Export .avi from Mac Premiere CS4

I need to export or somehow achieve an end product of an .avi file from my Mac Premiere CS4. Can anyone help?

Either get a PC for that job or export as MOV and convert to an AVI wrapper.

  • Suddenly Media Encoder won't export to .avi from a Premiere Pro sequence

Came back to work today and out of the blue Media Encoder just won't export to .avi from a Premiere Pro sequence. Working with CS5 on Windows 7. That was the last thing I did yesterday before leaving work and it worked just fine, and it has always worked without any problems ever since I upgraded from CS4.
Here are the steps I always take: go to Export-->Media from the Premiere Pro sequence and the settings open up, I select Microsoft AVI - PAL DV, click the queue button, AME opens up but nothing loads, the queue remains empty and nothing happens.
I tried the same but selected MPEG-2 instead and it works that way.
I also tried opening the sequence directly from AME and it does it but it doesn't give me the option to export it to Microsoft AVI, it's just not on the list.
I deleted all preferences and old metadata options saved from all applications but that didn't help.
Didn't install any updates whatsoever that might have changed anything at all from yesterday till now.
If anyone knows what the problem might be and how to fix it, that will be truly appreciated, thanks in advance.

After a couple of hours going through the registry and every folder and file inside "Program Files--Adobe--Media Encoder CS5" and trying to find the problem, I did.
Thing is, the ExportAVI.prm plug-in file wasn't missing, it was there in the "Plug-ins--common" folder together with every other exporter and importer file, it just wasn't being loaded by AME for some reason. So i found a folder named "txt" and inside it there was a file named "AddExporterList.txt" which I opened and, as you could probably imagine from its pretty self-explanatory name, it contained a list of the exporter files that AME was supposed to load, and the AVI one wasn't on the list.
I wasn't sure wether it was best for me to edit that text file and add the AVI exporter to the list or just delete the damn thing, so i checked on an older PC with the CS4 suite installed in it and the "txt" folder didn't even exist, so I just deleted it and opened up AME again and it loaded every single exporter .prm file including the ExporterAVI.prm of course and it works just fine now, so that's a load off my shoulders, hope this might help someone else in the future.

  • Export AVI from Adobe Media Encoder Mac

I would like to export AVI files from Adobe Media Encoder (CS5 or later) on a Mac running 10.6.8 or later. Am I able to buy the codecs for Mac to do so?

    [email protected]
VLC player does get the job done, but I have found it to be glitchy in the past.
I would recommend MPEG Streamclip much more strongly.
    I trust it much more.
And free download, for Mac or PC. Just google it. (Though I have only ever used the Mac versions.)
Though, I don't understand what you mean by saying that the .avi extention seem contrary to what was said above.
Whatever "container" you use for your video file is what the extension will be. i.e. "video_file.avi"
Within that container, there will be a compression codec (of which there are numerous options) that the container used to compress the video.
That codec will not be displayed in the extension.

I know you posted over a month ago...but maybe it will still be helpful!
I do not remember the video codecs available within VLC player. Sorry.
But if you decide to follow my advice to Timoyer and use MPEG Streamclip (which I highly recommend that you do!)...
Then you can use File > Export to AVI... > and then select "Apple Component Video - YUV422".
    That is an uncompressed format.
While it will be quite large, hopefully that will be what your client is looking for.
    Good luck to you all!
    And have a great week!

  • Problems With Camptasia AVI File in Premiere CS4

    Hi everyone,
I need help with the creating a video in Premiere CS4 using some Camptasia AVI files. I have used Camptasia to include a voice-over into a presentation and then saved it as an AVI file. I was able to include that AVI file into my Project in CS4 and edit it there adding to video files transferred from the camera. The problem came up when I tried to export the CS Project as an AVI or FLV file. It does not save the entire video but rather saves only the first couple of minutes of it. Can someone recommend me what to do?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Bahar

The problem is in the file itself. You set up your project in premiere at 30fps and imported file from camtasia studio does not have that frame rate. Camtasia does not have a good and fast enough codeck that would record 30fps. So premiere will try to recompress your file to proper structure with 30fps thus will give you the output of a very short file.
Camtasia have another software that is designed to capture needed frame rate but it is available only to the big companies.
I have tried this soft and ran into this problem and camtasia replied to me whit statement that this soft is not designed to capture full frame rate video.

