Export back to XDcam optical disc

I am back to Premiere after using both Avid and Final Cut Pro for many years. Premiere has come a long way since version 5.1. Happy so far but have a few issues I can't seem to solve.
If I needed to export an edit back to XDCam optical disk from Premiere Pro how do I do that?
Sincerely,
marcus

Hello Marcus,
You need to install the latest Sony FAM-driver on your Mac for writing your edit back to the disc. I guess that's all.
Importing goes now via the "Media Browser" as I understand it correct. I believe therefore XDCAM Transfer software isn't needed anymore, but I think it wouldn't hurt to have it installed too.
When your edited sequence is written back to the disc, you’re able to play it out on your PDW-700 via the SDI or HDSDI connection.
I still use FCP7 so how it all precisely goes in Premiere, I do not know for sure. I'm sorry for that! Production Premium CS5.5 is installed on my Mac, but haven't used Premiere Pro. Shortly I will be switching to CS6.
Here are some other movies for the PDW-700. In part 4 Andy explains how to write back to the 700 with FCP. I assume it's almost the same with Premiere.

Another document from Adobe that can be useful. Using Adobe® Premiere Pro CS6 with file-based Sony XDCAM content.

Try it and let us know if it works.
Greetings,

PS: what version of Premiere Pro are you using Marcus?

  • Can't export/write to XDCAM HD deck using Sony Content Browser Exporter

Our Studio need a workflow: Import media from Sony Content Browser v.2, and export/write back to Sony XDCAM HD deck (U2 etc.).
Sony Content Browser manual say they can Import/Export from Final Cut Pro X, But always have some problem:
Final Cut Pro X can't asign correct audio config channel to 8 mono channel for exporter
Final Cut Pro X can't set to 24bit/48kMz for Sony XDCAM HD optical disc.
    How can we do? Thank.

in the spirit of armano'os last post and FYI: i picked up the cams on short notice, never used them before and there were no instructions. the ppl just told me to copy the files over to my HD, since i had to return the cams immediately and had no time to hook up the cams to FCP.
the 'mistake' i seem to have made was that i looked at the data structure and saw that the clips always ended up in the CLPR folder within each BPAV folder - each in its own folder in that fiolder and with XML and data files - so i copied directly to that one BPAV folder i copied from the first capture media i moved to my hard drive instead of copying the entire BPAV folder from each capture media. however i tested the import immediately to see if it actually played back the files in the XDCAM clip browser and they did.
i assumed all was fine with this method and it would save me a lot of duplicate BPAV folders... hopefully though this isn't the end.

  • IMac optical disc drive error

Hey there... first things first Im new in this discussions forum. Ok, here's my problem...
Something wrong with my optical disc in my iMac. I inserted a disc into the drive but few seconds later it ejects back the disc. I thought the disc is damaged so I inserted another disc but same thing happened, it gets ejected back.
Then, I turned off the computer to let it cooldown first. When I turned again and try to insert a disc things gone worse. The disc can only be inserted half of it. So anyone please help me or I just send to Apple repair centre as a last resort.

Omg... i felt very sorry that Im posting at a wrong forum topic... please pardon me.

Will it accept and read your system's Install Disc? Can you run the Apple Hardware Test?

  • Has anyone ever SUCCESSFULLY gotten iTunes to back up library to disc?

I've tried numerous times over different versions of iTunes, and I can NEVER get iTunes to back up my purchased library to disc.
It offers to do it to DVD, to regular CD--- and nothing works. It spits the tray out, says to put in a blank CD and I do-- and it "checks Media" and never accomplishes anything. I'm starting to doubt the function even works and was put in there to make it look good.
Has anyone ever successfully gotten the "Back Up Library to Disc" function to work?
im running the latest version of iTunes.

GOOD POINT. You cannot backup to an external hd. Who wants to use dvds OR cds for backup anyway? The whole reason for buying an ipod was to avoid these two optical disc nightmares and get with a hard disk management solution. itunes doesn't recognize external hard drives for backup. Ridiculous. Try using an ext hd as the itunes location for your music if you really want to see problems develop. Managing music instead of playing music has become my past time since I got into the ipod/ itunes mess. All I do is try to clean up it's messes. The software developers need to be accountable. Class action? No support, except forum, unless you want to pay.

