Export Clarification

I'm trying to solidify my workflow, and I was hoping you FCP wizards could clarify something for me. When it comes to exporting finished video from FCP to create DVD's in DVD Studio Pro, I have seen several arguments over what is the best way. I'm sure that it all depends on each individual's particular situation. So, here's my situation:
1. I always use DV NTSC 720 x 480 footage.
2. I have seen recommendations that it is best to Export>Quicktime Movie (NOT using Quicktime Conversion)>Uncompressed 8-bit 48kHz as a Self-Contained Movie. Then let DVD Studio Pro do all of the conversions. This is what I typically do, and I've not had a lot of problems. The quality of the export seems diminished somewhat, but it's not too bad.
3. I have seen recommendations to Export>Using Compressor. This seems to work okay too, but I've read arguments on both sides of using Compressor for this job.
4. I have not tried Uncompressed 10-bit 48 kHz. Should I be using this instead of 8-bit or will it choke in DVD Studio Pro?
5. I have also wondered what the quality difference would be if I just Export>Quicktime Movie (Again, NOT using Quicktime Conversion)>Current Settings as a Self-Contained Movie.
Would any of you experienced experts kindly shed some light on this topic for me please?

It's important to remember that 'uncompressed' is actually a compression format in its own right. If you haven't been working in 'uncompressed' then FCP will having to use a different type of compression than DV to get it into the 'uncompressed' format. As stated correctly above, the best way to work with your files is to use the quicktime movie. It's essentially a reference movie that points to your render and source files, unless you tick the 'make movie self contained' box, in which case it copies the composite of your render and source files.
If backing your files up, use self contained and then you can delete everything else if necessary. If you'll be doing more with the source files then just use a not self contained, then it doesn't take up any more space. (Or at least only a few mbs for the pointer file).

  • Domain Guideance and Clarification using SVN and an Export suggestion

    Hello Oracle SQL Data Modeler Support,
    Apologies if this has been documented somehwere and I have missed reading it, but have gone through the User Guide and cannot find the clarification I want regarding domains.
    1) WHAT IS BEST PRACTICE TO SAVE WHEN USING SVN
    From the forum I have picked up that the domains file is in the following directory:
    ~\datamodeler\datamodeler\types
    File name is 'defaultdomains.xml'
    When I come to save the file using SVN I get 'Choose versioned folder for storing system types'
    I assume this is where the domains file is stored.
    I require the Domains to be avialable centrally to all Designs I create, what should I do?
    a) Set the folder to ~\datamodeler\datamodeler\types
    b) Create a design called 'Domains' and store it in this folder
    c) Any thing you may suggest
    2) EXPORT OF DOMAIN FILE SUGGESTION
    This should be a quick win for you, can you please add an Export Domains function, seems this needs to do no more than make a copy of the defaultdomains.xml file and create it in a specified export directory.
    Will avoid having to go through the forum to pick up that the defaultdomains.xml file needs to be copied and transfered over for new SQL Data Modeler installations.

    Hello,
    I require the Domains to be avialable centrally to all Designs I create, what should I do?Default location is fine if SVN is not used and if all designs are used only on that computer.
    If versioning is used then it's better to have separate directory for domains and this directory shouldn't be part of any design's directory - i.e. for designs you can have directories c:\des_1, c:\des_2 ...c:\des_n - one directory per each design and that directory will contain design DMD file and design folder. For domains you can have directory c:\DM_Sys_types and you need to set this directory in "Tools>Preferences>Data Modeler>system types directory" - logical types, RDBMS sites and scripts also will be stored there.

  • Clarification on MXF container Export (Operational Pattern)

    I'm starting this thread for some clarification on MXF Export with Adobe Media Encoder CS5.
    I need to export/convert files into the MXF container Format with the operational pattern 1a (op1a)
    I searched the internet for answers but these are confusing me.
    here are two links with different information:
    http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/907985
    Todd Kopriva says this is possible with PremierePro (v.5.0.2) and/or AME version CS5 by using the format "MPEG2 MXF"
    http://help.adobe.com/de_DE/mediaencoder/cs/using/WS725e431141e7ba651e63e3d1267818bc51-800 0.html
    But the help file of AME says the operational pattern 1a (op1a) is new in AME CS5.5!
    So my questions are:
    1. Is it possible to export/convert files in MXF container with operational pattern 1a (op1a) with Adobe Media Encoder CS5 or do I need to update to version CS5.5?
    2. When using in AME CS5 the format "MPEG2 MXF" which operational pattern get used? "op1a" or  "OP-Atom"
    I really need correct answers because the encoded files are for digital file delivery for tv broadcasting and I want to avoid that my files get rejected by the tv company. So please no guessing here!
    Maybe Todd Kopriva himself could clarify this.
    I also would appreciate information on some free tools for analyzing the encoded final files to make sure the files meet the guidelines of the tv company. If someone could post links to free software which could give information which operational pattern was used in the encoded file that would help me a lot to do some proper tests.
    Thanks for your help
    Felix
    http://www.felixdames.de