  • Frame duplication during 2vuy (in .avi) import on Premiere CS4

    Hello:
I am currently trying to import a complete Premiere CS4 (version 4.2.1) project on my laptop, Windows 7 - 64bit, which doesn't have an AJA Kona 3 card installed. The detailed file specification of the source file is given further below and had been created on a system with AJA's Kona card. The source files are in an AVI wrapper, in OpenDML, with 2vuy and had been created by the AJA Kona card on a different system.
The file gets imported into Premiere, and it displays the correct file length, here of about 56mn 24s. However, I can only access the first few seconds. If I drag the video file to the timeline, I realized that every frame is present for about 2 minutes and 40 seconds, which results in about 18 seconds of the original file length. To explain it in different words - I have the same frame at position 00:00:00, 00:00:01, 00:00:02 until 02:39:24.
The original files can be properly displayed within the windows media player, which utilizes a YCbCr Codec from Drastic Technology Inc. Therefore, I strongly believe that the source files aren't corrupted. What should I do now?

    Hello Filmemacher,
AJA has a QuickTime Codec out for the Format you need. The Codec is free and the File can be played/exported through QuickTime (Pro Version only). Another Solution is the Drastic Codec Suite that has all the AJA/Kona, DVS, Optibase Codecs plus the normal ones from Windows (IYUV, I420, UYVY, YUY2, YVYU) in one Codec. The download Link has been updated with the new Versions on the Drastic Website. The Drastic Codec works for AVI in Windows and MOV for QuickTime for encoding and decoding Films. I use them myself for a long Time now without any Problems.
Please note: There are some Links to old Versions of the Drastic/Optibase Codecs in the Internet, mainly in Eastern Countrys. Stay away from them because of many Virus alerts and unstable outdated Versions.
    Best regards, Mickey

  • Peak files and beach balls in MAC Premiere CS4

    Hello all,
I having an issue, or should I say issues with Premiere CS4 on a networked Mac, and mac drive. Everytime I go to open a project premiere generates new peak files, which makes opening a 2 minute proj take like 20 minutes. And also it places a bunch of peak files in the folder which takes up space.
Also, everytime I switch programs (like say go from Premiere to Safari, and back to Premiere) or the computer sits for a bit of time, I get the beach ball (of death) for like 5+ minutes before I can do anything with the project. This only happens on my computer, of which we have 4 networked and 1 is connected direct to the network drive which is a Lacie brand Quadra.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!! Hahaha.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Greg,
As you know, the .PEK files are the Waveform Display. The .CFA files are the Conformed Audio. These are necessary for PrPro to edit, and to have the Waveform displayed.
My guess would be that PrPro is loosing these, because of the networked environment. I'd try with the Assets copied to the local HDD, and make sure that all Scratch Disks are located locally, as well. If this works, once PrPro has gone through the process of .PEK and .CFA writing, so long as these files are not moved, that should be it, and PrPro should be able to find these files and use them, without additional Conforming and PEK generation.
I've had similar occur on mapped network drives, and just doing the copy and redirecting PrPro to those copies (Relink Media) has cured it. I now only use network drives as storage for Assets, and not to provide same to PrPro for editing.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Exporting emails from Mac Mail to Entourage

Is there a way to take ALL of the emails etc from Mac Mail & transfer them to Entourage is one easy step? - I have looked at importing them from Mac Mail with Entourage's 'import assistant'..but it doesn't give Mac Mail as an option to import from...any help gratefully received - thanks

    Alex,
This thread is getting unbelievably messy for what originally was such a simple question. Nowhere did I say that the procedure I suggested was meant for a particular type of account or mailbox. It allows any messages to be exported in standard mbox format. It’s Stanley who mentioned IMAP as an alternative procedure to transfer mail between mail clients, and what I said in the post you’re replying to is precisely that IMAP has nothing to do with what I was talking about...
What does “suitable for archiving” mean? If you have any questions that have nothing to do with the problem of transferring mail from Mail to Entourage, which is what we’re supposed to be talking about here, please either find a thread that discusses the same questions or start a new topic to properly discuss them in their own thread instead of hijacking someone else’s thread. Here is a recent example of such a thread:

Hello, I have a little movie (13 sec) I wan´t to export to my iPhone, so I can upload it to Instagram. I have made the movie in iMovie, and when I save it, it will only be saved in mp4. iPhone can´t see movies in MP4. So how can I change the file to a file that iPhone supports?