I want to open excel spread sheets make additions and export back to pc users.  Is numbers suitable for this activity?  I am using a MACBook Air

just read this in an other answer:
Pages can open docx files, Numbers can open xlsx files. Each can export to  can export .doc or .xls to the newest Word or Excel format.respectvely, but not to the more recent .docx or .xlsx.
Translation is not perfect in either direction. Numbers and Excel handle some similar features (eg. pop-up menus vs data validation) differently, and the translator cannot translate from one implementation to the other.
If much of your work is going to be transferred between your machine and Windows machines running either MS Excel or MS Word, with editing taking place at both ends of the tunnel, then you'll probably be better off with Office, or one of the Office clones on the Mac end.

Since I have the newest version of itunes, I can't back up like normally. The only way is to considilate files and then put them on an external drive which I don't have. Are there any other options? If I can't back up to a disc like I used to, can I instead just keep everything on my ipod and then if I have to get a new computer or something just download all my songs from the ipod to my new computer's itunes? Will that work? Will I still be able to keep all my songs that way?

I'm going to assume the consolidating files does not work due to hard drive space limitations.
Since you're moving to Windows 7, have you tried using the Windows files and settings transfer utility?  That will move everything for you to the same location on the new computer, it also allows some control over what actually gets moved.
Alternatively, if you know the location of all of the media, it can be manually moved by copying it from the old computer to the new computer in the same location.
Also, using the Apple article on moving the library, take a slight twist on what it says.  Move the iTunes library to the external drive, update the settings in iTunes to reflect the library being on the external drive, then consolodate it.
The options are endless for moving the library... it simply takes a little effort to make it happen and possibly a twist on existing "standard" methods depending on your unique situation.

  • Can t back up library to disc. error 2131 . whats wrong ?

Hi , Can anyone help me back up library to disc. error 2131 keeps appearing.

Update: Success! I used my iPod as an external hard drive following these instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329?viewlocale=en_US
After I reformatted I reinstalled my old iTunes 6 and dragged the folder back to My Music. At first, iTunes wuldn't sync a couple hundred songs to my iPod because I wasn't "authorized" so I had to enter my Apple ID and password. Downloaded latest software for Itunes and iPod and all is good.
Investing in an external hard drive still sounds like a good idea, since this was my first reformat and it was a bit nerve-wracking.

  • Optical Disc will not eject

I recently installed Leopard on my Macbook and forgot to eject the optical disc.
I just tried to eject it and it will not eject. I used every method to eject a DVD that I could find. The drive makes the usual eject sounds but nothing happens.
I viewed the slot in the side of my Macbook with a flashlight. I have no idea if this is normal or not but there seems to be a cardboard barrier blocking the slot. The cardboard barrier has a thin line across the middle from one end to the other.
I've read this dicussion topic and found nothing like this problem.
Thanks to everyone for any advice.

Functioning optical drives don't act like that, so it sounds like you have an optical drive that has failed. I would suggest calling Apple (800-275-2273) and having them set up a repair. Mail in repairs can often be completed in under a week.
    Best of luck.

  • In Lion the command to back up library to disc has been removed? How do I do this now?

In Lion the command to back up library to disc has been removed? How do I do this now? Apple Support has given me a case number and accelerated it with a call back in a few days, and even the techs were surprised by the removal of the ability to incrementally back up to any kind of disc any items added to the iTunes Library since it's last back up.
While this command was in all previous iterations of iTunes, even most of the techs are working from iTunes 10.3, the Lion version has this removed. Help only mentions Time Machine as the back up method. Sorry, I've had too many hard drives go bad, and not one DVD or CD has failed when I needed to retrieve a past purchase or addition of any kind to the iTunes library.
Purchasing from the iTunes store just got less viable, IMHO.

    Dave-
Thanks for the feedback. Those nasty old deprecated features, eh? Seems you are correct that it will now be a third party solution.
I just finished chatting with Mike Bombich about using his Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1 ( http://www.bombich.com/index.html ) to do the job.
He gave me a rough outline of how to set it up for incremental back up of iTunes ~/Music/iTunes or
~/Music/iTunes Music. Creating filters ( http://help.bombich.com/kb/explore/excluding-files-and-folders-from-a-backup-tas k#creating ) tells how to create and save different tasks.
I'l check it out and report back shortly.