    Thank you Todd and Mark for the clarification.
    sorry for answering so late I was very busy last week.
    It seems that I only need MPEG2 support for the TV company and as Mark mentioned this is supported in AME 5.0.1 and newer versions. So there is no need for me at the moment to upgrade to CS 5.5. That's good to know...
    Today I will have a test encoding and file delivery with the TV Company to see if I meet the requirements...
    I will let you know if everything went fine.

  • Exported data files change clarification

    We are migrating a client from Oracle CRM On Demand to another CRM product. A couple of months ago we performed a full export and mapped all the needed fields from the current Oracle system to the new CRM system. This morning I went in and performed another full export to start the process of the actual migration process based on all the mappings we had performed previously. This time there were quite a few new data files that were exported and I believe this may be due to the "Release 21" that was just implemented. It appears initially that these new files are duplicate records that are associated to the main record. That is now there is an "Account Opportunity" data file where before it didn't exist. I looked online but cannot find any specifics on this. Can someone please let me know if this is the case or is there a document online somewhere that has this information? Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi Dave,
    I've got this working on the copy of the rulebase I had, it's because your entity / relationship public names don't match the .xds file, possibly as a result of the upgrade. I've sent you an email about this.

  • Clarifications on "syncing" systems -- i.e. exporting/importing catalogues.

    If I want to simply "sync" two computers so that changes or additions I made on one system will be incorporated on the other, do I need to first "export" a catalogue and then import it onto the other system, or can I simply "import" directly without first exporting a separate catalogue? In other words, does the current catalgue (what used to be referred to as a "library") exist as something that can be imported onto another system without first requiring a separate "export"?
    Also, what happens if changes are made on BOTH systems when I do the import? What happens if changes have been made to the same shot on both systems? I've looked over various literature on this subject, but I haven't been able to determine how robust LR is at dealing with all the various permutations in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Larry

    >As I understand it, a catalog is a catalog, and you are always in a catalog. No need to export unless you want to create a subset.
    Can anyone confirm this? A similar questions was answered in another thread saying you could not do this, so now I've received two answers that directly contradict each other, and don't know which is accurate.
    I'm looking for the easiest way to "sync" two systems where changes may have been done on BOTH systems to different pictures. The end result should be that both systems have all the same information on them. I'm still unclear what the specific steps would be to achieve this.
    On this note, what if the same photo had new edits on BOTH systems? Is there a way of syncing "both ways" so that both systems ended up showing all the edits from BOTH systems in different snapshots or virtual copies or ???
    Thanks,
    Larry

  • Clarification on HD Export (pag 319 of the book of Tom Wolsky)

    At pag 319 of the book "Final Cut Express 4 - Editing Workshop" of Tom Wolsky, is written the option to export to an MPEG-4 file with data rate of 18000 Mbps. Is it correct or should it be 18000 Kbps?
    thanks
    Marco

    Thank you Tom.
    I have a mac mini connected via HDMI to my TV and via WiFi to the Synology NAS where I store my home videos. Exporting to QT the WiFi home network is not powerful enough to stream to the mac mini and to the other wireless devices (Iphone and Ipad). So I'm struggling in finding the right exporting method to have the best quality.
    Have you got other recommendations than exporting using the third otpion described in your book?
    Thanks

  • How do I take 300 dpi photos with my iPhone 4s? And how do I export them to my MacBook Pro at 300 dpi to use as I want to print photos.

