Export button in task toolbar in Acrobat 9 Pro?

I had Acrobat 8 Professional and most of my pdf work was exporting to jpeg. Acrobat 8 had an export button in the task toolbar that made it a quick-click function to perform an export. I've recently upgraded to Acrobat 9 Pro, and I can't find my export task button anywhere, or find how to add it back into the task toolbar! Now I have to go to File>Export>Image>Jpeg to get the export...which for me is quite annoying since this is most of what my work consists of exporting.
Could someone explain how to restore the Export task button back to the task toolbar in Acrobat 9 Pro? Please don't tell me that option doesn't exists in version 9. You would think an upgrade to a newer version would make things more efficient, not less.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide.
J

On Acrobat 8's menu bar under the "File" option, there is an "Export" option that then has a number of choices including "Jepg". Is this what you are referring to?
If you had a toolbar button, someone added it using Acrobat JavaScripts 'execMenuItem(File.Export)'.
There are many types of 'Exports' available to Acrobat the include various types of form data, all images, comments to various types of files, as well as exporting a PDF to various file formats.

  • Creating option (radio) buttons from Word to PDF (Acrobat Pro)

    Hello,
I have a word document with form elements (from the form toolbar). After converting this file into a pdf with the acrobat pro add-in I make a interactive pdf with "form field recognition" (in German: "Formularfelderkennung ausführen") of the form menu.
    So far so good.
But I want to use option buttons, too, not only checkboxes. In Word these option buttons are available only through the toolbar "control element toolbox" (in German: "Steuerelement-Toolbox"). But these elements are not recognized by the above mentioned Acrobat option.
So, how can I do this without creating these option buttons by hand in Acrobat Pro?
    Thanks, Carlos

Is it a Designer or Acrobat created form?

  • How Can I Create a Print Button on a PDF Using Acrobat Pro That Will Also Work on iOS?

I created a Print Button on a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat Pro on my Mac.  The Print button works perfectly on different browsers on my Mac and on Windows (running under Parallels Desktop) as well.
When I open the document on my iPad the Print button doesn't even appear.  I am guessing that this is a Flash issue but it may be more related to the fact the the action for the button is to access the Print menu item, which doesn't exist under iOS.
Is there any way to create a Print button using Acrobat Pro that will work on a Mac and Windows but also on iOS?

In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work.

  • Can't use the "send by e-mail" button on forms created in Acrobat Pro 9 with Firefox

I created a form in Acrobat Pro 9.5.2 with a "send by e-mail" button as usual (not using LiveCycle Designer). Since a few months, users cannot send forms using that button USING FIREFOX works fine in Explorer. I've been creating and using those forms since 2 years whitout any problems but now this is A BIG PROBLEM for our office as all our reservation forms uses this technology.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. create a form using Acrobat Pro. add an action button " send a form". send the Entire PDF form not just FDF. go in advance tool to give all rights to end-users (in French it's "étendre les fonctions d'adobe reader" I think it’s enable the usage rights for Reader ion English.)
2.publishing the form on my website (or send by e-mail to someone who use reader)
    3. filling the form
    Results:
when the user fill the form he can't send it by e-mail using the button. Nothing happens when hitting that button. It is not possible to save the document as well. Nothing can be done, not even printing or saving it. I've tried almost all browsers I know and nothing works.
    Expected results:
the form should be send by e-mail (as an attachment in general) like before. please help me! this is really important, our office have a lot of calls and we are just 2 people here (non-profit organization). should we buy Acrobat Pro X ?
I can send you the form, my e-mail is rgelinas at canadianclub-montreal dot ca
    thanks all!

When your customers opened the PDF form (which was as an email attachment) on iPads, it is highly likely that Apple Mail (not Adobe Reader for iOS) was displaying the preview of the PDF form.   Please note that Apple products on iPad/iPhone (e.g. Apple Mail, iBooks, Safari) do not render field contents or annotations (sticky notes, highlight, underline, strikeout, freehand drawing, etc.) in PDF documents.
The Mail sections of the following FAQ documents describe how to open PDF attachments in Adobe Reader for iOS.
For iPad, see How to get PDF documents into Adobe Reader for iOS (iPad on iOS 7 version)
For iPhone, see How to open PDF documents in Adobe Reader for iOS (iPhone on iOS 7 version)

