Export Current Setting Problem

We currently use DVCProHD footage/timeline, etc. 1280x1080 DVCPro Pixel aspect... all that.
We export to quicktime using Current Settings so we can use it on different editors with no additional rendering needed. Here's the problem: The export changes the pixel aspect ratio from DVCPro HD to square. If we take a small chunk of the 20 or so minute sequence, it'll export just fine and keep the DVCProHD aspect. But, without changing any setting from timeline to export, other than moving our ins and outs to include the whole sequence, the final movie export settings change. Why can I export 1 minute of it and it does it right, but exporting the whole thing changes settings!
Frustrated.
Yes, the sequence may have some different video on it... DV, HDV, jpegs, but it's all rendered out using the DVCPro setting, etc.

The output looks just fine, and I agree it should keep the correct aspect... which is the strange thing, why can I export a small part (as a test) and it's correct to the settings it was made from using Export>Quicktime Movie and use current settings, self contained, etc., but when I export 20+ minutes or so from the same sequence the aspect changes. This wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't a render nightmare to conform it to the same sequence settings it just came from!

• BK 9123A Voltage and current set problem

Hi,
I'm trying to use BK Precision 9123A power supply with Labview. I'm receiving error in the set operation of voltage and current. The error is attached. I've also tried other versions of the driver(2010,2009,8.2.1,7.1) but the error is the same.
The other operation, except for the voltage and current set, comes with the driver work good.
Thanks,

Hi,
I am assuming you are setting the range, and the serial settings are correct.
Have you loked up the error code 50, this might give a clue on the error. Is the error coming directly after the "take measurement"?

• Export CHAR set problem.

Hi,
My database character set is AL32UTF8
when i exported the data the message i got at the beginning of the export is
Export done in US7ASCII character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set.
But i want to export the data in database character set(AL32UTF8).
What i need to do if i want to perform this kind of export.
When i am importing the export dump file into another database(same version) using
(imp show=yes file=) i can see the message as below.
Connected to: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Produc
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
Export file created by EXPORT:V10.02.01 via conventional path

import done in WE8MSWIN1252 character set and UTF8 NCHAR character set
import server uses AL32UTF8 character set (possible charset conversion)
export client uses US7ASCII character set (possible charset conversion)
(see bold) which is causing me some concern:
DB version:10.2.0.1
Thank You All.

You should always try to ensure that your NLS language parameter of your host server session is the same as that of the database. This can be done explicitly or via profile scripts.
However, should you want to run the export via a scheduling tool, then the profile script may not be run, so another option is to set the parameter dynamically.
The attached works in a ksh script on UNIX (you don't mention your platform). Depending on your shell, you may need to 'export' the parameter as a second step:
export NLS_LANG="AMERICAN_UNITED KINGDOM.`sqlplus -s /@$sid << !!
set feedback off pagesize 0 escape off
select value from v\\\$nls_parameters
where parameter ='NLS_CHARACTERSET';
exit
!!`"

• Exporting movies in iPhoto using 'Current' Setting, exports the first frame only

Hi,
When I export my iPhoto library into separate events using the 'Current' Setting, it exports all video / movie files as the original file type with a single frame in it.
I don't want to go through each event and drag and drop each video to the exported folder as that would be an enormous pain. Does anyone have ideas to fix this? I have edited some photos, so I don't want to export as 'original' if possible
Thanks!
iPhoto has the latest updates installed and the original videos play perfectly in iPhoto.

Yeah, I have upgraded from previous iPhoto versions, some videos are a few years old (.MOV iPhone format) and some are only a few months old (Canon EOS .MOV format), both export only first frame. I might have to recreate my iPhoto library and start fresh! Currently I am exporting as 'Original' and 'Current' to two different folders, and just grabbing the videos from the original and replacing the videos in the 'Current' folder.
LarryHN's solution works well, but when I add a second condition to select a specific event, I can't choose from a list of specific events (unlike albums). Entering in the event title (in the Event condition) sometimes adds videos from silmilar titled events.

• Export & reimport to delete original - Current setting quality?

Hi,
I have cropped a lot of old photos in iphoto - not creatively - they were scanned with edges. I would like to get rid of the originals as the library is over 40GB and a lot of it is a waste. The library is stored on a laptop, so space and performance is important. I understand that iphoto and aperture don't let you just delete the original photos.
So if i export using the current setting when exporting, will that give the same quality if i just reimport that? The annoying thing then is that i lose the location info. Anyway, it's better to do this now before i add other info to the photos. Exporting as a jpeg is difficult as the quality of so many different photos is variable & the size can blow out - i wish they had a same quality option that attached all the info.
system - iphoto 9.1.3, snow leopard 10.6.8 on mbp.
Thanks.