    How do I take 300 dpi photos with my iPhone 4s?
    And how do I export them to my MacBook Pro at 300 dpi to use as I want to print photos.
    I have been using the standard camera on the iPhone and require 300 dpi to create photo books as the photos are resized according the layout.
    Your time and assistance in appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thanks Tonefox!
    After looking at a few of the links I found a mathematical equation that assisted me.
    Inches = Pixels/DPI
    eg: 3 inches = 300 pixels/100 DPI
    Using this equation and the fact that iPhone 4s takes photos that are 3264 x 2448 I was able to work out the largest print I could make with 300 DPI.
    Width 3264 pix/ 300 DPI = 10.88 inches
    Height 2448 pix/ 300 DPI = 8.16 inches
    Therefore, the largest print (with 300DPI) I can make of these photos is 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches.
    Which is great!
    So is it critical for me to change the dpi in say photoshop or does it not matter as long as I don't go above the 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches?
    From what I can gather the smaller I resize the photo the higher the DPI and the bigger I stretch the photo the lower the DPI?
    Further clarification will be much appreciated. Thanks

  • IMovie 6 HD - Export Movie Size Question

    There is a confusing list of movie export size options that I need to get your clarification about. Some of the selections seem to be similar.
    To see what I am referring to go into iMovie HD 6, under the SHARE menu, go to Save Movie For: Expert Settings Export Settings > Select Movie to QuickTime Movie (then hit the options tab to the right > Under the Video Section, select SIZE - note the Export Size Settings - DImensions drop down list. Note there are two sections. The last two items in the top section listed are (exactly worded as) 1280 x 720 HD and 1920 X 1080 HD. In the bottom section the last three entries are HD 1280 x 720 16:9, HD 1440 x 1080 16:9 and HD 1920 x 1080 16:9. What's the difference, for example, between the 1280 x 780 HD and the bottom one HD 1280 x 780 16:9? I ask because my HD camcorder movie footage (shot at 1080i, 29.97, 16:9) with an HV30 exports smooth at 1280x720 HD but jerky at HD 1280 x 780 16:9. They sound the same, but one is jerky and one smooth.
    The other question I have is 1440x1040 is 4:3 ratio. But it exports at 16:9 aspect ratio. I don't understand why.

    Donna:
    While I have a lot of video editing experience with an SD digital camcorder, the Canon HV30 HDV cam is new to me. So I am experimenting. That said, footage that will be shot will end up in a couple of places. Some of it will be passed onto my company's web master for posting to the web in some kind of Flash video format. Other video will be used in Keynote presentations as full screen video clips. Others will be used as source video for creating 4x3 SD clips for PowerPoint on a PC by others. So, the video will be used in different formats. (In what format to shoot is another question, but I have concluded (I hope correctly) that I should just shoot HDV 1080i since it seems to be the easiest to deal with for uploading to iMovie6 HD.)
    The purpose of my inquiry was to determine what the various selections are used for and what they do. Sometimes the video is jerky, sometimes an identical movie size is smooth (but must be rendered or processed differently). I was only trying to determine why there appeared to be repetative choices in the list of movie sizes as I mentioned in my original post. To be blunt, iMovie 6 HD documentation is spotty at best. The O"Reilly books don't cover the hard parts.

  • Is there a way to export videos and retain geotag/time changes?

    I'm in the process of exporting all my photos & videos from one Mac to another (I want to avoid migrating everything with the migration assistant...) through an external hard drive, which will also serve as my central photo/video location - this way I can lend it to my friends so they can import events to their Macs.
    Anyway, I've made substantial changes to my photos and videos throughout the years, mostly around location geotagging and adjusting time and date info.
    When exporting my events, I'm choosing the following settings:
    Kind:              JPEG
    JPEG Quality: High
    Include:         Title and keywords (check)
                           Location information (check)
    Size:               Full Size
    File Name:     Use Filename
    This has worked great for all my photos, as they retain all the date/time and geotag changes I've made.
    However, this doesn't work for videos... a small file of a few hundred KB gets created for each video, but it's basically just an image of the first frame.
    The only way to export my videos in full has been to change the "Kind" option above to "Original".
    This works fine to create a file for each video in full, however none of the geotag or time/date changes are retained.
    It looks like iPhoto is simply dumping a copy of the original video files without updating the timestamp or geotag info.
    Is there a known way to do this with iPhoto? If not, how about other software?
    Thanks!
    -Marc