  • Exporting an avi out of premiere cs4 from a tiff sequence (1024 x 576)

Hi i would be so greatful if someone could inform me of the correct setting becouse at the moment the avi i export seems to not be wide enough.
I have a tiff sequence renderd out from after effects at 1024 x 576 and set to square pixels. i am required to then take this into premiere and render out as a microsoft avi with the compression set to none. i also need to add a sound file to this the movie.
i begin by setting up a new sequence and as i cant seem to set the size to 1024x576 i have selected the preset widescreen 48khz (not 100% if this is right) i then bring both my tiff sequence(1024x576) and my music on to the time line, i the click export and media :  Here is the settings on the screen and as you can see in the preview widow the size seems to look about right. However once the movie has been exported it does not appear as wide as this.
i would be so greatfull if you can tell if i am doing anything wrong.
    Thankyou,
    Ryan

Why do you need the AVI file, and does it have to be DV AVI? The problem will be that DV AVI is going to Export to less than what you have in both your Project/Sequence and your Assets. [Edit] Must have been dreaming, as you never mentioned "DV. You should be able to Export out as MS AVI [Uncompressed]
Depending on exactly how you will use this file, might provide some other alternative. There are several other good CODEC's, that might get what you have into what you want.
Please define the use for the Exported file? Answers will flow in.
    Good luck,

  • Export video from Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 for online upload?

I need to upload a video I made in premiere but it shouldn't be bigger than 100MB for fast upload and still retain most of the quality. What format and codec should I choose? I tried divx and xvid but they ended up extremely jerky and awful.
The video is 720p and 55sec.

In both cases, the best thing to do would be to get the required/suggested specs. from each of those. In the case of YouTube, their specs seem to change often. Right now (last time I looked), it seems that most people are going with the H.264 CODEC for YouTube, and seem pleased.
I have no clue as to FaceBook, but maybe someone else will know it. Still, they should have a FAQ someplace with their requirements/specifications. They may be the exact same as YouTube, or totally different, in which case you would be better off doing two Exports - one for each use.
    Good luck,

  • Export .avi from AE on Mac

IS there a codec available for macs, particularly the MacBook Pro, that will allow export as a .avi file in After Effects?

  • Exporting .avi from FCP 3 / Opening FCP3 project in FCP 4

    Hello,
I am currently working on a project in FCP 3. I need to export an .avi-file for use in Adobe Encore on a pc. I have done this before and used the DVpal codec which worked ok, but with this project the image quality is not ok, mostly there seem to be small jumps in a sequence (is on the verge of not running smoothly.. sorry, hard to describe).
I tried all the other codecs I have (BMP, Cinepak, DVCPRO-PAL, DVCPRO50 and no compressor) and all either gave inacceptable image quality or the film does not run smoothly, or took several hours for rendering a 3 minute film.
Can anyone recommend a codec that gives decent image quality and does not take hours for rendering (I am working on a G3 900Mhz ibook). Is there maybe an mpeg2 codec I could use so that I could avoid recompressing in Encore?
I also tried importing the project into FCP 4 on a G4 1.5 Ghz Powerbook but cannot open the file. Is there any way to convert the project to FCP 4? I read about using the XML export for transferring from FCP 4 to 5 or vice versa, but FCP 3 does not have the XML option.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Natalie
    ibook G3, 900 Mhz, 640mb ram   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I don't know better than you, Randy, but I do have strong opinions.
OS X does tend to avoid file fragmentation, but that can only do so much, depending on how full the volume is and how much file deletion has taken place.
If the volume is very full, and you can't delete enough data to trim it down, the best thing to do is move/copy all the data to another volume, wipe the 1st volume, then move/copy all the data back. This is usually faster than using a defrag utility.
For best performance, keep your volumes less than 60% full. But I know guys who regularly run at 90 and 95% full without issue. So, go figure. And I know that conventional wisdom says to try to keep volumes less than 80% full. The thing is, when you benchmark a volume with a utility that measures throughput on the outer, inner, and middle tracks separately, you find that most hard drives will slow down when more than 60% full. NOTE: Not slow down terminally, but slow down by 10 to 20 percent or so.*
But the real answer to the defrag question is, don't worry about it . . . as Randy said.
    * If you do the math, you'll find that the read/write heads are exposed to about 1/2 of the surface area on the inner tracks as on the outer tracks in a given amount of time. FWIW.
