  • Exporting Browser Bookmarks to Desktop

I am using Nokia N8. I have a lot of bookmarks in my N8 web browser and I wish I could export it to my desktop. The main reason why I want to do this is because the amount of bookmarks I have has slowed down my mobile phone, and unfortunately I cannot delete those as they are very invaluable for me. Also, now-a-days accessing a single bookmark has become a more than 2-minute ordeal. Please help me on this.

There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export.
However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • Editing contacts in gmail after export/import from Palm Desktop is a messy affair

So far, from what I can see, my contacts are synchronizing well between the Pre and my gmail contacts list.  Being easily amused, I guess it's pretty slick the way it works.  But exporting them from Palm Desktop and importing them into the gmail contacts list was just a jumbled mess.  Almost none of the actual fields from PD mapped correctly to the gmail fields, so all of my info got lumped into the "notes" field in gmail.
It's easier and faster to edit them in gmail than on the Pre, so that's what I've been doing...fixing about 300 contacts one at a time.  You can cut/copy/paste the info from the notes field into the correct data field.  But there's one really weird thing that happens if you try to drag-and-drop info, say a telephone number or an address, from the notes field into its own field above.  The data appears to move over.  But once you save the change, anything you dragged into its own field disappears.  Trying to go through the list quickly, I didn't notice this strangeness until I had gone through a large enough number of my contacts to really make me swear.

    smkranz,
I had a similar mess to clean up.  I figured that Google's contacts would work better with an import from Outlook and a direct export from Palm Desktop 4.x or 6.x.  I used Chapura's Pocket Copy to push my Palm Desktop 4.2 data into Outlook, and then exported my data from Outlook and into Google contacts.  I followed Google's directions for that part.  I still had to review my 400 or so contacts and do some mop up, but it wasn't a total train wreck.
Glad to hear that you did get a Pre.  Welcome to the club.  Now we have to work on WyreNut.

  • Urgent: File export in campaign

    Hi Gurus,
I have created one personalized mail form of type 'export' . I have got the personalized mail form enhanced by creating a new scenario and got it iimplemented using the BADI provided. The requirement was like this :
From  the business partner object we selected the first and the last name.
Then from the structure included using the scenario we are pulling the data of the BP with which the BP has the relationship ' Is Contact Person Of' i.e. the main BP is the contact person and from  their it is picking the BP (Org BP) of which this is the contact person. The details being pulled from the Org BP are name , and address.
This mail form is working perfectly when I am seeing the print preview by providing a BP number of a contact person BP
This BP I assigned to one target group.
Now when I create and execute a campaign with communication channel defined for file export and assign this mail form for export , the file which it is creating in the attachment doesn't have the details of the company BP
    Please HELP
    This is SOS message.
will award points to all helpful answers,
    Thanks ,
    Jai

Thanks Deepak for your quick response. Let me make myself more clear. My issue is like this:-
    1. Our target groups will contain  the 'Contact Persons'
    2. We wanted to create one mail form of type 'file export' in which if we give the number of one BP it gets the name of this BP along with the name and address of the BP of which this is a contact person. ( Address is not maintained for the contact person'  it is maintained only for the comapny BP and is also assigned to the relationship).
3.For this I created one mail form. got this mail form enhanced with one structure from where I am taking the details of the second BP ( i.e. the BP of which the first BP is contact person )
    4. If I see the print preview of this mail form it gives a perfect ouput i.e. the name of contact person along with the name and address of the company
    4. I defined one communication channel for the campaign and assigned the export variant to this.
    5. In my target group I have a BP which is contact person of another BP .
    6. Now when I am trying to execute this campaign by assigning my export form and communication channel , the document which it is generating just shows the details of the first BP i.e. the contact person and not the company BP.
Please let me know what all I need to check

  • Exporting masters (NEF) to desktop or external drive -

    cant open NEF files.
Hi, I am very new to such a forum - can someone guide me here? I can open my NEF files if using my external editor, photoshop CS, however, I need to export masters to external drive or into a file on my desktop. When I have exported the master, I can see the thumbnail, but when I double click the thumbnail, or drag to the Photoshop icon in the doc, the window comes up with "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document" and even if I change the extension to .psd. Is it because the Photoshop CS version can't read the files?? Thanks for some advice, I usually manage to find an answer via the online user manual, but stuck here.
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)

When you 'open a NEF' using your external editor you are in fact opening a TIF that Aperture has generated, not a NEF.
You don't mention which Nikon camera you are using, but my guess is that it is not supported by CS. You may find you need to update to CS2/ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) in order to read your NEFs directly from Photoshop.
Alternatively, once you have exported NEFs from Aperture, why not just re-import those files as 'Referenced' files (even from external drives) and you will then be able to use Aperture as your Raw converter and still export the TIF to CS.
    Hope this helps

  • Export ipad library to desktop

how i can export ipad songs library to my desktop

If the songs were purchased through the iTunes app that is on the iPad. Then all you need to do is load up iTunes on your computer. Connect your iPad up. When it appears down the left hand side, right click on it and then choose from the drop down menu, TRANSFER PURCHASES and then all the content, music etc will be transferred onto your computer.
If the songs were added off of CDs or were on your computer, then the library and associated content will be backed up already on your computer. In the following locations:

  • Missing thumbnails on photos exported from iPhoto to desktop

I have a number of photos on my desktop that were saved there from Photoshop Elements. They don't show as thumbnails, only JPEG icons. Photos exported to the desktop by iPhoto do show as thumbnails. Is there any easy way to get the Photoshop Elements icons to show as thumbnails?

Search macupdate.com for thumbnails. There are several items that will do what you are asking. If I remember correctly findericon might be one of them. It might be finder icon.
Isn't there an option to save Thumbnail preview in the save box of elements. I could be wrong on that.

