Export contacts to new Mac

Hello. Moving from Windows 7 to Macbook. Setting up new Mac. So far I opened iTunes, autorized new Mac, did Backup, did Transfer Purchases. Imported iPhone photos with iPhoto. Now back in iTunes... the Info tab >Sync Address Book Contacts is unchecked.
I'm afraid to try anything. What do I do next to get all my contacts synced with the new mac? My iphone 4 may have Mobile Me, Windows and Gmail contacts but nonetheless I would like to make sure I get all 266 contacts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the first time I sat in front of a mac and I keep reading all sorts of syncing contacts methods.
I do not have Office on the Mac, just stock from the store.
Thanks

Can anyone confirm if this proceedure will work? I found this posted in 2008. I am using current ver iTunes.
In Itunes you set the preferences for which things to sync. When I checked contacts and calendar it recognized it had never synced and asked if I wanted to erase or merge the contents. Choosing merger worked find and all the data from the iPhone ended up in iCal and AddressBook.
Thanks

  • My mail contacts on new mac

I'm new to Apple. I've had an iPod for many years, but not I'm all in. I bought the new iPad 16gb. A few months ago, And now I just bought a Mac Mini. The problem I have is my mail contacts from my MSN Hot mail ac count. When I set up my iPad, all the contacts showed up. But with this new Mini, they did not. Also the photo stream worked on my iPad, but not on my Mini. I would use Apple support person, but the Mini I bought was just over the tech support, and can't use them. I've searched help topics and had no luck so far. Thanks, Bobby

This will help you. Click here.
Basically you need to add your gmail account to your iPhone, then synch the contacts from iCloud with gmail. Go back to Android phone and you get the contact there just like that.

  • How can i move contacts from outlook on my pc to my new mac?

how can i move contacts from outlook on my pc to my new mac?

In Outlook export the contacts as vCard files and then it just a matter of opening Address book and either importing them or you can drag them into the app.
    It's a pretty simple process.

  • How do I move my contacts from TimeMachine to my new Mac?

Hi all. My old MBP was one with a faulty nvidia graphics card, and it conveniently went out 22 days after the warranty was void, so I've since bought a new MBA currently running 10.7.2. I have a few contacts on my TimeMachine backup from my old MBP that I'll never get again in my entire life if I can't move them over from my external hard drive. Is there a way to do it? I don't particularly want to restore my old machine on the new one—only the contacts from AddressBook. Can it be done? Help!

Normal files are relatively easy, via the Browse Other Backup disks option, but this is a tough one.
AddressBook contacts are, well, weird.  The way they're stored makes it very difficult to find them; and you can't use the browse option with the special handler for Address Book contacts.
They're stored in the <your home folder>/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder.  Each contact is a separate file inside the Metadata folder there, but you can't tell which one is which, since they're named with UUIDs that look like gibberish, not anything recognizable to us mere mortals.
    Here's what I'd suggest:
Use the Migration Assistant app to transfer part of the user account from the old Mac's backups (temporarily).
For details, see Using Migration Assistant on Lion. If that user account has the same as an existing one on your new Mac, rename it, per the last sample in the pink Migrating User Accounts box.
Select only the user account that has the contacts, and exclude all its sub-folders.  That will transfer everything in the Library sub-folder, including, of course, all the contacts.
Log on to the transferred account.  Start the AddressBook app and locate the contacts you want.
For each one, select the contact, then File > Export > Export vCard from the menubar.  Select a destination (such as the default of the special Shared user account) for the contact.
Log on to the account where you want the contacts and start AddressBook.  Click File > Import from the menubar.  That should default to the Shared user account; select all the contacts and click the Open button to import them.
When done, delete them from the Shared user account, and delete the temporary user account.