    I see, thanks for the clarification.
    Well that's my current problem actually, as I have a bunch of photos in my library that were imported at times when I did NOT have the "copy to library when importing" setting checked.
    The original files (the full-size photos themselves) are all over the place, and some are on my external hard drive. So in order to consolidate everything, I'd like to export ALL the photos from my library to just *one* location.
    Trouble is, I won't have enough space on the new MacBook to import everything into the internal SSD...
    I noticed when playing around with various export settings that the size of the exported photos vary dramatically based on the "quality" setting, even if the "size" setting is always "full size".
    It's even creating files that are larger than the originals if I select the "Maximum" quality setting! But if I select the next lower one, which is "High", the files end up being smaller than the originals by about 25-30%.
    Do you know if there's a significant loss i quality when I pick "High" instead of "Maxiumum? (FYI the original files are all JPEG images, taken with various cameras from 2G iPhone and several point-and-shoots, to high-end digital SLR with glass lenses).

  • Application is hanging after exporting a report

    Post Author: AnthonyM
    CA Forum: .NET
    I am using Crystal Reports XI R2 with C# in VS 2005. I am also using Crystal Reports SDK 11.5. I have a main report that contains 4 subreports that I want to pass data to at run-time. When I run my app to do this and save it as a pdf, it hangs and I eventually have to manually terminate the EXE. Now here is where it gets interesting: When I forcibly terminated the program and checked the file that it was supposed to write to, I notice that the report was transformed and written correctly. The issue was that the app was not closing upon completion.
    I then stepped through the code using the debugger and saw that after I exit main's body; I get a message box saying "unknown software exception (0xe06d7363) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812a5b". Now, I went back and commented out the foreach loop in SetData() to iterate through the subreports to see what would happen. The result was that there was no message box about the software exception, but the report now had 4 empty subreports and made the main report practically useless. This means that something in the process of assigning data to the subreports is causing this "unknown software exception" to occur. The code I am using is:
    public static void Main()
    ReportDocument doc = new ReportDocument();
    DataSet ds = new DataSet("ProbeSheetPrimeLeadStats");
    try
    //use the schema to create structure of the dataset
    ds.ReadXmlSchema(new FileStream("C:
    xmlFiles
    ProbeSheetSchema.xsd", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read));
    //now use the dummyLead.xml file to pass it data
    ds.ReadXml(new FileStream("C:
    xmlFiles
    dummyLead.xml", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read));
    //load the report in
    doc.Load("C:
    reports
    ProbeSheetV2WSchema.rpt");
    // set all the data for the main report
    ApplyReportData(ds, doc);
    //doc.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, "C:
    xmlFiles
    ProbeTestOutput.pdf");
    MemoryStream stream = (MemoryStream)doc.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat);
    FileStream outputOfResult = new FileStream("C:
    xmlFiles
    ProbeTestOutput.pdf", FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write);
    outputOfResult.Write(stream.ToArray(), 0,(int) stream.Length);
    finally
    //clean up the garbage :-p
    doc.Dispose();
    ds.Dispose();
    private static void ApplyReportData
    (DataSet DsReportData, ReportDocument theReport)
    //set the main report's data
    SetData(DsReportData, theReport);
    //now set it for each subreport
    /*NOTE: If you skip the below foreach loop, the app works fine!!! */
    foreach (ReportDocument SubReport in
    theReport.Subreports)
    SetData(DsReportData, SubReport);
    private static void SetData
    (DataSet DsReportData, ReportDocument someReport)
    //each table in the report find's corresponding sibling
    //in the dataset's table collection
    foreach (Table table in someReport.Database.Tables)
    table.SetDataSource
    (DsReportData.Tables[table.Name]);
    I have a feeling that it could be a bug in Crystal Reports SDK 11.5, but I can't confirm that. Does any one have any Ideas or suggestions? I need to dynamically set the datasource for this report and its subreports and can't remove the subreports because each of them represents an attribute of the main entity that can be multi-valued and I do not think can be displayed in one page otherwise.
    Thank you in advance for any help. Let me know if there is anything that needs clarification.

    I found out what the problem was. It was not Crystal Reports API, it was me (ID10t error :-p). When I wrote the report and used the XML Schema for the data layout in the report, I had all the tables originally inputted into the main report and then again in each subreport. What I think was happening was some sort of a data conflict when I was exporting with the subreport data filled out and having it present in the main report as well. I'm not precisely sure what was going on, but removing the extra tables from the main report did solve the problem.
    I hope this saves someone some time; it took be 3 days to figure it out.