  • German umlauts not supported in CSV file export of campaigns

    Hi all,
I just customized and tested exporting business partner data out of a marketing campaign to a CSV file. I created a mail form and made the appropriate customizing settings in SPRO.
All worked fine, but when opening this file with MS EXCEL, german umlauts (ä, ö, ü, ß) cannot be depicted correctly.
I figured out so far, that my file in encoded in UTF-8.
Does anybody know if there are some settings to be made in SAP and/or Excel to solve the problem with the umlauts?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks a lot.
    Best regards
    Wolfgang

    Hi Wolfgang,
I had the same problem as well. This is the solution suggested by SAP Support:
Unfortunately this is a problem with Microsoft Excel. It is not able to
handle the UTF-8 format file directly. Please try the following steps
and check whether the data is displayed correctly -
    1) Download the file to your local system
    2) Open a worksheet in Excel
    3) choose 'Data->Import External Data -> Import Data' from the menu
    4) Then select the file and import it.
Please remember to set the encoding of the file as UTF8

  • Exporting or Copying from Desktop Taking a Long Time

    Hello-
    I am a super user.
I ran a standard report set up by our administrator, then altered it by adding two new fields and adding a condition. The report ran in less than a minute and returned 6864 rows. For some reason, the report will not export and I cannot do a copy-paste from Desktop to Excel. Under either scenario, I get the hourglass for several minutes (over 30).
Why would a report that queries and runs quickly slow down when I try to export it?
    Thanks

    4. what happens if you try to export as something else such as an HTML file?
***I didn't try this, but I need Excel, not HTML.
The reason I asked if you'd tried exporting to a different filetype is that I was trying to ascertain if it's Discoverer as such, or the tool it's being exported to has changed, updated, driver,, etc.
For example if it exports quickly with all rows to another format (html for example) then it might help as knowing it seems to be only an Excel problem.
    Additionally:
I ran a standard report set up by our administrator, then altered it by adding two new fields and adding a condition. The report ran in less than a minute and returned
6864 rows. For some reason, the report will not export and I cannot do a copy-paste from Desktop to Excel. Under either scenario, I get the hourglass for several
minutes (over 30).Could you get the owner of the workbook to create another version for you with your minor changes and then see if that one runs quickly and can be exported. If not, I wonder if it's a privilege setup (for exporting) and a security setup (query doesn't come back) as they can do something you can't.
Finally, what Disco flavor is it? (desktop, plus, viewer)?

  • Exporting photos to the desktop

I want to be able to email photos from the iphoto area and drag them to the desktop. Will they be gone from the iphoto area if I do this and will I have to drag them back to iphoto?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
My guess is that - somehow - the chess app has been made the default for viewing pic. To correct this, export a pic to the desktop, and then select it and go File -> Get Info
On the 'Open With' Pane Select Preview as the app, and then click on the 'Change All' button. This will make Preview the default app for viewig the pics.

  • Exporting iPhoto pics to desktop

Something very strange is happening when I move pictures from my iPhoto to folders on my desktop (i want to organise them).
The horrible part is that the dates are complete wrong as soon as the arrive to my desktop!!!
It's insane and I'm getting worried. My pics from 2006 or 2007 appear now to have been taken in 2009!!!
To some people (like me) dates are essential to design an album.
Am I the only one have this problem? Am I doing something wrong? Has my iMac got a virus?
Any kind of advice will be highly appreciated.
    /J.

  • Exporting RAW files to desktop corrupts them

I just purchased a new macmini intel 2 core duo 2 gHZ upgraded to 2 GB Ram and I run Leopard 10.5.7 with iPhoto 09
The store where I purchased my macmini transferred all the contents from my old macmini core 2 duo 1.83 gHZ hard disc to my new macmini's hard disc.
Here's the problem: When I export a RAW file from iPhoto to my desktop ( export as "Original") the RAW file is often corrupted by a horizontal band or stripe of color across the image. The strange thing is that it does not have this stripe or band across it every time. It does this about half the time. I experimented by exporting the same RAW file to my desktop a few times. In about 2 cases out of 5 the exported RAW file displays the colored stripe or band. If I export as Jpeg or Tiff it does not happen.
The band is always in a different place. Here are 2 screenshots I took of what it looks like:
    http://a.imagehost.org/0118/RAW1.jpg
    http://a.imagehost.org/0351/RAW2.jpg
    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards
    Fred

OK..I contacted Apple Support here i Holland by phone and they ran through a whole trouble shooting program with me. Then they downloaded RAW files from a site that has RAW files for all types of cameras including the camera I use Panasonic DMC L1
They then did imported the RAW files into their Macmini at Apple support and found that they experience the exact same issues as I reported on my own Macmini. So the problem is not with my particular Macmini but somewhere in the iPhoto 09 software. They will now send these findings to Apple in Ireland and other Apple centres that address these issues. Then a solution will be sought and probably some kind of update to correct it will be issued. Hopefully this issue will be gone in SnowLeopard.

  • Exporting Calendar and Palm Desktop Quits

    No device
I am planning on saying goodbye to my Palm after 3 devices and at least 10 years of loyalty.  On Thursday, I'll be ordering an iPhone.  I have already exported my Contacts to Address Book, no problem.  But when I try to export my calendar to iCal (in a vCal format) it starts exporting and then the entire program quits.  I spent over 2 hours with Palm Chat Support last night.  We did a clean install of Palm Desktop.  Still can't do it.  I have DBFixit on my phone.  I ran that and it still doesn't work.  I have a lot of information on my calendar.  Could that be the problem?  I would hate to have to hand transfer all of my information onto my new phone.  Does anyone have any ideas?