  • Importing pc outlook express contacts into mail on new mac

    Hello,
I've been looking thru the support archives and can't find anything current on this issue (archived stuff is 2009). Is there any easy way to import your contact info from pc outlook express to mail 4.5 on a new macbook pro? I'm not sure which version the outlook express is, (it's my father-in-law's machine) he just made the switch to a mac. He is not very computer savy, hence the reason I am posting the question... I have looked at o2mac and was wondering if it can be done easily without purchasing an outside application... I have a brother-in-law who is working on the problem but he is soo pc oriented that he cannot find himself around the mac without thinking in pc-mode so I'm now trying to help (I'm AM a mac person...) but not outlook! He says that when he tries to import it comes in all gobbley-gooked (his words)....
    Any help appreciated!

Install Mozilla Thunderbird onto the PC.
    http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/
On the PC import whatever you need, mails, contacts from Outlook Express
From Thunderbird export contacts as LDIF. Copy the file over to your Mac and import it in Address Book.

  • Using Office 2011 on a new Mac. Now I can no longer access my entire contact list clicking TO/CC/BCC.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am using Office 2011 on a new Mac.  I can no longer access my entire contact list when clicking TO/CC/BCC to select several contacts for sending an email. I am so surprised & disappointed at the many difficulties, conflicts, & lack of features on the Mac (Lion 10.7).

    Hello,
Are you using Apple Mail or MS Office Outlook for your email program?  It has been a know issue for some time now that MS Office 2011 Outlook does not sync contacts with Apple's Address Book.   This was true under Snow Leopard as well as in Lion.   It worked well when I had Entourage (MS Office 2008) in Snow Leopard but once I switched to Outlook 2011, the sync stopped.
Did you just start using Outlook 2011 or has this happened after you move to Lion?  Perhaps you could import your Entourage contacts into Outlook 2011?
Please let us know a bit more about your situation.
    Jay

  • I have Photoshop CS2 for the MAC and it stopped working on my MAC. I recently bought a new MAC, an iMAC. There appears to be no way to contact Adobe about this.  What do I do? Ed

I have Photoshop CS2 for the MAC and it stopped working on my MAC. I recently bought a new MAC, an IMAC and it doesn't work on that either. There appears to be no way to contact Adobe. What do I do? Thanks, Ed

That because the activation servers were retired. Now for the good news:
Adobe has provided a non-activation version of Photoshop CS2 free of charge for their CS2 license holders.
Download the Mac version of Photoshop (not the suite) and copy down the serial number next to it.  Do not use your original serial number or cs2 disc.
Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products
Uh... one more thing CS2 is PPC only.  OSX 10.6.8 has Rosetta to run legacy PPC products. 10.7 and above will not.
    Good luck,
    Gene

  • How do I export itunes library onto an external hard drive so i can put the music on my new mac book?

How do I export itunes library onto an external hard drive so i can put the music on my new mac book?

iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • How to sync contacts, music, and movies from iPhone to new mac and unsync from old PC?

Hi, I know this question has been asked a lot but for some reason I could not get a clear understanding of what everyone was talking about and my situation might be a tad different.
So I already had an iPhone that was synced to my dell PC. I just got a new macbook pro retina and now I'm trying to transfer my contacts, movies, and music to my mac from my iPhone. However I keep getting a message that says if I sync to this mac then all of my stuff will be deleted from my iPhone. (I am now aware that they mean only iTunes content, but those are still important to me). I still own my PC but there is no way I can connect my PC and Mac together. Is there a way possible that I could "unsync" my iPhone to my PC and sync it to the Mac without erasing the stuff from my iPhone? Are there other methods of syncing my iPhone to my new mac? My last question is that is it possible to transfer purchases from my mac to my iPhone even if it is or isn't synced to the PC or erased of content?
Hopefully this sounds coherent, and thank you all in advance for your help. I'm new to all of this and I really appreciate your time.

It is designed so syncing is one way only (with the exception of iTunes Store purchases) computer to phone.  You need to transfer the library from the old computer to the new one so the phone is syncing back to the same library it used to or else it will request you erase the phone.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
You can use  flash drive for copying, breaking it down into chunks if necessary but making sure they get re-assembled correctly again.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