  • Missing Comment & Markups Toolbar in Acrobat Pro 8

I had Acrobat Pro 8 (version 8.2.1) intsalled on my machine last week.  I had been using Pro 7, but due to problems with it my IT folks upgraded me.  At first, all was well.  However, two days ago I went to highlight a document and the highlight tool was missing (I had made shortuts to it and other frequently used tools).  Per Pro 8s' Help:
You can use the Highlight Text tool, Cross-Out Text tool, and the Underline Text tool to add comments by themselves or in conjunction with notes. The Cross-Out Text tool and the Underline Text tool don’t appear in the Comment & Markup toolbar, by default.  You can add a highlight with a note or cross out text by selecting the text using the Select tool or Text Edits tool or and choosing that option from the menu that appears. However, if you’re marking up a lot of text, the specialized tools are faster and easier to use.
Choose Tools > Comment & Markups, and select the Highlight Text tool , the Cross-Out Text tool , or the Underline Text tool...
Comment & Markups doesn't appear in either View>Toolbars or Tools.  Anyone have any ideas where it's gone to?
    Thanks, kratsmit

    Yes, it's sitting in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\plug_ins.  Reader's version's at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins.  I have a theory, but not sure it's accurate.
As I mentioned earlier, I was having trouble with Pro 7, which is why IT installed Pro 8.  However, they didn't bother uninstalling/rebooting the machine before Pro 8 was loaded, which is something that I always do on computers where I have Admin rights.  I'm wondering if this latest Acrobat problem is in some way related to earlier issues that I had with 7...?
I'm going to try to see if Acrobat will do a repair with my limited rights and then restart the machine.  Will post afterwards what I find.

  • Document Language not exported into PDF when viewed in Acrobat Pro 9?

I've been working on making our PDFs accessible, but it looks like the LiveCycle-generated forms are causing some issues. While I can set the Form Locale in LiveCycle ES (8.2.1), generating a PDF from this and viewing it in Acrobat Pro 9 leaves the Reading Language field greyed out. I'm new to LiveCycle, so it might be something simple (but I've tried Googling everything).
I've tried saving it as both a Static PDF and Dynamic XML PDF form without luck. The Generate Accessibility Information Save Option is checked. I am doing a Save As rather than in-app generation (I understand this can be the cause of some issues).
    Help!?

Unfortunately, as I mentioned in my original post, I've already tried toggling smoothing options. They don't make the jagged edges go away—they just change them slightly. In some cases, as with the sample file provided, it does help smooth the art out, but it never looks as good as it did going in, in a recent project, toggling smoothing options didn't affect the appearance of the image at all. Zoom does not appear to relieve the artifacting.
A little clarification: this PDF was created from a flat PNG, but I have had this issue with PNGs and TIFFs as well, generated by both Photoshop and Illustrator. To reiterate, the PDFs display fine in other software—Finder preview looks great, and the same file viewed in my browser via Google Drive looks as intended as well. A colleague was able to replicate this issue in Acrobat on his Windows machine. This appears to be a rendering issue specific to Acrobat with regards to the files I use it to create.

  • Acrobat Pro 10.1 pushes CPU to 100% during scanning.

    Hello all,
I am deciding if I want to upgrade to Acrobat Pro X.  I have installed the trial version on a test system.  It is Windows 7 Ultimate with 4 GB Ram, 1 CPU.  I let the software update to 10.1 before doing anything.
System sits between 0 and 12 % Utilization if I do nothing other than work with task manager while Acrobat Pro X is launched.
I do a scan and it jumps with Acrobat taking over 80% as soon as the scanning starts.
This is nothing like the behavior of 9 on XP.  I know, different animal.  However, regardless, if the behavior is going to continue to bring my system to a halt like this, I am going to have to evaluate a different package.  With XP ending and Windows 7 being more 'standard', I need to move OS for other reasons.  I don't use over half the 'features'.  I only have pro because that was my original license and I have been updating since 6.
I know there are other products that should be decent, but am wondering if I should spend the time.  Any thoughts before I do so?
I appreciate any input you could provide.
    Jim

I did the final comparison last night.  I reloaded the image which never had the Adobe Acrobat installed.  (Since uninstall is never clean and complete)  I put Acrobat 9 pro on.  This is what I already have license for.
It spiked and dropped until rendering.  Still not as good as on XP, but much better behavior than 10.1.  10.1 renders between front and back wasting time.  I have to sit and watch for rendering to finish so that I can turn the pages over or add new pages.  9 renders at the end of scanning.  The way 9 works, is preferred as I can work while the scanner is going, then walk away until rendering is done.
Unless anyone has any other ideas, I will stay with 9 for now.  Anything else to try?
    Jim

  • If I have a license for Acrobat Pro XI do I need to upgrade on FormsCentral to use advanced features?

