new picture cut. Im

  • An old "export audio to movie" bug returns in 9.02?

    Hey
Maybe it's just me, but I could've sworn they'd fixed this one...
I remember for a while when you'd use the "export audio to movie" feature, the sound would sometimes be about half a second late. Then that was apparently fixed... But now it's back again in 9.02
My previous work around was to bounce the audio mix, then drag it back into the timeline as a stereo .aif file. I'd solo that track, make sure PDC is set to "ALL" then use 'Export Audio to Movie'.
And - before you ask - no, there were no latency inducing plugs on the master output bus. No limiters, gates, in fact no plugs at all on this particular project.
No matter what I did, the Quicktime bounce was always out of sync. When I just 'play' the project, the 2-pop from my audio and the video cue beep/flash frame line up perfectly. Everything plays back fine. But when I use "Export Audio to Movie", my Logic soundtrack is about half a second late throughout.
Anyone else notice this? Any suggested fixes?
I know some people are having a great time with L9, but I'm sorry to say I'm solidly in the "sorry I upgraded" camp.
I'm starting to appreciate L8 more every day...

    iSchwartz wrote:
You can work around this problem in QT without having to deal with Logic at all, provided your film has a timecode burn. Open the movie in QT. Trim it down if necessary. Assuming your 2-pop is what your cue starts off with (with no dead audio before it), open your 2-mix in QT, select ALL, CMD-C copy. Now your mix is in the clipboard. Back to the movie window, set the playhead of the movie so that you're seeing the desired start frame. Use CMDOPTV to place the music into the movie. Trim the movie as needed. Export.
If you want to save the movie, be sure to save it under a new name. Saving as a proxy (reference) will save disk space.
Good tip - thanks. Unfortunately, this film doesn't have a time code burn. And while I've used the method above in the past, I always find it a little finicky to make exact trims in QT because you don't have the fine frame-by-frame control sometimes... I think.
But the thing is, I exported audio to movies with perfect sync all summer long in L8. I did about 60 cues for one client this summer, all with quicktimes, and not a single problem.
Now, since "upgrading" to 9, I can't get the audio to export with the same sync it has on playback no matter what I do. Sure seems like a bug to me....
I'm going to try some more experiments today if I get time. I want to see if changing buffer sizes or PDC settings has any effect....
    Hm.

  • Exported mixes from STP drift out of sync

STP seems to have a mind of it's own. Mixes that use to export fine are now drifting out of sync over time, about 2 seconds over fifteen minutes. If I export the mix either directly from STP or through Compressor, it drifts.
However if I export with video (through Compressor), the audio is in sync properly.
Does anyone on the STP team have a clue as to what this might be? It's driving us nuts!
    Michael Buday

Thanks Gavin. I often do the same thing, export projects with a large number of tracks through Compressor because exporting directly from STP is just too unreliable (missing EFX, keyframe levels/pans missed entirely, etc.)
I tried exporting as usual through Compressor using the standard 48:16 preset, but again - drift. When I then switched to PRESERVE VIDEO with the same audio settings, the sync was fine. This is a workaround, but a real pain in the butt because I then have to extract the audio out of the .mov file. Not rocket science, but just too many steps to do all the time.
The weird thing is, this has happened only three times out of about 50 projects, but once it occurs, it's as if the project is corrupted in some way and it never exports properly again.

  • Exporting Audio to Movie, doesn;t export the audio

When I try Option>Movie>Export Audio to movie It rendereds but doesn't actully put the music into the video. Worked in 7.1 doesn;t work in 7.2.1 any plans on fixing this?

Indeed, thats what I do, but the time saving and
simiplicity of the 'Export audio to movie..."
function puts it at the top of the 'features that
really should work' for us composers to picture!
Hopefully it will be fixed soon with an update.
It's not broken. To be sure I went and tried it myself
and it worked fine. I did not even have to set the
locators, which I thought I would have to. I just dropped
the movie on a project and went to the menu. It did bring
up some dialog box I had not seen before. Something about
adding the tracks to use. It only showed track 1 but since I
could not figure out how to add the tracks I just hit OK and
it rendered all of them. Hope you get yours back up.

  • Audio and video is out of sync!

when I record audio and video together with my isight built in camera on my macbook pro with either quicktime pro, photobooth or imovie, when I play the clip back the audio and video is out of sync! like watching a kung foo movie. I've tried everything, I've taken my book into see a "Genius" at thew mac store and he said to me that the isight is made really for video conferencing and is really not supposed to be fully in sync? Uhh thats weird, so mac makes a product and puts it on all their laptops and it only sort of works?? I've been on the phone with apple care, did a bunch of things like disk utility repairs on permisions, then used the startup disk to do another permisions repair. I've uninstalled quicktime pro and re-installed it a couple of times? If anyone could give me some advice that would be great! I'm a little frustrated as you can probably see! thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, m
See if any of the suggestions offered here reduce your sync quality problem enough:
      http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7089133&#7089133
If, after making certain that your Mac is running well, has plenty of free space on the correct drive, etc., your sync is still not close enough, you can manually re-sync any parts that are unacceptable to you using either QT Pro or iMovie.
If you check carefully, you will see that not even pro video is always perfectly synced. It is a lot of work to get things "nearly perfect," but, with a bit of practice, it doesn't take long to get things "close enough" for me.
I use the same simple process with either QT Pro or iMovie, so you can use whichever you find easiest. Whichever you use, keep the original AV clip safe and *_work on a copy_* in case something goes wrong.
If you do not already know how, here is my process, but you can adjust for your workflow:
    (1) Copy of the audio track.
    (2) Add the audio track copy to the AV file.
    (3) Silence the original audio and work on audio copy.
    (4) Insert small blank audio clips (or split and slide if using iMovie) if needed to make the audio later.
    (5) Cut small bits out of quiet parts (or split and shorten in iMovie) if needed to make audio sooner.
    (6) Repeat until satisfied and delete any tracks no longer needed.
    (7) Save the adjusted AV file.
    (8) Enjoy!
