Export dialog: choice of folder becomes irreversible

In export dialog box the choice for a destination folder becomes fixed and IRREVERSIBLE after ticking the choose box. Now everything goes to my last folder used and the option ''put in subfolder'' that I always used has gone forever. The colour of the dialog box has changed to all white, the pink bar disappeared and I am now stuck with the last used (+ created) subfolder. It is inconvenient since I use subfolders per bird species and this way I am stuck with this obscure subfolder out of which I have to drag them by hand as a workaround. It must be a bug!
Can anyone help?

Good morning John. I am late in replying but we are here every other weekend at each other's computers and my partner Jan Willem is less into computers than I am. No, the whole choose button has disappeared, it must be a bug. So what we do now is export all photos via the silly subfolder ''buzzard'' in the subfolder ''birds of prey'' in the subfolder ''Marakissa'' in the subfolder ''The Gambia.....'' Our whole neat workflow makes this detour.
You can also see this fixed preset when you try to get deeper into the settings, but the path is frozen and you cannot change the path. I hope they will solve it in the next release!

Export dng to same folder and stack with original

When I have "developed" a raw file, I frequently want to save the result as a new raw file (dng) in the same folder as the original raw file.
It would save time if the export dialog box had a "save to same folder as original" option.
It would be even better if the export dialog had a "stack with original" option when exporting as a dng, so that the new developed raw file (dng) could be stacked with the original or original virtual copy it is developed from.
Btw, I know that I can start on a virtual copy and save the result with this. I actually do this in my workflow for. Saving this in a new rawfile is for:
Further processing in other applications.
Clients that desire to have a copy of the raw-file(s).
Quickly transfer processed rawfiles together with tiffs for each client to a DVD

The default filename for exported files is he same name as the InDesign file, with the appropriate extension. If someone exports and changes the filename, then that becomes the default for that file in the future. If you export an INX file, then open that and re-save as an InDesign file you'll reset the default back to filename.
The default directory is usually the last directory exported to. At least, that's been my experience on Macintosh (Versions 4 and 5) and Windows XP (Using version 4).

Placeholder for collection name in a file export dialog.

I would like to be able to export pictures in subdirectories with names based on the name of the collection they are in. I cant find any file name place holders relating to collection names. Is this possible?

Stacking Options in the Export Dialog

What happened to the stacking optons n the export dialog when adding the exports back into the catalog? After watching Jared Platt's creativelive course, I started creating my PSD's by exporting them in bulk, adding them back into the catalog and stacking them on top of the original raw files. After updating to LR 4.2 I don't see the option in the export dialog any more.

It is available in 4.2 on Mac 10.6.8.
As you can see it is 4.2 and "Add To Stack is checked.
Ian, you have to use the "Same folder as original photo" instead of "specific folder".

Only a check mark in the Read-only box means that a folder or file is Read-only.<br />
Windows doesn't check all the files in a folder so instead displays a greenish block to indicate that it is not sure.<br />
You need to look at the files individually to see if any are read-only.<br />
Easiest to do that is to make the Attributes visible in "View > Details" mode: Choose Details in Windows Explorer.<br />

Set location of print and export dialog boxes?

Is there any way to set the location of the print and export dialog boxes in the viewer?
To say, have the dialog box show up in the top left corner instead of in the middle of the document?

There's no easy way to customize that for the viewer.
Some people make the toolbar invisible and write their own controls.

Indd CS4 save/export Dialog Boxes are so small :(

I have a 24" iMac and now have installed Indesign CS4. The save/place/export dialog boxes are so small. I have dragged them larger and that is great.
But it does not stay that way across the program or even the same document...
I don't know if I did something different on CS3 but once I set it, it seemed to always remember the setting even on new documents.

I can't help but I can confirm I'm getting the same problems in the CS4 apps, not just InDesign (with Leopard 10.5.5). I hope a fix for this comes out eventually. As Mike says, it happens with Save, Save As, Print To Postscript etc so I encounter it at least a hundred times a day. Very frustrating.

No export dialog when edit in CS6

If Photoshop's Camera Raw matches or is more recent than Lightroom's Camera Raw equivalent, you won't get the message box you're expecting when you pass a raw file to PS. You will get that box if you pass a non-raw image file.
In your case, if PS is up-to-date, you won't see that box if you pass a CR2 file. PS will come up with the image showing all the LR edits.