  • Bill of Exports w.r.t Special Economic Zone (SEZ's sales)

    Dear All,
    Issue is regarding Bill Of Exports
    Scenario applicable to the Customer who belongs to Special Economic Zones (SEZ’s).
    We have two Cases:
    1.     SEZ sales With Duty Draw Back i.e., Bill of Export of goods claim for duty drawback.
    2.     SEZ sales Without Duty Draw Back i.e., Bill of Export for dutiable goods.
    Duty Draw Back is the Duty (custom duty / Customer excise duty) suffered in INPUTS (imported) material and being refunded if the finished goods is exported.
    SEZ sales is considered as EXPORT i.e., Country within a Country where in the transportation is only by means of Road its not through Sea OR Air Say within India but treated as Exports (all the Terms & Condition applicable is same as Exports).
    Issue is whether the customer (Indian) should be considered as Exempt Tax (0) in Tax Classification for Customer and run an Export cycle for this scenario.
    If anybody have come across this scenario, let me know regarding the same.
    Please revert for further clarifications & i/p's will be of great help & rewarded too.

  • Looking for example to export data from a DynPro table to Excel file

    Hello,
    I have a certain content in a table.
    I would like to export this content to Excel file and let the user save it on his PC. I tried to use the Office Controller but with no success.
    Have someone already made something like this and can show me an example?

    Hi
    I already explained this in another post. Anyway i will cut and paste the same for you.Here you go.Sample way to create a Excel file and then download it to a local pc using a FileUI Download element.
    We are developing a generic component for the same requirement which will download data to a excel from any table.
    Anyway here is something which will give you some kind of idea as to how you can write the data from WebDynpro to a excel file.
    For running this application
    Ensure that the requisite JAR files are set for the Excel API's. See the blog link below.
    Steps :
    All your files in the machine running the WAS will be created in the default location
    Alias : webdynpro/resources
    Path : <Drive>:/usr/sap/J2E/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0/temp/webdynpro/web
    You can open your Visual Administrator and go to HTTP provider service and then create your own Alias. say
    Alias : myAlias
    Path : <Drive>:/mydirectory/myfiles
    Once this is done restart your WebAS.
    The code explained will perform the following.
    There is a button UI element and a Download UI element. On click of the Action associated with the button ui element
    The code below will create a excel file in the location mentioned.
    On click of the download UI element you can view the excel file that was created.
    Now create a New project in your NWDS
    Follow the blog for importing the necessary jar files for Excel
    /people/perumal.kanthan/blog/2005/03/21/reading-excel-data-from-java-using-hssf-api
    Once that is done you can create say a button in your Webdynpro and associate it with a action.
    Then you can write some code like the one below.
    //Declare this in the end between the Begin others block.
      private FileOutputStream out = null;
      private HSSFWorkbook workBook = null;
      private HSSFSheet hsSheet = null;
      private HSSFRow row = null;
      private HSSFCell cell = null;
      private HSSFCellStyle cs = null;
      private HSSFCellStyle cs1 = null;
      private HSSFCellStyle cs2 = null;
      private HSSFDataFormat dataFormat = null;
      private HSSFFont f = null;
      private HSSFFont f1 = null;
    //Code to create the Excel.
      public void onActionExportToExcel(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionExportToExcel(ServerEvent)
        try
          out = new FileOutputStream("C:/mydirectory/myfiles/testexcel.xls");
          workBook = new HSSFWorkbook();
          hsSheet = workBook.createSheet("My Sheet");
          cs = workBook.createCellStyle();
          cs1 = workBook.createCellStyle();
          cs2 = workBook.createCellStyle();
          dataFormat = workBook.createDataFormat();
          f =  workBook.createFont();
          f1 = workBook.createFont();
           f.setFontHeightInPoints((short) 12);
    //          make it blue
           f.setColor( (short)HSSFFont.COLOR_NORMAL );
    //           make it bold
    //          arial is the default font
           f.setBoldweight(HSSFFont.BOLDWEIGHT_BOLD);
    //          set font 2 to 10 point type
           f1.setFontHeightInPoints((short) 10);
    //          make it red
           f1.setColor( (short)HSSFFont.COLOR_RED );
    //          make it bold
           f1.setBoldweight(HSSFFont.BOLDWEIGHT_BOLD);
          f1.setStrikeout(true);
          cs.setFont(f);
          cs.setDataFormat(dataFormat.getFormat("#,##0.0"));
    //       set a thick border
         cs2.setBorderBottom(cs2.BORDER_THICK);
    //       fill w fg fill color
         cs2.setFillPattern((short) HSSFCellStyle.SOLID_FOREGROUND);
        cs2.setFillBackgroundColor((short)HSSFCellStyle.SOLID_FOREGROUND);
    //       set the cell format to text see HSSFDataFormat for a full list
         cs2.setDataFormat(HSSFDataFormat.getBuiltinFormat("text"));
         cs2.setFont(f1);
         cs2.setLocked(true);
         cs2.setWrapText(true);
         row = hsSheet.createRow(0);
         hsSheet.createFreezePane(0,1,1,1);
        for(int i=1; i<10;i++)
           cell = row.createCell((short)i);
          cell.setCellValue("Excel Column "+i);
          cell.setCellStyle(cs2);
         workBook.write(out);
         out.close();
    //Read the file that was created.
         FileInputStream fin = new FileInputStream("C:/mydirectory/myfiles/testexcel.xls");
         byte b[] = new byte[fin.available()];
         fin.read(b,0,b.length);
         fin.close();
         wdContext.currentContextElement().setDataContent(b);
        catch(Exception e)
          wdComponentAPI.getComponent().getMessageManager().reportException("Exception while reading file "+e,true);
        //@@end
    You can now add a Download UI Element to the layout.
    Create a Context Attribute say "dataContent" and this should be of Type Binary.
    The Data property of the File UI download element should be mapped to dataContent.
    In the init method write code like
    This is done for the download element.
         IWDAttributeInfo attInfo = wdContext.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("dataContent");
         IWDModifiableBinaryType binaryType = (IWDModifiableBinaryType) attInfo.getModifiableSimpleType();
    //In addition the FileDownload UI element needs for defined resource types
         binaryType.setFileName("testexcel.xls");
         binaryType.setMimeType(WDWebResourceType.XLS);
    Hope that helps you. Anyway its a sample and it should be helpful for you to see how you can modify it and of course maintain some standards in coding unlike the test sample given above :).
    Let me know if you require further clarifications