No.
If you're working with jpegs then there is generational loss when you edit. So the Current output is down one generation. So is exporting at Jpeg, but you can now a:keep the location and other metadata and b: set the amount of compression on the jpeg and so mitigate the effects of the generational loss.
A much simpler solution? If space is an issue put the Library on an external disk.
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

• DB Creation(character set Problem)

HI,
I am in the process of creating new database from the full export dump file which i got from client. In the export logfile i can see,
Export done in WE8MSWIN1252 character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
I am creating the database manually at my site and planning to import that full export dumpfile from the client.
Do i need to create the DB with national character set WE8MSWIN1252 or can i also use character set as AL32UTF8
I want to se the correct character set so that my import doesn't fails because of charactor set problem.
Please help me.
Oracle Version At client site:9.2.0.1
OS :Windows
Oracle Version at my site:9.2.0.1
OS:LINUX
Thank You..

I can't answer your question because of several things.
The first is that all versions of 9i are currently in desupport and it has been years since I've seen one.
But if I was forced to work with 9i I certainly wouldn't do anything at all until I had patched to 9.2.0.8.
My recommendation would be, unless someone else can help you, to try it and see what happens.
Nothing ventured nothing gained.

• Exporting for broadcast Problem

Hi,
I have just finished cutting an infomercial that is exactly 28mins and 30 secs. I am now trying to export it as a quicktime for broadcast. I am doing so by going to File - Export - Quicktime movie and using all of the current setting so that it matches my timeline. When I am done and I import the Quicktime movie into FCP to check it tells me that the timing is exactly 28mins and 30 secs. But when it is opened in any other program (like quicktime) it is being read as almost a second longer causing problems at the cable station.
Is there a solution to this.
Thanks
Mark

Well, 23.98 is NON-DROP frame timecode only. Meaning that 28:30 on it works out to be 28:31:18 in drop frame timecode. (If you don't know what drop frame timecode is, look it up in the wikipedia). So yeah, if they convert to 29.97 drop frame, they are adding 1 second and 18 frames. This is something that needs to be taken into account during the editing phase.
I have a blog post on this topic...

• Can a batch file be written to check status of Wifi adapter? Then as outcome change it to the opposite current setting?

Hi all,
Is it possible to have a batch file check the status (Enabled/Disabled) of a wireless adapter and as an outcome have it change the adapters setting to the opposite of it's current setting?
i.e. If set as ENABLED, it will disable it as an outcome.
If set as DISABLED, it will enable it as an outcome.
Thanks as this would be extremely useful to overcome a recent problem with Windows 7 not recognising my dads laptop FN key (aeroplane mode).

Hi all,
I've managed to program 2 batch files (one enables and the other disables):
ENABLE WIFI =
@echo off
echo Please wait ... enabling wireless adapter ...
netsh interface set interface "Wireless Network Connection" ENABLE
echo Your wireless network adapter should now be enabled.
timeout/t 10
DISABLE WIFI =
@echo off
echo Please wait ... disabling wireless adapter ...
netsh interface set interface "Wireless Network Connection" DISABLE
echo Your wireless network adapter should now be disabled.
timeout/t 10
These both work perfectly on my Windows 7 laptop. 8)
HOWEVER ... I'd like to code a single batch file which first checks the connect status of the wireless adapter and then through a IF statement sets the opposite outcome to the current status.
I'm not entirely sure how to code this though.
I know ... netsh interface show interface name="Wireless Network Connection" ... provides the connection status with "Connect State".
What is the syntax I should use to lookup this connect state value?

• I am currently having problems with my password for iphoto. If I delete my account will I lose my photos?

I am currently having problems sending an email through Iphoto. It seems the fix is to delete my iphoto account and re-add it. If I do this, will I loose all my photos?
Thanks.

Not if you delete an e-mail account
IMHO opinion the better option is to set Apple Mail as the e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences

Please help me Itried all the possiblity

Good day FriendsI
install Java
If you do not have Java installed already, follow the instructions provided with the download in order to install Java.
Once Java has been installed, you will be able to run Java program by running the java executable that was installed. You may find it convenient to add the location of this file to your operating system's path variable, otherwise you will need to explicitly refer to the absolute location of java.
Setting up the path
Windows 2000/XP users may set their path by right-clicking on 'My Computer' and selecting 'Properties'. Under the 'Advanced' tab, there is a button that allows you to set the 'Environment variables'. Click on this and alter the 'Path' variable so that it also contains the path to the Java executable. For example, if you have installed Java in c:\jdk and your path is currently set to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32, then you would change your path to read C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32;c:\jdk\bin
When you open a new command prompt, it will reflect these changes and allow you to run java programs by typing "java". If you have installed the SDK, then you will also be able to run "javac" to compile stuff.
Windows 95/98/ME users may find that their path variable is stored in a different place. Edit the c:\autoexec.bat file and add the following line at the end: SET PATH=%PATH%;c:\jdk\bin
(This also assumes that you have installed Java in c:\jdk)
Linux, UNIX, Solaris, FreeBSD users must set their PATH variable to point to where the java binaries have been installed. Please refer to your shell documentation if you have trouble doing this. For example, if you use bash as your shell, then you would add the following line to the end of your .bashrc: export PATH=/path/to/java:$PATH
Setting up the classpath
In addition to setting up the path, you also need to tell Java where to find compiled class files at runtime. You will probably want to set the classpath to include at least the current working directory (.)
Eg: SET CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;.
The classpath can also contain other directories that may contain compiled class files. Note that if you are using classes that are contained inside a .jar file, you will need to specify the full path and name of this file in the classpath, rather than just the name of the directory it is contained within.
Compiling a Java Program
Java sourcecode is always stored in files with the extension .java. Once you have created the sourcecode for a program and saved it in a .java file, you need to process the source using a Java compiler. Using the compiler that comes with the JDK, you would make the directory that contains your Java source file the current directory, and then enter the following command:
javac -source 1.4 MyProgram.java
Executing a Java Application
To execute the byte code program in the .class file with the Java interpreter in the SDK, you make the directory containing the .class file current, and enter the command:
java -enableassertions MyProgram

• Exporting Data Sets as Files in CS5

Why would CS5 crash every time I try to export Data Sets as files? I have been just doing it in CS2 because of the problem. However, CS2 is acting up for some reason at the moment.
If CS2 where working, as it has in the past, then the exact same sets would export easily from there but not CS5. Is there any way to fix this problem?

Hello,
Yes I am running the latest version, on a mac. The Data Set is moderately sized, about 30 sets with 5 perameters (sorry if that is not exactly what they are usually called). It crashes while the data set is processing. After it saves a couple of files the system crashes. Sometimes it makes it a bit further, but never all the way through a whole set. CS2 is having all sorts of problems for me all of the sudden. I am going to look for my disk to unintstall then reinstall. It can't open files from File/Open and crashes within minutes of opening, even if I'm not doing anything with it yet. The only reason I have it is to run the Data Sets so I just hope I can find my install disk.
Thanks for any help!

• Exporting current frame with correct aspect ratio

Hi and thanks for viewing my question. I've created a video in Motion 3 using the preset HDV1080i60 which is the preset for the video I'm using in Final Cut. It's a video of images, text elements and a background video that I created from scratch not a video recorded with an hd cam. I export the video and import to Final Cut and everything is great including the correct aspect ratio. When I export current frame from Motion no matter what setting I use it changes the aspect ratio so it isn't in widescreen format anymore. Any suggestions how to export a frame to maintain the widescreen format like it does when I export as a video? Thanks for the help.

Because Motion is exporting with square pixels...
If you have photoshop, you can do the following:
Now make a new image, go to the HDTV 1920x1080 preset, but change the width to 1728 hit OK... Copy and paste your original image from Motion and scale horizontally to fit (helps if snapping is turned on).
+How I arrived to this conclusion...+
I opened the exported still in photoshop, changed the pixel aspect ratio to d1/ntsc widescreen. Made a new image with the HDTV setting, copied and pasted the image into the new ps file, command clicked the layer (which selects the pasted image), went to edit crop. Then I checked the image size and it gave me 1728x1080...

• BIOS - Full Theft Protection module Activation - Current setting Permanently disabled

Hi,
Recently purchased a Lenevo X301 laptop and installed with Windows XP. Unfortunately while changing the BIOS setiings, i have selected permanently disable option for computrance anti theft agent under Security settings.
Now I have settings are as follows..
Full Theft Protection module Activation
Current setting - Permanently disabled
Remote Diaable module activation
Current settin - Permanently disabled
I tried to change it enabled state in several ways, but i am not successful, Could you please help me how to activate computrance agent.
Also one more question, do i need to purchase the Computrace LoJack to activate Anri Theft agent in my laptop.
Your quick response is highly appreciated.

Regarding your keyboard problem, it seems to be a very low-level problem. The driver cannot access the Control Registers on the Keyboard. By going down from your error message to the lowest level, one can see that it's probably a simple "outb" operation (write data on a specified address, shouldn't fail if the address is correct...) that doesn't succeed.
So I think you defintely need to look in your BIOS if you didn't deactivate something when upgrading, or messed with some address space, or many things I cannot think of right now.
Good luck