I am looking to use more than the standard 5 forms, as well as the email redirect functions etc.  While my machine has Acrobat XI Pro, it still asks me to upgrade on FormsCentral when I go to use some features.  Yet, when I select the upgrade button, it says upgrading to Acrobat Pro is an option.

    Why want you use FormsCentral?

  • How do you grey out/disable fields under a radio button if another radio button is selected in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?

How do you grey out/disable fields under a radio button if another radio button is selected in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?
I’m creating a form where the user has three options to make a payment.
    1. charge to my credit card
    2. charge associated costs to bank account
    3. By cheque or money order
My Problem is, under each option, there are required fields that has to be filled out. So if the user picks the first option, charge to my credit card, they would fill out the required fields (credit card number, expiration date etc.). But when they click submit button to submit the form, it won’t let them, because there are required fields under the second option. Also, I have the radio buttons for the three options setup so that if the user holds the shift key and clicks a radio button, it unchecks it. So what I'm trying to do is this: If the user selects the radio button for option 1, the other two options are greyed out/disabled. And if the user holds down the shift key and clicks radio button for option one again, it unchecks the radio button and the other two options are available again. Is there a way to grey out or disable the two other payment options when the other one is picked. I’m assuming I will have to use javascript, but what would the coding be and which field do I write it under?
    Thanks in advance guys

You will have to use custom JavaScript to access the various properties of the field object.
The radio button group has a value. When no button is selected that value is "Off". When an individual button has been selected the value for the group will be the option or export value for that individual button.
Once you have determined the button selected, then you will know the form fields that need to be made required. You use JavaScript to access those fields and change the "read only" property to false, and set the "required" property to true. For the fields associated with the other options, those fields should be reset, made read only, and have the "required" property set to false.
    Disabling (graying-out) Form Fields
    >> Also, I have the radio buttons for the three options setup so that if the user holds the shift key and clicks a radio button, it unchecks it.
Radio button in a PDF do not work that way. Only check boxes can be unchecked by clicking on one that has been checked.
If you plan the coding for the Mouse UP action to test for all possible options and code for each of those options you should have what you want.
If you want actual code you need to provide a lot more details.
It is even possible to perform some credit card and bank routing number validations with JavaScript and some check digit formulas.

  • Problem exporting data in Acrobat Pro 9.0 from secured response form

    Hello,
I made a form in Livecycle 9.0 and am distributing it through Acrobat Pro 9.0 - using Acrobat.com's form distribution application - in several cycles to see how varying the levels of security of the form will affect users (the folks who will be filling out the forms), once they get the forms.  I want to see how many passwords they have to enter, what they can do, what they cannot do with the form..  I've been sending unsecured and secured forms out, to test.
The problem I have now is, when I receive my permissions protected, secured forms back, I cannot EXPORT the data.  Both  the "Export" and "Archived" buttons are greyed out, and even when I remove the security settings from File--> Portfolio Properties, nothing changes.
I'm locked out of the collected data!
It's easy to export data from unsecured response forms (without permissions protection), but I would prefer to limit the amount of manipulation users can do to the forms (aside from commenting, filling them out, and signing them).
The secured forms perform great on the Acrobat Reader - user (form-filler) end, restricting printing, modifying text, etc,  but they return to me in Acrobat Pro inert.  I'm completely stumped to how I can get data out of them. I would sure appreciate any help!
    Thanks,
    Chenster

  • Installed Acrobat Pro 9 - requires password to open any PDF & botches InDesign exports to PDF