Having a little trouble with the "export" dialog box

Hi all,
When I get to the export dialog box, I'm not able to type directly in the "Custom Name" space. I have to click around and fiddle with some of the drop-down menus (and then get back to the "name format" that I like) and only then can I triple-click or backspace on the former name and input a new name in the "Custom Name" blank.
Also, the "Export Versions" tab is highlighted, but hitting the "return" key doesn't make the export happen. I have to mouse up to that button and click it that way.
Is anyone else having any trouble with inputting information on the export page? And ideas?

Yes, the name format is Custom Name with Index. But when I click in the field, I can't edit it.

For me, this preset is working well. Have you checked, if the preset for "Custom Name with Index" correct? You can verify it, by setting the "File Naming" format to "Edit". The preset should look like this:
I'd try to edit the preset, save it, and edit it back, to create a new preset file.
If that does not help, remove the user Aperture User Preferences, as described in this document: Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
And as I said, hitting "return" doesn't start the export.
That also your "Export" button is not responding to return, even if it is highlighted in blue, is a sign, that your preferences file might have a problem.

This is just because of infection is propagated.. As a result files are hidden.. attrib is great as it is suggested by S Guna . May be you can make a batch file or something like that? But there is a chance of reinfection if you don't clean your infected
systems as well as your pendrives..

(1)Check whether your files are hidden.. Most of the time files and folders are hidden as a result of pen drive malware infection..
It will change the attributes of the files/folders.
In that case u can use attrib command and

How do I had expressions to the export dialog? I only have PDF, RTF, Editable Word, crystal and CSV and I would like to add XLS. How do I do this?

Hi Jack,
I think that would be a big ask. WindJack Solutions (http://windjack.com/) have a great tool for developing dialogs, AcroDialog, however it does not include a date picker.
Thom also has a subscription service (http://www.pdfscripting.com/) which has some solutions for Javascript date pickers.
Overall I think that it would be very difficult to implement in a dialog.

Welcome to the forum.
Other programs can be used to do what you want, either from inside PrE, or in a stand-alone.
Now, I do not know what might/might not be available for Mac, and some searching might be required, but users have recommended Phantom Drive, and another utility, with a similar name, that eludes me this AM. Those utilities basically tell PrE that a folder on the HDD is really a BD burner, and then PrE just goes about burning to that, thinking that it is burning to a BD burner. I am sure that something like that exists for the Mac.

Export Dialog Not Opening

Hi, I currently have a windows-forms based C++.Net application deployed in several sites that uses CR XI-R2 to generate reports. The OS is Windows XP.
Out of the blue, one sites is reporting that the export dialog in CR Viewer is no longer appearing. All other sites are not experiencing this issue.
Does anyone have an idea why this might be occuring?

Is there any more info your customer can provide than just "CR Viewer is no longer appearing"? Error messages? Details of behavior, etc., or is just as simple as; click on the export button and the button is not responsive?
Check out to see if exportmodeller.dll and crtslv.dll exist in the bin directory C:program files\business objects\common\3.5\bin. If they do, register them.
Also, what version of .NET?
What CR SDK are you using (RDC, .NET)?
What CR service pack are you on?
Has the customer tryed to reinstall your app?

What version of Crystal Reports are you using? Any service packs or hot fixes installed?
Can you open other xls files with 2007?
Have you ever exported to excel before?
I export to -excel (97-2003) data only- and open the files with Excel 2007 with no problems. Excel 2007 complains about the old format (xls) and wants to convert it to the new excel format. I alsways ignor it.
Maybe the 'garbage' you are seeing is because the layout of your crystal report is not working for the export. Is all the data there but you have extra cells and/or lines, or the data is pushed to the left? I find that I must have the fields packed tightly with no space between them and no space above or below the fields, or I get extra cells between and lines above or below them.
Most of my exports are detail lines with a single line header and columns are set to match the detail line. When exporting multiple lines where the fields do not line up exactly with the ones above them, I may use one or more empty text fields that matches the size of the fields above them to fill the empty space. Sort of like:
line 1:{field1.}{field2...}{field 3}
line 2:(text...}{text.....}{field 4)
And you may need to turn off 'can grow' on all fields as they may cause miss-alignment. All the data will be there when you export it, even what you can not see in Crystal. You will just need to format the cells in Excel to see it.