  • I just bought an Apple TV and i have a bose sounddock with a mini jack in the back and and optical cord with a mini adapter on it (so optical cord going into the Apple TV and the mini adapter on the other end going into my bose dock but i dont get sound??

I just bought an Apple TV and i have a bose sounddock with a mini jack in the back and and optical cord with a mini adapter on it (so optical cord going into the Apple TV and the mini adapter on the other end going into my bose dock but i dont get sound?

Not all the sound docks accept both analogue and optical on the auxillary input - I don't think the portable ones does but may be wrong - check the user manual.
As I said earlier all the mini optical (min Toslink) adapter does it make the optical connector fit a smaller socket, it does not convert digital audio to analogue for an analogue only auxillary input.

  • How best to export back to video camera dv tape?

I know iMovie no longer has the export back to tape option in 09 version. But, there must be a good way to do it anyway? Does 09 allow me to export to DV (MyMovie.dv)? If so, then I guess I could take that exported file and import it into my old iMovie 6, and then export from there back to a DV tape via firewire. If someone knows a better way, the let me know.
    Thanks
    bkabat

You can avoid all video editors by using an app called SimpleVideoOutX:
    http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/samplecode/SimpleVideoOut/Introduction/In tro.html
Just download the SampleCode archive, extract the archive and look for SimpleVideoOut X.app. Just drop the video on the app icon to launch the app.
It has been around for MANY years, but not well known. This is a free app created to do exactly what you want. Caveat is, to go to DV, the video file can NOT be higher than DV resolution, or the screen with just show black on the DV camera. But it will work with any SD, or lower, resolution video file that Quicktime will play back. I have watched many videos on my TV this way, and it is MUCH cheaper than an Apple TV, with out the format issues.
You can select DVCPRO HD, Digital Cinema Desktop and FireWire as the output options. For DV, select Output=Firewire, and Mode=Apple FireWire NTSC.
There are a couple other option available at the bottom right of screen to play with, but generally, the defaults work for the majority of cases.
For extensive detail on its use, check this article:
    http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/oreilly/digitalmedia/2004/12/22/video_out.html
    Enjoy!!

  • Importing/placing pdfs and exporting back to pdf

If a client sends me a pdf in which i need to add printer marks or crop slightly, or convert a spot to process or whatever I usually place the pdf file into a new ID CS3 file, make my changes and then export back out to pdf using my pdf preset. My question is, is this a good practice and can the original pdf lose any quality either in contone images or type/lineart after doing so? In my pdf preset I have compression set to none, save to Acrobat 4 (PDF1.3). Thanks.
    -Mark

Images in PDFs are usually downsampled and compressed as JPEG. JPEG compression destroys image data. If you place a PDF then save as a PDF then you are effectively adding destruction to image data, unless you use Zip or None compression. However, in the case of press quality PDFs that damage is miniscule and likely does no visible harm.
Have you tried making these changes to the PDF directly using Acrobat Pro? With Acrobat you con convert spot colours to process and add printer marks.

  • What is current best practice for backing up a hard disc?

With the availability of various cloud applications, I would like to know if backing up an hard disc is now best done to the cloud?  For example, should you buy space in Amazon.com, or somewhere else on the Internet,  and then backup your hard disc to that space? Could you backup an entire harddisc to iCloud?  Your knowledge and experience is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

iCloud doesn't provide storage except for pictures
and your music, and only under limited circumstances.
Merchant online backup services such as Carbonite
and others exist for this reason. And you can sync
your files with/to Dropbox. Many users keep a local
copy of their files on  Time Machine or other hard
drives in addition to remote backups (in case of a
fire or other event compromising the local solution).
Backup software or cloning programs are useful in
all the above. You have to work at backup a bit -
it's like insurance, a bit of expense now to save a
lot of heartache later.Good to see you're determined
to forestall potential disaster - too many lack it.
    Good luck, Tom

  • Import QTVR Files into Corel Painter 11 and export back out to QTVR?

I received a QTVR File and imported it successfully to corel painter 11 to paint some changes into the frames and I then wanted to export the frames (512 total) back to the QTVR format. Corl painter 11 allowed me to export files as QT, but I did lose the QTVR movie controller. When I tried to go to movie properties in QT pro Version 7 it does not allow me to change the movie properties back to QTVR movie controller. Anyone have any suggestions? I do need to be able to paint in the frames in a digital paint program and then export back out.
    Thanks,