Installed CS4 on my new Mac, using the downloaded installation file. Everything works except Acrobat. I uninstalled Acrobat & reinstalled it. Same problems remain:
1a. Everytime I open a PDF, I get this message:  "Adobe Acrobat Pro wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this." I have to enter the username & password for my computer to open every PDF. Then they open correctly.
1b. If I open Acrobat from the Applications folder, without opening a file, I get the same message & must enter username & password to open Acrobat.
    2. From InDesign, I export PDFs using File > Export. The PDFs have little rectangles for about half the text in the entire document. I routinely export both hi-res (Print Quality) and lo-res (Smallest File Size) PDFs in InDesign & this happens with all of them.
Most of the work I do results in PDFs. None of them have password protection or other security. I don't see anything in Preferences that looks like it would relate to these issues. Help, please!

Go the the Applications -> Utilities folder. In there you will find the Disk Utility app. When you run that application, you can select your hard drive. Then click on the Fix Permssions button.

  • Indesign CS4 button flashes after exported to PDF and viewed in Acrobat Reader/Professional X

    Hey everyone,
    Greetings!
I've encountered this odd problem when preparing my portfolio.
I've created some 40 buttons in InDesign CS4 (all according to the official tutorial) to Show/Hide Fields (specificly images), and navigate through the pages.
The buttons all have their own Normal and Rollover states, but no Click states.
After exporting the file to PDF, I tested the buttons in Acrobat Reader 9 and Acrobat Pro 9, and both the actions and the states worked fine.
BUT that's not the case with Acrobat Reader X or Acrobat Pro X.
The actions are still there, showing the images and navigating, but the states are not!
The buttons' rollover states just flashes when the mouse hover above them, and even in Normal state, they kept *blinking* randomly.
    Frustrated for a week.
PS. I suspected and used a Indesign file with only one simple button to rule out the following:
    1. Overlapping buttons
    2. Slow processing due to large image size
    3. Mishandling of transparency
At this moment I'm pretty sure it's an Acrobat thing...Help!

Thanks Dave! I was in the middle of writing this when your post came in:
Not sure if this will help anyone, but I changed the button fill color to white and it seemed to fix the flicker. I exported each state from indesign as a PDF and recreated the button from scratch. This still had the flicker. I'm guessing something strange is happening with the transparancy of the states.
    Glad to hear it's fixed!

  • How to export security settings from Acrobat Pro

I'm transferring my Acrobat Pro to a new computer.  Is there a way to export the security settings (passwords) that I have stored and then import them into Acrobat Pro on my new computer?

¹The user name is the same as the login name
²ver is the major version (e.g. 8.0, 9.0)
Note, if you don't see the folders in the Windows Explorer try the following:
    Start Windows Explorer
Select the Tools > Folder Options menu item
    Select the View tab
Select the Show hidden files and folders radio button
Click the OK button on the Folder Option dialog

  • Question re: Adobe Acrobat Pro. 8 - Navigation pane / Toolbar trouble

I was recently using my Adobe Acrobat Pro. 8  at work to edit a PDF document ... I commonly use the navigation panels and toolbars to make my work easier and yesterday something really weird happened  ... As i was using the navigation panels on the left side of the screen, i started to click my mouse on the side panels because it seemed like the panels werent working (specifically the "Pages" display panel) when i guess my computer was just running a bit slow ... when computer came to be up to speed ALL my Navigation Panels on the side disappeared along with any toolbars that i had on the top of my screen (all i had was the Menu Bar aat the top of the screen) ... I tried using the "Reset Panels" and "Show Navigation Panel",  selections but they didnt seem to work ..  finally, i clicked on the "Pages" selection from the "View" --> "Navigation Panels" which brought up the panels , but when i clicked on the buttons, none of them worked and still dont work ... Somehow, this issue has changed all of the PDF files on my ENTIRE computer (where i have no toolbars and no working navigation buttons as the default view) ... I spent an hour on the phone with my company help desk with no success (even after removing and re-installing the program, which i was sure would restore the original defaults i had previously) ... Im sure that it has something to do with the preferences or something, but i just cant figure it out and its really slowing down my work .... PLEASE SOMEONE HELP !!! ... Thanks

    Thank you for the response.
Do you know what the logic was to make such a dramatic change - since all the previous versions of Acrobat permitted the forms toolbar in the regular view?  They must have thought this format was better.  Any ideas?