  • Export and Import using Named Pipes

    Hai,
    I need an clarification in export, import and compress of dumps using named pipes.I am using Oracle 9i RAC 9.2.0.4 in AIX 5.3. Every month i have to move list of tables from one database to another database after taking export dumps. The list of activities done by me at present are given below.
    1. Taking export and gziping the dump file at the same time using named pipes.
    2. Doing uncompress and import in the second database using named pipes.
    We are doing compress for space constraints. Now my doubt is whether using named pipes, we can do both operation of import and compress of dump file at the same time. i.e, at the time of export itself , using named pipes, i need both import in the another database and compress the zip file. Is it possible?

    mknod exp.out p
    exp dbadmin/admindb file=exp.out owner=scott log=export.log statistics=none &
    imp dbadmin/admindb file=exp.out fromuser=scott touser=foobar log=import.log
    rm exp.out
    cat import.log

  • Help needed in Export to Excel

    Hi All,
    I needed some clarifications/suggestions on using the export to excel.
    1) When I click on export to excel, a <div> tag also gets exported. I came to know that this is becuse of selecting the "Enable Partail Page Refresh" to Yes. Now, I have pagination in my reports and I also need to export to CSV/Excel. Is there no way where in I can use PPR as well as export the report without the DIV tag?
    2) I have a number column to which I have given APEX inbuilt hyperlinks. When I do an export the columns where I have given these links do not get Exported. Any way to overcome this? I cant give links in SQL query as then all number formatting would be lost.
    3) In my report display I have colspan = "2" for some alternate rows. In my excel output I obtain these correctly but without colspan. Is it possible to merge the cells in excel output wherever there is colspan="2"? Or am I asking too much?
    Any suggestions would be welcome. Please let me know what can be done to solve this.

    Hi
    One solution which I've used before is to have a separate page for the export. Have a report on that page that uses the same query as the actual report (including any filters based on page items) and set the report to use the Export: CSV template. The Export link on the original page needs to be removed and replaced with a link to the new page. When you click the new link, the page opens as a download file automatically.
    This way, you don't need to worry about pagination and you can use different fields on your export.
